I agree 100% of it. Advice is advice and it is given when asked for. I give it and I leave it at that. It's up to the questioner/advice seeker to take it.

1. Advice is given when asked and no time else, unless your friend is about to irritate a black bear, then you should definitely advice your friend to back away and run for his or her life.
2. Advice is not critical, not judgmental, and definitely not biased. Advice is advice and should remain neutral.
3. Advice is to help, not to get 5s on every answer. As a result, my advice ends up being quite blunt and frank with a hint of rambling mixed in.

I would like to eat more healthier and well i dont know what to buy when i go to the grocery store with my mom, like other then bananas and apples and grapes. What are some specific healthy things to get, fat free things maybe?,things big in fiber?. I just need a list of things,be specific dont just say cereal or fruits and veggies, say the kind of fruit or whatever.

Oh, ORGANIC stuff is the best. Make sur it's USDA approved, though, because a lot of those organic stuff aren't organic. As for the ceral, try to stay away from those commercial, sugary brands like Coco Puffs. Instead, eat cereals that are healthy for you no matter how disgusting they taste. [Raisin Bran, Toasted Oats, Kashi Cereals, etc]

how do you lose weight FPREVER? like if you lose a lot of weight and your happy with it then how o you maintain that copz it USUALLY goes back rifht? then youll feel pissed off and give up on your body how do i make that not happen? like if you drop 10 pounds how do yuou keep that and not gain it back

It depends how you lost those 10 pounds.
If you used the aid of diet supplements, you're going to have to go back to base one. If you went on a diet program [Jenny Craig, Atkins, South Beach, Weight Watchers, etc], you're going back to base one again once you stop the diet.

On the other hand, if you lost those 10 pounds by exercising and eating heathily, than there's a solution!

You need to eat the amount of your BMR. If you want to lose, you eat less. If you want to gain, you eat more. Look at "Lose Weight" topic in my forum up there.

ok this past year has been very streesful for me and i just moved to missouri from new york in the middle of my freshamn year and every since the move i have felt soo stressed. latley i just feel soo fat and none of my old clothes fit right anymore and everywhere i go i just feel so huge. I dont know what to do im trying to lose weight i exercise all the time and it just seems like i keep getting heavier. am i supposed to be gaining weight cz with school and everything i want to look good when we go back...

Moving puts a lot of stress over people, regardless of their age or gender. Especially in the middle of the year. I got so stressed when my parents threatened to transfer me >.>

Anywhos, the safe, healthy way of dealing with stress is to exercise and yoga! And tea. and a lavender scented bubble bath.

14/f. 150lbs. 5'5.

I really need to lose weight. Once school starts (in a week) I can't go to the gym anymore. I ride my bike around the neighborhood, but I've only been doing that for 3 days. I'm going to continue to do that too. My Mom made a deal with me that if i lose 20+ pounds then she would take me on a shopping spree. Shes even starting to help me too. Shes giving me these pills that are supposed to make me less hungry all the time? I take one before breakfast, lunch and dinner. I've been doing this since Wednesday. The pills work, I used to eat a bunch a junk food. But, now I only eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. No snakes inbetween. But once school starts, I'll probably want to eat a snake while I'm doing my homework or something. Im also starting to not eat after 6.


Are there any exercises I can do? Or anything?
I really want to lose the 20 pounds. and more.

Oh, and are there any exercises I can do to build my tricepts and bicepts (if thats how you spell them) Because, last year i was real weak, and i had this total embarressing moment in PA. and if I get PA again, i deff. dont want that to happen again.

The correct spellings are biceps and triceps.

And your goal for losig 20 pounds in a week is completely impossible and unrealistic. You should lose only 1 to 1.5 pounds per week.

I'm not going to get into it so go read the topics in my forum. It should help lots and lots.

when trying to watch my weight, what should i look for? in the beginning, i watched calories. then fat grams. now i'm starting to look at carbs, but i have no idea what i'm doing.
i'd look at everything in a health-wise way, but knowing me, i'd end up starving myself or something.
i don't understand the saturated/trans/regular fats, either.. basically if anything have 8+ fat grams, i stay away.
so, what should i watch for more? also, what should i have in each serving. example for meals, how many calories/how much fat?
and then same for snacks.

