sizzlinmandolin answered Monday April 17 2006, 6:12 pm: Running is a full body workout. That means that you're working pretty much everything. Upper body, lower body, abs...running is the best workout there is for this reason. You're not going to get very built from running (that's what weight lifting is for), but your muscles will get a very good workout. Since you're running on a treadmill, make sure that you're not just holding onto the handles. Set them so they move so you're working your arms too. If you can't put them on that setting, you don't have to hold on. Let your arms move freely, just be careful doing that. Good luck! Alin75 answered Monday April 17 2006, 6:05 pm: Running works your quads. Also, but I believe to a somewhat lesser degree, you will be working out your glutes, your hamstrings, your calves and your lower abs. Of course your lower back and abs are used as satbilizers. x_mystery answered Monday April 17 2006, 4:48 pm: You're not really working muscles very much, maybe your calves and thighs and minimally your abs for stabilization. Running is a cardio exersise, so you are mainly exersising your cardiovascular system and upping your metabolism. [ x_mystery's advice column | Ask x_mystery A Question ]
KaTiE_LyNn answered Monday April 17 2006, 4:32 pm: mostly you are working your calves [the lower half of your leg]. but you are burning calories, so it should help slim you down in more places than just that. [ KaTiE_LyNn's advice column | Ask KaTiE_LyNn A Question ]
ForfeitYourDream answered Monday April 17 2006, 4:18 pm: You'll be working your calves mostly, but expect all-over slimming results because when you run, if you work your arms at the same time [when you're bent and you move them with your body], you can often expect for your arms to tone as well.
