This is the best site for information on STDs.
There are some STDs (like genital warts) that can be got at birth if the mother happened to have them at the time. I believe. When I worked at a doctors office we had two young grade school age girls with them (they were sisters), and I believe that was how that happened.
I think in most cases if both are virgins the chances are slim that either will get an STD from one another. Condom use is still a good idea because no matter how much you like someone...weather or not they are a virgin is an easy thing to lie about.

Hi, I'm 16/f and I was raised a Catholic. A really close friend of mine is like.. TOTALLY religious. He's completely devout to the point where he considered being a priest. lol, anyway.. he told me to read this chastity booklet called "pure love" a while ago (www.pureloveclub.com is the website for it) which I did. I was shocked at reading it. Apparently, not even french-kissing should be done outside marriage. I find this ridiculous in a way, and wonder whether any of this has a biblical basis.
My questions are: Should I tell my friend I read the booklet and give my opinions on chastity? Would it damage our friendship?
Secondly, and more importantly, is chastity really necessary? Is there anywhere that states that french-kissing out of marriage is sin? Why do they believe this? I realize that pre-marital sex is a sin, but kissing? Even light touching? Is this all necessary? I am against pre-marital sex (for my own reasons, not for religious reasons) but don't understand why they are so hell-bent against other things.
I hope I haven't offended anyone who is a Catholic. I respect anyone's religious belief, but I always question everything in life. :) I'd appreciate a totally unbiased answer. Thanks a bunch guys! (link)

I think if your friend wanted you to read the booklet, he would probably also enjoy discussing it with you.
I really don't think it will damage your friendship. It shouldn't anyway. Be honest with your opinion as I'm sure he will be.
I think as you do. Other people are entitled to their opinions of course and I too respect their right to have their opinion.
Its when they start putting down others for what they think that they lose my interest. :)

my best friend introduced me to this new guy she just started to go out with. She talks about him constanly. In her eyes he could do no wrong. When I met him he seemed nice. But later on he started to flirt with me. he told me that he is using her to get closer to me. He says He is just with her because she has a good paying job and she takes him out to dinner and shopping. In other words he is a friend with benfits. When I told her about what he was up to. People usually just don't want to hear the truth. Know what though? She did hear you.
She may be mad right now, but I'll bet she starts watching for signs of what you told her.
She probably thinks hes the greatest thing on earth right now. Hard to get through to someone in that state of mind. Hopefully she will soon wake up and see him for what he is.
For now, all you can do is wait. When she wakes up she will be back. If she doesn't, I guess you at least tried. I'm afraid she is in for heartbreak sometime real soon. :)

Nothing can be done about the ones giving you the advice if you don't file a report. The mods can't be everywhere so, it is a real help if you do.

hey i got a new job. and my friend margeret works there, shes cool with a lot of people. margaret was talkin to this boy craig and hes popular and he gave her his number for me to call him. so i talked to him online but i was too scared to call him. a couple days later i decided to call him but he didnt anwser so i left a message with my number and telling craig to call me back. but he never did. i joked about it with him and he told me he didnt have service in his room. he always asks me too hang out but we did tonight and he didnt even talk and just decided to leave after a while. my friend margaret says he likes me. why else would he give me his number. i called him again tonight but he talked to me for like 2 minutes and then randomly had to go.his sister's friend marcy said that she was talking to him and she said believe me he likes you he is just the very shy type today at lunch. i dont know what to do. or think.please help meeeeeeeee

You may have to call him and keep the conversation going for a while until he gets over his shyness around you. A lot of guys (and girls) are painfully shy. If you aren't, just keep after it and he will hopefully get over it soon. :)

i'm a male, over 20, alone as hell.
i've never been able to get a girlfriend, i've tried and tried.
it seems like some crule cycle with me, meet a girl, ask her out a couple of times, start to like her and suspect she likes me too, try to be there for her and everything, try to move things up a notch, get the "you're such a good/nice/fabulous guy, i just wanna be friends" routine. Then i'll let go of how i feel as much as posible and try being "just friends", then she picks up the biggest jerk known to mankind and i get to sit across the table watching them make out (TORTURE, for those who care). then the arshole will proceed to cheat on her, she's crushed, i have to listen to all the bullshit and cheer her up, only to find her back with the butthead a week later, then a month later he'll cheat on her AGAIN...
by the third time this happens i simply fuck off, cause she's still won't go out with me and she keeps on going back to the total jerk and every month i have to be there for her.
WHAT THE FUCK, girls always tell me what a "NICE GUY" i am and the friendship crap, but why won't they go out with me.
I'm starting to accept that i'll die alone and bitter, and am starting to avoid woman totally.
I just don't know what to do, i'm really starting to lose it with woman.

I have been told by some men friends that the best way to get a girls attention is to ignore her completely. They claim they get real interested then. Go figure.

ok my best friend (hes a guy) was hangin out with 2 of his friends. he said to his friends "swear to god not to tell anyone but me and (my name) banged last night" and they believed him! and they were aaskin him a whole bunch of questions and he didnt even bother to say he was just kidding. Why would he tell them that when nothing would ever happen between us? he eventually told them that he was just kidding but rumors coulda started off of that! why would he tell them that though when it wasnt even true? Unfortunately SOME guys feel they are more of a big man among their friends if they brag about what they do when they go out with a girl.
Some will brag even if nothing happened because it makes them feel like a big deal among their friends. Avoid this type when you know who they are.
Luckily he changed his story. You let him know he better not do it again. :)

I know this might not make a lot of sense, but I'm on birth control and I can't seem to find the information packet that came with it. I was wondering..are there certain pills in the pack that have higher doses of ingredients that prevent pregnancy. For instance, is there a certain color set of pills that are more effective than the others? (By the way I'm on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo if that makes any difference.) (link)

You should really wait 30 days to make sure you are absolutely safe.
All the pills are the same strength. They do have a few in there that are a different color (in some cases) that are basically placebos.
They are there to keep you taking them daily. If they just told you not to take them the few days you were having your period, you may forget to start again on the right day.
