about

:.Hey x3
My name is Emily and blah blah blah.

:.I have a lot of personal, family, and friend issues of my own so a lot of times, I can probably relate to you a lot of times if you have personal, family, and/or friend issues.

:.I can offer a lot of information, help, and advice on family and friend relationships, love lives, depression, stretching/flexibility, weight loss, violin, being organized, dog training, forensics (public speaking), keeping up with school/extracurricular activities, eating disorders, writing (stories and poems), and probably a lot of other random stuff like what to drink when you eat something spicy and why.

:.Although I can help a lot of you guys on the above subjects, I don't tend to take my own advice so it can become quite an awkward/ironic/contradicting situation for me or make myself sound like a complete and utter hypocrite.

:.Hannah Whitall Smith once said, "The true secret of giving advice is, after you have honestly given it, to be perfectly indifferent whether it is taken or not, and never persist in trying to set people right." I agree 100% of it. Advice is advice and it is given when asked for. I give it and I leave it at that. It's up to the questioner/advice seeker to take it.

:.That point leads onto my philosophies in advice giving:
1. Advice is given when asked and no time else, unless your friend is about to irritate a black bear, then you should definitely advice your friend to back away and run for his or her life.
2. Advice is not critical, not judgmental, and definitely not biased. Advice is advice and should remain neutral.
3. Advice is to help, not to get 5s on every answer. As a result, my advice ends up being quite blunt and frank with a hint of rambling mixed in.

If you have general questions on the topics I can be a lot of help in (as listed above), most likely, they will be in my FORUM

If it is not, you can inbox me to request me to put it up.

:.If you want to ask me a question directly...
a)if it is not urgent and can wait a week or so, inbox me.
b)if it is an urgent question such as "I'm being eaten by a shark! What do I do???" first of all, I'm quite amazed that you can type while being eaten and second of all, e-mail me at cancel.life@gmail.com. I will answer you by midnight of that day (or if it's 11:55PM, probably by 3PM the following day).

advice

okay im not fat or skinny i juss got a lil baby fat that if i get taller it'll go away buh for the mean while

should i do sit-ups and reps? also should i run to lose the baby fat?

and you think i can get sknny or start growing abs in 1 month ???

Well, frankly curl ups won't help much if you have a certain amount of fat in that area.

I suggest you start off by running, and combine that with curl ups. Than you'll see really great results if you commit. Remember, exercise isn't everything. Eating healthy is also a very important part to getting in shape.

And about getting skinny and getting abs, I'm not sure how much baby fat you have. So it all depends. But my bet is that it may take a little longer than that. But if you work really hard, what's not to be possible =]

Good luck

[view]

hi, i saw that you have answered questions about being in shape before. Can you help me?
i'm 5'4 and weigh 140lbs. shouldn't i be like 125 or something?
can you give me a safe way to diet. I'm a vegetarian too, if that helps.

thank you!

Of course. I'm a vegetarian, too so I guess it's easier for me =]

So, for your height, the average weight is around 120lbs [100lbs for 5', 105lbs for 5'1", add 5 pounds to each inch] It can be a few pounds above or below, it really doesn't matter that much. Plus, you should be looking at your BMI, making sure you're in the right range. After that, you shouldn't pay too much attention to the scale because when you workout and exercise, you gain muscle weight, which weighs more than fat. So bring out that tape measure. Also, while on the topic of scales, well sort of anyway..erm, yeah measure your weight right after you use the bathroom after you wake up. I know it seems silly, but it's the most accurate way to measure your weight. I'm ranting.

For exercise, you should do something that works out your entire body. Running is one way to go. But you should start off with a slow jog and gradually increase in speed over the course of next few days up to few weeks. Also, when you start jogging/running [no matter how long after you start] you need to start out by running slowly so you won't run out of breath before you finish. Oh, important thing...stretch sufficiently before and after running. I usually run a mile every morning and walk one more. It seems like a long time but if you have your lovely music playing device, you'll be fine. You should start off with that because personally, I enjoy it the best. Other things you can do is aerobics and dance classes. And riding bikes, too. If you have lazy days, pick that day to walk you dog, go out and walk with your family and/or friends. Okay, I'm making this up as I go along so another thing you can do: jump roping, skateboarding, hula hooping, and DDR. Along with that, you can do other exercises. It doesn't matter when you start. But you should do it a little after you start running. Crunches, curl ups, push ups, pull ups, lunges...all classic exercises. If you have the luxury of going to a gym, you should definitely go.

