i earlier asked a question about doing 200-250 crunches a day.. nd people sed that would tone your body.. would that mean you'd get abs? and like a 6 pack?

The short answer is not neccesarily (or at least this isnt a good way to do it). First of all, and this is most important, crunches (or whatever) will only build muscle on your stomach not burn the fat there. You can never ever target fatloss from an area of the body, its humanly impossible. So, you might already have the abs you want... under a layer of fat. To lose that fat you need to get your whole body into weight loss and, eventually, your stomach will be affected (what your body targets first is geneticly controlled). Resistance trainning (in your whole body), aerobic workouts, sensible eating etc are the key, not more ab workouts. Now, even when talking solely about building muscle, doing infinite numbers of crunches is not ideal. Try for example varying with other exercises and/or using a small weight behind your head to make the resistance greater. Doing say 3 sets of 25 crunches with increased resitance will have more effect than what you are doing now.

Good exercise plan for what? You are only partially trainning your body, and even then you arent doing a good job. I dont mean to be rude but its the truth. Apart from a cardio, you are doing 2 abs workouts and one chest. This means that you will develop those muscles while neglecting the rest (shoulders, back, legs, arms, and so on). Apart from the cosmetic problems with this, it is also not a good idea to train your abs without also trainning your lower back. This is because they are opposing muscles and if the abs are very much stronger than the back it can cause improper posture and potential injury. If you are simply trying to move a bit, then just carry on as you are doing and add a lower back exercise or two. However, if you are trying to actually get a full body workout then the whole plan needs to be revised and you need more exercises. If your goal is to be slim then the same applies (remember doing abs workouts will not help you lose weight any more than any other exercise, and it will not target fat from your belly). I wont say much more at this point, if you want workout help just drop me a question. However I will say one thing, beware the incredibly crap fitness advice on this site. Most people here dont have a clue(and the answers before me are very much an example of this).

Ok, im 13 year old female and just broke up with my boiifriend!! the main reason i did this is because i like another boii!! lets just call him "bob"! all of my friends think that i shouldn't go out with bob cuz he is a player!! but one of the security gaurds at skool told me that i can be the one girl to set him straight and that my friends should beleive in me. they should beleive in the fact that i could change him. but they still don't they say it's because they don't want me to get hurt!! sooooo..... wat should i do?

Drama is so right. You cant change the guy if he doesnt want to. A word of warning here... one of my friends is a real player taken to the extreme. This is a guy that took two of his girlfriends to town in the same group without them knowing he was with the other one AND met a third gf on the way in. I was there, saw it with my own eyes. EVERY girl he has been with knew he had a "colourful" past and each girl thought she could change him. Not only were they utterly misguided but he played on it too. Each of his gfs ended up heartbroken and, more importantly, completely baffled about what just happened. In short dont go for the player, in fact, never go for the players its asking to get hurt. Almost by definition they have less/no respect for women. Thats my advice anyway, good luck to you.

"How about dem Lakers eh?" hehehe just kidding. What I have always done in those moments (and I mean this completely serioulsy) is to say "Boy! Isnt this an awkward moment!" With the right tone and conviction you will get a laugh and that will be the end of the awkwardness.

NEED HELP NOW!!

Ok so the other night me and my boyfriend had a talk about about porn and I asked him all these questions... and he told me that he'd only looked at it/watched it three times on kazaa... so I made him swear on us and on my life and he did, but then today me and his friend were joking and he said my b/f just had porn on his computer so i was joking around and I said I was gonna check his computer and see and he got all defensive and wouldn't let me, but then when I did... I found like 10 different websites on his computer... They're all from a long time ago, but still he lied to me! Do I have a right to be mad at him? especially since he swore on us and my life!?!?

PS: he appologize a LOT and said he was sorry and he loved me "so much" but I feel like an idiot now for believing him... I need help please give me advice!!

