"Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and, above all those who live without love" - Albus DumbledoreHi, I'm Laura. I'm a senior in college & I'm slowly deciding what I want to do with my life. I love Harry Potter, coffee, writing, and sleeping (amongst other things). I'll never claim to know everything, but I'm confident in my ability to help people with their problems. Feel free to send me an inbox question; I'll get back to you!
A few thoughts I've gathered from my teenage years (and being on this site for most of them!):
1. If you Google song lyrics, the song will come up 99% of the time.
2. Dress to fit your body type, and buy the size that fits. If you're a size 6, squeezing into a 4 won't make you look skinnier. It makes you look fat when you aren't.
3. You will never regret waiting to lose your virginity.
4. There is such a thing as a stupid question, but we're all allowed to ask them.
BU 2014 :)
wicked awesome conversations
^my forum, liven it up a little?
advice
Okay, so I recently got a new laptop and need to transfer the songs on my old itunes to my new laptop. How do I get the songs off my ipod to the itunes on this laptop?
I've tried a few online tutorials but can't seem to get it to work. When I plug in the ipod and go to My Computer, about 200 songs show up but none that are on my ipod. I really don't want to download anything, so please don't suggest that.
So does anybody have any good tutorials or ideas? Thank you so much.

I wrote that answer a long time ago but it should still work regardless of the iPod model you have.
can you wear fake plastic glue-on nails for a week?
are they ok for reuse?
what other alternatives are there for nails?
i heard acyrlic is bad..
You can wear them for as long as the glue stays on. I'd say they're okay to re-use as long as they don't look nasty. Maybe re-paint them or something? I've seen people do that before.
You could use a nail-growth nail polish. They might work, who knows. And they're not that expensive either. One of my friends has wicked long natural nails, and she uses some Sally Hansen polish. You could also just get a manicure (no fake nails)
i've been using bikini zone because my pubic hair on my bikini line is very dark and i usually have a lot of ingrown hairs, has anybody used bikini zone and seen results? i just want to know if its worth it, thanks xoxo
I use it, and I've noticed that it reduces red bumps and irritation. So I'd imagine that it works for ingrown hairs too, since the product does everything else it says it will.
when is prom .. for juniors?
It's different for every school.
My school's is in April, others are in May.
What types of cologne are cheap, smell good, and would fit a guy in his late 20's? Something subtle so you can't smell it from ten feet away, but still noticable.
Jake from Hollister.
A87 from Aeropostale.
Both are relatively inexpensive and smell really good. Any cologne can be overpowering if you wear too much, so if you don't like, shower in it, it won't be too intense.
k im 15 & i wear tampons but everytime i wear it i need 2 wear a pad 2 but it still leaks i wear a regular absorbancy does this mean that my tampons sucks or that i need a bigger absorbancy
You've got two options:
1. Change your tampons more often, or
2. Use a bigger absorbency. There are multipacks for this exact reason.
so last month i got my first gardasil shot. the doctor recomended it but my mom was kinda on edge to decide weather i should get it or not. i got it but my mom seems to think that there can be negative side affects. like that there is side effects more severe then it said on the paper. and some of them may not come right away at all.. it may be a few weeks or months. she says it hasnt been out for to long and that it is new so i could be bad.. but i dont know. she says she has heard negative things.
has anyone heard anything really bad about this shot? not like the common side effects that i read on the paper but ones that are more brushed under the covers and not mentioned. any that could be a huge danger to my health.
15/f
No. If the vaccine wasn't safe it wouldn't have been released. It's virtually impossible that any side effect you could experience would be worse than getting HPV or cervical cancer. Don't worry about it =]
I did some Google searches and when I did find something terrifying/strange/just plain weird, it was a very small number [as in one in a group of thousands] and since it's so small... it's doubtful that it was the vaccine that did it.
Since you got the shot already and nothing too bad has shown up, you're fine.
Any tips for getting rid of that fishy smell that seems to stay on them FOREVER?
I've tried cleaning the rocks in a colander with some soap and hot water, but the smell is still there. I hate that whenever I change my fish's water, I can clean those rocks over and over, but they still smell!
HELP!
Use Windex on the rocks.
It's the only thing I know of that gets rid of the smell.
Just make sure you rinse it off completely.
I used to have a betta fish and windex has never harmed either of them. One of them lived for over three years with weekly cleanings of his bowl with Windex.

