does anyone know any good stores to buy Knee-High socks? like wild ones. Not just ordinary white, black and grey ones. Like with patterns and things of that nature. I need stores/websites of stores that are like .. chains? does that make sense? stores that there are in many different states, not like an indivualy owned store.

or any indivualy owned stores in the Providence, Rhode Island area.

Try Soho, I don't know if they have that in America but they do here...
Claires might do some too.
If not, why not tie-dye your own? Any light colours could easily be tie-dyed, especially white, and you could always buy fabric paint and draw on your own patterns.

K, so I have no idea what to be for Halloween. I'm broke and need something easy on short notice.

Angel - wear all white and make a halo out of an old headband and some tinsel or a bent wire coathanger. Wings could be card or you could leave them out.
Devil - wear all red and make a red tail out of red tights or other material. Buy some horns, they're really cheap, and make/buy a pitchfork.
Witch - wear all black, buy a hat, make a broom. Stick a cuddly toy black cat on the end.
Half devil/angel - wear white and red.
Fallen angel - wear all black with a halo and white wings.
Hag - get some old clothes and 'rag them up' (rip them a bit, maybe dye them grey or cover them in dust lol, sew on some patches) and then wear a big cape or cloth or something and put it over your head too. You could use a table cloth for this too.
Skeleton - cut out bone shapes and stick them on black outfit.
Have fun!

Let me ask you all reading my post right now: What is it called when you take a piece of a living being to create another living being? 'Playing GOD' right? We all know it better as Cloning! So lets speculate that a higher life form manipulates the DNA of a primate by adding their own DNA, or "creating them in their own image". Then they take a piece of their creation, lets just say "a rib" for example and make another one just like it only the opposite gender, (so they can reproduce naturally). That's creation, and with creation comes a natural side effect, evolution. Evolution is adaptation to survive in your surroundings. Please do not comment on my question if you are going to tell me that this is absurd. I have read the bible many times and have been a Christian, a Catholic, a Protestant and a Mormon. I have studied many other religions and they all confirm that God created Adam in his own image, God took a rib from Adam to make Eve. Thousands of years of history prove that we are evolving with every generation. So what religion am I if I believe in creation and evolution?

Hate to discredit the previous answer but you are not Wiccan if you believe in creation and evolution. You would have to believe in reincarnation, have an affinity with nature, etc etc etc, be drawn to magick...Wiccans do not believe in creation or evolution as such. There is no part of that religion which says 'believe in that', but nor does it say not to.
I suggest you look into several religions and see which one fits you best. You sound either agnostic (where you believe in some kind of higher power but you're not sure what it is) or a scientologist to me. You know, that thing that Tom Cruise is? Look into it.
Don't try and put a label on your religion straight away...it's enough to just believe :)

I don't know, I'm big on dreams, and thinking they have meaning. Well, here's the thing. I dreampt again last night, and want to know if anyone can interpret them...
See, I met this girl online in June, and we are exactly alike. She has become close to being my closest friend. Then I dreampt about her...
My first is that we were in a small town in a rural area (Illinois was the setting, I live in NJ). She wanted to travel down the Mississippi to get to the sea so we could find an island and live on it happily ever after. Well, we started down it in the trains the Mississippi supplies (Yes, it was something made up in my dream.) Well, we went from stop to stop, and it was a small city, then rural area. Well, we got seperated in Chicago, and I was conducting the train. The city of Chicago scared me, so I redirected it back, and we made it back to the original town. We got off, she found me, and was disappointed. Afraid of her getting angry, I loosened my resolve to stay, and agreed to go back on. I was walking on when I WANTED to go to the ocean, and not because I was made to. Then the dream ended.
The second was much shorter. I, for some reason, played football (I don't in real life). Well, she asked me to quit for her, and I unwillingly did. She then left me for some other football player, and I was left in the dust.
FYI, I have no relationship with her other than friends, and I am male. Yet in both, I was going out with her at the time. And I have no desire to in real life...
What do they mean?

