Q: I'm starting a new makeover thing for myself and I need new make-up, face wash, hair ideas, etc. what are the best but cheapest face washing scrubs? I need acne scrub and just face washing stuff. Also, what is the best kind of make-up stuff to get for my eyes (shadow, liner, mascara, and anything else) what kind of lip gloss is best? i dont want lip stick just gloss. what is the best face stuff (powder, foundation, and anything else.) and last I need hair ideas. I have short choppy hair i usually only wear it down. I never really do anything fun with it which is what I want to do. I wear it straight and have it flip out which looks cute and I scrunch it too which looks really pretty and everyone loves it. i just want style ideas. thank you to whoever helps me.

Q: I'm doing a report on the social injustices of Anti-Abortion laws. Does anyone have any pro-choice opinions on why abortion should stay legal, and general opinions on the topic?

i think women have the right to have an abortion in certain cases though. if a woman cannot take care of the child, if its a teen pregnancy, and if its rape then they should be allowed to have an abortion.

Q: i know this is such a typical question here - but i am looking to lose weight, maybe 5-10 pounds. i am 15/f and about 5' 3.5" and 130 lbs. i like most of my body and i know im healthy but i know if i lost the bit of fat i have i would be totally happy with myself. if i knew exactly what to do in terms of eating and exercise i think i could follow along, but i am not usually very good with coming up with my own ideas. is cutting calories the best way to do it? how many calories should i take out of my diet, and how many calories should i aim to burn daily? and if anyone knows like an idea of how many calories are burned for certain exersises... like maybe a 15 minute jog, how many calories would that burn? and if i did that daily and cut a certain amount of calories from food would i be on the right track? thank you

Q:
Hate can be a positive emotion,
When it forces you to better yourself
You built me, constructed my desire
Perfected my hatred
Now I'm driven to be ten times better than you
Piece by piece I've built my walls
And burned my bridges down
That lead back to people like you,
So full of malice, so full of scorn
You tried your best to crush my spirit
You tried to steal my soul
You pushed my back against the wall
And I broke it down
& Now that my bridges are burned, you can no longer reach me
And I finally Feel Free
whats that from?

Q:
There is this song on some girl's myspace page that i love. It's a techno song. And no asking her is not an option. Yes, i did try google.
Anyone have any idea what it can be? here are some lyrics:
It starts off..
*baby when i'm falling asleep i think about you do you think about me // tell me if you wanna get closer to the fire closer to me
waiting by the telephone // let me be the one you call when you go down // shine on me and help me catch the morning star // don't you wanna get me tonight // i'm still here don't be shy //

Q: I'v heard it's unhealthy to sleep too little and too much. However, that's all I do... I go to bed really late on weekdays and wake up really early. I've become so use to it that I cant help it even if I try to go to bed early. On the weekends, I can sleep for about 12 to 14 hrs.. If i wake up, I close my eyes and just sleep longer and longer and I can do this all day. How can I start going to bed early, when Ive tried so hard already and I just CANT fall asleep... I literally just stay lying in bed, eyes closed, for hours...Until the usual time I go to bed which is like 1 or 2 am. I'm not going to take any sleeping pills or anything like that. First, is it true that it's bad to sleep TOO much? And, how can I make it a routine of sleeping more on weekdays?

-Sleep plays a significant role in brain development. Sleep helps maintaining normal levels of cognitive skills such as speech, memory, innovative and flexible thinking.
-Lack of sleep has serious effects on our brain's ability to function. If you've ever pulled an all-nighter, you'll be familiar with the following after-effects: grumpiness, grogginess, irritability and forgetfulness. After just one night without sleep, concentration becomes more difficult and attention span shortens considerable.
-With continued lack of sufficient sleep, the part of the brain that controls language, memory, planning and sense of time is severely affected, practically shutting down!!
So, how do we sleep better?
* Exercise regularly. However, try to avoid exercising just before bedtime because that
may actually make it harder to go to sleep.
* Finish big meals at least three hours before going to bed
* Don't use your bedroom for other activities such as studying, working, or watching T.V.
* Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and nicotine in the late afternoon and evening.
* Create a bedroom environment that is comfortable for sleeping and keep it cool, dark, and free of noise.
* Read a relaxing book or listen to soothing music before getting into bed.
* If stressful thoughts or problems are weighing on your mind, write them down so you can put them aside for the night.
* Take a warm bath.

