Hey Everyone :) I'm Kate and a level 2 mod on here. I've had this account since July 2004, so I've been on here since I was 13! Wow ... crazy for me to think how long ago that was. I will admit I don't check in as often as I once did, but being away at college, being in a sorority, and having a job when I'm not at school is very time consuming. I still try to help out as much as possible, and if you send me a question I WILL answer it. This site helped me a LOT when I was in high school and had a lot of questions, and I'm here to help anyone who needs it :) Feel free to write in my forum or send me a question any time!

where can i get cute myspace layouts??
http://www.pimpwebpage.com/
I have this wicked hard homework and its getting me very very very angry. I already have the answer but i dont know how to get it without guessing and checking.. anyone wanna help? the problem is:
The tens digit of a 2-digit number is twice the units digit. The sum of the digits is 12. Find the original number.
PlEaSe HeLp!
You have 2 problems, and 2 equations. You can solve it three ways. Graphing, Elimination, or Substitution. We learned this last semester in Algebra 1a, and we've reviewed a few months ago, and now we just reveiwed like last week for our exams.
You need to identify the variables. Y is the 1st digit, X is the second digit.
The two problems
x+y=12
2x=y
The easiest method is substitution because one of the variables is already solved for (y)
x + (2x) = 12 -- simplify
3x=12 -- divide both sides by 3
x=4, now you nead to plug x back into one of the other problems to find Y.
4 + Y = 12 -- subtract 4 from each side
Y=8.
Now just incase plug 4 into the other problem to make sure it works.
2(4)=Y --- simplify
8=Y
So the number is 84.
If you need ANYTHING in math I can so completely help you, I'm making a 96 or 97 out of 100 in that class, so just ask anything if you need it.
i need a summer job but im only 13 and u cant get hired without being 16 or older.does anyone have any idea of any place who will hire someone under 16?
Lots of places hire people under 16, the problem is, the minimum age you can work is 14. I just got my worker papers/permit today because I have bills to pay such as my cell, and I need money. All I need to do is get my parents, an employer, and myself to fill it out. I mean I can only work 8 hours a day during the summer, and 5 hours a day during the school year, and from 7-7 during the school year, and 7-9 during the summer. But at least I can work. The only places I know of that will hire that young is Chick-fil-a, and Sonic (I only think) and you can work at gas stations at 14 (but it makes no sense to me since working there means having access to things such as cigs...) But yeah, there are places that will hire young, but the minimum age of working in the U.S is 14. Now if you live in another country, I'm not sure what the minimum age there is.
Also what you can do is put up babysitting flyers, lawn care flyers, pet sitting/pet walking flyers. Whichever of those things you're capable of doing you can put flyers up around the neighborhood/street area (wherever you live) and then that's your way of making money for the next year.
Camp Councelorworklong hours, have direct responsibility for 10-14 children, spend atleast70% of time outdoors, and are expected to commit 10 weeks during the summer to their position. Explain how you would handle the stress that might result from this position, and how you would continue to be a positive role model for camp participants.
Well I have 101 ways to cope with stress, not many of these have a bit to do with being a councilor, but they are ways to relieve stress.

Ummm, well I babysit, but that's nothing compared to what you're doing. Allthough I HATE getting dirty, and muddy, I LOVE the outdoors. And every once in a while (if I'm not at school, or going somewhere like mall/movies) I'll play dirty games (that sounds wrong) such as tackle football, and softball (well you get dirty when you slide) and soccer (slide tackling and stuff) my fave sport is b-ball though. But anyway. being outdoors isn't too bad as long as you have sunscreen/sunblock, and you have bug spray (yuck... bugs) and you have everything you need. Well you say explain how I'd continue to be a postive role model, well I'm one of those people that no matter how bad/sad/mad/upset/angry...etc. I feel, I can still keep a smile on my face. It's a gift and a sin. For you, just remember no matter how bad today is, tomorrow is a new day and you make of it what you will. This probably isn't what all you're asking for, but I've never been a camp councilor or anything (though I'd LOVE to do that during the summer) so I don't have first hand experience. None of my friends do either. I know teachers that have worked at camps and stuff, but not actual friends of mine who I could ask. Sorry if I'm not helping with what exactly you need. But I do hope I helped even a little with the info I was able to give you. Good luck and have fun this summer! Be safe!
~~EDIT~~~ I just thought about this, I have a poster that hangs above my bed, and this is what it says.

hey all how will i know if my finger is broken likes what kind of signs should i chceck for.
Well when I just fractured mine I could bend it a little, but I couldn't bend it enough to touch my hand (sorry if it doesn't make sense) my finger around the knuckle was all black and blue, and it had a purplish tint to it. It'll hurt quite a bit.