OK, the fact that you lost her originally could show how you are scared of losing her or you feel that she isn't a 'proper' friend because she isn't 'real life', she is an online friend, and you want her to be.
Conducting the train shows how you want to take control of the situation (whether in real life or the dream situation is open to interpretation). Trains in dreams symbolise moving on, meeting new people (the fact that you could be said to be trying to find her could show that you want to meet her?).
Reading the latter part of the dream, and then the second one, it seems as though she has the control in the relationship (at least dream-wise). The train could therefore be you trying and wanting to take control of the situation. On the other hand, in real life if she isn't like that and isn't the more controling one of the friendship, it could be that you WANT her to take control. It's all open to interpretation.
As for dating her in the dreams, don't set too much store on it. It's a natural thing - if you think back to basic human cave-man style survival instinct, all women you see you date. Your subconcious might just be playing on that. It COULD be a subconcious wish to either date her or know her better, but have you ever read Macbeth? He is told three prophecies and the only reason he completes them is because he was TOLD them. He would never have thought of being king if he wasn;t told he would be, so he made it happen. The same could work here - this dream could plant the idea in your head that you want to date her when you actually don't. So be careful :)

What do you say when a guy asks you out. I'm only thirteen, so things don't come naturally. Do you just say "yes"? But that sounds like when someone asks you to marry them!! I think too much about simple things. CAn someone help mee?!?! Don't call me dumb please because you're just stating the obvious!

I'll rate honestly.

Just nod and smile if you are uncomfortable actually thinking of something to say or you're scared you'll say the wrong thing :)
On the other hand, you could say something like, yes that sounds like fun, or I'd love to, or sure.

For a class in school, I have to do a debate against someone in front of the whole class. My topic is lowering the drinking age. I am AGAINST it..(con) I need to be able to talk for 2-5 minutes with GOOD facts, statistics, etc..about why I think that the drinking age should NOT be lowered. Then we are going to argue it out til one of us wins! I am doing this debate against my b/f! He is going to argue that it should be lowered. So I need some good facts that are reasons to be AGAINST lowering it! I am also afraid that I am not going to know what to say b/c I will get nervous and embarrassed! please help me out. If you need any more information please let me know!! I need help!!!!!!!! Any information you can give me will be great! (advice on how to not feel stupid/get embarrassed OR any facts about my topic..) thanx!

In order to not get embarrassed, try and pretend you really are just having a debate with your boyfriend!! Try and forget that anyone else is there.
Look up some statistics for under-age drinking (e.g. how many people die from it, or are involved in crashes because of it, get pregnant underage due to being drunk under age - in other words say what it leads to as WELL as just the usual affects of drinking). They are pretty awful. Look up as many case studies as you can (i.e. real examples and real stories of under age drinkers and bad things that have happened to them) of both under age drinkers and legal ones (i.e. George Best, he is an alcoholic and dying right now horribly, he ruined his career with drink, look him up, look at the horrible effects of excessive drinking) and try to really become passionate about the case. Make yourself really believe it - it's so much easier to argue it then. Could you really argue it if your heart wasn't fully in it? Slip some of these real-life stories of drinking into your debate, they might be quite moving or shocking which should get the listeners and maybe your bf on your side.
Say where it will lead. e.g. if we lower the age to 14, how much lower will it get? Will we soon be seeing seven year olds in pubs? (Use lots of rhetorical, emotive questions such as would you want YOUR *blah* year old daughter drinking and therefore at a greater risk of getting pregnant or being involved in a car crash?).
Good luck!!

I'll rate 5's.

eTrust EZ Antivirus, is offering a 12month free trial offer. I found this on Microsoft.com I was wondering if anyone every used this? Here are my questions- Does it work? Will it delete existing viruses? Does it slow your computer? Will it harm my computer in anyway?
Thanks alot!!

Hey,
I have never used that anti virus programme BUT I have just downloaded Avast! anti virus from their website. It is completely free and works REALLY well, it's fairly easy to use and works ten times better than Norton Anti Virus (this Avast picked up six viruses in 10 mins that a fully updated version of Norton didn't pick up in three years!). I would highly recommend trying it. It is free always, too, not just for the 12 months.

