I agree 100% of it. Advice is advice and it is given when asked for. I give it and I leave it at that. It's up to the questioner/advice seeker to take it.


:.That point leads onto my philosophies in advice giving:
1. Advice is given when asked and no time else, unless your friend is about to irritate a black bear, then you should definitely advice your friend to back away and run for his or her life.
2. Advice is not critical, not judgmental, and definitely not biased. Advice is advice and should remain neutral.
3. Advice is to help, not to get 5s on every answer. As a result, my advice ends up being quite blunt and frank with a hint of rambling mixed in.

I like this guy lets call him "Phil"(random name). I have a crush on him, he's at my new school. He plays guitar, is short, but cute, he luvs the same music i do(fob, mcr, p!atd, and to top it all off my locker is right next to his and we sit next to eachother for every class because of the seating chart. So today he sits next to me and my friend Tori for lunch. He says I remind him of his ex girlfriend. Now, from what I know from talking to him, he only has had one girlfriend and she and him were together 3 weeks ago, but he asked her to go to homecomeing with him, she said no and she brokeup with him. He was evidently head-over-heels for her.

FYI: I have a short attention span. So i just hear him say creepy and point at me. So i turned my head and said 'What's wrong with me being creepy?' He threw his hands up in surrender and said "I said it's just creepy how much you are like my ex-girlfriend"

He's SO nice and cute! There's a Sady Hawkin's dance comin' up, so i was wondering what do u think he meant by that I'm like his ex, is that good or bad given the past.

I want him to know that I'm not some carbon clone of his ex if he does like me. How should I go about this. What would you do?

Well, frankly I don't know.

He can mean "You're like my ex, which is good because I'm still head over heels for her!"

Or

"You're like my ex, which is bad because I hate her guts now and I don't want to be reminded of her."

I really, really, really do not know.

The next time you have time to talk to him, randomly ask "How am I like you ex?" *He says how you're like his ex" Then you ask "Is that a good thing or a bad thing?" *He says good or bad* If it's good: "So wanna go to the dance with me?" if it's bad: "Give me a chance to prove to you that I'm not like your ex (Or whatever bad qualities he may have said about his ex) by going to the dance with me." OR if you're bold, add to that "Because I really like you and I'd hate to lose a chance for you to get to know me because of something that may not be true."

You might have to tweak that to fit into the situation. I'm just giving you the general outline there.

Hmm, yeah. That's all I can tell you. Also, be yourself! Don't change or do something not like yourself just to try and impress him or something.

I know that its really bad for my knuckles but i cant help it. whenever im trying to think or something...i crack my knuckles. I have never hearrd of anything tht u can do 2 help it... so anyrhing goes i guess

Well, there is no 100% certain scientific research that has been done that says that cracking knuckles are bad for you. However, I assume it will because you're doing something to your body that is wearing away something.

Anyways, cracking knuckles is a habit like biting nails and whatnot. Biting nails are easier to stop because you can put nail polish that is deliberately make really bitter so when you put your mouth on your fingers, you'll stop yourself before biting. Cracking knuckles is a harder on, though.

The user cracks her knuckles, too. Or used to anyway. And I think she gave a pretty neat response.

Also, try to get a new habit. Wear a string bracelet around your wrist and mess around with that when you're thinking instead. Gently tap your legs to a rhythm or something. But even though it was suggested to tap in that link, don't. You'll bother a whole lot of people around you and they'll get really annoyed with you, thus discouraging you from tapping, which might discourage you from stopping th habit of cracking your knuckles.

Well, I find it ironic that you call him your boyfriend yet still a "total embarrassment" and a "psychotic".

What should you do?
Well, here's my view on this.

1. If he's your boyfriend, you shouldn't be calling him names behind his back.
2. If he's an embarrassment and a psychotic, why are you going out with him?
3. There is no one forcing you to stay his gf so it's simple, break up with him. It'll be better for you and him.
4. Or if you don't want to break up with him, which, again, I find very ironic, then, well talk to him about it in a nice way.

hi I have a question because nobody can help me. well when I'm logged in on my myspace my pictures are blurry? and everyones else is, too. and I don't know why it's doing this. when im looking at my pictures on my COMPUTER, there clear.
do you think this is something with myspace or my comp?

First of all, I think you should re-write this question so it can be better understood.

