so heres just a stupid question :-D uhh can you really die by leaving a tampon in 2 long or something? i mean i dont use them anyways but a lot of people say that!!! (link)
|
Toxic Shock syndrome can possibly lead to death.
It is rare and is usually the result of someone
putting a tampon in and then forgetting its there. Sounds silly but when I worked in an ER I saw it myself.
Anything left in the vagina for a week or so will
have the same result (you don't want to know).
Normal use (overnight is OK), just don't forget its there. :)

Myspace has been in the news a lot of late.
What are the possibilities that your parents have blocked the site or went in a deleted your account?
Just a thought.

For the past couple weeks or so, I've noticed that I am REALLY tired.
Even on nights when I sleep well, I tend to find myself in class struggling to stay awake or even falling asleep.
When I get home from school, I also find myself falling asleep even though I did not intend to take a nap.
Other than that, I generally feel fine other than headaches that feel like 'sleep headaches' - you know, the kind you get when you haven't slept.
I fall asleep around 10:30 at night and get up at about 6 every day, which seems like plenty of sleep.
Any idea why I may be feeling like this? Are there any medical concerns with this -- like could this be a symptom of an illness even though no others are present? (link)
|
It could just be a normal teenage thing. I'd advise you see a doctor if it continues, just to be on the safe side.
I would suggest mono but you don't mention a sore throat or anything like that.
I will give you the website anyway so you can check it out for yourself if you'd like.

It is probably just a hormonal thing or something but do check with the doctor if it continues. :)

Would you give somebody a rating like a 1 if for an example you wrote something to try to help the questioner person but somebody below told them the say thing but in different words? (link)
|
I'd give them a 2 myself or a 3.
The reason it was changed to show the answers to the questions BEFORE you answer is to avoid this very thing.
If enough people start rating correctly, perhaps people will read whats already been said and we can avoid all those repeat answers.
A few 2's and they will start reading.
Just be sure and note the time. Don't give someone a 2 if they answered at about the same time as the one before them did. Their answers may have overlapped. I'd give 15 minutes between same answers for dropping the rating.

20/F.
So.
I have kind of a unique situation on my hands.
I’ve always thought that people who looked to the internet to find love were pathetic. However, I think it may be happening to me.
I’m not really sure how this happened but two years ago I started talking to this guy on the internet. I didn't think much of it at first as we would only have short, uninteresting conversations and he lives 30 hours away from me.
However, for the past seven months, we’ve been talking at least once a day. We’ve never met, but we can talk for hours about nothing. We have a really great connection and he is probably one of the sweetest guys I’ve ever talked to.
He sent me flowers on valentines day and if I’m not online when he’s about to go to bed, he’ll call me just to say goodnight. For the past month or so he’s even been saying “I love you”, and recently I’ve found myself saying it back.
I know this may seem weird to some of you, but I really like this guy. A lot. We’ve seen each other on web cam many times, so I know he’s actually who he says he is.
Sometime this summer, I’m going to visit my cousin and he happens to live within two hours from her house. We plan on meeting then to see where we stand after we can physically see each other. We’ve talked about this a lot and we both would like to further our ‘relationship’.
My only problem with this entire situation is that I’m slightly hesitant to meet him. Not because I’m worried about the risks that come with meeting people from the internet, but because I find that our ‘relationship’ is moving too fast. He has the next year planned out for us, as far as visits and whatnot, and we haven’t even met yet! Every time I try to tell him that we should maybe meet first before we start planning when we can see each other again, he gets defensive and accuses me of not believing that we’ll like each other. He makes me feel guilty about it because even though I see myself as realistic, he sees me as doubtful.
Oh, and . . .
Please don’t preach to me about being wary of meeting people from the internet. I’m old enough to make my own decisions, don’t bother trying to change my mind. I know there are risks, but I trust him completely. However, just to be safe, we both plan on having someone else there with us when we meet for the first time. (link)

My advice is going to be for you to email dangerwench. I don't think she has her inbox on here activated but she would sure be the one to help you. Her email is dangerwench@gmail.com.
I know that her and dangernerd met online. I didn't really think online relationships would work until meeting them. They get along great!
They started out with the long distance between them too. So I think she will give you the best advice of anyone here.
Dangernerd would too, of course! :)

how much do nose jobs cost, and what is the youngest age you can get them? say 14? (link)
|
Most reputable doctors will not do that type of surgery on anyone under the age of 18.
If you had an accident where there was a lot of damage to your face, that would be an exception but most just will not do it if you're under 18.
They may do it with parental consent. But, I'm not sure I would trust one who would myself. :)

