I suspect I may have a excess of androgen production or some other hormonal imbalance going on within me. I have recently realized that I have more hair growth on my chin, cheeks, upper lip, etc. I used to have light peach-fuzz hair before, but now it's very thick and much darker. Also, my periods are very irregular this past year or two. I have a bit of facial acne like I did when I was 13. Whenever I go to the gynecologist to talk about my symptoms they seem to not listen to a word I have to say. They just tell me to take oral contraceptives (birth control pills). I have read about the pills and understand how they work but I feel that it is just going to mask my symptoms and not cure the underlying condition. The doctor doesn't seem to understand my choice in not taking this "medication."
Should I go to an endocrinologist? Will they be able to isolate my problem?
For note, I am a 23 year old, overweight female and have never had children. (link)
|
From what I've read it sounds like quite a few doctors of all kinds don't really look for hormonal imbalances in young women. Mistake on their parts!
I think an endocrinologist is where I would go. I found a good site with symptoms etc. If they sound familiar to you, print it off and take it with you. Write down your questions before you go, and don't take "you're too young" for an answer from any of them. Listen to what they have to say & then question, question, question!

i'm 18 and a girl and i got a 1988 black camaro in perfect condidtion, and there is a green switch to the left of the drivers wheel, and it doesnt work. does anyone know what it does? thanks (link)

Check your glove box for the owners manual.
It should have a diagram in it that tells what
all your buttons & knobs are. :)

Please don't tell me how stupid I am, I know unprotected sex is not good and I will be on birth control within the week.
The day after my period, my partner and I were messing around and while he didn't put his penis in me, he kind of rubbed it on me. Could I get pregnant from this? (plan b is not an option) (link)
| |
Possible I suppose, but not likely. If you are going for birth control this week you will be tested anyway as part of the required exam. I wouldn't let it worry you at all.

i am usually working a lot so when I am off which is 2 days during the week and every other weekend i stay at my girlfriends house but I went yesterday to go see family for 2 hours and she got upset how can I tell her we need to be able to go see family or other friends without makin her mad? she even got mad because i had to go home before dark once to help my mom with something outside. (link)
|
If she is going to be upset because you spend 2 hours of your time off with family, she's being pretty selfish.
You simply tell her that while she is very important to you, so is your family, and so are your friends. That is something she needs to either accept about you or not. Tell her in no uncertain terms that if she can't accept that, you will just no longer spend your weekends or days off with her.
I know that probably sounds harsh, but you have to put your foot down on this or it will only get worse.
You could also haul her along on the visits. But I'd try it the other way first. If you think she will get mad and break up with you if you said that, then maybe this relationship isn't meant to be.
Good luck. :)

Here's a random question out of curiousity haha
If a woman had sex with identical twin males, say with each one within a day apart and she became pregnant, would it be possible to tell who the father is? I know twins have the same DNA but other things about them are different, like their finger prints. (link)
|
It would not be possible to tell who the actual father was.

I eat fiber everyday for breakfast and lunch. I exercise whenever possible 2-3 times a week. I drink as much water as I can. I stay constipated. I don't know what to do anymore. There are some days where I can't go for 3 days unless I use a laxative. I've asked my mom if I can go see a doctor, but she keeps telling me they're just going to tell me to do what I've been doing. Is there no medication? I've been held back because of this for a while now. I can't deal with it anymore. There must be a solution. I cry a lot. It's hurting me emotionally because I can't help myself. I feel very helpless. :'( (link)
|
Its possible you are getting to much fiber.
The following is from....
http://www.healthline.com/blogs/diet_nutrition/2008/04/too-much-fiber.html
Adequate Intake Recommendations:
Women 50 years: 21 grams
Men 50 years: 30 grams
How much is too much?
As with anything, moderation is always best, even with 'healthy' foods like high fiber foods. I have seen clients before who are actually eating so much fiber that they are constipated! If you don't drink enough water along with your fiber, fiber can actually cause a blockage, and sometimes it can be very serious and require surgery. This is rare, but if you are a big fiber eater, make sure you are also an avid water drinker.
Effects of too much fiber:
Gas, diarrhea, general abdominal discomfort, constipation, possible blockages, or the need for urgent movements. Some research points to the inability to absorb certain nutrients, but other research refutes that.
I am not exactly sure how much is too much, but I am inclined to say anything above 50 grams per day may be a bit much. Try to stay less than 45 grams and you should be clear of any of these side effects.

