Question Posted Monday January 24 2005, 5:43 pm

What is the absolute fastest way to lose weight? I can't even stand to look at myself in the mirror. I'm 13, female, 5'4", 140 lbs. Even if you don't think it sounds that bad, it is. I refuse to take off my sweatshirt in school, sometimes even at home. I know that starving myself isn't the best thing to do because you get bloated from not eating and that's worse, but right now that's the only solution i can think of. Please help me

The absolute fastest (and still healthy) way to lose weight is to do resistance trainning. Aerobics just dont cut it because they dont elevate your metabolism the same way as doing weights. Join a gym and get a weight trainning routine. Of course, you also need to create a calorie deficit and eat balanced meals low on saturated fat. It is extremely important you dont starve yourself or eat rarely as this will have the opposite effect on your metabolism. Instead, calculate how many calories you burn in a day, eat a few hundred below this figure and make sure you spread them out over 4 to 6 meals a day. This will help keep your metabolism working and will complement the weight trainning well. If you have any meals that are larger make sure that these take place before your exercise not afterwards (in general, dinner should be smaller than lunch or breakfast). Running, swimming or any other aerobic exercise is also great if you have the time and energy but let the resistance trainning come first. If you do this, you will have great results and the weight will very likely stay off. If you have any further questtions on this just drop a note in my inbox. Best of luck to you.

Alright...loosing weight for anyone can be had and even harder to keep the weight from comign back..Altho everyones body is different here are some things I think help everyone and hopefully help you.
1..Try to always eat a good healthy breakfast, eating a breakfast gets your metabolims workign again and thus 'breaks the fast' your body went thry while you were sleeping
2.. try to do sumthing to excersise atleast once a day. Either when you wake up or right before you go to bed are most preferable..It doesnt have to sum huge sweat pouring 2 hour long excersise tho..sumthing enough to get your heart pumping faster and work off a few extra calories that need to go bye bye..
3..try not to eat anything an hour or two before you go to bed. Eating right before you sleep is allowing the food you ate to just sit in your stomach and not be worked off in any form of energy, thus forming into, dun dun dun, fat.
4..make sure you drink lots of fluids and dont starve yourself...make sure you atleast eat three meals aday but WATCH HOW MUCH...and dont chow down junk food when you get home from school, try sumthing like fruits or even pretzels if you must.. (stay away from chips candy and chocolate)
5.. DONT GIVE UP..your not going to see results in like two days..it may be a couple weeks before you start to lose any weight..and dont totally chow down one day and be like oh well tomorrow i just wont eat anything..your body needs to get used to eating a lower amount of food consistantly..

HOPE I HELPED <3

Well, do an activity that gets you up and energized- dance, cross country or anything - just make sure its active and enjoyable!! Also, remember that when you weigh yourself that many of it is muscle too because muscle weighs mroe than fat. Also, when you get really hungry, and have craving for food, eat something really nutritious like a bannna or carrots ! DO NOT starve yourself, that is very unhealthy. good luck!!

Have you ever heard of diet and exercise?? Exercising a couple hours during the day, and changing your eating habits will work. You're not gonna lose weight instantaneously but it'll work.

Hey sweetie! I'm 5'4 and a little over 140 so yeah I know what your going through! Theres this really easy diet. Just eat your 3 meals, no snacks in between, no jucies/sodas, only drink water, and dont eat after 6. And excersice when you can. My cousin did that and lost about 6+ lbs in a week. Stick to it and be patient! You'll lose the weight fast. Oh and dont focus so much on what the scale says, because on diets your weight fluctuates. Instead focus on how your clothes are becoming loose! Also weigh yourself only once a week!!!

There is no fast way to loose weight. Even if you manage to loose 10 lbs in one week, that's all water weight that you have lost and you will gain it all back and plus some as soon as you start eating again. The best way to loose weight, and keep it off is slow and steady. On a good diet you should loose about 1-2 lbs a week. I recomend you count your calories, and try to stay around 1500-1800 a day.
