Okay...so I was on this site and it had like how too's! IT was sooooo weird...they said that you can use an iron (the one you use to iron clothes and smooth out) to straighten your hair. They say u can't use it often (i wouldn't try it) but does it work?
xO_b_r_i_a_n_a_Ox answered Saturday April 22 2006, 8:59 pm: yeahp, some people really do that. my cousin did a few times. it fries your hair soo bad though because the iron is so strong/hot. i'd suggest you dont do it if you were thinking of it

isis answered Thursday April 20 2006, 9:31 am: It works but it is REALLY bad for your hair. It will dry it out, cause split ends and could even burn it. You would then have to wait until the damaged hair has grown out. You also run the risk of burning your scalp.
If you want straight hair it is worth paying to get some decent hair straighteners, GHD are good if you're careful, as they are very hot and can burn hair, but they are very effective. [ isis's advice column | Ask isis A Question ]
loves2shop86 answered Wednesday April 19 2006, 8:36 pm: well, yes this actually does work... but it is not a good idea all and i wouldn't advice it, unless you want to completely fry your hair and possibly hurt yourself when trying to iron hair that you can't see because your head is resting on an ironing board. lol... if you really want straight hair, go out and buy remington wet to straight straightening iron. it works sooo soo well and gets rid of friz as well! it's amazing and it's only like 30 bucks at wal mart! not to mention that you can use it on wet hair and dry and straighten it at once (though i don't do it because it takes too long)!! :) [ loves2shop86's advice column | Ask loves2shop86 A Question ]
DancinCutie08 answered Wednesday April 19 2006, 8:22 pm: it works very well but its a very bad idea.. that is like 10x the heat that you need on your hair and can burn it so bad that your hair will fall out.. i would say if you plan on doing it do it at most once a month! karenR answered Wednesday April 19 2006, 7:48 pm: That's how they did it in the "old days" before all the straighteners and curlers came about!
You do not just put the iron on your hair. Cover it with a towel and then more or less iron the towel. That will help keep your hair from getting burnt up. It can be very difficult to do, especially if your hair isn't really long.
I personally never tried it but no those who have. It does work. Please be careful or maybe even have help with it...it is very easy to get burnt. :) [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]
AmmoniaImmunity answered Wednesday April 19 2006, 7:07 pm: Yeah man, it totally works, if you need something to show you how to do it, go to your local blockbuster or whoever has a better selections of movies and watch Cherish. It's a pretty sweet movie, but it has a part in it where she straightens her hair with a clothes iron.
shygirl66 answered Wednesday April 19 2006, 6:54 pm: I think they mean a FLAT IRON, did they specicy that it was a clothes iron? If they just said, "You can use an iron to straighten your hair," they probably meant flat iron. No, using a clothes iron doesn't work, it gets too hot and it would burn your hair. Trust me, I've accedentily grabbed one while it was on...
Pheobe answered Wednesday April 19 2006, 6:03 pm: it does work ... but its so bad for you hair and its also a lot harder to use but often it give you better results
BRUNETTE__BABiE__CAKESZ answered Wednesday April 19 2006, 6:00 pm: hey, yes it does work! my friend kelsey always straightens it with a straightener first and then go over her hair with the clothes iron. if your trying to straighten your whole head of hair wiht a clothes iron thats not going to work. but if you want to do like a strand of hair or just run over it, its fine to use! cait♥ [ BRUNETTE__BABiE__CAKESZ's advice column | Ask BRUNETTE__BABiE__CAKESZ A Question ]
