A few thoughts I've gathered from my teenage years (and being on this site for most of them!):
1. If you Google song lyrics, the song will come up 99% of the time.
2. Dress to fit your body type, and buy the size that fits. If you're a size 6, squeezing into a 4 won't make you look skinnier. It makes you look fat when you aren't.
3. You will never regret waiting to lose your virginity.
4. There is such a thing as a stupid question, but we're all allowed to ask them.

It means he wants a hug. He could like you, but lots of guys just like getting hugs from girls, haha. Don't overanalyze it & just give him a hug when you see him again, hugs are great =]

ive been dating my boyfriend for a year.
weve gone kinda far in bed... our pants have stayed on though. well i accidentally gave him a hicki and my parents freaked. i told them i had never kissed his neck before and i wanted to see what it was like... and it was an accident. *lie i know* i got in a ton of trouble. my mom started yelling and crying... but seriously im 15... she shouldnt really care about a hicki. my parents are thinking about making me break up with my boyfriend even though im completely in love with him. i just need help. :)

Well obviously, they're losing their trust in you because you're lying to them. Apologize for lying and be honest with them. They're going to find out sooner or later, so you might as well tell the truth upfront. Parents are going to be upset no matter no far you go, you're their kid & they're concerned for your well-being, worried about you getting pregnant someday, etc. They shouldn't make you break up with your boyfriend though- he's not doing anything wrong, but your parents are concerned that hickeys will lead to something more. Try to look at the situation both ways. Both you AND your parents seem to be at fault here- mostly you though, for lying. They're reaction may seem like a bit of an overreaction, but trust is a big thing to have with your parents, especially as you get older. You don't want to lose it.

I'm going to few cities in U.S. for trip, but do states use the same volts as Canada? the 110V wall plug-ins? because i want to bring my charger for camera. Please let me know!

I went to Canada and all my chargers worked in the wall sockets just fine.

Go here- http://www.advicenators.com/settings.php anc scroll down to where it says "URL of a picture of you". This is where you put the URL of a picture you want on your column. Upload using any site you want- tinypic, photobucket, you can even use the direct image link from a myspace for facebook picture [right click the picture, it'll be under properties] Save changes, and you're done.


If you upload them directly to Advicenators from your computer,the picture will have to be VERY small. You're better off using another site first unless you want your picture to be roughly the size of a postage stamp.

I really like this guy but he's so hung up on his ex-girlfriend. He has her on his top people on his myspace, he still text messages her, he's so nice to her and she treats him like shit that's why they broke up. Like if we talk shit to her he like apologies to her. He's like whipped by someone he's not even with they were only together for like 3 months. I like him a lot and he flirts with me but he's still hung up and I don't wanna be with someone who still talks to there ex girlfriend. What should I do?

They broke up, they're still friends, and you're complaining that he talks to her? If he was talking shit about any other of his friends, would you mind if he apologized? He's not doing anything wrong- he just wants to keep in contact with her. Not everyone becomes enemies with their exes, and if you can't accept that you may not be mature enough to handle a relationship with a guy who talks to other girls besides you.

You've also just answered your own question- you like this guy, but you don't want to be with him. Based on how you feel, you don't want to date him- so don't! Problem solved, right? Only thing is, if you decide to date a guy who alienates his ex-girlfriends just because they broke up, you may be upset if you two break it off and he ignores you. Just keep that in mind.

u see my parents have blocked my favorite website and ALL PROXIES known to man on both Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox.... so is there ne other internet i can secretly download?

There's always AOL Explorer, but wouldn't you get a lot more accomplished if you asked them why they're blocking all your websites? Maybe they don't trust you because of something you did, or they're worried about your safety online. Talk to them about it & ask them to unblock your sites.

ok my parents are way too over protective!!

but anyway, they put parental controls on the tv and blocked MTV and VH1, even though im going in to highschool now!!

is this unreasonable? and does anyone else's parents do this??

i really wanna know so i can stop being so mad about it and stop feeling so annoyed about my parents cause its really getting on my last nerve lol.

Parental controls are sometimes there by default. They may not even know they're activated. Ask them [calmly] if they can allow you to watch those channels now. VH1 & MTV aren't the greatest channels, but they won't like, destroy your future. They're OK shows to watch sometimes & by 14 there's really no reason that you can't.

ok. 14/f for the first time i shaved "down there" and i got a razor burn.. and theres like stubble, so do you shave up like towards your stomah, or down towards your feet? and do you have any tips?

Use a lot of shave gel, a sharp razorblade, go slowly, and don't do it everyday 'cause you'll irritate your skin even more. Shave in whatever direction feels comfortable & doesn't cause irritation- it's different for everyone & also depends on how you shave. Baby oil prevents chafing, razor burn, etc. Regular lotion has fragrances that can burn [ouch!] so stay away from those!

i need some advice. i am 16 years old and my girlfriend is 13 years old. i know some of you are thinking wtf am i doing with her. but i love her and from the looks u cant tell shes 13. im going into the 11th grade and shes only going into the 8th. we get along great. im just worried that i will get made fun of for going out with her and all. i dont want it to end and i love her sooo much!

