Okay, so my friends very close friend needs help.
She is only 12, she smokes, and drinks.
I really wannna help her,
Because it's my friends close friend, and she's really concerned. Can someone please help me think of a way to get her to stop?
PLEASE!
Thanks a buncch.
Since she is 12 and its illegal as well as unhealthy for her, I would be telling her parents. They are the only ones who have a snowballs chance of forcing her to quit...at least for a while.
I realize you may not want to rat her out, but if you can think of a way to anonymously let them know, that's what I would do. [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]

You find it discusting & trashy. It's not too late yet. [ Daintree's advice column | Ask Daintree A Question ]

this works best if she is younger, so that she may look up to you, however, it might work regardless. You need to portray a positive image that looks like something she will want to emulate. Don't be all "holy" or "good" or anything like that, don't preach to her. Show her you're fun. Hang out with your friend and her more often, and when the subject comes up, influence her in the right direction by saying how YOU do things and stating YOUR personal oppinion. But make sure you explain well and make yourself sound really smart for doing what youre doing. For example: Lets say you guys are at a party.... just be like "oh wow look at those people smoking/drinking (whatever the case) over there. They're such idiots one day they're going to wake up with lung cancer and an effed up liver. It's so sad that they need to smoke/drink to have a good time!" and even though you just made an observation, automatically diminishing the "coolness" of those that are drinknig/smoking, you did not tell her anything personally. that way she can make up her own mind and see that its really not that "cool" what shes doing. You can finish with a casual "It's a good thing were all smarter than that". (include her in that)I know it sounds lame written out, but if you know how to say it, like using the right attitude it totally works! If she has any conscience at all shell think about what you said. Use things on her that you know will work, get into her skin, bother her without her realizing it, be smart. But whatever you do, do NOT say "this is hurting you i want you to stop" shell become all defensive and most likely wont. [ lalalaflower's advice column | Ask lalalaflower A Question ]