I don't know the names for these exercises but here are the descriptions:
Lay in the position you would be in if you were to do a curl up. Pretend you're about to do a curl up, but instead of going up straight, touch your right knee with your left elbow and vice versa. Or lay in the curl up position, pull both your bent legs down to one side so the botton knee is touching the floor. Now pretend you're doing a curl up. You should feel it on your sides. Erm, get in a pushup position, hold that for 10 seconds, then get on your elbows..so it's like push up position on elbows rather than hands. Now hold that for 10 seconds. For your legs, you should get in first position [ballet wise] and spread your legs apart a little wider than the length of your shoulder. Squat down [back straight] then come up slowly. Or get in first position, spread your legs apart and lift your left heel up and down as if you were standing on your tip toes. You should feel it in your calf. Repeat on other side. For your arms, just lift weight, push ups, pull ups. Heck, gardening, washing dishes, and moving furniture helps, too.

Now that I've written an essay for exercising >.> eating. Since vegetables and non-meat stuff doesn't fill us up as much as meat does, we tend to find ourselves indulging ourselves with fatty foods like sweets, fries, etc. So make sure you get your protein, which helps with hunger control. Get the protein shakes from slimfast or the hunger control one, although I haven't tried that one. Erm, eat lots of veggies...okay, pointing out the obvious. Try to eat whole grain, multigrain, and those types of breads/pasta instead of just white bread/pasta. If you get hungry, make sure you try and limit your junk food intake. Aim for the lovely plums of apples =) Oh, a tip is to buy individually wrapped junk food, if you're going to buy any so you'll avoid eating out of the big potato chip bag and end up eating more than needed. And try to avoid sodas, even if they are diet. They're not good for you anyway. Drink milk, juice [natural ones that doesn't have much sugar in it], and lovely h2o. And tea...tea is good [green tea and black tea.] Also, when you go shopping and return with veggies and fruits *hint hint* cut them up into bite size pieces, and put them in individual bags/containers so when you're hungry, you'll be tempted to reach for fruits or veggies..they're washed and cut into pieces, ready to be eaten =) Try to maintain 2000 calories a day, too. Erm, eat portioned amount of food, and don't skip meals [it'll make you eat more than you should in the next meal] Eating snacks [healthy] in between meals is a good idea so you will be less likely to over indulge at meal times.

Tips:
+Sleeping for 6 or more hours burn more calories than if you sleep less.
+The colors orange and yellow and red makes you hungry [Wendy's, Burger King, McDonald's, what do they have in common?]
+Drinking cold water helps your body burn a little calorie since the body has to maintain it's body ehat and the cold water opposes that.
+Drinking warm drinks [water, tea] will help you feel full for a while.
+Use smaller plates so when you fill it up, you assume you've eat a lot.
+Don't eat in front of the TV...you'll eat more subconciously
+Turn off the lights to the kitchen after 8 so you won't be drawn to go in there and get food
+Brush your teeth after meals and snacks so you won't want to eat right after again...mint and food, yuck.

Sorry if this was uber long and much mroe than you expected. I'm feeling ranty today. Haha, erm, yeah. Feel free to IM me or something if you need more help =)

if you played spin the bottle at a party while your bf/gf was somewhere else and you kissed/made out with someone of the opposite gender in the game, would it be considered cheating on your bf/gf?

I'd say that it is.
I mean you have a bf/gf and while he/she is away, you kissed another person. It doesn't matter if it was a game or not because I'm sure that if your bf/gf kissed some other person at a spin the bottle game, you'd be pretty pissed off.

And yes, you should tell. Keeping it a secret causes more suspicions and misunderstanding.

My hair is really thick and wavy and in a bad way. I don't always wanna straighten it because eventually that gets boring and damaging so i was wondering if anyone had any ideas for hairstyling my hair type.
I'm a dirty blonde color w/ natural highlights
an oval thin face,my hair is about 5 2cm layers thick no kidding and my hair is short just above my shoulders and really wavy and out of control.
I'm having my hair thinned and done later in the summer but I just need hair tips until then and don't say mousse because that makes my hair thicker and poofy.

Um, well if you have thick wavy hair, I'd suggest you grow it out so that it's long, so that the weight of your hair will help pull your hair down [and flat] some if that makes sense.

Grow out your hair because it helps a whole lot with the puffiness. But until then, just tie your hair into a ponytail or braid it. Just keep it tied so that it won't poof.

I hope you all won't see this as a stupid qn.

When we're dirty dancing in a club or when the guy is grinding you, it's possible that he could precum, right? This precum will seep in thru your clothes and could possibly make its way thru ur vagina. I'm sorry if I sounded stupid but isn't that possible? I just wanna double check with u guys and hope to know more bout this.