Of course you can be mad. Whenever anyone lies to you it betrays your trust and you should take that quite seriously. Now, that being said, guys have a bit of a problem these days. You see, porn is easy to get and 99% of guys really like it. The problem is we know that many women look down upon it for reasons we dont really understand. So, looking away from the utterly sexist and deeply insulting views given before me (such as "guys cant control their hormones"), you should probably be lenient with him because in his eyes he lied to save/ preserve your relationship. In reality he probably thought you were testing or judging him, not simply inquiring.

What is the absolute fastest way to lose weight? I can't even stand to look at myself in the mirror. I'm 13, female, 5'4", 140 lbs. Even if you don't think it sounds that bad, it is. I refuse to take off my sweatshirt in school, sometimes even at home. I know that starving myself isn't the best thing to do because you get bloated from not eating and that's worse, but right now that's the only solution i can think of. Please help me

The absolute fastest (and still healthy) way to lose weight is to do resistance trainning. Aerobics just dont cut it because they dont elevate your metabolism the same way as doing weights. Join a gym and get a weight trainning routine. Of course, you also need to create a calorie deficit and eat balanced meals low on saturated fat. It is extremely important you dont starve yourself or eat rarely as this will have the opposite effect on your metabolism. Instead, calculate how many calories you burn in a day, eat a few hundred below this figure and make sure you spread them out over 4 to 6 meals a day. This will help keep your metabolism working and will complement the weight trainning well. If you have any meals that are larger make sure that these take place before your exercise not afterwards (in general, dinner should be smaller than lunch or breakfast). Running, swimming or any other aerobic exercise is also great if you have the time and energy but let the resistance trainning come first. Ok well I used to be like really popular, like the most popular girl in the school, and im not just saying that. Like some of my friends who weren't popular were alway like i wish i could be like u ur so popular and stuff even some kids i dont no that well would say it. And like every guy thinks im way out of their league. But this year things have changed, my best friends from last year who i hung out with everyday barely talk to me anymore. We used to be so close like they would even call my mom "mom" or "mommy" we used to have so much fun together and now we barely speak to each other. And i used to tell a couple of them everything and im still friends with them but not as good we only hang out in school. but like now i hang out with the kids that arent popular and everyone says i ditched them and now all my old guy friends are really mean to me. My nest guys friend doesnt even say hi to me in the hall anymore I MISS THEM ALL SO MUCH!! i really miss being known as popular i no it sounds selfish but i had so much fun where i was before and now i still have fun but its different WHAT SHOULD I DO?!?! This is a very strange situation, and I want you to understand that, though I will do my best to give you some advice, this is NOT something I would consider myself an expert in. First of all, from your description, it does not sound like you ditched your friends, it sounds like they ditched you. So you might consider that getting back with them might not be completely in your best interest. That is something only you can decide of course. Anyway, have you considered pulling one of them aside and confronting him/her? Get them to explain why on earth they think you ditched them. If you arent the confrontational type then perhaps invite one of the ones you are closest to over to your place, our out somewhere. Figure out why they feel ditched and explain to them that it wasnt your intention to do it. If it turns out that they dont like you cause you hang with the less popular kids then I would advise that you drop them (your old friends). I cant tell you how to regain popularity because I was never concerned with it in my youth. My ideal situation was always to have a small group of very close friends. All I can say to you is that even if all this doesnt work out, where you are now may turn out to better than what you had last year. Anyhow, best of luck.

What would be a quick way to lose a few pounds? I can't do anything outside because of all of the snow, and I'm not allowed to run for at least a week because I have a concusion. So what else can I do like inside?

Eat balanced meals, dont diet or omit any specific food group but minimise saturated fats. If you do little excercise then you should reduce your calorie intake accordingly. Make sure that you eat a few hundred cals below what you burn. Now, someone wrote something about the importance of keeping an elevated metabolism (the drink water advice). Water is important, but your metabolism is also driven by the availability of food. If you eat often then your metablolism will work faster and vive versa. Therefore the thing to do is to eat many small balanced meals every day (4-6). The big breakfast and nothing else idea does not sound right to me. As for indoor excercises, I would normally advise resitance training as the ultimate weight loss tool (again because it raises your metabolism in ways aerobic exericse cannot). However, if you have a concusion than the change in eating habits is the way to go I guess.

