I know this has been asked 100 times before but I need some help. After school I am always hungry (I have lunch at 10:30). And of course I always reach for something unhealthy and not very filling. So my question is what is a low-calorie yet filling snack? I am not as active as I should be so I don't use many calories. So what is something that I could burn off easily?
sweetXbeachbum answered Monday May 9 2005, 9:11 pm: Quaker Rice Cakes. 45 calories. And VERY filling!! SOOO delicious. Also:Try soy chips. Come in lots of flavors. I LIVE ON THESE THINGS. lol.

elscorcho96 answered Monday May 2 2005, 8:22 pm: I usually get a little hungry before lunchtime so I always pack a healthy snack for myself. Here are some things you might like:
- dried fruit
- granola/breakfast bars
- yogurt
- ants on a log (celery with a little bit of peanut butter and some raisins on top)
- nuts
- low-fat crackers with hummus [ elscorcho96's advice column | Ask elscorcho96 A Question ]

Personally, I absolutely love raw carrots for munching on when I'm hungry, but there are lots of things you could try. Fruit is always good, but some things are better than others - you can get little packets of dried fruits, which are good for snacking on, but these can actually contain lots of sugars, so watch out and check the packet. Cereals are also good in moderation, especially ones containing lots of fibre, which will be really filling.
Also, if you don't already, eat a good breakfast in the morning, and you'll be less likely to want to snack during the day, as well as generally having more energy. All the best. [ hailebop's advice column | Ask hailebop A Question ]

S_C answered Monday May 2 2005, 5:19 pm: I have like the same problem. Exactly, except I eat lunch at 10:46 (but I don't even get my lunch until almost 11, and lunch is over by 11:15 or around there) And when I get home around 3ish I probably reach for the most unhealthy and least filling thing.
What you have to do is start getting fruit and yougurts. Fruits such as apples and grapes can be filling. I don't know many people that do this, but I love to cut up apples and dunk them in peanut butter since I can't use caramel with my braces. It's yummy and filling. Bananas are somewhat filling, but not as much as apples. or you can have a small fruit plate. A few grapes, a cut up banana, and half or a whole apple. That way you'll be full untill dinner time. And it's pretty yummy. Unless you like fruits that I don't such as peaches (never had) or pears (never had) or any of the other fruits, then you can do something with them.
