Ideas:
-Bring a CD player and CD's or an iPod. Seriously, it will save your life. If you bring a CD player, bring TONS of extra batteries. If you bring an iPod, take your charger.

-When you're at the airport, stock up on magazines. They're only like $3 each, you can throw them away when you're done, and they are super-entertaining.

-Buy one of those books of crossword puzzles/word searches/sudokus (which ever you like best) and a pen. They can make the time pass really easily, and they're good for your mind :)

-I would recommend taking an eye mask with you, so you can sleep on the plane (if you aren't sensitive to light you probably don't need one).

-Get a bunch of Rome guidebooks and Italian phrasebooks for the plane. Research places you might want to go and memorize useful phrases. If you have an iPod, there are lots of Podcasts you can get to learn Italian, which are really fun and useful.

-This is pretty old school, but just a regular pack of cards can save you from boredem, especially if you're going with siblings, but you can also just play solitaire.

-Get a travel diary. Every day, write down what you did and how you feel. It's also really useful just to have paper handy, so you can draw/write poetry/play hangman.

I hope I helped, and have a fabulous time in Roma! (make sure to eat LOTS of gelato, it's amazing).

i go on so many long plane trips so i know what you want to do..
well you should have an ipod or cd player.. which is obvi to listen to music
bring like paper and w.e so maybe you can play MASH if you have the time. i'm also kind of artistic so i like to draw.. you can try that.
you can also bring a deck of cards (war, gin rummy, go fish, secret, palace etc)
if you have like a mini dvd player you can watch some movies. the plane with probably provide that for you but u can bring one anyway.
bring alot of candy because on long plane rides i seem to always have cravings for candy.. haha
well um also you can also sleep on the plane .. cause its gunna be long.

in the hotel you probably not going to be in the room alot so dont worry about that. if you have a laptop, you can bring that and have it in the hotel room..

and remember that you are going to rome and this might me once in a lifetime experience so if you want (which i highly recommend) is take alot of pics and make a journel.. you may not want to do it while youre there but later on, you would be happy that you did it. when you get home you can maybe make a scrapbook.

well those are all my ideas for now.
have a great vacation!!! hope i helped

Well whenever I've gone on the planes before, what I've done is bring a notebook to just doodle in and also bring a CD player or ipod or whatever to watch videos on and listen to music on. Also, depending on what airline you're riding on, they sometimes already have a television either above your chair or something so if you want, you can put on their headphones and watch a movie.

Also, if you have any, bring the homework. Best to just do it then and get it over with then be stuck with it during vacation or crammed with it wheneevr you get back and get all stressed over it. Plus, it's very time consuming so it'll take up alot of time for you.

Also, if you have one or if your little brother or sister who whoever has one, bring a gameboy or something so you can have a little portable video game to play and bring extra batteries so incase it dies, you can still play with it.

For the hotel room, you can do all these same things, and I'm sure they'll have a tv there to give you so you can watch television still and maybe bring some paper so you can write letters to your friends and tell them what it's like and maybe send them a postcard and send them pictures and everything letting them know what it looks like and how everything's going and stuff. That might become time consuming depending on how many friends you're writing.

I hope I helped, and have a great vacation! :)

Hey
That is soo cool. I am from Jersey also, and i am soon going to Rome. My suggetion for you is to bring a cd player, and a deck of cards. There over a thousand card games out there so you'll never run out. And a CD player is always soohting if you get scared. But the books will keep you going for hours. I also suggest you bring some food cause the stuff they serve there is NASTY! Oh if you have a lap top computer or portable DVD player bring those movies are always great. Although i think on long distance flights they have movies. Remeber, it's not as long as say flying to Austrailia which i am doing. But be sure to have fun on you trip good luck bye

okay well that might be a long plane ride.so i'd suggest bringing something to listen too like an ipod,mp3 player or cd player.
you can also bring cards to play with..pencil and paper to doodle or draw with.
you can also bring hw.yeah i no it sounds boring but its soo much better to do on the plane then do during your vaca.

also..try to sleep on the plane ride because once you get there you're going to be soo tired and confused because of the time change.

hope i helped.and have fun=)
