Sex as a kid
Am I the only one alive who thinks it's terrible that kids (13-16) are having sex? I'm only 18, but when I was 13, I was riding my bike and doing karate, not giving blowjobs on the school bus. But thats the norm now, and if you haven't had sex by the time you're 17, you must be ugly or way religeous. What on earth!? Am I the only one disgusted by this trend?

Yes, it can be pretty awful, but you have to bear in mind that older teens (15-17) may be in very long term relationships ie over a year, and then, I think that, doing things more than kissing is ok (but sex is not always appropriate of course).
Age is just a number - I would find it more disgusting if a 19 year old slept with someone after going out with them for a week than a 14 year old giving a blow job after them going out for a couple of years.
Also maturity plays a lot into the matter - you can have an extremely mature 16 year old or a very childish, immature 20 year old.
Overall, I think that judging things on age alone is not fair, because one cannot define other things about the situation ie how mature they are, what their beliefs are and how long coupels have been together.
It takes a lot of thinking about.

no, i think it is totally....bad and terrible that kids are having premarital sex at all! i mean come on, you want to give your future husband/wife the wonderful gift of them being your first, if thats what im tryign to say.i wnet to a Silver Ring Thing concert (which if they are having one nearby you, its not a boring lecture, it is SOOO COOL!) and they said that u can never forget about theo ther people you have had sexual relations with, that they will always have a part of your heart. thats pretty close to what they said, or at least what they meant.

im totally with you on this one. im thirteen and all the boys want out of a relationship is sex. theres no more men that open the door for you or anything like that. and i think there influenced by all the rap music and videos considering 9/10 are about getting into a girls pants

Absolutely agree with you on this one. God, by the time I'm 30 kids as young as 5 are gonna be having sex!!! I'm from Australia and the legal age here is 16, unlike in th US where I believe it is 18. I'm 16 and I think at that age if you feel as though you are aware of the consequences and how to keep safe etc. then I'd say it'd be okay. Anything under that age I disagree with. I'm absolutley AMAZED how many 13 year olds are asking questions if we think they could be pregnant or have and STD, its pretty sick. I mean, they obviously haven't taken appropriate measures for their own safety and sanity. I could go on..... but i'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this!!

I agree with you. Im 13 and people at my school talk about sex all the time. I personally think that its disgusting. People say "oh i really love him" but how do you know what love is when your 14? ridiculous.

Well I've been out of High School for almost 15 years now, and we had this. Albeit, perhaps not as often, but we had it. We too had the 'sex' pressure, and if you didn't want to be some sort of pariah, then you had to get laid. But this was more a high-school thing, not the middle school and junior high crowd. Yes, there were exceptions, but that was pretty rare.
Occasionally I see a group of girls this age at a distance, and I find myself thinking something to the effect of "Oh, wonder how cute these chicks are?". Then, when I get close enough to actually SEE how young they really are, I end up feeling ill. Some of these girls strut around in clothes only a whore would wear (in public), and I cant imagine what parents would allow them out of the house dressed like that - perhaps they are fairly adept at sneaking out, or their parents are trash. I'm no prude mind you, and my friends who are about my age (even the risque, crazy ones) wouldn't wear clothing like that. If they are wanting attention then they get it, but even if they were old enough for me to have any interest in, dressed the way many do I wouldn't touch them for fear of what diseases they may be passing around. I wish I could get across to these young girls just how bad they look, but I would doubt they care; they want to flaunt their budding sexuality, its a new thing, and a lot of them end up looking like they'll be pregnant before they even hit high school.
I've heard a lot of crazy stories about all the growth hormones in livestock causing early puberty in children, and though I dont buy it, there has to be SOME reason that puberty is starting earlier - or, that it SEEMS to be. Though the youngest mother on record is believed to be a 5-year old who had begun menstruation at 3 years of age ([Link](Mouse over link to see full location)), that was exceptional and I imagine not really representative of that era. And even if you accept the argument that young girls are hitting puberty earlier and earlier, that doesnt mean they need to start bumping uglies before they can even drive a car. For my classmates, getting your license was kind of the 'sex enabler', before that it was kissing/holding hands etc. And that was a high-school rite of passage, you werent doing this at 10-14 or so.
I partially blame our media, television and movie industry for giving these young girls an image to strive for, which really is far too mature for them.

No, I think it's horrible too. I'm sixteen and only had one real serious boyfriend. And then we didn't go all the way. I'm not ready, but I know people that have gone all the way when they were like 13, or have just done things. I remember when I was younger, just running around playing tag and such. I'll wait to have sex till I'm ready. Others should wait to, but they don't find it a big deal or anything. It's not right, society is just showing it's okay. But it's not.

