about

My name is Emily and blah blah blah.
:.I have a lot of personal, family, and friend issues of my own so a lot of times, I can probably relate to you a lot of times if you have personal, family, and/or friend issues.
:.I can offer a lot of information, help, and advice on family and friend relationships, love lives, depression, stretching/flexibility, weight loss, violin, being organized, dog training, forensics (public speaking), keeping up with school/extracurricular activities, eating disorders, writing (stories and poems), and probably a lot of other random stuff like what to drink when you eat something spicy and why.
:.Although I can help a lot of you guys on the above subjects, I don't tend to take my own advice so it can become quite an awkward/ironic/contradicting situation for me or make myself sound like a complete and utter hypocrite.
:.Hannah Whitall Smith once said, "The true secret of giving advice is, after you have honestly given it, to be perfectly indifferent whether it is taken or not, and never persist in trying to set people right." I agree 100% of it. Advice is advice and it is given when asked for. I give it and I leave it at that. It's up to the questioner/advice seeker to take it.
:.That point leads onto my philosophies in advice giving:
1. Advice is given when asked and no time else, unless your friend is about to irritate a black bear, then you should definitely advice your friend to back away and run for his or her life.
2. Advice is not critical, not judgmental, and definitely not biased. Advice is advice and should remain neutral.
3. Advice is to help, not to get 5s on every answer. As a result, my advice ends up being quite blunt and frank with a hint of rambling mixed in.
If you have general questions on the topics I can be a lot of help in (as listed above), most likely, they will be in my FORUM
If it is not, you can inbox me to request me to put it up.
:.If you want to ask me a question directly...
a)if it is not urgent and can wait a week or so, inbox me.
b)if it is an urgent question such as "I'm being eaten by a shark! What do I do???" first of all, I'm quite amazed that you can type while being eaten and second of all, e-mail me at cancel.life@gmail.com. I will answer you by midnight of that day (or if it's 11:55PM, probably by 3PM the following day).

ok so i am over weight (bms 26) and i want to try to loose weight... though thats not possible through food coz my day is unpredictable and its like i HAVE to eat when my kid's eating... and i work nights go to school afternoons and its really hard. so anyway, i have about 20 mins (plus another 30 to take a shower dress up make snacks...etc) a day for myself which i was hoping to use 4 exercising... i was wondering if anyone knows an online video site that can show me pilates moves i can do at home.... or any other workout that would help me get this weight off!
thanks
It's not really a pilates site, but it should help:
http://www.women-workout-routines.com/
You can also go to my forum (the link is the first link given on the far right column on my page) and there should be 4 topics you can read that will help you:
Lose Weight
toning Exercises
Stretching
Carbs, protein, fat, wtf??? (Or something like that)
It seems like you have a busy schedule going on there. Why don't you try getting up 30min earlier to fit in exercise and use the remaining 20min to just relax or look up recipes? You can eat healthy with a hectic schedule. Get your kids involved in eating right and you'll see that it's not hard to fit in at all. Just buy lots of healthy foods and take 30min every Saturday to just wash and cut up the veggies and fruits so they'll be ready to eat when you open the fridge =)
Good luck!

Hello, I am a 35 year old female.
I need to loose around 60 pounds in a reasonable time. I'm going to eat right and exercise, but I would also like to take some safe, healthy and effective, diet pills.
So if any of you know good diet pills that are safe and healthy, also dieting and exercise plans too! I don't have any heart promblem. I will be going to the doctor and requesting diet pills but I would just like to know alittle about the best before hand.
I'm 230 pounds and 5 ft 6 in.
(35/f)
Thanks so much!
I'm sorry to say this but there are no safe diet pills. They all screw up your metabolism. See, this is how it works:
Diet pills make your metabolism speed up, thus making you lose weight. Now, you body will soon detect that change and will make itself accustomed to the diet pills, thus the pills will no longer have much affect on your body and its metabolism. And when you get off the pills, you're going to gain most of the weight back, and I'm sure you don't want to be buying pills every month. The bottles say 60 pills, but usually, they have you take 2-3pills a day, so one bottle will last you 20-30 days only, and they are expensive.
The best way to lose weight is to develop a healthy lifestyle. Exercise and eating healthy are the keys to losing weight. In my forum (the link is in my column on the right column. It should be the top most link) I have topics on how to lose weight and develop a healthy lifestyle so you can keep that weight off.
You should read:
Lose Weight
Toning Exercises
Stretching
Carbs, proteins, fats, wtf??? (Or something like that)
It should help you greatly and good luck!