Okay so last week at school I was wearing short shorts and mini skirts all week long since it was so hot out. My friends and I usually sit outside on the bleachers for lunch and there was quite a few mosquitos I think or bee's or something. (I'm not sure) and by Friday both of my legs were covered in tiny little red pumps and I'm itching like hell. My mom was freaked when she saw my legs and I was to and I just figured they were mosquito bites or something. Anyways I'm trying to relief the itching and I HAVE no idea how. I'm not sure these are mosquito bites or an allergic reaction or like WHATEVER and it has me freaked. Anyone know how to relief the itching or what it might be?! (link)
| |
Vinegar. Get a cotton ball and put a little on the bites. I know, it will temporarily make you smell like a pickle, but it works. :)

I live in SC and if I make the cheerleading team I will have to go to Fl and my mom and me are close and I don't know what to do? (link)
|
You left out so much! If you live in SC why would you have to go to FL to be a cheerleader?
My first instinct is to say if you live in SC and they don't have a cheerleader squad there, forget it.
If it is just for a training thing or something, you won't be gone that long. Go for it.

4. i am either going to be a playboy bunny or a stripper somewhere....
do these make me a slut??????????? bacause everyone thinks i amm...and i kind of dont want them to (link)

Pretty much. If you don't want people knowing you are, change your behavior.
|
Okay, so my friends very close friend needs help.
She is only 12, she smokes, and drinks.
I really wannna help her,
Because it's my friends close friend, and she's really concerned. Can someone please help me think of a way to get her to stop?
PLEASE!
Thanks a buncch. (link)
|
As a smoker myself I can say with all honesty that nothing you say will matter at all. She might agree that its bad for her, she may even want to quit, but she won't. Drinking will go the same way.
Since she is 12 and its illegal as well as unhealthy for her, I would be telling her parents. They are the only ones who have a snowballs chance of forcing her to quit...at least for a while.
I realize you may not want to rat her out, but if you can think of a way to anonymously let them know, that's what I would do.

I am a female minor of 16 who had an online relationship with a man 8 years my senior behind my family's back. I had done this once before but with a different individual and i no longer have contact with the first person. I met him at a hotel room 3 times and although we didn't have sexual intercourse i thought i was pregnant somehow and my period was late with strong feelings of nausea. I told my mom all of this and although she was terribly devastated she proceeded to take me to the doctor and tests were done. I am not pregnant and have no STI's, and now my mother and father and i don't know what to do. Only they and the man i was involved with know. I want things to go back to how they were before they knew, but i understand that it isn't that simple. I would very much appreciate if someone could offer me solid advice on what I should do now. I want to earn back their trust if i can and help them feel better and more relaxed. I am ashamed of my action but i want to do something, anything to help them feel better. I have not contacted the man since telling my father, whom i told a week after my mother. I believe that the man was a good man but I don't want to contact him any time soon, at the very least until i am out of college, so like 6 to 10 years from now. I believe my parents will press charges against him. please and thank you so much. (link)
|
Its true your parents could press charges. I think you already know that since that wasn't your question.
It is very hard to earn trust back once it is lost. You will never have quite the same relationship with your parents that you had before all this happened. That isn't necessarily a bad thing.
In order to get some of the trust back you may have to prove to them you can be trusted on the internet again. Stay away from chat rooms, or any other place where you chat and meet men. Agree to let your parents look at your internet history. Anything like that will assure them you are being true to your word.
You give up some of your freedom to roam the net, but you gain back the trust of your parents.
You can't erase the past. You don't have to live there forever though. Move on and don't repeat the mistakes you have made. You're a kid...you'll make more! Learn from those mistakes. Allow the parents to keep track of your actions until they are satisfied you've learned those lessons. Don't dwell on them anymore. Take the lessons and move on with them. Time will take care of their feelings. Yours too. It will work out. :)

