I'm doing a report on the social injustices of Anti-Abortion laws. Does anyone have any pro-choice opinions on why abortion should stay legal, and general opinions on the topic?

I think women should be able to do what they want. If they want to have an abortion then that's fine, it's their body their choice. I don't see it fair however if a women has unprotected sex and gets pregnant. She knew the risks with having it yet she went ahead and did it anyway. That is the only thing that bothers me. She should have to keep her baby and leave with the problem she put herself into. BUT if a women is raped and becomes pregnant, I don't think she should have to carry that baby to full term. It's not right. She didn't ask for it, and she didn't want it. She shouldn't have to keep the baby and carry it to full term when I'm sure it will just be a reminder of the rape.

Not sure if that helped much, but I think its right in some situations (baiscly its always right) but then in the other ones where women just made stupid choices, then no.. It's not right for them to kill it. [ disasterxwoah's advice column | Ask disasterxwoah A Question ]
modelkate11 answered Sunday May 20 2007, 12:02 am: i think its ok for rape victims but not for anything else. if a person cant care for a child then they shouldn't have had sex or they could put the baby up for adoption. there are so many families that cant have children, they'd be happy to take care of their child. i hate when people think there are no consequences for sex because of the morning after pill and abortion they can just forget the night ever happened. spacefem answered Sunday May 20 2007, 12:01 am: Lots of reasons. But here's the quickest one: I would never have an abortion myself, but I also don't want to live in a world where I get investigated by police if I have a miscarriage. m'kay? [ spacefem's advice column | Ask spacefem A Question ]

leLovely answered Saturday May 19 2007, 5:32 pm: I honestly see both sides to abortion. I believe in the right for women to make whatever choice that they want to. I don't think it's right when people constantly don't use protection, and use abortion as a way out to fix their mistakes. I think that people should deal with the consequences of their actions, and they shouldn't kill a baby because they wanted to have a night of fun. At a same time, what if a woman got raped by a man and got pregnant? Even if the baby was technically hers, it's also the rapists' too. What woman would want to give birth to a child, when everyday she'll be reminded of that horrible day? Also, a teenage girl might get pregnant. She might decide that she honestly isn't ready, and knows that she can't support a baby. My boyfriend's friends girlfriend had an abortion, and this is what she said. She wants to be able to have a baby and give it absoltely everything, and she knows that she's too young to give that to her child now. It's not like she's absolutely heartless, and just forgot about the abortion and moved on with her life. She's constantly reminded of it everyday, and everyday the littlest things will remind her of it and she'll break down. She really wanted to keep it, but she knew she couldn't. I really believe it's the woman's own choice. I personally don't like the idea of abortion, but sometimes it really is a better solution than others. It's a sensitive topic and a lot of people have different ideas about it. It really is up to the own woman. Her body, her choice. [ leLovely's advice column | Ask leLovely A Question ]
ammo answered Saturday May 19 2007, 4:14 pm: I'd have to agree with LadyH. A lot of people would (and some may do so already) use it as a form of birth control because they were too lazy to use protection.
Unless there was rape involved or there is some form of risk to the mother or the baby for the pregnancy to go forward it should be made a choice that is available but otherwise I don't think it's right.
Saying that I believe everyone has a right to make their own decision but my greatest problem with it (as I said) is how it's abused as a means of birth control. If people are going to be ignorant and not use protection then they shouldn't be allowed to kill another life (regardless what anyone says about when a fetus is considered to be 'alive') because they didn't think about what they were doing. baachan answered Saturday May 19 2007, 4:14 pm: I think it should stay legal. I don't know why people would think of it as murder. You get an abortion before the fetus has even developed every thing in order for it to live.
Some young girls get pregnant and get scared and realize they were to young to have the baby and don't want to keep it because they know they can't care for a baby. Getting an abortion is better than the child growing up with a hard life. Sure, there is adoption but most young girls wouldn't want to go through with all the hard things you have to deal with while being pregant. [ baachan's advice column | Ask baachan A Question ]
LadyH answered Saturday May 19 2007, 3:45 pm: Well I don't believe it should be legal UNLESS rape was involved. There are debates whether or not the fetus is actually "alive" & whether or not abortion is technically considered murder. In my eyes, as long as it's living, it doesn't matter how old the fetus is. It's murder. I believe there are other options other than abortion. & people need to take more responsibility when it comes to dealing with unwanted pregnancies. Use two different forms of protection or abstain from sex if you aren't ready to take on the responsibility of a child. It's disgusting to see the availabilty of this procedure; & it's sad that you can fix your mistakes by killing a living human being inside of you (fetus or not). christina answered Saturday May 19 2007, 3:28 pm: My opinion is that it should only be legal in certain situations such as rape, or incest. Then & only then should it be okay to abort a fetus.

If one has had unprotected sex & knew the consequences, they should keep the baby. they were stupid enough to have sex with no condom, so in turn they're stupid enough to handle it. It is their responsibility.
As for my opinion I think abortion should stay legal, but only until the second trimester. After that it shouldn't be legal. I don't believe it's killing a child until the fetus actually turns into a child. Plus what happens if the woman was raped, would she want to keep the child of the man that raped her? Or what if it was only a young girl who was pregnant and having a baby would be bad for her health. There are tons of situations where abortion should be legal.
TheWallflower answered Saturday May 19 2007, 3:18 pm: Well, check out these on google
Roe Vs Wade
Embryo development
Trimesters
The pro choice opinion is basically that the women has the right to choose what she wants to do to her body and the developing fetus is not human so it doesn't count as murder to abort it. [ TheWallflower's advice column | Ask TheWallflower A Question ]