PS. Please don't say that I'm a 15 year that doesn't know what she's talking about.
I skipped my period last month, and have not been sexualy active for the last few months. Is there an explanantion for this as its the first time this has happened. Can an infection causes this as well?
These factors can cause you to skip period:
Low body fat
Underweight
Stress
Lack of sleep
Malnutrition
Food deprivation
Vigorous activities
Sports [Regularly]

I'm a very busy person now that school has started up again and I don't have much time to relax... I get very stressed and now, almost everyday I pigout when I get home from school. I always eat breakfast and lunch and a snack at school but for some reason the stress just kicks in and I don't care anymore about anything... I just eat and eat and eat, bad stuff too- like cookies and bread and chocolate. How do I turn this around? Suggestions??
Well, to avoid junk food, do this:
Do NOT buy anymore junk food. Keep the ones you have at your house in a hard to reach place so you'll be less tempted to get them. If you MUST buy them, which you should have NO reason to, buy them in individual packaged packets. This way, you won't have a big bag of chip sitting in front of you until you finish the family size bag...by yourself.
Now, go shopping [food] with your mom or dad or whoever does the groceries. Get fruits and veggies and a low-fat dressing that you like. When you get home, take some time to wash all the veggies and fruits. Cut them into bite size pieces, divide them into portions you'd eat, and put them in separate plastic baggies. They'll be right there to just take out of the fridge and eat. And to bump that up, put the veggies and fruits on the shelf that's at your eye level so you'll be tempted to grab them.
Other healthy snacks are:
Whole-wheat crackers/water crackers with cheese.
Grapes and cheese
Health bars
Low-fat yogurt
Um, you can check out my forum (The link is in my column. The first link on the far right column)You can read "Proteins, carbs, fat, wtf???" Or something like that. It will have a list of health foods. But note that those are not the ONLY healthy foods. There are more out there.
And don't worry about the time thing. I barely get 4 hours of sleep now that school has started and I have violin lessons, RSYO, and ballet outside of school. But once you get use to eating healthy stuff, it will be like a habit. Oh, just a tip: get fruits/veggies to last you a week. That way you can wash them and get them ready every Saturday =)