Welll me and my ex broke up in last october because he cheated one me with his ex girlffriend. We was in love . Den I met this boy . He was in my class . We started going out in december . We are goign strong for 9 months now . But its like now my ex wants to come along in the picture and idk y I let him . We are both in charge of the youth events in da church so its like we have to talk . And one day as we was planning something we kissed for a long time . I told my boyfriend because I dnt like to keep stuff from him . So my boyfriend didn't break up with me . Im so thankful but he said I need 2 choose between him or my ex. I dnt wanna be with my ex because he is da past . But I wanna cut my ex out . Well not out completely but I just feel like im not ova him . I lost my virginity to my currnet boyfriend and my ex got mad at me when I told him . My current boyfriend is very serious about realtionships and I like that . I just wanna know how can I get ova my ex . (link)
|
Just a note for those who will complain. Because this is your first question to the site, it isn't being deleted for using misspelled words like da instead of the. All future questions written like this will be deleted.
The quickest way to get over the ex is to simply stay away from him. Don't make him a part of your life anymore. No need to discuss your sex life with him, for example. Its no longer any of his business what you do or with whom.
It will take a little time, but, if you have strong feelings for your new boyfriend, it won't take long before you don't think of the ex very often.

okay so my lower back has 5 itchy, big bumps on it, underneath my arm there's 5 more, there's 1 on my shoulder, 1 on my leg, and 2 more on the same arm where there's 5 except on the top not underneath. so all together i have 14 swollen itchy bumps and i think they might be spider bites but i don't know for sure and i don't know where they came from they just appeared in like the last 2 or 3 nights, i haven't spent time outside recently at all, and even when i was outside for a little i'm fully clothed in those areas cause it's getting cold out. is it possible there's a spider that keeps coming from out of nowhere and biting me when i'm sleeping? is there anything else it could be? could they not be bites at all but be something dangerous? i just want to make sure because if i schedule a meeting with my doctor i don't want her to say they're just spider bites and there's probably one living in my room or something because i would just feel stupid. thanks (link)
|
You should see your doctor or better yet a dermatologist. It could be anything from an allergic reaction to bedbugs or scabies. I
really doubt spider bites, but its really
hard to say.
Don't feel stupid. See your doc.
|
i have been constipated for a week straight
besides laxatives, do you know any remedys?
besides contacting my doctor.
thank you so much! (link)
|
Eat lots of fruit. Drink lots of fruit juice.
Eating things high in fiber will also be helpful.
Leafy green vegetables and beans.
Exercise! Its a very good way to help with constipation. You should also drink plenty of
water. Its very important to keep things running
smoothly.
If it continues, you will have to see your doctor.
If you've been constipated for a week you really
need to so you can make sure there is nothing causing it.

I go to a mental health counsling center every day from monday throgh Friday and I get up and go all day long and stay at that center until 2:00 and one of the counslers their died and i've only been going there for about 4 months now so I didn't really know her all that well but it's really hard on the other clients that are there how can I help them deal with there loss and feel better during this time of pain? (link)
| |
Just be a good listener if they want to talk about it. I'm sure the other counselors will do a good job of helping deal with the grief and other feelings. It may be a good idea for you to ask this question to one of them. They will be your very best source of a good answer. :)

My friend said he saw track marks on his girlfriend's arm... What are track marks?
Thanks. (link)
|
The official definition is... The darkening of the veins due to scarring and toxin buildup produce tracks along the length of the veins and are known as track marks.
As one who has seen them...they can also leave
small pock marks or dents, for lack of a better explanation, on the skin. This is especially true
if a drug user uses the inside of their arm.
Most people with track marks are very heavy IV
drug users. Unless your friend knows his girlfriend
is a heavy drug user, he should be very careful of
telling people she has track marks. It is very
unlikely for a young teen to have track marks.
Here are some pictures...

