skipping dinner = worth it?

Question Posted Friday April 14 2006, 2:36 pm

Okey, I've tried working out, eating healthy and even counting every single calorie, and it STILL hasnt wokred! So please, don't give me the doctor-answer. Spare me the "healthy-talk".

If I skip dinner, and eat as much lunch as I do now, no more, no less..will I lose weight?

Just a simple yes or now, not "eating helthy, skip the sweets, try the gym" because I've foine that already. I've even tried making myself throw up, but my mother caught me.

So please answer truthfully, will it..or will it not? And please know what you are talking about.

of course it will. fewer calories in = weight loss. fewer calories in + more calories out = "easier weight loss" according to the "experts," but obviously everyone is different, and for some eating fewer calories is easier. skipping breakfast is hard because you're starving by lunch, and thus more likely to eat more later. you don't have this problem when skipping dinner. drink some tea. do some situps. heck, if you get too hungry to comfortably distract yourself, go to bed! then you can start the day over fresh, effectively distract yourself throughout the day with school/work, and therefore eat normal breakfasts and lunches. it makes perfect sense. don't be discouraged!

No, it won't work. When you don't eat, it actually makes it harder to lose weight. When you aren't getting all of the nutrients you need, your body produces more fat to try to get all of the nutrients to your body. So not eating is actually worse than overeating.

If you don't eat dinner it won't make any differnce because you're stomach will eat own own fat inside. Work out keep your diet the same but miss out on unnessary snacks, and I'm sure you will lose weight.

no don't do it. If you do, then it will be worse. Even if you eat the same amount at lunch and breakfast, your body will take more of the fat out of those meals and end up making you gain more weight. Just pick some healthier things to eat and make sure that you do a good workout each day...that should help. I hope that I helped, and remember that my inbox is always open. You don't have to rate, if you don't want to, but it would be nice if you did. Thanks!

At first you might actually gain weight because your bodies automatic response is "ok, since Im in starvation mode I need to save up my water weight." After a little while you will start to see results. Now Im gunna have my mild Dr. Phil talk:

If you go through with this, you should also take vitamins and drink lots of water. That will help keep you healthier and shed some pounds.

So you're saying that you don't want to hear the truth and just want some fast and quick methods? Gee- I wonder if making myself puke is better than just trying to eat a little more healthy and try and adjust a few parts of my diet and exercise program and not complaining when it doesn't happen in 2 months. Don't worry- most people share this attitude so it's not totally you.

Maybe this is a "Fig Newton" of my imagination but I have always remembered the right way to lose weight was to "Eat healthy, skip the sweets, try the gym"

See- Iam sparing you the healthy talk and the reasons to not do it.

Ok the way in losing weight is eating calories..but being able to burn them off. For instance you jog, run, lift weights do cardio etc...you can eat all your meals and healthily to lose the weight. If you are mildly active you can eat a healthy breakffast, a hearty lunch and probably skip dinner.

If you are going to skip dinner (which is probably the best meal out of all to skip) make sure you do your exercise between breakffast and lunch .

It based on your energy and active lifestyle and how physical you are and then you can say iff to skip dinner....make sure you eat healthy ffor breakfast n lunch though

If you skip dinner, you'll only be hungry later & wanna eat even more. Like someone before me said it puts your body into starvation mode, its not the most conservative way to lose weight. However eating smaller servings would work..

good luck!

xomegaroni answered Friday April 14 2006, 3:16 pm:
that doesn't help at all. like skipping any meals won't help you lose weight. it puts your body into 'starvation mode' which basically means it keeps up all the calories you had that day & doesn't burn them off. soo you either gain weight er stay the same weight. none of it is good. eat all 3 meals, eat healthy snacks (fruits, veggies, crackers), drink plenty of water & run. that's about it.

-hope that helped!♥

its not very healthy but it will most likely work depending on what eat for lunch. But what would probably be easier on you would just to eat lunch and dinner but less of each and then the obvioius one, don't eat anything inbetween. hope i could help

Skipping dinner is not worth it. You will lose weight, but the next time you eat, you'll gain back weight....quickly. So there's no real point in skipping dinner.