Q: so my friend wants me to get help. i guess i may just need help. i just stopped cutting about a few weeks ago, because my mother found out. I have family issues, like my father. i used to hate the world. sometimes i feel all depressed because of my family.. i dont know, advice?

okay ive been there. its been four years of cutting. im so sick of it but i love it at the same time. its been a week and four days since i last cut and belive me thats like a milestone.
It's important to find ways to soothe or focus yourself when you feel like self-injuring. Make a list of non-harmful things that help you feel relaxed and real, like playing a sport, meditating, drawing, or playing an instrument. Keep this list where you can see it so when you feel like hurting yourself you will have other options and you can choose to do something else.
Here are some ways to use up nervous energy:
* go for a long walk
* dance to loud music
* shoot hoops or kick soccer goals
* go jogging
* clean your room
Here are some ways to relax and de-stress:
* take a bath or a hot shower
* listen to music
* write in a journal
* talk to a friend
* read a good book
Many teens find that keeping busy and spending time with good friends and family helps the most.

Q: Does anybody cut themselves? Anyone used to cut? If so why?
help... how do i keep myself from not cutting..?
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
i do. i have for four years. im fourteen years old. i am trying to stop i havent in one week and four days. i did it for alot of reasons most of which involved my mom.
at first i think it was for attention just to see if anyone cared. then i moved onto that i wanted to feel pain. then it was to even out the pain on the outside with the pain within, then eventually i figured that i needed to cut to cope and that i was addicted.but if you want the technical terms learned by society then its :
Escape from emptiness, depression, and feelings of unreality.
Easing tension.
Providing relief: when intense feelings build, self-injurers are overwhelmed and unable to cope. By causing pain, they reduce the level of emotional and physiological arousal to a bearable one.
Relieving anger: many self-injurers have enormous amounts of rage within. Afraid to express it outwardly, they injure themselves as a way of venting these feelings. Escaping numbness: many of those who self-injure say they do it in order to feel something, to know that they're still alive.
Grounding in reality, as a way of dealing with feelings of depersonalization and dissociation
Maintaining a sense of security or feeling of uniqueness
Obtaining a feeling of euphoria
Preventing suicide
Expressing emotional pain they feel they cannot bear
Obtaining or maintaining influence over the behavior of others
Communicating to others the extent of their inner turmoil
Communicating a need for support
Expressing or repressing sexuality
Expressing or coping with feelings of alienation
Validating their emotional pain -- the wounds can serve as evidence that those feelings are real
Continuing abusive patterns: self-injurers tend to have been abused as children.
Punishing oneself for being "bad"
It's important to find ways to soothe or focus yourself when you feel like self-injuring. Make a list of non-harmful things that help you feel relaxed and real, like playing a sport, meditating, drawing, or playing an instrument. Keep this list where you can see it so when you feel like hurting yourself you will have other options and you can choose to do something else.

Q: It's passed 3 AM, I'm really stressed out over my classes and can't fall asleep. I've been up all nightworking on this stupid assignment (I'm a senior in college)-- I'm too burned out to keep working on it, but I'm too awake to just go to sleep and work on it tomorrow (the actual deadline, holy crap...but I'm going to turn it in a day late). I procrastinated a bit much, and am now paying the price. Excuse the rambling, I'm burned out and can hardly think straight... BUT-
what do you do in similar situations where you're way too burned out from studying, but still can't go to bed? Any tips on relaxing and just going to sleep? Oh, i know the whole Time Management thing, and getting things done on time before they stress you out too much. But besides that (since it's too late now)..any other ideas?