People are going to make fun of you no matter what. Others may be concerned by the 3-year age difference. As long as both of your parents approve [if they do, you're most likely a decent guy] I honestly don't see it as a problem. 3 years is a bit significant, though, and a lot of people won't understand your relationship no matter what you say to them. I wouldn't let anyone else's opinion interfere, in this situation.

In addition to what Jack said, your mouse many need to be cleaned. If it has the ball thingy on it [not a laser] clean it with a damp cloth to get the dust out. Also try plugging the mouse in a different port, or just rebooting the computer. Mice can wear out, so if the problem keeps up, you may want to invest in a new one.

Fashion trends are just that- trends. They're gonna go in and out of style everytime you blink an eye. If you look hard enough, you'll realize that a lot of styles sold by different stores are smiliar, and don't change as much as you might think. Wear whatever looks good on you, regardless of if it's "in" or not. Skinny jeans not living up to their name on you? Buy a flared leg instead. You'll look better & feel more confident.


There's nothing wrong with reading magazines and wearing the tops you think are cute, or using the makeover tips, etc. But don't wear something just because its "in style", wear it 'cause you like it. Look like a martian in purple eyeliner? Don't use it. Does last fall's eyeshadow trend make your eyes amazing? USE IT!


In my opinion, a person has a great sense of style when they're confident in what they wear, and don't look like a clone. Their style is unique, and the dress in a way that compliments their body. They know how to buy basics that will last forever & match everything [$40 jeans from AE that'll last forever & create 10 outfits, for example, is a cost-effective purchase as opposed to $500 shoes you'll wear once].

Im a girl & i am 13 years old. I really really like this guy. Im head over heals for him, and i feel so good when im around him. heres the problem: he's taken. I know i need to just wait my time, but I feel that if i wait any longer i will BURST! School starts in one week...and him & his gf both go to my school. I would just avoid him, but i go to a private school with only 10 kids in my class. I like him so much, but i know better than to tell him i like him when he is dating a differnt girl....but when hes with her & im there i pretty much dont exsist. please help me. :(

If you tell him, don't think he's going to break up with his girlfriend and go out with you. He's taken, and they probably have a good relationship if it's lasted awhile & they're both 13-ish. When [if] you tell him, the girl he's with may think you're trying to steal him from her. She also may not care- you can never tell how someone will react until it happens. You may feel better about it at first, but things may get awkward between the two of you [or three, if you all hang out together]
if they all know you like this guy. There's nothing wrong with being good friends. It sucks, I know. It's happened to everyone at some point & you'll find someone who's available who makes you feel that way too. No use risking a friendship here. You're young, and you're gonna have a lot of crushes. If you don't focus on this guy 24/7, you'll realize that there's potential boyfriends all around, you just have to give them a chance.

why does it keep raining? has anyone noticed that it rains like every other day? does this have to do with global warming?

No, it has to do with the weather patterns around the globe. And the fact that there's probably a lot of clouds in the sky right now where you live. That, or planes keep flying over you and spraying you with hoses.


Global warming isn't a myth, but people freak out and hide in a bomb shelter when it hits 95 degrees. Stop worrying so much & drive a car less if you're concerned about the ozone layer.

Either ignore them or declare that stereotypes are stupid & untrue. It's no different than saying "Canadians only like bacon and hockey". You're going to find stupid and/or poor people no matter where you live. Doesn't matter if you're from the South. You don't have to be Canadian to like bacon and hockey. Plus, I'm mostly Canadian and bacon is far from being my favorite food.

Does anyone know how long hair straightners usually last if used on a daily basis?? Thanks!!

Your hairstyle will last unless it's humid and/or excessively warm. As for the lifespan of a straightener, it depends on how many times it's accidentally dropped, how hot it gets, and the quality of the plates. Salon-quality ones should last for years; I've had a Target one [Remington Wet2Style] for over two years and my biggest complaints are that the finish is wearing off the plates [bad for my hair, but hey, I can't find a good replacement yet!] and that the buttons don't beep anymore because I dropped it once :(

whats the best way to get hot legs??? like to make them smaller...i have pretty big legs and i want them to be leaner and tinner...like so i could weat shorts or a minni skirt....any tips for exercise..and food too?? thanks!:)

Eat healthy, use your common sense and avoid anything fattening, greasy-looking, sugary, etc. Cut out soda if you haven't already and replace it with water.


Running's always a good exercise for the whole body. It burns calories and defines leg muscles. Also do squats and plenty of stretches, they'll help with running and make your legs look better too.