Okay I'm 13 years old and a female. Yesterday I noticed a small bump on my left breast, near the nipple. It sometimes hurts when I touch it but it also looks somewhat like a pimple. I'm really worried that this could be breast cancer. There is no history in my family of having breast cancer. Do you think it's cancer?

Thanks! =]

All advice is appreciated!

Don't panic. It probably isn't as at thirteen, you are unlikely to develop breast cancer :) Keep an eye on it and make sure it doesn't change a lot or grow. If it does, go to the doctor.
I'm no expert but personally...if it IS cancer (which is very unlikely so please don't stress!!), showing up above the skin then it is more likely to be skin cancer than breast cancer. Breast cancer isn't even noticeable (as you can't feel it) until the lump is quite big and then it is inside the breast. It's most likely NOTHING at all to worry about, but like I said, keep an eye on it. You should be fine!

Hi. I'm 13/m and my sister is 14/f. Last night she was IMing a friend from another state who said he wanted to have sex with his girlfriend. Then they got into a discussion on why it's right or wrong to have sex before age 16. My sister believes that she should wait until she is 16. I belief any pre-marital sex is wrong, and I refuse to lose my virginity until I am married.

Later in their conversation (I was being a little brother and looking over her shoulder) he said that my sister's boyfriend wants sex too. My sister said no, but the other guy was just like "ooooooo yes he does". Then I remembered that theory that all a guy ever wants is sex. Hence, the song Punk Rock 101 by Bowling For Soup: "She thinks that it's love, but to him, it's sex!"

I don't trust her boyfriend. I've transferred a call to my sister, and he really didn't sound all that great. Also, my sister refuses to let me meet him in any way. He can't come over, because I just can't meet him. I tried to IM him. My sister told him to block me. What the hell?

I'm afraid of two things: number one, does he want sex? Saying no is probably harder than it sounds... and number two, will this change her image of him? Will she be consious of the fact that he may or may not want sex? I know if I were in her shoes, I would. I don't know... I'm just worried for her...

Heya,
First of all, although most guys DO tend to want sex, they aren't all immature and nasty enough to push for it, especially not from a 14 year old girl. How old is the guy? If he is over 16, he CAN'T ask her to have sex because even if she consents, he could go to jail for two years for statutory rape.
You can still email this guy if you really want to talk to him...
As he blocked you when your sister said, too, I think he sounds like he pretty much does what she wants! That means if she says no to sex he'll most likely listen.
Your sister's friend was probably just kidding around with her. If he is from another state then does he even know this boyfriend personally? And the fact that your sister is adamant she WON'T have sex before 16, even in front of her friends, is great. It means she really believes it and is likely to stand by it.
Finally, you are lovely for wanting to look out for her like this but please don't become the over-protective brother who she'll hate. If you play your cards right, she might even come to you for advice if he does ask her to sleep with him. I think the reason she is banning contact between you and her boyfriend is because she's scared you'll play the over-protective brother routine. Tell her you want to talk him, or to be his friend, NOT to spy on their relationship (you could even say you want to compare xmas gift ideas for her or something - she's a girl, she'll swallow it lmao).
Good luck!

well i was just wondering what do you do when you really have no one to turn to? when you grandmother don't care, your father is never their, you mom dosen't seem to understand and you sister just critizes you and you don't really have anyone to turn to? i just need some advice please help..

Hey,
I know how you feel, and have asked similar questions myself. I always get answers like 'I'm sure they care deep down', which is something I'm NOT going to tell you because I know how annoying that is.
The thing is, with me, my mother wishes I hadn't been born, my father is married to psycho who hates me so I don't see them, my grandparents critise me and the other set of grandparents just have no idea. What I'm trying to say here is that I understand exactly what you're going through, and it sucks. If you want someone to turn to, please come to me :) Leave some questions in my inbox whenever or email/add me at mitzirox1986@hotmail.com
*Hugs* It's never as bad as you think...you'll have good days and bad. Just keep on hanging in there for the good :)