Turns out the guy I was with was clean, but I've been told there's no way to detect HPV in men. I do remember him telling me once he had some sort of wart on his penis, but it went away.
There's no way the first guy could have given it to me, because he was a virgin. I know there are other ways to contract HPV but genital HPV is usually transmitted through sex, no other contact. My doctor contacted me today and told me it was low-risk HPV and it should go away on its own, I'm just wondering what your ideas on the matter are? (link)
|
I really didn't know there was a low risk HPV. It must be one that is maybe not passed around easily?
If that's the case its good news!
I really don't know a lot about HPV. Seems it is pretty common from what I have read.
Get yourself some paper and write down every question you can think of that you may have.
Next appointment read from that list and quiz the doctor. Don't stop until you get answers. They don't mind at all. Its so easy to forget once you get in their office. Easy to get side tracked and nervous.
I don't think you have anything to worry about.
Question that doctor though!

i get about 6 hours of sleep on every school night.
but during around 2nd or 3rd period of class, i start to get reallly really tired, and i lose focus. I actually fall asleep while the teacher is lecturing. And once i wake up, i feel like a zombie for the rest of the school day. This has been happening for a While now...
how do i stay awake? please dont give me an obvious answer....... what do i do???? (link)
|
You could probably use more sleep but you really shouldn't be falling asleep in class with that amount of sleep.
I think it would be a good idea for you see see your doctor and see if something else is going on.
You could have sleep apnea and not be getting the amount of sleep you think you are getting. You could be anemic. Make an appointment and make sure
there is nothing else going on.

So I REALLY REALLY would be grateful for some help on this before I go insane myself.
I am doing a research paper about the Vietnam era and my topic is how war drives people insane. It shouldn't be too hard to find sources to prove that, since people in the 60's were pretty insane and im sure it had something to do with the war and something to do with all those new drugs coming out. Well my teacher says i need to find pictures and songs, not books as sources. I have one picture, but i need other types of media other than books that prove people were crazy because of the war...and the hard part is they HAVE to be printed in the 60's to early 70's. They can be songs, pictures, movies, etc. just no books. and it seems easy enough, but i cant find ANYTHING!!!! (link)
|
I think you are probably looking using the wrong terminology. I don't think crazy or insane are what you are needing. :)
A lot of people who fought in the Vietnam war suffered from Post traumatic Stress Disorder.
Perhaps because of the long tours of duty and the
attitudes of the people they came home to. Nothing like getting off a plane glad to be home and having people spit on you and call you a baby killer.
Here is search I hope will help you out. Good luck with your assignment.

