Any tips for getting rid of that fishy smell that seems to stay on them FOREVER?
I've tried cleaning the rocks in a colander with some soap and hot water, but the smell is still there. I hate that whenever I change my fish's water, I can clean those rocks over and over, but they still smell!
Of course you wouldn't be able to put them back right away, but after you rinse and drain all the water you can, if you spread the rocks out on several layers of newspaper and allow them to dry out in the sun for several hours. I bet this would help. [ Nallie's advice column | Ask Nallie A Question ]

It's the only thing I know of that gets rid of the smell.
Just make sure you rinse it off completely.
I used to have a betta fish and windex has never harmed either of them. One of them lived for over three years with weekly cleanings of his bowl with Windex. [ LM's advice column | Ask LM A Question ]

BUT, you should never use soap while cleaning anything your fish use. I can kill them.