Well...I have over wait legs, they make me look like I have 2 hips cuz there fat. Is there any way I can loose weight off of my legs fast? I am already in swimming but still my legs are fat.

I feel like a broken record when I give this type of adivce. Lol i should just learn to cut/paste. Ok, there is no way that you can lose fat from a specific area of the body. It is NOT possible, the human body does not work that way. We can lose weight overall but the order of fat loss is entirely genetic. Swimming, running, hola hoop dancing, whatever, will either 1- burn more calories that may or may not result in weight loss, which may or may not be from your legs and 2- will build muscle on the area. Heres the thing, these days everyone has to be perfect and we have built an image of the ideal person. In reality most of us dont fulfil this ideal. Some have wider hips, fatter legs, bigger behinds etc. You have two choices 1- accept your legs, probably no one else thinks badly of them 2- engange in a weight loss program that will likely thin you down elsewhere as well. I will stop here, but if you choose option 2 (which I think you shouldnt) then feel free to drop me a question for excercise/nutrition tips.

The only way to gain weight in your legs is build muscle there. For that you should do weights, its the absolute best thing. Here is a link to a site that had excercieses for each muscle group. http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/exercises.htm What you need are quads, hamstring and calves. Squats are an excellent way to train multiple muscle groups at once, and are also some of the best quad excercises around. Just in case you didnt want muscle and were thinking of gaining fat on your legs, let me stress that this is not possible. A human cannot control (despite misguided advice typical to this site) fat loss or gain from a specific area. Its totally genetic, all you can do is get your body to thin down or fatten up, but the order of where it is taken from/put to is not up to us.

Listen to me very very carefully so you wont be mislead again. There is a very very bad myth going around that humans can lose weight from a specific area of the body. Please believe me this is not physically or biologically (or whatever) possible. Doing crunches will not make you lose weight from your stomach, running wont thin your legs etc etc People will write and say "I run 5 miles daily and I have thin legs" but the running will only help their bodies slim down overall, not target an area. If you want a slim stomach you have to try to lose weight by changing your eating habits and creating a calorie deficit. Excercise in general is important, but dont just do crunches thats not going to help much. Once you start to lose weight Im affraid the order of fat loss is in the hands of your genes... sorry thats life and if anyone tells you otherwise they dont know what they are talking about. The only way you can affect an area is to build muscle on it (but this muscle will happily exist below a huge layer of fat). Anyway, as for training your stomach muscles what I would recommend is using weights behind your head when the sets get too easy. Also, vary your routine (this is key in most programs) both is intensity and in types of excercises done. You can for example do combination crunches and leg lifts, or inclined situps and knee raises). Rotate your excersises every few weeks and you will get better results.

I have a good friend (Amy), who've been going out with my best guy friend (Jon) for awhile now. Me and Jon do a lot of things together, we're always hanging out. This leads to Amy being jealous of us. Now she's saying we're "together behind closed doors", otherwise, he's cheating on her with me. We both think she's totally crazy, because it's not true at all. She's being super controlling over him. He's not just going to stop hanging out with me, because we've been bestfriends since we were one. He doesn't know what to do, nither do I. He doesn't want to dump her, because he really loves her. But what should we both do to help her realize we're only friends and that's all we'll ever be?

This is very hard on her I can see that. Nonetheless you have to sit down, the three of you, and explain what you just wrote to her. Make sure that you butter her ego up a bit, because right now it is badly bruised. Tell her how much she means to you, have her bf tell her he loves her etc, and in between explain the nature of your relationship. Tell her its not fair on you for her to ask you to cut a friendship off. You wouldnt ask it of her, and she shouldnt ask it of you. Also keep bringing up the concept of trust, remind her that trust is what makes a friendship. Have her bf point out that if she cant trust him now, the relationship will have similar problems later. All the while tell her that the two of you trust her and ask her to have the same faith in you.