The pictures look blurry where? On whose computer? On the site? In the My Pictures folder? What picuters? Display pictures? All pictures? Your friends' pictures, etc

And all I can tell you right now is if the pictures show up funnily on the Myspace page no matter what computer you're on, it's probably Myspace. If the picture on Myspace is clear on one computer and not in another, it can be either the computer OR during that short period of time between when you looked at your pictures on one computer and when you looked at your pictures on another computer, the problem could have been fixed.

theymos can probably help you with this question, seeing that he's computer smart, and me, well I'm not very computer smart. Or internet for that matter. Just be specific and try to write it as grammatically and spelling-wise correct as you can get it to be.

Im not fat, I just don't have any muscle definition. I want to not be jiggly and have firm arms, legs, butt, and abs. What can I do to get rid of the layer of flab thats holding me back and build up some muscle? I don't want to be a body builder here, just a little defined. Specific exercises, amount of time I should exercise, what foods are good for losing weight and building muscle (I have a pretty good understanding of what to and what not to eat) etc.
If it helps, I'm 5'3-5'4 and roughly 130lbs.

This is cliche but true: In order to lose weight or firm up your body, exercise and healthy eating habits are required. But this shouldn't be just a "diet" because all diets come to an end where you just gain every pound you lost, if not more, back in a short period of time. Make it a lifestyle.

I don't know whats going on but...sometimes when I ask my boyfriend "what are you doing?" he says "not you" and
it makes me sad/mad, and yeah I don't know..I'm like oh my gosh? We've never had sex..I haven't ever, but he has.

Don't take it personally.
Guys tend to get like that sometimes and the funny thing is that they actually think it's funny 8-|
Some guys just need to grow up and some just need to get it engraved in their heads that saying perverted jokes are 89% of the time not funny to girls, although it may be to them.

I'm not quite sure how he's using you by saying that...but I pretty much doubt it. He MIGHT be hinting that he might want to sleep with you in a frivolous way.

So, to put it in simple terms:
No, he's not using you.
I believe that he's just joking around.
But I'm not his brain so I don't know what he's actual reasoning behind that statement it.

I suggest that you just hang up on him the next time he does that. If he calls back, good. If he asks what's up, tell him that you're sick of him saying that to you and you don't like it. If he doesn't, but asks you at school, same thing applies: tell him you don't find it funny at all. If he doesn't ask, I'm going to have to say, "what a jerk".

Is this true?
and if it is, and I try it, do you think it'd be ok to have a snack every once in a while and drink alot of water, and exercise.

Seriously, where are people getting all these myths and "100% guaranteed" tricks on losing weight?

Let me tell you now that if you plan to lose weight eating only peanut butter, water, and a little snack + exercise, you are:
1. Malnutrition yourself
2. Starve yourself
3. Make your body go in shut down mode
4. Damage your body

Okay, let me start with this: Do you know what all those Atkins diet and all those crap don't work? Because your body goes back to its original state BEFORE the diet, thus gaining a lot of, if not more, of the weight lost during the diet. If you plan to survive on peanut butter for the rest of your life, you're lying to yourself.

This is cliche but oh so true: the ONLY way of losing weight SAFELY is to adapt to a healthy lifestyle, which means regular exercise and healthy eating habits. Exercising and eating healthy only to lose weight is NOT a diet. It's a lifestyle you adapt to as you do so losing weight. Like right now, I'm so used to not eating junk food and stuff. I just eat some cucumbers and low-fat thousand island dressing for a healthy snack. Junk food makes me feel really bad and nauseous sometimes nowadays.

Hi my bestfriend smokes all the time, and sometimes drinks I think, well use to, but she smokes almost everyday, and probably 5 or more a day, and she's done it for a while.
I'm so scared for her, cause I know she's gonna have health problems in the future..but do you think something might happen soon since she smokes so much and so many a day..she's only 14. and I want to tell someone but I think her grandparents let her! and when she's with her mom, she sneaks when shes with her.

What do you think I should do?

I'm sXe--no tobacco, alcohol, drugs.
And I try not to associate much with people who don't really follow the sXe ideals.

I've already lost 2 grandfathers and an uncle from the effects of long term smoking, and my dad smoke. Great combo, huh? So maybe that's one thing you can slip to her in a conversation. Say that a friend has lost 3 family members and the cause of death was from smoking effects.

Right now, she'll get excessive phelgem [sp?], bad breath, and smell, yellow teeth and nails, and she'll need to make her whole body work harder to do something simple like walking down a hallway than a non-smoker would.