I'm 15 and some of my friends make me sound like I'm like, the Holy Virgin Mary or something because I haven't had sex yet, nor kissed a guy. I've felt pressured about it, but I'm not just going to toss all that away. I feel it has to be special, not something just done every day for something fun to do when you're bored.
There's little kids out there who already know what sex IS. I was sitting there playing with my barbies, playing IT tag, and didn't learn about sex until all those videos they make us watch in the fifth grade and sixth grade about it.
I remember also being teased in elementary school by my friends because I didn't know about sex or anything. They always thought I was a prude. I thought they personally, were insane and gross. No kid should be learning and doing that sort of stuff so early.

No. You definitely aren't the only one. I lost my virginity after I turned 17 and I was the last of my friends who did so. It's insane how casual sex has become. I was amazed when my nephew, who was only 9 at the time, knew exactly what sex was. When I was that age, I was still playing with Barbies. It's appalling and it seems like it's only getting worse. When I was in 8th grade, there was a girl who was already pregnant with her 4th child. What is the world coming to?

Yeah, I think its wrong too. I used to have like boyfriends when I was in 4th grade & kiss them & everything. & I wasn't even named a slut, I was thought as really cool & stuff. No. You are not. I too think this is wrong. God, in the bible, said pre-maritial sex is a major sin. Kids just don't take Gods word seriously. I believe in sex when your married. i completely without a doubt agree with you. This is disgusting that kids (my age; I am 15) find themselves having to have sex before they are married.. one girl in my biology class told me that she has already had sex 10 times with 10 different people- and I found myself almost gagging. Also- I found that everyone pretty much in my grade has done drugs in some way/shape/form and I keep asking people "why" and they look at me like I'm a freak and I'm not cool (which I've already realized)

Yes! I feel the same exact way. I am a 16 year old female that has a 17 year old boyfriend. We have been together a year and have yet to do ANYTHING considered sexual. The most we've done is french kiss. Neither of us are very religious. We, however, have morals and have agreed that sex in high school is completely wrong. I still think it's wrong until marriage. I think teenagers should keep their purity for when they are older and truly know what a loving, romatic relationship consists of.

i completely agree with you! i've noticed how a lot of young girls are having sex now. i'm lucky to be at a school where not many people are just going around and having sex. i'm 15 and i'm definilty not about to have sex any time soon. At my middle school it is actually NORMAL to be a virgin. i know this one girl who had a boyfriend for 2 days and had already given him a hj. they ended up breaking up the day. she is now thought of as a slut. but me and my friends all think it is just disgusting to be having sex when you are so young.
I think this mainly has to do with all of the tv shows/ movies/ books/ and songs about sex and love out there. my little sister who is 8 already knows what sex is, but not in full detail. she just knows the basics and how a girl gets pregnant because she has seen it on tv and asked my mom about it. my mom is waiting to tell her all about it until she is older. my mom didn't give me "the talk" until i was in sixth grade. before than i knew most of the basics from what we had learned in school, my mom just wanted to make sure that i knew all there was to know.
i think that the reason that me and my older sister (who is 17) haven't had sex yet is because of how my mom parents us. she tells us what we need to know and reminds us every so often how we shouldn't have sex, do drugs, or drink and it rubs off on us and we do the right thing. one of my main goals is to make sure that my younger sister doesn't do anything stupid when she becomes a teenager. since by the time she is 13 the age that girls are having sex will probably be down to about 11-13. i'm going to do my best to do what is right for her.
but yes i completely agree with you. i don't care what other people think about me. if they think i'm weird that i haven't had sex then let them think that. i don't care. and just so you know i'm 15 and i haven't had my first kiss yet. i'm waiting for the right moment and guy. i don't just want to throw this away because it will be something that i will remember forever.

I get ridiculed all the time for it, but I am glad I am because I know I am not a potential victim of STDs, pregnancy, and prostitution. I am against pre-marital sex, although my friends do it all the time. People do it for attention, reputation, and to be "just like everyone else". What's so wrong with being different? im totally with you! im 13 years old and im almost 14 and i think this is very discusting. i dont think anybody below the age of 17 or so should be doing anything more then kissing maybe making out but not anything further then that. i have friends that are 12 and making out and feeling each other up! 12! i dont think it's really a trend just people think everyone is doing it so they dont want to be left out. there are an ocassional couple who really love each other and thats why they kiss or something but the rest is just to be like everyone else. i myself have never had my first kiss and i may not for another year and im fine with that. i think that if we see this from now on we should try and stop it or maybe talk to someone. schools/busses should inforce such rules and so forth. i hope this helps you out!