Q: I'm a 17/f. I know it's normal to have a small difference in breast size, which I've had since I can remember. I also know breast pain or discomfort is normal at my age, but is it normal during adolescence for one breast to hurt more than the other?
My right breast (which is the larger one) is the one I've noticed hurting the most. They're both tender at times, but sometimes it's just my right side. I don't have any nipple discoloration or discharge, so it doesn't seem like a big deal, but I was just wondering if anyone was in the same type of situation.

technically there is alot of sugar in sports drinks like powerade and gatorade. but they keep you well hydrated when you work out. so if you work out you will gain energy and burn off the sugar from the drink.

Q: Hi. I really want my belly button pierced. Just my mom won't let me. I'm 14, and have 2 holes in my ears and a cartaledge. My boyfriend is getting his eyebrow pierced this weekend by his friend that does piercings professionally. He is the best in my state. I'm going with him, but I want to get my belly button done too.
Any ideas on how to talk my mom into it?
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
the basic idea is to tell your mom what she wants to hear.
you need to tell her that;
-you will clean your piercing and take care of it
-its your responsabilty and if something happens its not your moms fault.
-if something does happen [infection ect.] that you will tell her and not hide it. (parentslovethatstuff)
now if she lets you get it done. you have to follow through with the above responses or next time you want something done she wont let you.
you shouldnt use excuses like;
-but mom all my friends have it done
-mom its my body.
both of these responses will lead to a fast remark that you are her daughter.
good luck!

Q: I started cutting when i was in 6th grade but i didnt like it. but now i am and i have huge cuts on my hips and i burn my self with really hot water or something really hot like metal. I know i shouldn't. i wear a razor on my neck at school and people look at me and interrogate me and say...''DO YOU CUT!'' the only people that know that i do this are my two friends who help me out a lot... an especially one... she helps me to convince people that i don't cut. i just wished i could stop but im so caught up inside.

okay honestly the only way to make people stop talking about it is to stop doing it. and yes it is extremely hard. i started about four years ago. and it finally took probably the 20000 time the my friend explained to me how much i was hurting my family and friends for me to stop. i took everything away. i got rid of anything dangerous. got acrylic nails put on so i couldnt stab my nails. and started doing some coping skills that i learned at the hospital that treated me almost a year ago. it didnt work out and when i came back it was x20 worst.
some things that you can do are;
1.) (common) rubber band on arm stap it when you get urges
2.) take a stopwatch. time 15 minutes and in that time go against it and dont cut when times up if you still want to then set another 15 and keep doing it.
3.) playdough.haa sounds really wierd huh? well it really does get your mind off of everything - this girl had it and when she'd get mad she would smush it up - really seemed to work
4.) take a orange[apples prob work too] put it in the freezer. when you want to cut take it out and hold it and try smushing it and stuff. it works because it distracts you
5.) the marker trick if your one of those people that needs to see blood draw on yourself with red marker[ i honestly didnt see it that effective but other people did ]
6.) draw a picture or take a poloroid and a red marker draw on it what you want to do to yourself
7.) writing letters to people that your angry with (or yourself) and never give it to them
8.) [my favorite and most effective for me] writing poetry about cutting ; it really worked and instead of doing it to myself i was writing about it and how it feels trying to stop or how it feels right after you did it.
i was so addictive to the fact that i was so edgy and that people wouldnt find out unless i told them. it was great the way i felt. i loved the adrenaline i got from it but then i finally realized what i was doing. i couldnt wear bathingsuits, i couldnt wear tshirts, i really had to hide everything, and i hit a point were i felt that i needed to mature and stop doing it. i relapsed ALOT but eventually made it through and you can do it to. and you dont have to do it alone.