Look at the right column links that leads to more information and how you can help your friend stop smoking.

Addition to that, tell her that smokers get yellow teeth and nail, bad breath, bad smell overall, and that many guys are repulsed by female smokers nowadays. Make a compromise with her on how to cut down on her smoking. (i.e One smoke per day, 3 per week, 1 per week, 5 per month, 1 per month, then none at all) Tell her that you're not trying to nag her or anything. You're doing this because you care about her and that you don't want her to get sick or get cancer from smoking. Tell her that it's not other people's story about getting cancer from smoking. It could easily be her story too. Tell her that you want her to stop because you're afraid to lose her and that if she's mad at you for talking to her about this, tell her that you'd rather lose a friendship than a friend.

If she still doesn't get the point to stop smoking, your best bet is to go tell a counselor. It really is better to lose a friendship than a friend. A friendship you can revive. A dead friend, you can never revive again.

Umm, there aren't really set places for making out.

How do you know if your boyfriend is cheating on you? See, my boyfriend has this MyYearBook thing, and I don't think he knows that I know about it, but I don't know. He's friends with all these girls..and he told me on his myspace all his girl friends are from school. Well, on his myyearbook he has girls from other states and there in bra's & panties, and it's so gross. I'm so scared he's cheating, but I know he'd never do that to me. But I don't like that website...and that he's friends with those girls..like the half naked girls you know. So what do you think I should do? Confront him about it?

Truth be told, you really can't tell (or assume for that matter) if your bf is or isn't cheating on you unless you directly ask him and he gives you a direct response.

I hate to be a sexist stereotyper but: boys are all horny and perverted on one level or another. They, most anyways, enjoy internet and the rated R's.

Myyb (Myyearbook) has a picture contests and two of them are "Best body parts" and "Hottest" or something like that. That is why it tends to attract a lot of "whores" on there. It's normal for a guy to add girls that are stripped down to their undergarments or more, but it can get suspicious if he didn't tell you he had a myyb in the first place, thus making it seem as if he was trying to hide the fact that all these girls on his friend list are indeed 89% naked for a suspicious reason. There should be a spot that says "Status" or something on his myyb page that he can put In a relationship or something like that. Does he have that? If it's blank, I don't know what to say. If it says single, than you may want to talk to him about it.

The best thing is tell him something like this:
I was going through myyb the other day and came across yours and your friend list with all those semi-nude girls is really bothering me. Care to explain?

So nothings going on b/w you and those girls?

IF he spazzes or flips out about you "spying" on him or something, ask him why he is if he hasn't got anything to hide.

Basically, holding suspicious or doubts about the other person in a relationship can be harmful. The best thing is to just confront him as soon as possible so that YOU don't seem like you don't trust him/spying on him.

Lately I've been really tired in the mornings. School started over a month ago and I can still barely keep myself awake in my first and second block classes...and it sometimes lasts until the end of the day. I go to sleep at about 11:30 and wake up at 6:15. I need to start waking up at 5:45 so I can work out in the mornings, but that'll be hard when I can barely keep my eyes open in the morning.

What's something that can keep me awake during school? Do those Vitamin B pills work? I need something that actually works and won't make me crash when it wears off. I hear that those energy drinks wear off quick and you feel really bad when that happens. It's not something I can fix with my diet because I eat healthy and I can't go to sleep earlier.

Any help would be greatly appeciated.

Okay, well I can definitely help you out here.

I go to bed at 2 or 3AM, wake up at 5:30 or 6AM because I have so much HW and extracurricular activities going on. And I'm a really diligent at doing my work and managing time. This happens on the weekends, too. So basically I live off of 4 to 5(If I'm lucky) hours of sleep everyday.

1. Exercising DOES help in keeping you awake in the mornings. It gets your pumping, thus getting you hyped up. And exercising for at least 15min is proven to keep you awake until 3PM in some cases.

2. Do not eat bananas. They are natural beta blockers and have soporific effects on people.

3. Drink black coffee or green tea (Organic preferably) Black coffee is 5 calories per cup serving, which is like a tsp of coffee. And green tea is just plain delicious, healthy, 0 cals, and loaded with caffeine.

