One of my guy friends, yes not only girls cut, cut and his mom found out and he had to go to a hospital.

He stopped by writing in a journal.

Watching a comedy movie every night.

Throwing away all his sharp objects.

Drew things on his wrists instead and wrote things like "Ill be okay."

He also had to go to a hospital about 4 times a week and they evaluate him so he can't cut but he said if he could go back in time, its not worth anything to cut.

Why cut yourself? To look cool? Its not cool. It hurts and is bad for you as infections can clog in at anytime and moment. Stop cutting yourself. Try putting notes or something that will remind you of not cutting yourself. Cutting yourself is not cool even if your friends do it, tell them to stop.

I used to cut too and it was so difficult for me to stop because it was like a force was driving me to a razorblade or a protractor every time I was upset or angry. Instead of cutting, I shredded paper or went jogging. Anything to get your mind off it.
Hope I helped a bit.

I used to, I had a terribe past, I was with a guy who beat me constantly, he sent me to the hospital 4 times in one month and I never did a thing, he did shit like take out a knife and cut me, he would slam me against walls, he'd beat me, throw things at me, one day he got so pissed out of nowhere and slammed me a few times against some cabinet with glass, the glass broke and a piece of it went into my neck, he moved but would come into town to stay with his sister, if I were to go out, he'd somehow know where I was and would show up bitching and swinging. But eventually, I found someone who made me want to stop, I didn't want to disappoint them, because having the one you love be disappointed in you when you could have prevented it is more painful then anything. Find something or someone that makes you really want to stop. Whether it's a friend or something else.

i do. i have for four years. im fourteen years old. i am trying to stop i havent in one week and four days. i did it for alot of reasons most of which involved my mom.

at first i think it was for attention just to see if anyone cared. then i moved onto that i wanted to feel pain. then it was to even out the pain on the outside with the pain within, then eventually i figured that i needed to cut to cope and that i was addicted.but if you want the technical terms learned by society then its :

Escape from emptiness, depression, and feelings of unreality.
Easing tension.
Providing relief: when intense feelings build, self-injurers are overwhelmed and unable to cope. By causing pain, they reduce the level of emotional and physiological arousal to a bearable one.
Relieving anger: many self-injurers have enormous amounts of rage within. Afraid to express it outwardly, they injure themselves as a way of venting these feelings. Escaping numbness: many of those who self-injure say they do it in order to feel something, to know that they're still alive.
Grounding in reality, as a way of dealing with feelings of depersonalization and dissociation
Maintaining a sense of security or feeling of uniqueness
Obtaining a feeling of euphoria
Preventing suicide
Expressing emotional pain they feel they cannot bear
Obtaining or maintaining influence over the behavior of others
Communicating to others the extent of their inner turmoil
Communicating a need for support
Expressing or repressing sexuality
Expressing or coping with feelings of alienation
Validating their emotional pain -- the wounds can serve as evidence that those feelings are real
Continuing abusive patterns: self-injurers tend to have been abused as children.
Punishing oneself for being "bad"

It's important to find ways to soothe or focus yourself when you feel like self-injuring. Make a list of non-harmful things that help you feel relaxed and real, like playing a sport, meditating, drawing, or playing an instrument. Keep this list where you can see it so when you feel like hurting yourself you will have other options and you can choose to do something else.

Here are some ways to use up nervous energy:

* go for a long walk
* dance to loud music
* shoot hoops or kick soccer goals
* go jogging
* clean your room

Here are some ways to relax and de-stress:

* take a bath or a hot shower
* listen to music
* write in a journal
* talk to a friend
* read a good book

Many teens find that keeping busy and spending time with good friends and family helps the most.

i used to cut myself, i don't anymore... sometimes it's hard not to though. i used to cut for a couple reasons

-i felt stupid for being sad for no reason... being depressed and not knowing why... so i cut to give myself a reason for being miserable

-there were some family problems that i was blaming myself for, so since i did something wrong, i had to be punished...

-lastly, it was a releif... i could just sit there, see blood run... and there was something deeply calming about that...

think about it, do you really want those scars for the rest of your life? what happens when people find out and can't understand it so they jump to conclusions and such? another thing that i think helps is wearing rubber bands on your wrist and snaping them when you feel like cutting... hope i helped... DON'T CUT!!!

Whoever posted last is wrong
People in other countries, well the european ones at least (i.e. Sweeden, Italy, ...) Do cut themselves too. Some because they're mentally unstable, and others because they Think that the world hates them but in fact they're being overdramatic. Or just think its cool so they do it.
I've had friends who did things to that effect. but to stay away from it, all you have to do is think about its stupidity. and that it will only cause you more pain and leave scars.

Does anybody cut themselves?
Yeah, teenage girls copy each other and get into the cutting habbit. Do you think girls in Italy, Sweden, Holland, Egypt, Nigitia, Kazakstan cut themselves? No, cause there is noone to imitate it from. On the contruary it is very common in the States.

Anyone used to cut?
I never cut myself. Well once because I wanted to check out how shapr my swiis knife was. That was stupid. I didn t evel feel no pain.
"The pain makesme feel numb..."There is no pain you moran...Wana feel pain? Start Kickboxing, where you beel from your nose wice a week. Try burning cigarretes and killing them on your hand...see if you can keep THAT habbit.

If so why?
Well...the imitation habit. Stupidity...
Also the need for suicide wich is totally different.

How do I keep myself from cutting?
How do I keep myself from banging my head on the wall? Well...I just dont. If you really feel the need to do so. Go spend your money on a profesional who has dealt with such situations before and is an expert...to take away your money and turn you into a zombie.

sizzlinmandolin answered Sunday April 29 2007, 8:34 pm:
One of my friends used to cut. I'm not sure if this would help you, but what she used to do in order to stop was wear a rubber band around her wrist as a bracelet. Whenever she felt like cutting she'd just snap the rubber band. It would be painful of course, but wouldn't have any long term effects like cutting does. It worked for awhile, but not for long because she said she needed to see the blood. If it's that bad, you should really seek help for your problem. At that point, it has become a horrible addiction. It's really hard to stop cutting on your own. It's good that you want to. Be an adult about this and get the help that you need. Short term awkwardness or embarassment is better than the long term effects that your addiction can have. Good luck.
