Ok so i was wondering is it better to eat/drink dairy products when you're on a diet or not?

Also, im somewhat large chested, and i was wondering what can i do to keep from hurting when i run. I wear a sports bra sometimes but that doesn't help. Ive also tried it with a regular bra. But that doesnt help either..so does anyone know of anything i can do? its alwasy miserable the day after i run.

thanks, 5s to all who answer seriously

If you're serious about your diet then you will want to really limit dairy products. Dairy products in particular cause you to form a layer of fat between your skin and muscle, hence leading to a loss of definition.

Yogurt is always recommeneded but I never really recommend it to anybody except in small quantities. Only 1 tablespoon a week is needed to help replenish intestinal flora which is very important when you diet. If you must have dairy stick to skim milk in particular and no fat cottage cheese.

Listen to the person who gets paid to tell this to people ;-)

i've asked a lot of question about weight loss
but did anyone see the wrestling true life on mtv? not exactly what the title actually was, but with the kid that tricked his body into thinking that he was having three full meals, by having a piece of a power bar every few hours. does that actually work? i know it's not the healthiest route, but that if you starve yourself your body will go into starvation mode, and your metabolism slows down, etc, etc. would tricking your metabolism help you lose a ton of weight without like... dying?

thank you.

No it doesn't work. Here's why:

1. I've researched all of this
2. It was on MTV and anything on that retarded channel with "True" in the title never is.
3. It was a kid doing it.
4. The most realistic answer- Common sense should tell you that starving your body probably isn't a good idea.

This is why I hate to see this shit on TV because everyone just gets sucked into it whether they're 13 or 40 and either do it or go and look for some colorful diet at the checkout of a supermarket that is somewhat close to it.

My advice- just don't take anything MTV airs too seriously lol..like honestly what the hell kind of good information can come from a show on MTV?

Is jumprope the way to go? I heard 5 min of it is like running 2 miles. Although, it doesn't really use the same muscles and it's good to use different ones sometimes, right? But in magazines it says to switch sets or something and I can't keep track of all that so would it be good to swim one day, jumprope the next, walk/run the other, bike, etc?

This is a pretty good question. First off- never listen to what a magazine says, just don't lol.

I like the jumprope idea- I think it gives a good cardio workout and really helps to sharpen coordination skills and muscle memory. It's not like running 2 miles either. I would say to find what exercise you like the best whether its jumprope or running or swimming and make that your cornerstone exercise and incorporate other exercises as well. Jumping rope is definitely good though.

ok, i am 13/f and i want..*NEED* to lose weight!!
i weigh 150 and im 5'7..yah im not like "oh my gosh shes huge" overweight just chubby..and i want to get rid of it before my summer bday so i can have a Beach Party..any tips!!PLEASEE!!

I RATE HIGH!!

To be perfectly honest with you- you're way too young to be worrying so much about this and your body is going to still go through a lot of changes as you go through puberty. I hate to see 13 year old girls or boys stressing out so much about their weight or wanting to lift weights very heavy, I tell you this because I myself started at 13. Give your body a chance to mature. Most people, especially at 13 try to understand and apply a big load of fitness concepts and they are almost always not able to. Give it time and eat right but don't stress over it. Fuck what you see on MTV and that whole image. Take care of your body but once again- DON'T STRESS OVER IT. Your time will come.

I'm 5'8, 155 pounds (I've lost 5 so far!) and I use my treadmill daily. I go on for 30 minutes, at 4 miles/hour, no incline. How many calories will I be losing at this pace? I've been to many sites, and they each give me a different reading.

100 calories per mile whether you walk or run. The difference comes in how the body and metabolism responds which of course is better with running. But once again- you will burn the same amount of calories for equal distance no matter if you walk to run. Trust me.

and yes to your feedback question.

Okey, I've tried working out, eating healthy and even counting every single calorie, and it STILL hasnt wokred! So please, don't give me the doctor-answer. Spare me the "healthy-talk".

If I skip dinner, and eat as much lunch as I do now, no more, no less..will I lose weight?

Just a simple yes or now, not "eating helthy, skip the sweets, try the gym" because I've foine that already. I've even tried making myself throw up, but my mother caught me.

So please answer truthfully, will it..or will it not? And please know what you are talking about.

So you're saying that you don't want to hear the truth and just want some fast and quick methods? Gee- I wonder if making myself puke is better than just trying to eat a little more healthy and try and adjust a few parts of my diet and exercise program and not complaining when it doesn't happen in 2 months. Don't worry- most people share this attitude so it's not totally you.