That's how I stay awake. You might want to drink coffee/tea like an hour before when you have to be awake, though. And whenever you get tired in class, just find a stupid reason to stand up and walk to something (Sharpening your pencil, bathroom, water, tissue, ask question, etc)

My abusive ex-boyfriend loved my long hair, when I finally worked it up to call things quits, I cut six inches off my hair :) Its cute, but totally hard to manage. Its sits right on my shoulders and it has to be straight to be cute. (Natural hair is curly, its too short for that)

My problem is I live down south, its so humid my hair never stays straight at school. What are some new cute styles I could try with short hair that maybe could help me by-pass flat ironing it?

Tying it up into piggy tails, ponytails, braids, french braids, and messy buns are good. Try getting bangs that sweep over an eye and just straighten that everyday and leave the rest of your hair curly and put in place with a hair band. If you don't want to do that, try experimenting with clips. You can pull your hair behind your ears and clip it up with hair clips, if that makes sense.

the irony of this is that people normally consider me a good advice giver...
now i need advice of my own anyway back to the point

for years now ive been trying to help people by giving advice but it just does not really work for me anymore
im wondering wats the best way to go about giving advice and what needs to be taken into consideration

It's not ironic. Even the smartest ask questions, too. And we are all people. We all need advice, no matter how talented of a advice giver we are.

I give advices on something I can relate to if it's not one of those "You can find the answers on Google!!!" questions. If it is one of those Google questions, I just Google them and give them advice.

Basically I give advice on something I can.
And on something that I can relate to in order to get the most out of my advice if that makes sense.

I take into consideration that judgment of people is a terrible thing. I take most questions seriously. I try to understand the circumstances they are under and what would be the best advice I can offer them. I treat every questions as if they were asked by my best friend. Bias free and seriously taken.

How can i get a flatter stomach and my thighs toned ? How many crunches for my stomach a day ?
and what am i supposed to eat and how long does it usally take ?

First of all, it would've been VERY helpful if you included your age, weight, height, and if you have excess fat or not.

Now, you can't tone any part of your body without losing excess fat off from that part first. I don't know if you do or don't. But if you do, you'd have to lose that fat first in order to tone your body.

I was recently diagnosed with Anorexia. I went to the doctor because I haven't been getting my period. It is most likely from my very low estrogen & other hormone levels. What do they do to fix this?? I think birth control was mentioned. If so, how does it work & what type would I get?? Before judging the type of person I am, I have to say that I never wanted to get this thin. It is a problem & I've been working extremely hard. Before I went to the doctor, I basically ate around 800-1200 calories a day, if that. Since my appointment, I've been eating 1500-1600 calories. I know I need to gain weight & I'm mentally struggling to do so. My blood pressure & heart rate is very low which can cause heart problems in the future. I do not want to be unhealthy, so I'm trying to do my best & gain a bit of weight back. It's going to be a struggle & I know that, but I need a few tips. First of all, I'm 5'7 and weigh around 114 lbs. I was thinking of starting to gain 6 lbs. I want to be around 120 lbs or so. The thing is, I'm not quite sure how to go about it. If I up my calorie intake, & after a few weeks I hit 120-125 lbs, how can I stay there?? I'm not ready to go past that yet. I'm afraid of just gaining more & more weight & having to stay my jean size. I would like staying in the same jeans. To maintain 120-125ish, do I reduce my calories by a certain amount?? If so, what amount?? I am forbidden to exercise right now because of my heart rate/blood pressure. They think it would cause more problems if i did & I would burn more calories & I need to gain, so the calories need to be without exercise. Also, if I do hit my goal weight, can I start exercising again?? I don't like junk food at all whatsoever. People think it's because of my eating disorder that I dislike it, but I truly dislike the taste of it & how it makes me feel after I eat it. What are some healthy options in gaining weight?? I want good, nutritious meals, not fatty foods. I want to still eat lots of fruits/veggies. Any ideas or opinions?? Thanks.

Well, first of all, congratulations on getting help =)

And the BC was probably mentioned to regulate your period. There are 2 colored BC pills in a packet. Let's say one is purple and one is white. They would have you take purple for 3 weeks then the white ones for a week. When you take the white ones, it'll let you have your period during that certain week. It's usually given to people with really irregular periods to help them regulate it. Now, that was just an example. The pills can be any colors.

Okay, at to maintain a weight that you're achieving to get:

Everyone has a different BMR. A BMR is what your body burns everyday to stay alive, i.e. breathing. Say that you have a BMR of 2000. You'd have to eat 2000 calories everyday to maintain your weight. Not above or below.

That should help you greatly with figuring out how much of each category you should eat. And a list of healthy foods are included in there, but note that it is not limited to that list of foods.