Sure...it's possible but extremely unlikely.
It's like saying that pigs can fly...but extremely unlikely.

Haha, don't worry. You won't get pregnant.

I've had my period since I was 12 and ever since I've had it it's been regular. The last week of the month like clockwork. I've never been irregular before, but recently I lost some weight. About 20 lbs and now, it's no longer regular. It comes once a month, but at differnt times. For example it might come on the 14th of march and the 1st of may as opposed to comming on the last week of each month. What could be causing this?! Does it have anything to do with losing weight?

It probably is because your losing weight.
Great changes to you body will affect your period.
Are you doing a lot of exercise [cause for losing weight] or have you just grown taller?

It's probably because you lost weight so don't fret. If it doesn't get regular soon, you should go ask your doctor if she or he can get you on BC pills to make it regular again

is it true that freshman grade doesnt count when you go to college?

It's false.
Colleges look at all your grades starting from 9th grade [freshman year] to 12th grade [senior year] Plus, your frenshman year grades all count in the overall GPA

I have a really bad sore throat. It hurts extremely bad when I swallow and it's hard to bare. It hurts when I talk but it also hurts even when I'm just sitting doing nothing. I had it yesterday, but it wasn't bad. Last night it got really bad and had 2 glasses of hot tea with sugar. That didn't work. This morning I woke up and it was worse. I had a hard candy "cold-eaze" or something of that sort. It just keeps getting worse. For lunch I had pb & j on soft bread with milk. It hurt so bad when I was eating. I'm guessing I shouldn't work out today? I'm trying to schedule a doctors appt. Until then, any ideas? Also, what kind of soup would you recommend for dinner? I dislike chicken noodle and I don't eat a lot of soup. I like tomato, but is there any kinds with veggies or maybe burger? Thanks!

Um, the first thing that popped into my mind was strep throat...I'm not sure if you have it, though.

But, try and avoid cold foods and drinks...
Try and make sure everything you drink and eat are warm--if you can, that is.

But try drinking lots of green tea and eat lots of apples [put it in the blender if it's hard to swallow] But don't add sugar to either the drink or apple. You can put tomatos in the blender with some water [or juice or your choice] and make tomato juice.

Try tomato soup, cream of mushroom, or just try any type of soup you want to.

Try and stick with healthy, soft foods. Try steaming vegetables so they're nice and soft. I'm not sure if you'll want to attempt to eat a burger, though, because it will msot likely hurt =/

Hope you get better =)

i just got two new kittens, both from the same mother and they are sisters. one of the kittens eat, but the other one wont eat...i tried canned food, dry food, and i watered down the hard food.i don't understand why it wont eat.

Try different brands of food.
If all else fails, focus your attention on it's feeding bowl. Maybe it's afraid of it. Dump the food out onto the floor and see if it will eat. Try changing the bowl type. Like if it's metal, change it to plastic or a porcelain plate.

If that doesn't work...well, give it kitty friendly food until you can get a chance to visit a vet about your kitty.

Oh, this worked with my dog...he's naturally a really jealous dog so if someone says "I'm gonna eat your food" and pretend to steal it, he'll start eating. Haha, I know. Try it, maybe it will work.

Good luck =)

Okay my GPA after my freshman year was a 2.5 is it going to be hard to bring that up?

15/f

It will be pretty hard and you're going to have to work for it.

The most you can do is to take weighted credit classes, no study halls, and try and get as many credits as you can...but make sure that if you take a weighted credit class, it won't be too hard because if it is, there's not point in earning bad grades.

ive been bulimic for about 4 years now, and trying to stop. does anyone have some tips on self recovery? or anything to help me to stop bingeing.

I have to tell you that an eating disorder is hard to pull yourself out of by yourself. You need a strong group of people to support you and keep you on track. www.something-fishy.org has tons of eating disorder hotlines listed and you should definitely call them [Sorry if the site link thing isn't right. you may have to google it] You need to tell your best friend or whoever you may trust.

But if you don't feel comfortable about any of those above, here are my suggestions:
Accept yourself. Don't think about those celebrities whose job's requirements are to stay skinny. In time you'll realize that you're perfect the way you are and that you shouldn't harm yourself to achieve something that will kill you. If you have the urge to purge, go outside, sit around people and get involved in conversations with them. To stop binging, you need to control yourself first. Eat moderately with a snack in between meals. EAt healthy foods and what not.

No one on here is a nutritionist or get give you the professional treatment that you need to hear. So I really suggest you call one of those hotlines and talk to someone on the phone. Get further suggestions and ideas from them and go on from there because professional treatment is crucial.

So, a hymen is skin covering the entrance to your vagina, right?

