Plants and Gardens
Oh, ya know, that's just me hanging out on a beach in France.
My name is Laura and I'm 20 years old. I'm a Biology major currently attending school at the University of St Francis. I have an amazing boyfriend who I adore lots. I like to run and read. Not at the same time, but it'd be pretty cool if I could. I also enjoy singing in the car. Loudly and at all times. I express my life through song lyrics. I'm addicted to Twitter. I'm one of a kind and I'm kind of weird, but that's just who I am :)
I've been on this site since '05. I take hiatuses, but I'm never gone for good. I enjoy giving advice and I've made such lovely friends on this site that I couldn't imagine giving it up!
chat it up yo.
ps. here's my bestestestest friend.
I love him. You will too :)
Me and my boyfriend of 2 years have sex quite often and I am on the birth control pill, plus he pulls out. For the past month I have been doing a low-carb diet in order to drop some weight for spring break. I also took a thermogenic fat burner as I am really into working out and I hit the gym pretty much every day. On spring break I ate pretty shitty, alot different than what my body is used to and my past month low carb diet. The last week before spring break I had diarrhea and stomach pains. I thought it was due to the weight loss supplement so I stopped taking it. Then the week later I had constipation (I usually always have constipation when I'm away from home, don't ask me why). But I've been home almost a week now and I am still bloated. No nausea or morning sickness or anything like that. I take my birth control pills everyday at the same time and haven't missed one. I just would like some opinions and assurance about this. Especially if anyone knows alot about weight loss thermogenic supplements. Thank you! Oh, and also I haven't gotten my period since January, however my period is usually irregular anyways due to the birth control pills.
I have never personally taken any weight loss supplements, but my mom is a nurse and knows all about them. They quite often mess up your stomach, which can be what is causing your issues.
If you've taken your birth control regularly and haven't missed a pill, I'd say you're more likely than not NOT pregnant. But one problem I do is, is your irregular periods. Birth control is supposed to regulate them. That's actually the reason why I was put on it. If you're irregular, you should see your doctor about it.
As for your question at hand, I do not think it's likely you are pregnant. The stomach problems you had after eating bad were probably caused by that, because your if your body isn't used to crappy food and then you load up on it, your body won't react well to it.
Overall, I think you're probably fine but you can always take a test to be absolutely sure :)
Okaye, I'm 13 years old. I've had my period for a few years now, and I put a tampon in for the first time last night. I could feel it in me. It kind of freaked me out. I would sit down and like, I knew it was there. I didn't like it. I went to bed with it on, and wore the same one until about 2 pm, I tried taking it out, but I was in tears the whole time. The second time I tried taking it out, about 2:30, it didn't hurt, as bad as it did the first time, but I still wanted to scream. It is now 8:15 and I haven't put one in, I'm scared I'm going to feel it, I hate it! I've googled so many things! So many questions! But i dont know if I want to stick with them. I don't like to be able to feel it inside me, I don't like that, and I don't want to cry when I take it out. /: help?
Thanks for inboxing!
First of all, you shouldn't sleep with a tampon in. They should not be left in longer than 8 hours, otherwise you risk getting Toxic Shock Syndrome.
Second of all, the first few times you use a tampon, you're going to feel it. It shouldn't be so painful that you can't bear it, but it you will know it's there. When you're putting it in, the biggest thing is to RELAX. When you're stressed, your muscles tense and make it harder and more painful to put it in.
It gets better with time. If you don't like using them, stick to using pads. There's nothing wrong with that! Just do what makes you most comfortable :)
My boyfriend and i got together in december and now its getting closer to valentines day. He's 14 so what should i get him?
You're young and haven't been together long, so I don't think you need to get him anything big or expensive.
Bake him some cookies.
Make him a mix cd.
Get him chocolates.
Get him some cologne.
Get him a picture frame with a picture of you two in it.
i had unprotected sex 4 days after my period ended can i be pregnet ?
Any time you have unprotected sex, there is a chance of pregnancy.
13/f Hi, I'm trying to grow my shoulder length hair out because I'm tired of everyone else having longer hair than me. Any suggestions?
The answer below me is NOT right. Do NOT put your hair in "tight, tight braids." The tight braiding causes breakage and will actually delay hair growth.
The best thing you can do and what has helped me is to cut down on blow drying/straightening and to wear your hair down or in a LOOSE pony tail/bun.
Also, when I started taking a multi-vitamin, my hair started to grow a little bit faster.
13/f hey, I really want to lose a few found like maybe 10-15 pounds. What can I do to achieve my goal by the end of the summer?
Best of luck! :)
So my one year anniversary is coming up and I was looking for ideas. I wanna do something cute and romantic for him but I'm not really creative when it comes to this stuff. We're both 20 by the way if that matters at all. Thank you!
How about taking him back to the place where you met/went on your first date/had your first kiss? It's always romantic to relive those milestones :)
Or maybe just a nice dinner at a restaurant you two haven't been to?
You guys can go stargazing. I always find stargazing very romantic :)
Hope this helps!
im 14 years old and i tired to put a tampon in i think i put it in all the way but it hurt like hell. did i do it wrong?? or is it cause i never done it before?? help me please? i tried 3 times and it stings ...
Thanks for inboxing.
The first time you put a tampon in, yes, it will hurt. The most important thing is to RELAX. Stressing causes you to become tense and you will make it worse.
You will know it's all the way in, trust me. As I said, just relax and be calm. Take a deep breath and try it again. My tip would be when you put it in for the first time- put it in and don't leave it in long. Then take it out, wear a pad for a while and then try a tampon again.
It will get easier as time goes on and your body gets used to it :)
This isn't a question.
Hi. Please answer this question.