My therapist says that i have depression that has led to anxiety, and then to Agoraphobia. Is there a chance that these could also lead to or be linked to expressing anger at everyone, even at people i dont want to, like loved ones, or figures of authority or even crushes, even if i take it back and make a joke afterwards, lately i just come off as an angry, anti-social girl [15] to everyone, and i really dont want to. any insights?? also, does anyone know what other involutary things are a cause of depression? thnx for reading.
EDIT
I'm not sure about medicine because I haven't been able to get access to one. But my best friend has major depression, and so does her mother's side of family...so she has a history of depression in her family. She's had to switch her anti-depressants three times and I think the ones she's taking is working for her really well.
As for who I can go to stuff like this to. It really depends. I'm not at all close to my family so I never go to them about serious things. I took a chance with depression and my mom just put it off. Like wanting to commit suicide in 5th before I even knew the words depression and suicide is an everyday happening. I usually go to my best friends with this. I just talk to her daily and I've realized that talking helps a bit. And then I have this really great friend I met online about 3 years ago, whom I still talk to, and I tell him everything since I know there is no risk of it spilling out at my school.
I think that if you need someone to talk to and if you feel uncomfortable talking to your friends, you might be able to flag down someone in a chat room and just talk to them about everything. I was lucky to find that person online & him not be a perverted fat ass. You can certainly talk to me if you want to, but seeing that I'm never on AIM/MSN/YIM, you'd have to talk to me through e-mail. I'm very decent about checking my e-mails everyday so it's efficient enough, I guess. But you can always talk to me if you want to =)
And it kind of puts columnists in an iffy situation if a questioner asks another question in the comment box, to which we have no way to reply to other than to edit our anwers with the answer to the new question, hoping the questioner will see it. So it would be great if you could ask questions separately to our inboxes. Sorry if I sounded mean there, but I really wasn't. Anyways, my e-mail should be on my column if you want to contact me.
*****************************
I'm living with depression and it sucks because my mom refuses to believe it.
Depression can be linked to other things such as anxiety, bipolar disorder, eating disorder, self-injury, etc, etc. It really varies from people to people.
I tend to withdraw from everyone from time to time and I have bad mood swings at times and I kind of snap at people. And then I don't want to talk to them for a long time. So I'm like a hermit to people that aren't close friends of mine. I can't really help you out on how to control your anger thing, because I need work on it, too.
Involuntary cause of depression: chemical imbalance in your brain.
I'm not sure what you mean by involuntary but depression can be caused by a traumatic event such as rape, death of a family member, moving, etc.

I really want to lose weight. And I try to eat healthy things but it just makes me more hungry. So I end up cheating my diet. I have tried eating crushed ice and gum to keep my mouth busy but they didn't work. What can I do?? Also what healthy foods can i snack on besides fruit and vegetables??
What are some easy things I can do to burn a lot of calories and burn the fat on my stomache in a short period of time like maybe 15 minutes?? ( I dont have a lot of fat just a little toning up would make me feel better about myself) i have already tried sit-ups.
Also how can I burn the fat off of my hips and thighs??any easy, short workouts.
Thank you so much.
xox
If you go to my profile, on the right column, it should say My Forum...and a link that leads to my forum. In there, click a topic that kind of looks something like "Carbs, fats, proteins, wtf???" I don't know what order those words are in. But anyways, just click that and there is a list of GOOD foods. Note that it's not limited to that list.
You should try and get more protein into your diet to make you feel less hungry. Drink water every hour to put off that hunger, too.
And about the short workouts, look at Toning Exercises in my forum. Those should take no more than 20min in a day. =)
Good luck!

i just started highschool
most of my classes i have at least maybe one good aquaintance or something but i have these 2 classes where i feel so alone. theres this one girl sandra who i feel like im kind of friends with because shes my best friends friend but that doesnt necessarily mean shes my friend
and this guy sam who ive been through a lot with but we dont talk much anymore
sanda and sam are kind of friends
at least more than i am with either one of them
besides them i know nobody.
i sit alone in one of these classes andi just feel like such an idiot
i feel like i should try to become better friends with sandra so that she can sit with me but like than i dont know what happens to sam
and im always afraid that the teachers going to say
OK CLASS NOW FIND A PARTNER
and ill just be so embarrassed and i wont know what to do and this can be so stressful and like ill be thinking about it all day until i have the class and at night and stuff
sorry for making this so long
but i really dont want my freshman year to be so stressful because of this
any ideas on what i can do?
thank you sooooooooo much
Okay, well I had no one to talk to in gym class with me last year except for this girl that I've had a really bad past with.
But you know, we all grow up, and we were both over it. I started talking to her and all went well =)
Just start talking to Sandra, using your best friend as a common ground. And maybe you can kindle your friendship with Sam again.
As for partners, there will be at least one other person who won't have a partner. That's when you just approach that person and ask if they would like to be partners with you. There you can start a friendship. Also, your teachers will somtimes partner you guys up or choose groups for you. When that happens, be friendly and talk to them. One of the best ways to make friends =)