I have a friend, who I met about 4 months ago, and now I've discovered all she ever told me was a lie. This girl lied about where she came from, what she does with her time, about her parents, and everything else in her life. I would lie to know how to comfront her about this without pushing her away.

Fiendship is based on trust. Without trust, two people cannot be friends, only acquaintances. Therefore, as I see it, this girl is not your friend. You are, at best, friends with the person you thought she was. You are under no obligation to comfort her, though I commend you for your kind heart. In fairness though she owes you big time and, if it was my "friend", she would have to work a great deal to earn even a grain of trust. Be very careful here, I have met people who sound very similar to this, and they rarely stop lying (often its compulsive).

The advice given from thisorthat is very good. Pay particular heed to the importance of resistance training, it really is superior to cardio because of its effect on the metabolism. At home (if you dont want to go to a gym) you can always find ways to do excercises where you lift your bodyweight, or better still get a couple of dumbells. Now, I would like to add a few points. First, eat many small meals in a day (4-6 is good). This will also boost your metabolism. Secondly, try to time your meals so that the major ones happen before workouts or periods of increased activity rather than after them. Finally what I would warn against primarily (rather than carbs) is minimising saturated fat. Avoid fatty meats, butter, eggs and that sort of thing. I have seen two variants of nutrition programs, one that goes primarily anti carb, and one that goes primarily anti saturated fat. I have always had better success with the latter. Whichever way you go, keep track of your calorie intake. There are formulas that help determine how many cals you need in a day for different activity levels (if you cant find one, get back to me and I will dig one up). Then, create a daily calorie deficiency of about 300-600. Then every ten days or so eat a few hundred calories above your requirement. This will also help to keep your metabolism from slowing down and entering famine mode. Hope this helps. Feel free to contact me if you need more info.

My heart has been broken by my best male friend

Honestly I think the right thing to do is to end the friendship for you sake. I have tried being friends with (in my case) the girl I loved and it was utter hell. It wasnt even a question of taking time off. At one point we didnt see each other for months but the feelings returned instantly when I saw her again. You probably want to be around this guy but in reality its very likely the worst thing you can put yourself through. In the end, you might be stronger than me, and you might be able to get over him anyway, but remember you risk running your emotions through a shredder. Oh, and so far I have assumed that he didnt do anything mean or selfish when he broke your heart. If he did, then I would consider the friendship void right there and then anyway.

Ok, need you to listen very carefully to me because you will likely get a ton of bad advice for this question (it never fails). There is no excercise, no diet, no anything at all that will get rid of fat specifically from your hips (or ANY specific area of the body). What you can try to do is to lose weight in general but only your genes will decide in what order fat is lost and from where- if anyone tells you otherwise they have no clue what they are talking about. Now, if you want healthy, permanent weight loss you need to slowly create a change in your eating habits and create a small calorie deficit. Eat small balanced meals, eat often say 4-6 times a day (this helps boost your metabolism), avoid a lot of sugar and saturated fat, and eat a couple of hundred Cals less than you need in a day. I realise that you dont want to excercise, but I would still recommend that you try to find a way to increase your activity level as this will make things easier (maybe walk or bike instead of taking the bus). Of all the drugs in all the world... Never ever ever od on acid. The problem with this drug is that the dosage is so small its dangerous to take even one dose. A small miscalculation on the part of whoever supplied it is enough and those mistakes are easy to make when you are dealing with such low weights. Ok, thats the long answer, the short answer is that its possible that 2 doses can mean overdoing it (though this varies a bit from person to person from what I have heard). Seriously though be very careful, overdoing it just slightly can send you to the nuthouse.