That's what happened to me when I fractured my middle finger. Also it was super difficult for me to type and I had to type really slowly.
I am writing a graduation speech that is entitled "Looking Back" and I am having trouble finding quotes. Ineed quotes about choir, school in general, and friends. Please don't tell me to google this, I really don't have time. If it's May 10, 2005 or after, please do not answer this, you will be rated an automatic one if you do. Also, this is a dialogue speech, so if that matters...Please cite your quotes so I can credit these people in my speech.
THank you so much!!
I'm not completely sure if this has anything to do with your question, but I like it and you might be able to take some stuff out of it. I truly have not a clue where I found it. It's more of a friendship quote, but I think if you were to read through it you might be able to pick out something important. If not, well then sorry.

In kindergarten your idea of a good friend was the person who let you have the red crayon when all that was left was the ugly black one.
In first grade your idea of a good friend was the person who went to the bathroom with you and held your hand as you walked through the scary halls.
In second grade your idea of a good friend was the person who helped you stand up to the class bully.
In third grade your idea of a good friend was the person who shared their lunch with you when you forgot yours on the bus.
In fourth grade your idea of a good friend was the person who was willing to switch square dancing partners in gym so you wouldn't have to be stuck do-si-do-ing with Nasty Nicky or Smelly Susan.
In fifth grade your idea of a friend was the person who saved a seat on the back of the bus for you.
In sixth grade your idea of a friend was the person who went up to Nick or Susan, your new crush, and asked them to dance with you, so that if they said no you wouldn't have to be embarrassed.
In seventh grade your idea of a friend was the person who let you copy the social studies homework from the night before that you had.
In eighth grade your idea of a good friend was the person who helped you pack up your stuffed animals and old baseball cards so that your room would be a "high schooler's" room, but didn't laugh at you when you finished and broke out into tears.
In ninth grade your idea of a good friend was the person who went to that "cool" party thrown by a senior so you wouldn't wind up being the only freshman there.
In tenth grade your idea of a good friend was the person who changed their schedule so you would have someone to sit with at lunch.
In eleventh grade your idea of a good friend was the person who gave you rides in their new car, convinced your parents that you shouldn't be grounded, consoled you when you broke up with Nick or Susan, and found you a date to the prom.
In twelfth grade your idea of a good friend was the person who helped you pick out a college, assured you that you would get into that college, helped you deal with your parents who were having a hard time adjusting to the idea of letting you go.
At graduation your idea of a good friend was the person who was crying on the inside but managed the biggest smile one could give as they congratulated you.
The summer after twelfth grade your idea of a good friend was the person who helped you clean up the bottles from that party, helped you sneak out of the house when you just couldn't deal with your parents, assured you that now that you and Nick or you and Susan were back together, you could make it through anything, helped you pack up for college and just silently hugged you as you looked through blurry eyes at 18 years of memories you were leaving behind, and finally on those last days of childhood, went out of their way to come over and send you off with a hug, a lot of memories, reassurance that you would make it in college as well as you had these past 18 years, and most importantly sent you off to college knowing you were loved.
Now, your idea of a good friend is still the person who gives you the better of the two choices, holds your hand when you're scared, helps you fight off those who try to take advantage of you, thinks of you at times when you are not there, reminds you of what you have forgotten, helps you put the past behind you but understands when you need to hold on to it a little longer, stays with you so that you have confidence, goes out of their way to make time for you, helps you clear up your mistakes, helps you deal with pressure from others, smiles for you when they are sad, helps you become a better person, and most importantly loves you!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You could somehow mention how friends help you through everything and that though you're graduating you still have friends there to be by your side... and stuff like that. As I read through this again I don't think it has anything to do with your question, but you being older and smarter than me might be able to interpret something else from it.
Okay I bought my mom a card for mOthers day and i want to write something special in it but i dont know what to write! Does any one have any opinions? Thanks ill rate high!
Tell her that you love her and stuff like that. Say how you feel. I mean you love her right? You care about her right? Well tell her that.
I can tell you stuff me and friends have done on Mother's Day before.
~Bought cake and made BLT's for our mothers and gave some cake to all the mothers around us
~Called in the Radio station and wished them a happy mothers day (some friends heard it, but I didn't hear when they said it)
~Ummm... I don't really remember the other stuff I've done. I know I've made cards and stuff like that though.
What do you look for when you make someone your favorite columnist?
The quality of their advice, and their personality. It's all in your opinion. When I say quality of their advice I don't mean rating, the only way you have a perfect 5 is if you tell everyone what they want to hear.
There are some people that give "rude" advice that I have as a favorite. Just because it's not all that rude, and it's mostly funny and it makes me smile. But I also (though I haven't checked in a while) delete my favorite columnists if they haven't updated within a while (except I have a friend who hasn't updated in a while but I still have her as a fave)
It's all up to you though. What do YOU think makes someone "worthy" of being a favorite?
how do you deal with rumors and gossip. i really don't care what ppl say i just have a hard time showing that i actually don't care, so how do i show people i really dont care?