Maybe this is a "Fig Newton" of my imagination but I have always remembered the right way to lose weight was to "Eat healthy, skip the sweets, try the gym"

See- Iam sparing you the healthy talk and the reasons to not do it.

i dont have flat abs.. so if i were to just go on a diet and not eat as many fatty foods and not do crunches would that help? because whenever i do crunches it never shows improvement.. even for like a month

DING DING DING there you go- eliminate the fats and garbage from the diet and eat frequent, small healthy meals all throughout the day and continue to exercise. You can do all the crunches in the world and without a diet- it's all for nothing. Do that and you will see improvement.

what are green tea pills?i hear all they do is make you go pee a lot. what exaclty do they do and how do they help with like losing weight?

rate high!

In a nutshell- they have an antioxidant property (which protects against "free radicals" in your system) and can be pretty effective. I only really recommend a Green Tea/Vitamin B6 complex as a supplement as these two are great when combined.

ok well i was watching a commercial from that new movie stick it and on one of them the girl comes out of sitting in a tub full of ice, and i was just wondering why. also i need some help on losing weight quickly on my legs and stomach and arms, i want to be skiny by june 26th. thanks ill rate 5's

More than likely its a "Contrast bath" for the muscles where you sit in ice for a set period of time and then you go sit in hot water and it helps to soothe muscles. Very effective actually. Some people do that also when their fever gets above 104 degrees.

Besides crunches .. what are some good Ab workouts? Crunches dont seem to show any results

Thats because you don't diet the right way.

Im 25 almost 7ft. 240lbs. I want to build up my arms especially my biceps comes summertime. Overall, my entire upperbody i want to build bigger. But I have no time for the gym. How can i do it within the comfort of my own home. Any help will be gladly accepted.

What about your lower body? If you're saying this than I guarantee you aren't proportionate with the upper/lower body split.

Did you know that to be considered near proportionate your calves should be around the size of your biceps? Don't fall into the trap that most guys fall into with training- just training your upper body and neglecting your lower body and having a palm tree look that people will laugh at instead of admire.

Now I know that EVERY guy wants big huge arms and will do curl after curl (usually inside of a squat rack which PISSES me off) and wonder why they always look the same. here's why- the biceps are one of the smallest muscle groups in the whole musculo-skeletal system and yet people train them like they're training their quads.

Here's the truth- You aren't building any respectable mass without weightlifting and doing it heavy. Theres 24 hours in a day right? Even if you work for 12 hours that still leaves another 12 hours left in the day, factor in your 8 hours of sleep and you have 4 extra hours left and all you need is one of them in order to train your body. If the President gets his workout in everyday then you can too. I've trained many people who used that same exact excuse and after making it a point that if you want results real bad then you are going to have to make sacrifices- they found the time just like anyone else. You want it? Then train and live like you do because believe me man it sure as hell doesn't come easy. Get in that gym and start lifting and eating like a beast. Sorry if it isn't what you want to hear but Iam not going to lie to you and tell you that you can buy some rinky dink ass weight set at Sears and get huge arms like that...unless you have a few thousand dollars laying around and can equip a full (notice I said full) home gym. Train hard and EAT EAT EAT.

Hey, do you mind me asking another question?
I know I've asked about 3 questions these past days, but the whole loosing weight issue has become my only focus, you know.. the first thing I think about when I wake up, the last thing I think about before I go to sleep.
Now you say running EVERYDAY for 2 whole months won't help me get fit? And I'm not even overweight, just have a little extra-fat..but then how do all the actors lose all their spare-fat after a month or so after they've been pregnant, or had to gain weight for a movie-part. (?) Like I'm not questioning your knowledge or anything, I'm just wondering. Because it has come to the point where it's all I think about, and I'm obsessed, I'm failing classes and losing sleep.

Could you just tell me in specific numbers, exactly how many minutes/day would I have to run/walk to loose wight and become skinny, if I only have 60 days to do it?

I understand that I'm doing it for the wrong reasons, but still..I need to do this. I really do.

Please answer.
Thank you.

The absolute worst people to take advice or compare yourself to are actors- all I can say is FAKE. $$$ to afford the best trainers and food and the fact that meals are all prepared for them by 5 star healthy chefs. It's a whole lot different when you're on a budget and have to go through the whole process of making your own meals day in and day out. They are catered to so don't even give them a second thought.

You're thinking about it too much and thats going to be your downfall if you don't change it now. You can train too much you know and your body can only handle so much at a time. Pounding your body everyday with all of the stress of running coupled with a huge stress to prove something that really doesn't need to be proven just wears your body out. More is not better...More is just a waste of time.

and for the final time- YOU AREN'T GOING TO LOSE ANYTHING WITHOUT EATING RIGHT. ZERO. ZIP. NADA.