I want to have a boy/girl birthday party and my friends said I could have it at their house but how do I ask my parents and their parents and convince them that we are old eough for a party like this? also, where should I have it? My house doesnt have a big enough yard for a party but my friends do and the offered
A boy/girl birthday party shouldn't be a big deal.
Ask your parents when they're in a good mood. Dinnertime is usually a good time.
Say, "Hey, I made the guest list for my party."(either write it down and give it to them, or tell them) then say something like "Oh, and our yard isn't very big, so would it be okay if I had it at [insert friend's name here]'s house? It's okay with her parents (ask her parents first obviously)
Also, if there's supervision there shouldn't be a problem with anyone being able to go.
Happy birthday!

I'm currently in rehersals for a musical theatre show. I had to buy character shoes (there's a link to a picture at the bottom of the question) and now every time I wear them my feet hurt so much that it's almost unbearable. I've worn much higher heels before and had no problem. The shoes aren't too small, either. Right now, my feet are throbbing and I took my character shoes off more than an hour ago. My real question is: does anyone have any ways that I can a) make my feet hurt less while wearing my charcter shoes or b)help make my feet feel better when I'm at home?
Thanks.

Get some Dr. Scholl's insoles. If the shoes are a tight fit there's extra-thin ones that fit in dress shoes.
Also, try wearing them more often during the day to get used to them.
ughh ok this is really embarrassing and thank god my name doesnt show up with this. But... how do u makeout? like ppl have told me and stuff but can someone actually give me like really goood guidelines?
Quite honestly, it really just comes naturally. You can read every website and interrogate the entire student body for their best advice and it's still going right out the window when it comes down to actually kissing.
Now for my opinion/advice: it's hard to be a truly "bad" kisser. You (or the person you're kssing) may be used to something else, or you may both be total kissing n00bs ;) The more you do it the better you get, and you refine your own little technique & such. Don't drool all over the other person's face- you'll have to swallow your saliva occassionally and you don't even have to stop kissing to do it. That may sound weird now, but it's really not (you'll see what I mean once you do it). Also, it doesn't have to be like, "Hey let's see how far I can jam my tongue down your throat!" Start off slowly & gently and gradually get more intense as you both get into it.
But like I said, you'll forget everything anyways ;] And that's not a bad thing, just enjoy the moment. Weird noises/teeth clunking together- laugh it off. No big deal.

Why do guys like blowjobs so much? is it mindblowing?
Because they're guys, and it feels good. So unless you have razor-sharp teeth or have hydrochloric acid in your mouth, then yes I'd say it's pretty mind-blowing.
According to my friends it's the second-best thing ever. You can probably guess what the first is.
well i've been with my boyfried for almost 2 months. the first month was great! amazing even. but lately its just seemed as if i were just another girl. i know he cares about me. when its just us two its different(most of the time) its better. im not sure whats change but something has. i feel like when im gone for a while he doesnt miss me..that or he doesnt show it. idk its crazy. i think we need more flirting going on. that could make it funner. but how exactly do i do that? like how do i be more flirty..any tips? thatd be great!
Now that you've been in a relationship for awhile, he doesn't have to constantly be trying to "win you over". Like, you can hang out with other people & friends and not be all over each other.
When you're apart, your relationship has developed to the point that you can trust each other. One (or both) of you might be worried about getting sick of each other, so you might limit phone calls/texting/IM more than you used to.
I felt like you did for awhile- that my boyfriend didn't miss me. It's totally irrational, after all, he's dating you! Of course he likes you and misses you when you're not there. It's actually kind of creepy when people are always either a) all over each other or b) moaning that they're not with their significant other every second. You have to find that balance between seeing each other and spending time with friends & doing other things you enjoy.
So if you want to be more flirty, just be yourself. Sit together, hold hands, kiss him at random (but appropriate) times, send him cute text messages, etc- little things like that.
The feeling that you're " just another girl" may be from falling into a routine when you hang out together. Go on dates that involve something besides a movie & just sitting there. Miniature golf, shopping, taking a drive somewhere (if it's legal, hahaha), or stay at home and watch old TV shows on DVD. Variety is the spice of life ;]
Have fun =]