I can't seem to get myself motivated to do my homework! I have a lot tonight, but I always just seem to think "I'll do it later. I'm having way more fun IMing my friend right now" Then "later" comes around, and I think the same thing. This cycle goes until like 8:00 when I have no choice to start my homework, but even then I get distracted. What can I do to perk up my assignments?

thx

Trinity

Oh, I'm exactly the same!! I have to do some homework away from the computer (maybe plan the homework out on paper) so I can't get distracted by MSN. Then I type it up or do research on the PC which doesn't take a lot of concentration so I can IM at the same time!
The thing is willpower. If you are having a pointless, going nowhere conversation then sign off and do homework instead.
To help you, you could say 'right I'll do a page of homework and then I can eat a chocolate bar' or 'I'll spend half an hour doing homework and then 10 mins IMing', something like that :)
Music is proven to aid concentration, so keep media player or your iPod or MP3 or CD player or whatever on while you work. However this only apparently works with music you know, so don't use a radio. Remember to drink lots of water as a 2% decrease in hydration equals a whole 10% lack in concentration!!

14 female

ok so my friend and i arent getting along right now and i want to give her some space so at lunch im thinking about just eating with another one of my friends let her calm down you kno, but i really like this guy who eats lunch with me and my friend every day and im afraid if i eat w/ the friend im not mad at he wont eat with me anymore and i enjoy talking to him. should i just stay at my table w/ the friend im mad at or sit with my other friend and hope for the best please help im really confused and dont want this guy to think i dont like him!

Hey,
Yeah, that's a really good idea. The guy won't think you don't like him BUT he might think you're being petty or silly...and you don't want that.
How about letting the guy sit in the middle? On the other hand, he might actually feel 'in the middle' and get awkward. I think the best thing would be to say something along the lines of 'look, *name*, I'm not gettong on so great with *name* at the moment so I'm gonna sit over there with *name* for a bit while she cools down. I'm still friends with you so please keep talking to me, but don't feel like I'm forcing you to take sides'. That way you will seem the grown-up one, you won't look petty and he won't think you hate him or anything.
:)

ok hey, question for the girls. How would you feel if your boyfriend did something like this for you on Xmas. (by the way i am the male not the female lol) I get 2 roses, and put each in their own wrapped box. Ill say "when this rose dries up and dies, i will love you more," then give her the box and let her unwrap the first rose. then say "when this rose dries up and dies, you will love me more," then give her the box and let her open it. Then i will take a third box and say "when this rose dries up and dies, i will STOP loving you." and she will open the box, and it will be a glass rose. (for all the blondes out there, glass doesnt dry up and die ;-)) Ever. lol. what do ya think?

Well, it depends on what kind of girl she is - if she's a romantic she'll ADORE it, but if she's a feminist she won't lol. But I personally would love it!!

what are some well-known teen poetry magazines that I can submit my poems to? Can anybody give me a website or something?

Ill rate high.
Thanks.

There is a magazine that my friend submits to, I can't quite remember the name...I think it's Worksmith? I'll ask her and get back to you.
There should be a list of places you can send to in the Writers and Artists Year Book if you can get your hands on a copy of that!

Oh, and check out this website:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blast/writing/

It doesn't have any specific magazines etc but it does have a lot of help on writing and getting published.

Good luck!

I'm 16 and I've never been in love. I'd just like to know if anyone else out there has ever been in my position, because I really feel alone. All of my friends throw around the word "love" after having a 2 hour bf/gf relationship. But, I'm scared when I'm older that I won't ever have that one person to wake up and want to be with everyday! It like scares me. Had anyone else been in my position?