Cardio doesn't lose the weight- cardio metabolizes extra calories and helps to condition the body's systems.

The dreaded "D" word- DIET loses the weight through consistent and sensible intakes of the vital nutrients your body needs.

I can't stress to you how important your attitude is when you go after a goal in fitness. you have to keep the fun in it and if it doesn't happen for you in your selected time- don't whine and complain because its a totally solo effort and any success or failure you may face is totally your own doing.

You ask me to tell you exactly what to do everyday to become skinny in 60 days- Theres no possible way I could know that because we are all different and everyone has a different defintion of skinny. But I can give you my general recommendation but with a warning: If you continue to think the way you are now- then you are not going to achieve anything but disappointment and all of this effort and worry will be for absolutely nothing. Want to know what I honestly think? WHO GIVES A SHIT ABOUT WHAT HE THINKS- its your body and you are responsible for it. Why not try and work to not only make a better looking you, but a healthier you? Then you can enjoy all of the benefits and share it with a guy who can actually appreciate what you do.

So here it is:

Run 1 mile 3 times per week

On those 3 days do to failure (Till you cant squeeze another one out on every set):

Crunches
Push ups
Knee bends
Leg scissors

Very basic and to the point- combine with a great diet and a change in attitude and you will see results- now my definition of results is different from yours but your body is a complex thing and it takes a long time to make changes.

Hey man, I'm the same person who wrote the "30 min/day = skinny?" question. What about running for 30 minutes everyday, would that help? The things is, I only have 60 days until I see him-- and I only have 30 minutes a day to spare for working out (or occassionally 1 hour, like on sundays) so is there ANYTHING i can do, for 30 minutes a day, for 60 days, that will make me skinny? I dont have a bike, and my father wont let me go to the gym. So would running work? Please take this question seriously, because I'm desperate..to be confident, and like myself, and to show him that Ive grown, I feel like I NEED to be skinny. So please help.

Thank you for your time :)

Well first off you already have committed mistake No.1 in your quest for a better body- doing it for someone else and not yourself. I'm telling you that if you constantly criticize and worry about what others think then you are going to fail at your attempt and be very very disappointed. If you want to take this seriously then you're going to have to learn how to channel these emotions to a positive attitude and not have them just weigh you down which I guarantee they will. Lead by example in your actions and your lifestyle and not your appearance because looks are deceiving- the person with the best abs and glutes is sometimes the person who isn't healthy at all- the two are not always interchangable. Work at making yourself HEALTHY above all and the appearance will come later on when you are ready and learn how to channel these emotions. Just the fact that you are taking your health seriously is an example enough that you've "Grown" and if he can't appreciate that and respect that- then what the hell do you care what he thinks anyway? It's your body and you are your body's guardian- not it's prisoner. It's great that you want to get into all of this- but you are doing it for the wrong reasons and once you start to realize what exactly the right reasons are then you are ready to begin this lifestyle.

As far as your question goes about running- No again. It really doesn't matter whether you walk to run- your body burns the same amount of calories if the distances are equal. So if you run a mile- you have bruned around 100 calories- if you walk 1 mile- you still have burned about 100 calories. Running just helps to kickstart the metabolism in a better way but I never really run because it bores me. For cardio work I prefer to do the Stairmaster and I think you should too once you can get to a gym. Walk or run it really doesn't matter- they are both just little pieces of an even bigger puzzle to making a healthy lifestyle and not a fad.

I just read what you wrote about crunches being better than sit-ups, and I belive you..but what is the difference? And how do you do crunches - the right way - so your back wont hurt, and you'll looose that tummy!?

First off- I want it to be known that crunches will not lose a tummy- your diet does that.

Crunches are better than sit ups for the simple reason that crunches engage the abs in their most natural motion in the manner in which their function should be- to "crunch" the chest closer to the pelvis. The abs (Rectus Abdominis) are a very small muscle group with a very important job- supporting the weight of your entire upper body and this is why they are hard to get results from- they are used to heavy work day in and day out so you really need to hit them hard. Sit-ups do not involve the abs but a muscle group called the Iliopsos or Hip Flexor muscles. This is why your abs don't hurt after doing sit-ups but the area below your lower abs does. I have always done and recommended compound movements which make the abs serve as the prime supporting muscles in an exercise over so much isolation which will just serve to overtrain them and not do anything. I have always recommended this for training another small muscles group such as the biceps- your biceps are only the size of an orange and yet people hammer them with set after set of isolation work that they think will make them grow- WRONG. To this day when I do biceps I do no more than 9 sets total- that's because this is all that's needed. The abs are the same- they are better worked in a compound movement and when you need to do isolation exercise (crunches of course) you need only do limited sets to get the benefits. Trust me.