Okay, so we were reviewing absolute value in class on friday, and I know the basics and everything. However, there is one thing that I'm stuck on.
I know that |-9| = |9| (positive 9).
But, on our homework, we have to add the opposites..
|4-10| (which turns into 4 + -10)
|4 + -10|
My question is, would you turn -10 into a positive so that you would end up with |4 + 10| = |14|, or would you keep it negative, so when you get..:
|4 + -10| = -6, then -6 would turn positive.
See what I'm saying? Sorry if I'm making this more complicated than it seems, but I'm really stuck on this, and I need to get my Algebra review homework done.
It goes by the rule of:
Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally
Paranthesis, Exponent, Mult/Divide, Add/Subtract
In order, that is.
So, think of the absolute value things as a paranthesis. You'd do what's inside FIRST. Then when you get that answer and you've simplified as much as you can inside the absolute value, THEN you think about doing the make it positive thing.
So, it'd be..
|4+ -10|=
|-6|=
6
=)
Has anyone done the Special K Challenge? How did it work for you? Thanks!
Well, I have never done it myself.
But there have been reports of people developing kidney stones (when you eat too much of the same thing, I think) & most people gain all the weight back after quitting the "diet". So I guess to lose weight, you need to do it the old fashion way. I'm sure you don't want to eat Special K twice a day for the rest of your life.
I have stuff on losing weight on my forum.
Lose weight & toning exercises & "Carbs, Protein, fat wtff???" (Or in whatever order)

i rate this website ok
Your question is?
Try to be more clear.
And actually ask a question.
Putting something for the title does not automatically qualify it as an actual question.
And you get horses off this website?
Be more specific.

okay.
so ever since 4th of july, i've been binging NON-STOP.
i only gained 5lbs, so i dont' know if thats a good thing or a bad thing.
anyways, i want to loose 10-15lbs. i have no specific weight-loss date. maybe before the year is over.
what should i do to stop myself from bing-eating. its not like its an eating problem. i can go a day without doing it. its just when i'm home alone i start to eat alot.
what kind of foods should i eat?
fruit, veggies, whole grains, dairy, lean meat?
i've been starting to drink 8 glasses of water per day as well.
thank you for the help.

I have a list of foods that are healthy for you in there. Note that healthy foods are not limited to the list.
You may want to fit in exercise instead of trying to lose weight only through fixing what you eat. There are other topics in my forum about exercising. The topic "Lose Weight" and "Toning Exercises" should aid you =)
If you don't know how to get to my forum, there's a link on my page. It says..."forum" haha.
Good luck!

This question is just to get opinions:
If someone you knew told you that they cut themselves, what would your first reaction be? Would you think they were crazy, would you try to help them, would you be scared of them, or what?
Well, when I first learned that my friend cut, I started crying because I felt horrible for not even suspecting.
I wouldn't be scared of them or judge them in any way, shape, or form, though.
Then when I learned that my best friend cut, I was speechless because I really didn't know what to say. But, hmm, yeah.

Am am 13 years old and going into eigth grade...all of my other freinds have their periods and i just want mine already..even though i heard how much it sucks....im pretty flat-chested(dont get me wrong i have SOMETHING just not enought to fill out more than an A cup~~ ive read some replys to the other questions and i do have discharge already...ive have it for like 9 months now... i just still dont want to be the size i am while im going into high school...could some one just tell me how long it took them to get their period after they showed some of the signs that meant you were going to get it soon?...
i know i sound pathectic but i REALLY could use some help
It really varies. Some get it when their 11 while some get it when they're closer to 18 or above.
If you do a lot of sports, are underweight, are under constant stress, not eating properly, malnutritioned, etc, those things could delay your period also.
Just let nature take it course.