(14, female) i always have a really hard time explaining this...so anyways, in between my boobs there like this little dent type thing. it dips in a little instead of just going straight down. i cant wear the "triangle top" bikinis. its called a concave chest. i know boys that have it but usually no girls have it. Whenever i have a boyfriend im so nervous about them letting them touch my boobs, or taking my shirt off for them cuz im like what would they think!? what would boys think? i mean, what should i do?
Honestly, they'll be so excited over the fact that you just took your shirt off to notice that your chest has a dent. They won't be noticing tiny details like that very much, anyways...
Ok so my boyfriend and i are really ready to have sex, but don't want to do it unless we're protected or whatever. Is there and age limit on how young you can be to buy condoms?
Nope, there's no age limit to buying condoms.
If a cashier won't sell them to you, go to another one, and f you're bold enough, complain to the manager, but you don't have to go that far.
If someone was being particularly stubborn I'd just argue back "Well, at least we're being responsible and safe with our decisions"

There's these two guys who I'm good friends with.
One of them is my ex, but now my best male friend.
The other one is just a really good friend.
I admit that I flirt with the second one quite a bit, I kinda like him..in THAT way..but I'm not sure at the moment.
Now quite a few people have been asking me whether I'm getting back together with my ex, since we hang around a lot..and I tell them no.
But what's bothering me is that a lot of people have asked me if I'm dating the second guy.
Would you say they assume that from the way we behave towards each other? Would it be a good sign in a way if people thought that we were together?
Thanks.
It could be a good sign, but it could also simply be their curiosity. I have a lot of guy friends (and a boyfriend) but I've been asked many times if I'm dating my friends. Being comfortable around a guy (or guys) and joking around/spending time together may be interpreted as a relationship to some people.
So, by their noticing something, they're picking up on the fact that you two seem to get along very well. Which, in most cases, would be a good thing I'd assume.
My ex boyfriend recently started dating this super trashy girl but for some reason it still makes me jealous to see them together. His/her friends talk crap on me when I'm around (like in class, I do not hangout with them) I know 100% that if I layed the offer to go back out with him he would dump her in an instant, but I don't want him. He was abusive and controlling. But I constantly find myself wanting to get back at him or at least show up his jerk friends. I need some ideas of how to make myself seem totally independant of him (like ways to make him jealous I guess but in a mature way) and how to deal with his anonying friends. Any ideas? I'm 16/f
My personal opinion? Do nothing. He's obviously dating her to make you jealous, and it's working. You said yourself he was abusive and controlling, so he deserves what he's got now.
I think it'd be a poised and mature thing to simply ignore him and move on with your life. I suppose you could get back at him by being a better person than him. And when you get a new guy (a better one than him, I hope!) you can let him know what he's missing.
Oh and as a side note, if that girl isn't one who is talking crap about you (though I have a feeling she is) I'd give her a heads up on the abusive/controlling part of his personality, even though she probably won't listen to you.

14[15 in july]/female. i was wondering if their was anyway that i could like tighten my butt up a little bit. and go down from like a 3 to a one again because i went from a 0-3 in just 1 school year, 9-10 months?. i run track and we do alot of ab work outs but i dont think that will help me out that much, any suggestions?
if you need more info just leave it in the answer and ill do a feedback thing of it.
0 to a 3? You're still skinny! As you get older you're supposed to gain some weight.
Don't try anything drastic (you have no need to) but little changes like cutting out soda & junk food and drinking more water can drop a pound or two.
is there a boston college and a boston university? or are they the same thing?
if so is the university like better than the college?
thanks!
They're completely separate institutions.
Boston College:
http://www.bc.edu/
Boston University:
http://www.bu.edu/
They're similar in the sense of location (both obviously in Massachusetts) and they're both considered to be excellent schools. Since I have no idea what you want out of a college, check out those sites for yourself, in addition to www.collegeboard.com =)
If you're not from around here, Massachusetts (and actually all of New England) is known as an exceptional area for colleges, so you'll definitely find something for you. Good luck!

okay so me and my boyfriend have been dating for awhile, but i saw in his phone, how some guy was texting him. he was questioning something about my boyfriends myspace. he said something about his "baby" on his myspace. so the guy asked him if this so called "baby" was his little sister {ashanti.} and my boyfriend replied yes, and how he has been wanting to get with her, and he want to wife her up, and all this crap. so we broke up, for good. Was that at all the right thing to do?
No, I don't think you did.
Did you even ask your boyfriend about this before you broke up?
Because a) you invaded his privacy by going though his phone and
b) he could have just been joking around. If you haven't figured it out by now, guys have a tendency to joke around about things with their friends & other guys. Even serious things like relationships.
Buuut, if he was serious then yes absolutely you did the right thing.