Give her a couple of days to let it soak in. She may be at a loss as to what to say to you.
If you don't hear anything from her in a couple of days write her back and give her a little more info and a some way to contact you.
You don't say how old she was when she got adopted. If she was very much younger than you, it could be possible that she knows nothing about it.
Hope it goes well for you and that she contacts you soon. :)

During the summer I work at a sleepover camp from Sunday afternoon to Friday evening. Thus, I'm not going to have any time to be online. I'll be gone completely for 3 and a half months give or take. I don't want people asking me questions and expecting answers. I don't want to get suspended, lose moderator status, or, put simply, have anything negative happen.
Is there a way I can go "on leave", set my account to inactive, or something of that nature? If so, how do I do it? If there isn't anything like that, what are the consequences (good, bad, and indifferent) to being gone for that amount of time?
I'll deal with any consequences of course, I'd just like to be prepared for what I see when I sign back on in September. Even if nothing will happen to my account during my absense I'd still like to do this as a sort of courtesy to other users.
I'm sure somebody on here has been gone for long periods of time. What happens? Any suggestions? Detailed, easy to understand answers will be appreciated. I have a tendency get confused easily.
Thanks,
sizzlinmandolin
P.S. I'll miss everyone. :) (link)
|
I don't know why you would be suspended. So don't worry about that!
If you aren't answering questions your rating shouldn't change a whole lot. I doubt that it will fall low enough to affect your mod status.
If it should then just contact DN about it when you return.
When I go on vacation I put a note on my column
saying I am gone. I will suggest they ask anything they wanted to ask me to anyone I have listed on my favorites list. My list is people whose advice I like and not just a "friends" list so I feel anyone there would be good help.
All that said, changes are happening everyday around here. Something is bound to change while you are gone. Lets hope they are good ones! Just
fire off a note to someone or go in the mod forum and ask what has changed during your absence.
Oh, and have fun at camp! :)

i have never been allergic to anything or had allergies. but i haave heard its allergy season and yesterday during the day my eyes got really watery, my nose was stuffy & i didn't have a cold. i know these are symptoms of allergies.. so do i have them? thanks (link)

It is possible. Only a doctor can tell you for sure. Don't take medicines for something if you are unsure. Check with your doctor. :)

Can you get an infection or disese or anything if you leave your pad in too long? (link)
|
If you leave a tampon in and forget about it for a few days you sure can.
Pads, I suppose if you could stand to wear one long enough it would give you an infection.
In either case the smell would be really bad way before you got an infection. So just for personal hygiene reasons you want to change it now and then.
Overnight wear does not cause a problem with either by the way. :)

Tomorrow is this dance. I will see my crush there. I don't call it a cruch though cause we both like e/o. Well, today my best freind told me she can't go anymore cause she is grounded. There is like a 5% chance she may be able to go. My crush is getting my ticket. I know it wil hurt him if I don't go. I really really don't want to though, I won't know anyone, just like 5 poeple. Should I just suck it up and go? Or do what I want to do? (link)
|
You shouldn't back out of a date just because your best friend can't go along.
If you really like this guy and he has already got you a ticket then go. You know him and that's all that matters. :)

okay so im 13/f and i have a problem. im seriously BUTTLESSS. and i mean it. abercrombie and hollister jeans like are all saggy on me...
and no i dont wanna STUFFF my butt haha but what are some foods or something that will make it bigger...
i already have big boobs. just no butt...and its not for the guys or for my appearance.. its for me.. and im not trying to make this funny..
just it kinda is.
thanks in advance for having the guts to answer this. =] (link)
|
There isn't any food you can eat that will go straight to the old butt. It will make you fat everywhere.
I'm sure you don't want that to happen so just try and concentrate on fashions that flatter your other attributes. :)

Okay, so here's the story: I left my backpack in my mom's car. She threatened to take it to work the next day (today). She always makes empty threats and never follows through. She bugged me about my backpack, and I told her not to nag me. When people nag me, I tune them out. So I fell asleep and forgot about my backpack. It's with my mom at work, and I can't go to school now becuase I don't have anything and all of my grades would drop for things that I didn't have//couldn't turn in. Do you think it was right for her to take my backpack?
I mean, I know that I should have taken it out of her car. But do you think it was right for her to take it?
She took out half of my other stuff, but she left my backpack.
And it sucks.
Opinions? (link)
|
I probably would have just thrown it out in the driveway before I went to work myself. :)
But, she said she would take it to work and she did. Can't say she didn't warn you!
So, yes she was right to take it. Not a good idea to tune out moms because they do occasionally follow through on threats.

