my sister & i have a chi. its the best! weve had it for about 3 years, and we use it at least 7 times a week.....then only problem weve had is that the sides sometime come out, but gorilla glue works just like magic! also if you have a chi & something goes wrong with it, you can send it in for 25-35 dollars & either get it fixed or a brand new chi. they are usually about 100 dollars, but you can find sales all over the place. i recommend goign to sallys beauty store first....best of luck :)

Your hairstyle will last unless it's humid and/or excessively warm. As for the lifespan of a straightener, it depends on how many times it's accidentally dropped, how hot it gets, and the quality of the plates. Salon-quality ones should last for years; I've had a Target one [Remington Wet2Style] for over two years and my biggest complaints are that the finish is wearing off the plates [bad for my hair, but hey, I can't find a good replacement yet!] and that the buttons don't beep anymore because I dropped it once :(

If you get one with high heat settings, and ceramic plates, it should work, unless it's unbelievably Florida (humid) outside.