Money enables me to help others. Please please! :)
Hi thanks for inboxing.
If you put the money to good use, then yes, it can enable you to help others.
My boyfriend hand a baby by someone else during the time we are together he attended all her classes, doc visit and birth i found out when the baby was 3 months
To put it simply: No. I could never, ever get over that.
My boyfriend and I have decided that we would like to start going jogging together in the mornings. For the past year or so, neither of us have done any sort of significant physical exercise, maybe a bike ride once or twice a week.
Are there any experienced runners or joggers out there that could give us a few tips on how to get into running again. Naturally it is not as simple as just going out and running.
Considerig we're quite out of shape in terms of stamina and endurance, what would be the best way to start?
Any information would be much appreciated :)
I would start out with simply walking. Walk a mile. The next week, do 2, etc until you're used to regular physical exercise again. Make sure you stretch before each walk, too, so that you don't strain any muscles. You have to ease your body into running or you can really get hurt.
After a few weeks or so of walking, maybe try running a mile then walking a mile. This is what I did when I took a break from running then got back into it. I would alternate running/walking and it really helped build my endurance and strength back up!
I also saw that someone below me suggested shoes- I very much agree. Good shoes will change everything. I'm speaking from a lot of experience when I say, invest in some nice, comfortable running shoes :)
Best of luck! And if you have any more ?'s, feel free to inbox me!

So I am a vegetarian 15f and I have been one for awhile but I need to know what foods besides eggs and nuts are high in iron and protein?
Your best bet is to talk to your doctor. I was a vegetarian for a while and speaking with my doctor helped me tremendously. Otherwise, like the person below said, spinach is great. So are raisons. Another option is to check for cereals that are high in iron. That was something that helped me. Another thing my doctor had me do was start taking a daily multivitamin that contained the daily amount of iron I needed.
For more help:
Ive been super close with my friend for a long time and we talk ALOT but I don't get why she didn't accept my friend request on instagram. It makes no sense. I know her mom haws me for no reason but I'm her only friend that doesn make her feel worthless and like crap. Anyways we talk alot and hang out and text and she doesn't accept my instagram request???
Ask her. Honestly, I don't think it's a big deal. At all. It's the internet.
But if it's really bothering you, just ask her. Maybe she just hasn't gotten around to accepting? Or maybe she's like me and takes weeks to figure out how to use new websites ;)
Is it true if you ignore your boyfriend he will come back?
No, it's not true. If you ignore him, it will either:
a. make him angry.
b. make him upset.
You lose either way.
So my boyfriend is a really plain guy! Haha. He doesnt like sports that much, or anything like that. So i really dont know what to get him for Valentines day. I mean we have 5 months together so offcourse i want to get him something cute . But idk what? He doesnt like cologne, or candy, or teddy bears. Any ideas on what i can give him on this day that he would like?
Anything is appreciated (:
- Bake him cookies.
- Make him a mix CD.
- Make him a coupon book (1 free kiss, one shoulder rub, etc.)
- Get him concert/movie tickets.
- Maybe a book if he's into reading?
- Make him a nice dinner.
Also found this super cute site full of ideas:
Best of luck!

I love to run. I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia (basically widespread chronic pain for those uninformed), and exercise induced asthma, and am medicated for both, but it still sucks, and these problems get in the way.
I've been running nearly every other day since August, after a year off working out completely. I used to be able to run 5k in under half an hour, but that's the farthest I've ever run. I've always fashioned myself more of a sprinter, though. I'm very fast, but I can't seem to maintain. I'd like to change that.
I've tried limiting my speed - on a treadmill, I've been setting my jog speed to 6mph, which is almost uncomfortably slow for me, as I usually run at 6.5mph, but I've noticed more ability to keep going. I still can't get on a treadmill and just run for ten minutes. I keep having to walk, which interferes with my ability to just zone out, which is part of what I love about running.
But here's the thing, I don't just trot, or lightly jog. I really run with my whole body. I've come off the next day feeling like I did a back workout, or worked my abs.
How fast is too fast? Should I drop my speed further, even though I have a long stride? Should I change my stride? Has anyone else run into this problem, or have any ideas as to how to work up to being able to run more than 3 miles?
Do you stretch before you run? I've found when I'm lazy about stretching is when I have back pain. Stretching is very important, otherwise, you can really hurt yourself.
Otherwise, you need to be sure you break up your whole body running. Run at a fast pace for a few minutes, but then take a a minute or 2 to walk and relax your body.
When you just run with your entire body, you wear yourself out. Perfect example: If I'm really in a bad mood and just need to run, I will hop on the treadmill and run for like 3 straight miles. But then I have to stop and I feel kinda crappy. However, if I alternate running, lightly jogging and occasional short bursts of walking, I can go up to over 5 miles and feel awesome after my workout.
Overall- I'd suggest cutting down on the speed. Especially if you're hurting after your workout. Give your body a break! Run with jogging AND walking breaks in between and let your body build up to the point where you can intensely run for longer periods of time.
If you need more help, just send something to my inbox! Best of luck!
I'm into the nice 'kids in high school fall in love' kind of stories but lately they just haven't been cutting it haha. Does anybody know any good books like that but with sex (Most important), drugs, drinking? Just more mature stuff than something like a thirteen year old would read. The only type of book I can actually sit down and read have a lot of romance in it. So please don't suggest to me any pure mystery/fantasy/etc stores.
I'm running low on books on my Kindle I haven't read yet, haha. Thanks!
Palo Alto by James Franco.
Anything by Ellen Hopkins.
Choke by Chuck Palahniuk.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky.
Any book by Chelsea Handler is hilarious.
Tweak and it's sequel, All Fall Down by Nik Sheff.