The right way to do a crunch is to lay face up on the floor- it's your choice to bring your knees up closer to your body or leave your legs extended out (this is harder). You can put your hands behind your head, across your chest or to the side and proceed to bring your chest up off the floor in an attempt to "crunch" it into your pelvis.

VERY IMPORTANT- You will see lots of people going very fast when they do crunches- DO NOT DO THIS concentrate on feeling the abs contract and holding that contraction and making it all flow smooth. Keep a good pace but not a lightning pace or nothing will work.

21.F

I've been active in cardio and weight training (and a balanced diet) for awhile now to lose weight. I lost about 10lbs to begin with which was fantastic but now I'm at a lull.

I've been looking into supplements to aid in fat burning or energy (yes I will continue with exercise, etc) but I don't really know much about them or if any on the market actually help.

Can you suggest anything? And if so, please provide some type of information I can read up on myself. Thanks.

NOTE: ONLY ANSWER IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT.

Here's the lowdown:

I never recommend stimulant based supplements to any clients unless they are experienced bodybuilders because that is who these supplements are really reserved for and not the casual everyday dieter. The flashy signs and models help to sell the flase promises to people and it is insulting to the savvy and unfair to the uninformed.

Instead I recommend non stimulant based supplements- Tonalin CLA being my favorite. CLA or Conjugated Linoleic Acid is an essential fatty acid that your body needs in order to metabolize calories and burn fat. This supplement is fairly cheap and very effective. Use in combination with an excellent diet plan and exercise and it will work in your favor. Whether its losing weight or building muscle- results happen very fast when u first begin and stop relatively quickly- a few minor lifestyle adjustments and the right supplement is usually all you need to take it to the next level.

Alright, so I'm meeting my ex in exactly 2 months, and I NEED to look perfect. Right now I'm gonna focus on my weight, so I need to know; If I take a 30 minute walk every day for exactly 60 days, will that be enough to make me REALLY SKINNY. I'm not fat at the moment, like most people would call me skinny. But I've got some loose fat. Like I don't really care at all what my weight is, as long as I look skinny. So would 30 minutes a day WALKING (i hate running) be enough? Ive tried doing 60 situps/day for 3 months now and it hasnt done anything for me! So if walking and situps dont work I dont know what to do :S like I know making yourself throw up is bad, and wont work for long, but I dont need it to work for long, I just need to be skinny that one week I see him, so without being all "its bad for you..bla bla bla" like a doctor, be COMPLETELY HONEST please - would it make me skinny, even for just one week? And if so when should I start, how many weeks before I see him? Or will it just make sure I dont GAIN weight? Just dont care for my health, be honest -- would it make me look skinny for a week?

Thank you!

To be perfectly honest- No you will not be REALLY SKINNY if you walk for 60 days. Why should it be for 60 days anyway? Why not just make it a daily thing to get exercise in like it should be? You aren't going to make any major changes to your body that will last in 60 days. Now you'll hear people tell you that yes it can happen because they've done it before and blah blah blah- look at them now...do you really think they look the same or better? No- because its a dedicated lifestyle and not just a passing fad for 60 days. Get it out of your head that you need to "be skinny" for one week and get it into your head that a healthy lifestyle makes you live longer, fuller and have a better attitude above just looking good. You probably won't listen to me but hey- it's the truth- sorry.

[view]

what kinds of food help make you fell full longer. I'm tryin to loose weight????

Sorry but just about everyone is wrong lol. The recommendations below call for vegetables and fruits which are carbohydrate sources and water which flushes out of you the quickest. The reason why you feel hungry a little while after eating carrots or bananas is because the digestion of carbs begins in the mouth with the amalayse inside of the saliva and it ends in the stomach. However if you want to feel fuller longer you can eat fat but that's too calorie dense at 9 calories per gram so you can eat protein whose digestion doesn't begin until it reacts with Hydrochloric acid in the stomach and ends in the large intestine and it has the same calorie value as carbs at 4 calories per gram. Find the low fat, lean protein dense foods which you like the best and eat them to stay fuller longer.

I did alot of exercises yesterday.. I mean alot.. and my legs are like sore! I fell going up the stairs cause they were so sore today at school.. they are still sore to i have ball practice everyday and i also have gym how could I get my legs from not being sore?

haha welcome to my world. This is called DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) and here's the beautiful thing: There's NOTHING you can do about it except rest and let time heal it. Fun isn't it? :-)