I lovee my current girlfriend soo much! SHe has been gone for 10 days on vacation with her parents to Canada. Last night I had two friends over. One is an ex who I am still good friends with. The history on us? It was a short 1 month thing. The classic friends giving the 'somethin more than friends' thing a try that didnt go well.
Well me and her were laying on my bed and my friend was next to us. Her body was not close to mine..but i was resting my head close to her and my hand was on her shoulder. I was extremely tired about to fall asleep. Is this cheating in some way to you? I mean i have other friends that are girls who will rest their head on my stomach while playing video games..and it is absolultey nothin romantic about it because we are strictly friends and both have different love interests and 'types.'
My ex thinks it was nothin..but should i tell my gf about this? If she ever found out she would flip out because she is extremely sensitive on the topic of me and my ex. She finds it odd we hang out because we are exes. *keep in mind its not like i hang out alonnne with this girl* I have a big group of friends kind of and we hang out together kind of thing.
well..do i have anything to feel guilty about? (link)
|
If it was nothing then I wouldn't say anything.
Why possibly hurt her over nothing.
Now, if you are feeling guilt about it...maybe you are denying some feelings of your own?
Something to think about. :)
|
|
You just got on here march the something and you answered over 5000 questions!.. I try to answer alot of questions but I only got like 20 probably but anyways i jsut want to know ow do you do it? (link)
|
I am just here way to much!
Actually, I just check for questions every few hours. Answer the ones I feel I can help with. I answered a lot of them when I first started.
I can't believe I have answered that many. I wonder if maybe that's not right.
Just answer the ones you know for sure you have the answer to. They will add up pretty quick. :)

ok im 13/f and one of my friends have been "messing around" lately but i wont have sex with him without a condom. the problem is my mother stil thinks im a virgin. i dont know how to get birth control or condoms without my mom finding out. in the area i live in there is only 2 small gas stations around which both carry condoms but i have a feeling my mom would find out about me buying them, i wouldnt be so worried about her finding out if the guy was 16. i have had sex with him before and ended up missing my period for 2 months! are there any ideas on how to get protection?
please help soon! i rate well! (link)
|
If you are in a small town and 13 you can bet your mom will hear all about it. 13 is much to young to be having sex but I will spare you the lecture.
If the boy is 16 I'd be making him buy the condoms. No condom, no sex. :)

I think I'm going gothic and I'm terrified of what's becoming of me. I dress like it now and I listen to the music. I LOVE the music and I HATE the rap. The only thing is I'm scared. I don't want to be one of those suicidal people that everyone is scared of but I can't go back to being a prep because then I wouldn't be myself. What do I do!? (link)
|
Listening to a certain kind of music or dressing different from everyone else isn't going to make you suicidal.
Listen to what you want to. All teens go through bouts of depression. Its normal.
Just enjoy the music, it doesn't take you over or anything like some wackos think it does.
I have been listening to rock music for ages. I haven't had any ill affects from it. :)

does your vagina need to clean itself out while on depo. someone told me is has to but i was told that it thins the lining and you don't release an egg, therefore there is nothing to clean out of there. which is true. i was told that i should stop taking it so it can clean itself out. i already know about not being on it too long because of bone density loss, but what is the deal with how does it clean itself out? (link)
|
I've not heard that story.
Your best bet would be to call and ask your doctor or his nurse. I'm sure if something like that needs to be done they will or would have let you know about it. When you go to get your next shot, just ask the nurse. :)

Okay...so I was on this site and it had like how too's! IT was sooooo weird...they said that you can use an iron (the one you use to iron clothes and smooth out) to straighten your hair. They say u can't use it often (i wouldn't try it) but does it work? (link)
|
That's how they did it in the "old days" before all the straighteners and curlers came about!
You do not just put the iron on your hair. Cover it with a towel and then more or less iron the towel. That will help keep your hair from getting burnt up. It can be very difficult to do, especially if your hair isn't really long.
I personally never tried it but no those who have. It does work. Please be careful or maybe even have help with it...it is very easy to get burnt. :)