Well, then how does menstrual blood get out if your hymen is still intact? Does it diffuse through it?

I always wondered about this. Sorry its kind of gross =/

It's more like a string of membrane rather than a flat piece of skin. Think of it as your vagina being an O and that your hymen is a string that goes through the O in the middleish

My little sister always gets the attention and love! I'm serious! My sister does something, I get blamed for it! Everytime my parents leave me and my sister alone, my sister actually bites me! Then when my parents get home, they bring something for my sister, but not me! Then I tell them what my sister did, but they say, "Honey, you know your sister would never do that." Then, my sister tells my parents that I bit her and punched her. I get in trouble! I need advice on how to control my stupid sister! If it helps, my sister is going to be 11 in 2 weeks.

She bites you...hmm, shouldn't she have moved on from the biting stage as a baby?

I'm sure that when she bites you, she'll leave a mark. Run to get a camera and take a picture and shove it in your parents faces and show them the bite mark[s].

Then just pull them or one of them aside when your sister isn't around. CALMLY tell them that you feel like they're being unfair against you. Tell them what you wrote on here, in a more articulate, nice manner. Just give them instances of times when your sister got out of something she did do when you were stuck with something you didn't do.

Ask them why they only get you in trouble for something you didn't do. Ask them why they believe your little sister while they don't believe squat of what you say.

Good luck and if you need to vent, I'm here with no lie =]

I never drank before yesterday but my friend had a bottle of gordans london dry gin and i took i big mouthful and swallowed it at once. I felt really sick and was about to throw up. It tasted like wood and my throat was all tensed up. I looked on the back of the bottle and it said 40% vol something. Am I allergic to alcohol or is gordans gin just strong? I did not throw up in the end. 13/m

First of all, you're underaged to be drinking.
Second of all, everyone has differet reactions to alcohol. My dad can drink up to like 5 bottles of alcohol before he gets drunk. But my mom can't drink a sip or she'll be sick for weeks. My friend, who is also underaged, can drink like there's no tomorrow and he won't get drunk much.

It's probably because this was your first time. But as a sXe kid, I suggest you don't drink alcohol. It's really harmful and it IS a legal drug.

okay so i like this boy but hes 15 and im only 13 is he to old for me?
he said he liked me and everything
and i always think about him does that mean i love him?

please answer both my questions i need help!

I don't think age should matter in a crush, infatuation, love, relationship, etc. If you like him or if he likes you, that's that and nothing else should matter...EXCEPT for when there's an outrageous age matter like a 5yr old with a lover who's 98. That's just...erm impossible?

Anywhos, no one can tell you if you love ihm or not because the way we feel love and express our love and what love means to us all differ from person to person.

It may be a crush or an infatuation or as you questinoed, love. But before you make an impulsive decision to say "I love him!/You!", wiat it out a month or two. If you still have the strong feelins for him, it's NOT an infatuation. It's either a strong crush or love. But you won't know which it is until time's ready to reveal anything.

5"1, 85 pounds. If I gained 10 pounds in muscle, how would it look different than if I gained 10 pounds of fat by eating cake and french fries and deep oil-fried Twinkies? Would I look slimmer?

Muscles--depends on which types of muscles and where and how you want to work them. You can look slim and toned or you can look muscular and toned.

As for the fat, you'll just loook fat and not to mention break outs.

So exercise and eat healthily.

I'm asian, small eyes. How layers of mascara and eye liner do you suggest?

Yay I'm Asian, too.

Well, to tell you straight out, there is no single way to apply make up for everyone. We all have to try this and that and experiment and go through painstaking process of removing and re-applying.

For the mascara, I usually close my eyes first and apply 2 or 3 coats on the top then open my eyes and apply 2 or 3 coats again [just quick, swift strokes]--moving upward in a curve. And I usually hold up my eyelashes with the mascara applier so it will curve upwards a little.

As for the eyeliner, it really varies from people to people. Black or brown is fine...sometimes I prefer a medium/dark brown color. Usually I put 3 layers on top and 2 to 3 layers on the bottom [again, just lightly. Not cram a pound of eyeliner on my eyes]

Anyways, if you need specifics, I'm here to help =]

Whenever I go out in public.. I kiss my boyfriend, like a few pecks and hug him. People always tell us to get a room..
but it's only a kiss!

Why are they saying that? It's making us look bad around everyone else. It's not like we are having sex right in front of them or anything sexual like that.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Yeah.
Most of the time, they're just joknig around.
Sometimes they're just disgusted.
Sometimes they're just stupid and jealous.

I think PDA is at one's own will and it should matter what other people think and people shouldn't care about what you guys do.
