Question Posted Monday September 10 2007, 11:01 pm

I'm a very busy person now that school has started up again and I don't have much time to relax... I get very stressed and now, almost everyday I pigout when I get home from school. I always eat breakfast and lunch and a snack at school but for some reason the stress just kicks in and I don't care anymore about anything... I just eat and eat and eat, bad stuff too- like cookies and bread and chocolate. How do I turn this around? Suggestions??

Well, to avoid junk food, do this:
Do NOT buy anymore junk food. Keep the ones you have at your house in a hard to reach place so you'll be less tempted to get them. If you MUST buy them, which you should have NO reason to, buy them in individual packaged packets. This way, you won't have a big bag of chip sitting in front of you until you finish the family size bag...by yourself.

Now, go shopping [food] with your mom or dad or whoever does the groceries. Get fruits and veggies and a low-fat dressing that you like. When you get home, take some time to wash all the veggies and fruits. Cut them into bite size pieces, divide them into portions you'd eat, and put them in separate plastic baggies. They'll be right there to just take out of the fridge and eat. And to bump that up, put the veggies and fruits on the shelf that's at your eye level so you'll be tempted to grab them.

Other healthy snacks are:
Whole-wheat crackers/water crackers with cheese.
Grapes and cheese
Health bars
Low-fat yogurt

Um, you can check out my forum (The link is in my column. The first link on the far right column)You can read "Proteins, carbs, fat, wtf???" Or something like that. It will have a list of health foods. But note that those are not the ONLY healthy foods. There are more out there.

And don't worry about the time thing. I barely get 4 hours of sleep now that school has started and I have violin lessons, RSYO, and ballet outside of school. But once you get use to eating healthy stuff, it will be like a habit. Oh, just a tip: get fruits/veggies to last you a week. That way you can wash them and get them ready every Saturday =)