Hey everyone I just have a regular problem I am sure every guy has eventually. Okay there is this girl that I like and I am pretty sure she likes me also. The thing is whenever we are together we have fun and are really cool. It's just that whenever her best friend is around or someone else she changes completely. She acts like she hates me and I can't talk to her because of her friend. Also she and her friend are almost inseparable. I really could use some advice. Thanks.
From what I see, there are only two reasons. Okay, three:
1. She doesn't like it/finds it awkward to be flirty and stuff around any guy when her friend[s] are around, including her best friend.
2. Her bff might not like you that much in a friend way or has some kind of problem with you and she doesn't want her bff lecturing her about her like you or something.
3. Short term memory?
But don't try to separate their friendship no matter what. If this girl really does like you, she'll find a way to get over i. Uhh, why don't you ask her out? Haha. Problem solved.

i love to write. but i'm bad at coming up with ideas to write about. usually when people give me ideas, i can write about it for a while. so anyone have any good plots or book ideas?
Storywrite.com should help you out with writing.
Remember that when writing, the ideas have to come out of your head. Not other people's. Sure, you can get a suggestion here and there but asking for an idea on what to write won't help you improve with your writing. So just think about what you like and what you like to do. If you like music, write something about a musician. If you like dancing, write about a dancer. If you like writing, write about a writer. If you like writing dark stories, write about people who've experienced traumatizing events. If you like happy stories, write about princesses? Haha. My main point is write about what interests you. You'll find it much easier to write about what you like than write about what other people suggest.

can someone tell me about that bloody mary legend with the mirros and stuff
It is said that if you turn off the lights in the bathroom, close the door, turn 3 times in front of the mirror, saying "Bloody Mary" 3 times, Bloody Mary is said to appear in the mirror.
And Bloody Mary, I think, comes from Queen Mary of England [Queen Elizabeth's half sister? Step sister. Whichever] She earned her nickname "Bloody Mary" because of the number of people she killed while she reigned.
There are a whole lot of variations to that legend and who Bloody Mary actually is.
The above I've mentioned is what's engraved into my head and amongst my friends.

There's more on Bloody Mary =)

Sorry my dear, but you can lose up to only 2-3lbs in those 2 weeks. Otherwise, it will be unhealthy, hard to keep off, and result in rapid gaining of the lost pounds.

This may sound silly...but I think I may have lost my writing mojo. Last year, it seemed as if I could write really well. I always received compliments from my teachers on how well I could write creatively. But now, as I'm sitting here and typing up an assignment, nothing comes to mind and my story sounds so amateur and horrible. And I can't think of good vocabulary either. Does it just seem that way to me? It disappoints me tremendously :( What can I do? =/
Ahh! I know what you mean.
I've experienced writer's block one too many times. For me, it helps when I read what I've wrote in the past and other people's works. And try not to force yourself to write anything because it will only frustrate you. Just chillax and don't even think about writing.
Then you'll have this amazingly brilliant idea pop into your head one day and that's when you should write that amazingly brilliant idea down on a piece of paper and work on it =)
stroywrite.com is an awesome website if you haven't joined alreayd =) I love that site. I'm addicted to it.
anybody have any good advice on how to wake my self up before i go to school?
Ps. dont say to take a shower or to rub a hot rag on my face
I'm naturally a morning person.
Haha, but I've made myself a night person over the past 2 years?
XD But anywhos. Wake up an hour earlier than you need to and run a mile or two. Seriously, just run. Then take a fairly cold shower. And indulge yourself with tea or coffee. Well, I vote for tea. But if you dislike tea, there's always coffee.
Oh, listening to fast tempoed music helps me a lot =) Or listening to y101 helps me. Well, whatever the station is for rock music.
Hmm, if all else fails, hire a little 4 year old to come jump on you. That's how my friend got me to wake up at her house...well, it was her little sister...who weighed a lot. I had lots of bruises. So, maybe get a light 4 year old? =P