I was supposed to get my period on the 7th of july, and I never got it. I was spending the month in Dominica (in the caribbean) so i figured it would be a little off. three weeks later on the day I was coming home, I got it, but only for ONe day! I haven't had my period since june 16th and I'm usually pretty regular. I am average weight, although lately I've been trying to lose weight, but I'm definitely not under weight. I'm not sexually active either, so what's the problem????

-It's not regular yet

everytime i get my period, it's a week or two late. then one time i went on vacation and it was two weeks early. now im going on vacation again and its a week early!!!!!!!!!!! WHY?!!?!

You're period's just not regular yet.
If you want to make it regular, you can go to your doctor and ask him/her if they can prescribe BC pills for you so your periods will become regular =)

Do I need to lose weight? I've gotten so self concious this year, and I hate it, but I can't seem to make myself think I'm thin. Heck, I add weight to my scale to encourage myself. I'd always thought I was 104, hah..
But really. I run three miles, three days a week in the mornings. Eating habits are alright, I guess.. No soda, usually. I chew my food 30 times each (I don't know if that helps anything, but it fills me faster) and I drink ALOT of water.
Will this help at all?

Well, models don't have to be pretty faces, you know?
But confidence and self esteem is KEY to becoming a model. If you don't have them, you're going to be too shy to show it off or walk that runway.

I think that your sister, if she works on her make up and hair style, can be a very pretty person =) Have her try lighter shades of make up and try different hair styles/color. The wonders of make up =P

this september, i'm going to be going into high school. i have a few questions. - you don't have to answer all of them; even if you can answer one, i'd be greatly appreciative.

1.) what's the FASTEST way to learn the map of my school? - besides getting a map & memorizing it

2.) how do i not become nervous the first few weeks when i'm getting accustomed? [like when i get lost, etc.]

3.) any tips on how to survive at least freshman year?

1)Go to your school, and just memorize the first floor. Then the second floor. Or mark your classes on the map and try and look at it for a while. Then ditch your map and try and find your way around to your classes. Basically, you just need time to adjust. Also, try and find the quickest, most efficient way you can get to and from classes. Memorize different ways, too, just in case something happens to your normal route. It just takes some time. I've also learned the importance of looking at the map a whole freaking lot. Erm, look at the map, go around the school. While you look at the map, try and place what that part of the school looks like. But really, find more than one way to get to a class because you'll never know! Just try and go around the school as much as you can. Place what parts of the school looks like as you look at the map. Try and to and from classes to your locker to the cafetaria to the bus loop without your map if the school is accessible/

2)Oh my. I got lost when I went to the high school when I was in 8th grade for my Latin class [The schools are next to each other] Just remain calm, don't spaz, and ask a TEACHER as to how to get to your class. Keep a map with you until you've familiarized yourself with the school. And always keep a schedule with your teacher's name and room number with you. As for getting accustomed, it won't be much different from middle school. Just pretend like you're coming form elementary to middle school again. Your friends will be great comfort and even if you don't have any classes with them, you'll make new friends. Erm, if you have problems with nervousness, eat bananas. They're good beta blockers [they make you less nervous in other words].

3)Stay out of the bathrooms because you'll be caught for smoking. Keep clear of seniors because they'll dump you in the trash can. Avoid eye contact with the teachers or you'll get detention. Haha. JUST KIDDINNNGGG!!!

-Stay organized
-No attitude or cockiness
-Be yourself
-Act responsible and kind and what not to show off for teachers.
-Suck up to the principal of your school.
-Bring around quarters and dollars in your bag in case you need to make a phone call or you run out of lunch money or if that potato chip bag looks irresistible sitting in that vending machine.
-Keep your schedule w/ room numbers all the time
-Bring around a map until you're familiar with the school.
-Do not overload yourself with clubs
-Do all your homework and prepare ahead of time if possible.
-Stay organized. This is very important. Make a schedule if you need to. Organization is the key.
-Get enough rest!
-Have fun!

Freshman year is exciting because you get to start a new school. Don't worry about friends, making new friends, etc. It's easy and you'll have new friends in no time.