I know this isn't about sex but i didn't no what to put it under lol.
So I think Obama should have never became president
I think hi is an idiot.
So i want to know people who did vote for him why you did what were your reasons?
Cause if you think hes ganna pay for your bills and provide for you hes not.
I just wanna know everyones reason for why they voted for him or why you didn't vote for him.
Also a lot of people including me, Think he manly won cause he is black and i think if that is true witch i think it is i think thats wrong.
My resons are because I think racism is wrong and if people vote for him only because he's black just means your being racist. Now you might note be but your basing your decision on the color of his skin i and i think thats horriable.
I bet if he was a white man he would not of one or he wouldn't of one for the reasons he did.
PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS OVENSIVLY IM JUST SPREEDING MY OPINION ON WHAT I BELIEVIE AND I WANT TO KNOW WHAT PEOPLE BELIEVE OR THINK. (link)
|
I voted for Obama. I would do it again. I have heard a lot of presidential speeches. I can't remember any other candidate who stuck with
their beliefs and opinions all the way through a campaign. He never wavered. That meant a lot to me. He is the first democrat that I have ever voted for. I usually vote libertarian but also voted for bush the first time around.
I don't agree with everything he has done but I think it will work out in the end. He had to do the bailouts. What difference does it make how the government pays. If he hadn't done the bailout, so many people would have been out of work that finding a job would have been hard to do. The government would be doling out money via the welfare system so people could eat. Instead, GM and other companies are still paying all those people. At least they are working for that government check!
Unemployment is high now and probably will be for a while. There are jobs out there. Corporate types
however think its beneath them to work at McDonald's. They'll get hungry when the unemployment checks stop coming in and get off their asses and go to work somewhere. The unemployment statistics are a farce.
The health care system needs major work. I don't agree at all with universal health care, but the insurance companies and the antiquated medicaid system need major changes. MAJOR changes. They have way to much power.
Let me give you an example of the insurance companies power. One doctor I worked for got
in trouble for this....
Say you are a young family.
You have a small child. The husband makes his
living as a woodworker. They get by but can't afford the high premiums insurance companies
want to cover a family. The husband makes just
enough money that medicaid won't help them out
either. The child has asthma. Now and then he
needs a breathing treatment just to keep him
alive.
With no insurance they take the child to the doctors office for a breathing treatment. The
office call is 65 dollars. The breathing
treatment had to be done twice and costs
over a 100 dollars on top of that 65 dollar
office call. A lot of money when you have none.
If they had insurance through an employer, the
negotiated cost of an office call would have been 35 dollars. The breathing treatments would have been about half the cost as well. God forbid they
should have to pay full price.
The doctor decides to cut this family a break.
She needs new office cabinets. She tells the
woodworker she will wave the cost of the visit
if he will make her some cabinets. He can get
wood at a discount and if the doctor can wave
her labor fee so can he! Everyone is happy....
Except the insurance company. Why, if the doctor
is going to negotiate with non insured patients,
what good are they? Thats just not fair to people with insurance! Somehow it is insurance fraud!
If the doctor ever dares do this again, they will
be off the list of preferred doctors. People
with blue cross, medicaid, medicare etc. will
no longer be covered if they come to her office.
In other words, you barter for services rendered and you will soon be put out of business.
Insurance companies have way to much power. They do need competition. They do need stopped. Doctors should be free to run their offices as they see fit. I hope Obama will at least get
something done about that. Another insurance
company to deal with probably isn't the answer.
I do get tired of all the Obama bashing that goes on. Especially by people without a clue. I think he is doing the best he can with the situation he was handed. I think he has the best people out there advising him on what to do. I also feel that
he is smart enough to use his own head in deciding
what the right thing is.
I really don't understand people at all. Do they
honestly believe he wants to fail? I think it is just the opposite. He has every reason in the world to want to succeed. I think he will. I hope
he will. Its almost like people are actually hoping he will fail. Maybe people are so beaten down by past administrations that they think failure is to be expected. All I know is I have never been so disappointed in the American people and their attitudes.
I did not vote for Obama because he was black.
I get offended at even the thought. Did some people vote for him because of it? Probably.
A good many more voted for him simply because he was a democrat. More and more people become sheep
with no minds of their own every day. One
reason is as bad as the other as far as I'm concerned.
I will admit, and I hope it wasn't racist on my part, that I stood in that voting booth and hesitated before casting my vote for him. I've
never before hesitated thinking that perhaps my
voting for the candidate of my choice might bring
harm to the man. Its sad that I even had the thought cross my mind. Thats the only part his
being half black came into play for me.
MCain wasn't a bad man. I simply did not want,
could not AFFORD any more of the same old crap
from the republican party. Had he had a mind of
his own it may have been different. He just repeated the same old Bush crap. Add to that his
choice of that ditzy Sarah Palin as a running mate
and he lost all chance for my vote. For one thing
I think she was chosen as a last ditch effort for the female vote. Wrong choice man! Talk about someone without a clue. The thought of her possibly becoming the president was more scary than anything else he could have done.
OK, there you have it. Early morning ranting.
I'm done now. :)
