i need a summer job but im only 13 and u cant get hired without being 16 or older.does anyone have any idea of any place who will hire someone under 16?
xOchErrytWistOx answered Friday May 13 2005, 7:47 pm: Well, what about working for your parents? They would pay you well and under the table (meaning you don't need working papers). Other then that you can dog walk, babysit, do chores for neighbors, have a garage sale of all your old things, car washes, anything creative! Look around your neighborhood and see what's needed. Also, if you are good with hair and makeup, you can do makeup and hair for a price.

S_C answered Friday May 13 2005, 7:18 pm: Lots of places hire people under 16, the problem is, the minimum age you can work is 14. I just got my worker papers/permit today because I have bills to pay such as my cell, and I need money. All I need to do is get my parents, an employer, and myself to fill it out. I mean I can only work 8 hours a day during the summer, and 5 hours a day during the school year, and from 7-7 during the school year, and 7-9 during the summer. But at least I can work. The only places I know of that will hire that young is Chick-fil-a, and Sonic (I only think) and you can work at gas stations at 14 (but it makes no sense to me since working there means having access to things such as cigs...) But yeah, there are places that will hire young, but the minimum age of working in the U.S is 14. Now if you live in another country, I'm not sure what the minimum age there is.
Also what you can do is put up babysitting flyers, lawn care flyers, pet sitting/pet walking flyers. Whichever of those things you're capable of doing you can put flyers up around the neighborhood/street area (wherever you live) and then that's your way of making money for the next year. Ashley1 answered Friday May 13 2005, 6:52 pm: You can't get a job at 13. You can work in a few years. Just clean around your house and make good grades in school. I am sure your parents will give you a allowance or something. [ Ashley1's advice column | Ask Ashley1 A Question ]
ask_elmo answered Friday May 13 2005, 5:31 pm: I know where I live, at least, you can become a soccer coach if your 12+. You get to referee the kids that are 8 and under, and you get paid like 75 bucks for just 2 or 3 games! You should see if you are able to do this in your area. You could be an umpire probably, too, at the little kid's games (if soccer isn't your thing). All you have to do is learn about the game (whether it be soccer or baseball/softball/t-ball), practice as an assistant to the referee/umpire, and then take a test. If you pass the test, voila, you have yourself a job! [ ask_elmo's advice column | Ask ask_elmo A Question ]
xoxoPrettyNPinkxoxo answered Friday May 13 2005, 5:21 pm: Hey! Since you are only 13, I don't think that anyone would really hire you for a job. You could try some of these though...babysitting, umpire for baseball/softball, carwash, or like a camp counselor or something like that.(sorry. that's all i can think of right now) It would get you some extra cash for the summer!
Shelly_x answered Friday May 13 2005, 2:47 pm: go and ask at a few places that your interested in. liekat a hair salon you'd only be sweeping up and making tea or coffee but your getting paid!

mrs_radcliffe answered Friday May 13 2005, 11:22 am: Why not try babysitting jobs. They usually can allow you to do that aslong as your 13 and over. Just ask around your street if anyone is wanting a baby sitter.
-NaTasha- answered Friday May 13 2005, 10:43 am: move to asia and get into the child labor law stuff. it will work trust me, by the time you come home you will have almost enough money to by a whole stick of gum! [ -NaTasha-'s advice column | Ask -NaTasha- A Question ]
Karen answered Friday May 13 2005, 7:07 am: The only place that will hire you to work during the summer is a camp. At most fast food joints, you either have to be 14+. Or you can just babysit and get money that way. [ Karen's advice column | Ask Karen A Question ]
HyperactiveMiss answered Thursday May 12 2005, 11:52 pm: I know this probably won't help you much, but I just wanted to tell you this anyway. People usually don't hire anyone under 16 because of child labor laws. Even if you are 16, there are laws that don't the 16 year old to work more than a certain number of hours a day. If it's like that for a 16 year old, you can imagine how hard it would be for a 13 year old to get a job. The only jobs you'll probably qualify for are jobs from your family or neighbors. Maybe some place will hire you, but only for something easy that doesn't pay much. You're thirteen and young...enjoy not being forced to get a job for now =b [ HyperactiveMiss's advice column | Ask HyperactiveMiss A Question ]
SiLenTxfAiRy answered Thursday May 12 2005, 10:36 pm: you can get a workers permit to work at that age. go to resturants and see if they need bussers. also, check out local summer camps for kids and see if you can work there. maybe even look online for ideas.