Everyone also says that upperclassmen [usually 11th and 12th graders] won't like freshies. I oppose that. A lot.

When I was a freshie last year, most of my friends were in 10th grade. I have 3 or 4 junior friends [all very nice] and I made friends with lots of seniors, though I regret it now that I'm going to miss that. Haha. But if they don't seem to like you, don't cling. Move on =)

Man, I wrote all those topics on my forum at the right time. 3 questions so far about exercise related things.

Rice: on the bag it says 1/4 cup [3/4 cup cooked] is 150 [white rice] or 160 [brown rice]. But if your main dish for that meal is the rice, you should eat about a cup of rice I guess.

Ice cream cones are not very helpful if you're on a "diet" Anyways, don't think of it as a "diet". Think of it as a healthy lifestyle you're adjusting yourself to.

I need help to lose weight before septemeber and i have acne that is really bad. And i mean really bad. I need advice how to get rid of my acne and lose weight in the time i have. please and thank you in advance!

As for the acne:
For me, becoming a vegetarian solved it. I had really bad acne. But right now, I rarely get them. And I think it's because I became a vegetarian. Don't get me wrong, I became one for animal rights reasons. But I suggest you try and limit greasy, meat foods. Or just greasy junk foods in general. And try and eat lots of healthy foods. [Cook them in a healthy way, too. Don't drench veggies in oil or something].

I don't think that there are really any products or creams you can buy to help with the acne, from my experience anyway. I can tell you that I've been to 3 different dermatologists, with all three prescribing basically the same things: Benzaclin [sp?] and Differin [sp?] Those two really irritates your skin, enlarge your pores, and dry your skin out. It just makes it worse sometimes. And they're really, extremely uncomfortable to the max. And I've tried buying acne products off the shelf...they just dried out my skin and gave me results that lasted a day. And if I used them for long periods of time, my skin would become so irritated that it would hurt to wash them with water at times. So what I'm saying is that don't waste your money on dermatologists. Don't waste your money on acne products.

Things to do:
Sleep early. 10PM-2AM is when your skin begins to renew itself and if really helps if you sleep during that time. So sleep in that time, and sleep enough!

Eat healthy foods such as veggies and fruits and try and drink green tea [organic with no sugar added] or green tea with aloe in it [again, get the one where you dunk it in hot water. No sugar] . Limit or avoid all together: milk [it does cause acne and it's scientifically proven], junk foods, greasy/fatty foods, etc. This should also help you with losing weight by the way. No sodas either. They're bad for you anyway.

Try and exercise. It might help you a little with the acne [and with losing weight too]

Try making facial masks at home. Some suggestions are:

Red ginseng jelly type thing mixed with water and a little flour.

Make green tea, bring it down to room temp. Splash your face with it. I know it sounds really weird but green tea is really good.

Warm milk, flour, and honey mixed together.

Do NOT under any circumstances do these things:
Wash your face more than twice a day/not wash your face.

Wear foundation, concealer, etc. Not make up for the entire face. Just eye make up and lip make up. If you do wear foundation and what not, wash it off as soon as you can.

No oil containing face lotion, sunblock, etc. Buy all face products containing no oil, that doesn't clog pores, and is hypoallergenic [sp?] Try not to put much stuff on your face unless it's oil free lotion or sunblock.

Do not rub toothpaste on your acne. It makes it worse.

Do not put lemon juice on your acne. It just irritates it and make you tan in that one spot if you go outside in the sun.

Do not believe the little myths about rubbing stuff on your face to make your acne go away. It usually will make it worse. Sleep early, eat healthy, and wear a mask for 10-15min only [Any longer than bacteria will start to get attracted to your mask, thus no good results]

how do you put a pic on your column?

Click "Profile Setting" on the left column in the box that says "Welcome, (user name)"

Scroll down and you should see a box with the words "Upload a picture" on the left of the box or something like that. Click the "Browse" button and select the picture you want. If it's too big, go to "My Pictures" on your computer, right click the picture. Press copy & open "Paint" on Windows. Paste it in there. Find "Stretch/Skew" on the "Image" button. Type in a smaller % than 100. 50 or 30 should be fine. Save it as something. Then upload that picture.