Me! I know exactly what you mean!
I hate it when people say 'I love you' so soon...they evidentally don't mean it!! I am sixteen in just under a week and I have never been in love either, in fact I don't think I've even LOVED anyone (other than platonically). To me loving and being in love are two very different things as well. I am a firm believer that you should never say 'I love you' until you are absolutely 100% sure that you do...so many people need to learn the difference between holding hands and falling in love!
You will find someone to fall in love with eventually. You have your head screwed on and there will be many guys (I am assuming you're a girl) who appreciate that. Right now though, they're just immature and petty. Don't give up - you will find someone you cna really love soon!

heya! around the years between 1814 and 1899 people said age like three and twenty meaning 23 but does anyone know what year that changed it would help my english course work! thanks! xXx

Hey,
I'm sorry, I don't know the exact year and it would be very hard to pinpoint as it won't have just STOPPED being used, it would have faded out. If you're British (as I asumme by the fact that you're doing coursework) then you are probably best simply saying 'pre-1914' for the time that they used words like that, as the English syllabus is generally divided into pre and post 1914. What is your coursework actually on? Send one to my inbox if you need some more help, sorry I couldn't help much here!

In Drama, we have to write and perform a two minute monologue in front of the whole class next Tuesday. I'm not worried about performing it, but I have no ideas at all on the subject. It can be on anything, you have to "get into the head of a character" and perform the monologue in the first person. Thanks in advance

How about a fairy tale from another perspective? That might sound odd, but hear me out...
We did some really funny stuff with this in my Drama class. Basically, you were a character in a fairy tale but you made it modern and you performed a monologue as that character, showing a different point of view. I was the evil Step Mother from Snow White and I ranted about how I fed up of being portrayed as the bad guy, etc etc. Other characters in ours were dwarves ('we're VERTICALLY CHALLENGED, how many times do we have to TELL you?!'), Snow White herself, the Prince etc etc. This works with any fairy tale and can be VERY funny! It's also good for really getting inside the head of a character and showing another side to an originally 2D person.
It really depends on what you act best at. Can you do sadness well? Or are you best at acting hyper? Invent a person who fits how you act and then give them a background...and voila! you have a whole story with which to write a monologue from :)

I have had really bad razor bumps under my armpits for awhile now. I have tried everything! I use shaving cream, I have used creams, I have tried different types of razors. I dont know what else to do they're embarrassing. Please help!

Don't use deodorant (especially not spray deodorant) straight after shaving, try and do it at night or something so you won't have to put it on straight away. Infact use roll on deo instead of spray, it's kinder on your skin. Only shave when you really need to (i.e. when you are wearing a top with no sleeves) so youthe bumps can 'calm down'. Try hair removal cream (but not for about three days after you last shaved or it'll burn and sting) or waxing (painful but worth a try!). Finally, see if you can buy Dove deodorant or another similar brand with moisturisor in it to help! Good luck :)

Well this is my problem. I have this friend who I use to have TONS of things in common with, but now that we are older we don't share as many interests anymore. I still love my friend to death, but we're not the same people we use to be. So what should I do. I rate high!

You can like different things and still be best friends! Everyone likes the same things as children, especially little girls - anything pink and fluffy, and lots of cheesey music! But once you get older you start to develop your own tastes and become your own person. In my group of friends, the four of us are SO radically different - but that's what makes life interesting! It'd be very boring if we were all the same. Just keep talking to her (I'm presuming you're both girls, sorry if I got that wrong), try and talk to her about her interests a bit too...and if she doesn't want to respond, then leave it. Sometimes, much as it hurts, people just grow up and grow apart.

Hi ok f/13

so i got braces this summer and since them they have had to fix 4 braces that came off. Now he yelled at me and said this was very uncommon and that i was doing it it was noithng he did. Now i have an appoitment and for more of my braces came of in like a half year period is this noraml. im scared to go bac hes gonna yell alot! please help

Ooh don't worry!! Mine did it all the time, I began to think I was cursed or something!! The wire kept coming out of the brackets at the back. It's because your teeth are moving so much (and also my ortho is crap lol) I've had mine on for a year and a half now and after about 4 months they stopped doing it. In the meantime you can ask to change orthodontist or be seen by another one, or say a friend told you the same thing happened to them and it's because your teeth move so quick :) Whatever happens, DON'T let him yell at you! Tell your parents, they shouldn't stand for it. It's horrible and you shouldn't have to put up with it!!
Best of luck, and see if you can get some 'braces wax' too...you can put it on the wire at the back when it sticks out and stuff so it doesn't hurt until you can get another appointment :)