People are still spreading rumors about me from stuff that happened BEFORE x-mas, WAAAAY before x-mas. At first I'd get super-mad and start yelling or talking really rudly. Then I'd just go along with it and laugh (even though it wasn't something I liked laughing about) and then of course I'd start to get all worked-up like mad. And I asked the people why they only picked on me and not the other person involved and they said because I took it so personally and so seriously that it was a lot more fun.
So whether or not you care, if you play it like you don't care, then they'll stop sooner. If you need to know how to play it like you don't care, well just smile and act as you always do and as if you never even heard the rumor in the 1st place.
Good luck.
I'm 15/f, and I want a job. I can't really get a job right now because I'm only 15 and most places hire when you're 16. I don't turn 16 until August, but I wanted to go ahead and get one so I can have money to go towards getting a car and other stuff. So, does anyone have ideas for what I could do or any places that hire at 15?
Oh, please don't say babysitter, lol. I'm terrible with kids. Thanks! =)
Do you by any chance have a Chick-Fil-A nearby you? There's one close to where I live that will hire you at 14!! That's where I might work this summer if they're looking because I won't officially be 15 until November. Or I know here in NC you can go to your guidance office and if your grades are high enough, or if you're qualified, then you can get a workers permit.
But you're right, most places don't hire at 15, depends where you live.
Female 16...Is it wrong to go out with youre exboyfriends brother Even if he likes u? And what if your still in love with his brother but really want to go out with him?
Well you could cause major tension and feelings of hate between the 2 brothers. And it sounds as if you're using the X's brother to get to the X. Not such a good idea to me. But if you truly care, talk to the one you like about it. This is a stupid example, but do you know the show 7th Heaven? I forgot the name of the guy, but I think it was Lucy that dated him 1st, then Mary dated him secretly, and when Lucy found out there was major pissed off attitudes towards each other, then eventually Mary picked Lucy over the guy.
Eventually unless this guy REALLY cares, and I doubt you two are at the age of love (it's still possible though) but anyway, unless you REALLY care, and he REALLY cares, I wouldn't risk it because it could even in the smallest way break up the family (or at least the brothers) and you don't want to be responsible for that do you?
What are the 4 bases? ( you know, making out and so on)
Well a lot of people say the 4 F's.
French
Fondle
Finger
F*ck
Some other peopleconsider these to be it
Kissing/frenching
Handjob/"massages" in private places
Oral sex and anal sex
sex
What are some lyrics for songs from THE USED, or sites i can go to to get them. ill rate a 5! thanks!!!!
http://www.lyricsondemand.com
And if you look around and can't find it do a search on the site. It almost always works for me. I don't have the time to do it though, sorry.
ok. I previoulsy asked a question about how do i get up in the morning. now i have the worst time falling asleep! help!
Well what I do is get all comfy, turn on the tv and set the sleep timer to about an hour. Usually not even 30 minutes into whatever I'm watching I fall asleep.
Or I just start to study for history, that makes me super tired haha.
But mainly it's music and t.v that put me to sleep. Usually as long as there's noise, but not too loud of noise I fall asleep to it.
Or just try and clear your mind of anything stressful or anything just about anything that's on your mind. It should make you sleep better. Good luck, hope my advice works :)
I've been trying to view my feedback on advicenators, but everytime that I clicked feedback from my column it says that it cannot find that user. Can someone please tell me the site to go to where it will show me my feedback? I think it is doing this b/c I have a space in my columnist name. Thanks!
See if that helps.
I know this has been asked 100 times before but I need some help. After school I am always hungry (I have lunch at 10:30). And of course I always reach for something unhealthy and not very filling. So my question is what is a low-calorie yet filling snack? I am not as active as I should be so I don't use many calories. So what is something that I could burn off easily?
I have like the same problem. Exactly, except I eat lunch at 10:46 (but I don't even get my lunch until almost 11, and lunch is over by 11:15 or around there) And when I get home around 3ish I probably reach for the most unhealthy and least filling thing.
What you have to do is start getting fruit and yougurts. Fruits such as apples and grapes can be filling. I don't know many people that do this, but I love to cut up apples and dunk them in peanut butter since I can't use caramel with my braces. It's yummy and filling. Bananas are somewhat filling, but not as much as apples. or you can have a small fruit plate. A few grapes, a cut up banana, and half or a whole apple. That way you'll be full untill dinner time. And it's pretty yummy. Unless you like fruits that I don't such as peaches (never had) or pears (never had) or any of the other fruits, then you can do something with them.
yeah well..for our family 15 is a big thing...which started with my oldest sister 8 years ago..my grandma wasnt sure if she would be alive for my sister's 16th bday so she got flowers and all on her 15th bday..so when we reach 15 we get all that...mostly flowers n balloons and yeah.. (i just relized this a month ago since i have turned 15 a month from this day) and im the 3rd granddaughter to get this..though my grandma is only 65..i am not sure but i do remember goin out to eat as a family for my sister's sweet 16th, i am not sure about my other sister's....but i am not askin for a huge party with 30 ppl i am only askin for 10 friends max..not even 10 more like 5 or 6..but she said no..grrr parents bite..thx
Ha Ha. Yeah 16 is a bigger thing with us. My sister already has almost 100 people counted for her sweet 16, and it's not for another 5 months, by that time she'll have more and newer friends. It's crazy.
Maybe you can ask your mom for $50-$100 and you and your friends can just go out to eat or go to the mall or something. I hope you can talk some kind of sense into your mom. My grandparents are all 80+ and they're alive and kickin, or at least one of them are, the rest are probably going to die sometime soon (yeah, that sounds super pleasent) But whatever.
Hope all goes well. Happy sweet 16 or belated sweet 16. Good luck with talking some sense into your mom. Have a fun birthday (if it didn't already pass)
i want to go to north carolina..wat are some other good colleges?
I live in NC, and I want to go to A.S.U college. Ummm, NOT NC STATE... I guess it's a good college, but I don't like their basketball team. Ummm UNCC is a good college, with an awesome basketball team (haha, it's my college) Meredith is a super good college (but it's all girls.)
Here's a GREAT site with all or at least most of NC colleges. http://www.collegescolleges.com/states/NorthCarolina.htm
EDIT!!!!
Ahh, I thought you meant just colleges in NC until I read back through other answers, I also like others such as Syracuse (I'm from Syracuse, and I always used to want to go to SU) Yale, Harvard, Juilard, ummm NYU, and MANY more. If there's a particular state you want to be in, then in the link above substitute it for NorthCarolina. Good luck with colleges.
hey.. i have a VERRRY bad situation. My mom and dad are getting a divorce and i dont know what to do! Is it my fault? What can i do (if possible) to get them back together? i love my mom and my dad but when they yell and scream its hard for me to love either one of them.... plz plz plz help!! Everytime i think about it it makes me cry!!
First, it's NEVER your fault. Something happened in their marriage and they somehow fell out of love. There's not really anything you can do to get them back together. Have they tried counciling yet? If not then maybe you can talk to them about how you feel. But you know what their yelling and screaming does to you? You say when they do it, it makes it hard for you to love either one of them, so it makes you feel bad and/or sad or whatever, right? Well think of how they feel. Being in a marriage they no longer want to be in. Or something of the such. Maybe if they've already seen a marriage councilor but still can't work out their problems they'll do better off with a divorce. Maybe one of them cheated on the other, or something happened that they haven't told you. I know a lot of people who after their parents have gotten divorced they become friends, and that's just what they were meant to be, friends. Nothing more.
If it's tearing you up too much, maybe you can see a councilor. And if you don't have the money to see a psychiatrist (or whatever they're called) then your school councilor should be of some help. At least to rid you of the guilt.
Ummm, I haven't checked out them all, but these sites MIGHT help. Sorry about what's going on. I hope things work out in the end. No matter what, LOVE your parents, and be happy for them. If they're happier seperate then be happy for them when they're seperate.
I have a feeling that some or all of these will help the parent and not you, but I'm trying.
my mom said i cant have a sweet 16 party with my friends bc my sisters didnt get one..do u think this is fair or no?
If you really deserve it then no, it's not fair. Parents are and always will be like that though. If you're older sibling didn't get it, you won't get it. My sister wasn't allowed to get a cell until she was 15. I just recently finally talked my parents into getting me one (but I pay for mine, so does my older sister) I haven't had mine for more than 2 months, so it's pretty new. But it took a long time to get my parents to get me one.
Why couldn't your sisters have one? Did they ruin it for themselves? Did the oldest one ruin it for the both of you?
Unless you're like Mexican (They have a "sweet" 15, instead of a sweet 16) then Turning 16 is a REALLY big deal. I mean you don't neccisarily have to have a huge party but she can at least let you hang with your friends.
I think it's unfair, but first of all, life isn't fair. Second, have you ever thought she might be throwing you a surprise party, and 3rd maybe she has good reasons that she just doesn't want to share with you. I mean it's not completely fair, but maybe she's using a lame excuse to cover up the real reason. Ever thought of any of that?
Since you only asked for our opinion on whether this is fair or not I won't give you advice on what you can do, I'll just say my answer is half and half since there might be a side to the story that isn't being shared with you.
