Responses to my last question have influenced me to write this. People have been telling me that bands like MCR are "great" and the "fans" don't "look at the band"*** but listen. Anywho, I now propose this:
If all these new bands aren't mostly about their image, why do so many kids mimic their appearance?
We shall use MCR again, as they are a good example. Black hair, girl pants, the works. There are kids who copy this style to the T. They may listen to the music, but they sure try and play the part too. What if MCR dressed more conservative? Do you think their fanbase would drop? Do you think the youth would start dressing more civil as well? I'll use my favorite band, Radiohead, as a counter example. They make millions of dollars, have a massive fanbase, but are far from eccentric. From performing to living their everyday lives, they dress down in the most casual of clothes. When you see them perform, the fans are mostly the same. No outrageous dyed black hair with gaudy excessive crap all over their bodies.
So, in summary, do bands like MCR sell more music or a style, and would they be as successful if they weren't so eccentric?
note: please don't answer this if you are an MCR fan and are coming to praise the band. this isn't an MCR question.

I didn't see your last question but I will throw my 2 cents worth in.
I think with the advent of MTV and all the music video shows out there you are probably right. Its sad but true image is much more important than it used to be.
Strip the videos from the bands and I truly believe more than half would not be able to make it on their music alone. Most of the lyrics are horrible. The majority pretty much sounds the same.
If your average teen couldn't see the cute front-man for the band it would probably go away.
Look at some of the good bands from the past. Most aren't what you'd call good looking. Some are down right scary. But, people didn't care what they looked like. The music was the draw.
I could go on for days but I will stop. To answer your question, without ever having heard MCR (that I know of) They probably wouldn't be popular if not for their looks/style/video/eccentricities. :)

Is 8 weeks excessive for my fiance's disruptive parents to come and stay with their 47 year old batchelor son? The father in law is critical and mean to my fiance and I can't stand to be around someon with all that negative energy. I am 35 and female. This is a major interuption to our normal lives. My finance allows them to stay with him to avoid hurricane season in their home area of Florida. I need help! (link)

In any normal circumstances I would say yes. But, since he lets them stay for a reason such as avoiding a dangerous situation then probably not.
Sounds like it is something that probably won't change...even after you marry. You will probably have to get used to it or forget it all together.
Your fiance needs to learn to stand up to his father, especially since he is staying in his home. The old "you will do as I say so long as your under my roof" adage works on parents too!
If your fiances parents are able to afford it, he really should suggest they rent their own place during hurricane season. 8 weeks can seem like a long time if everyone doesn't get along.
Is he an only child? If not then maybe he should suggest they spend time with other members of the family as well. Aunts, uncles, cousins...anyplace but yours.
If all else fails, and you live with your fiance...maybe you could make arrangements to be elsewhere for 8 weeks. Maybe he'd get tired of it after a week or two and send them packing. :)

13/m I'm going through puberty, I know it. Nothing physical yet. I'm still short. My voice is still insanely soprano. I don't have any acne yet. No facial hair. But I'm feeling everything mental. I'm getting smarter, I must be since I've been suddenly getting better at chess. And I'm experiencing every one of these what I like to call "true emotions": from love to infatuation, from rejection to jealousy, I'm feeling it all. I can't even remember everything else, I'm so distraught!
Now, if I had someone to talk with, things might be better. But my friends are only going through physical and not emotional/mental so far, except for those two guys who're obsessed with "is she hot?" right now. So many Advicenators are so obsessed with all that 13-year-olds-can't-love crap that their advice winds up getting me more depressed than it does help me. My parents figure that if I haven't physically changed, I couldn't possibly be mentally changing, and so they just tease me about it. I tried keeping a journal, but I'm not good at that stuff. And I'm way too busy to see a therapist or something.
I'm soooooo pissed off at the world, my life sucks. I shouldn't even bother living or making my regular jokes anymore. I'm nothing anymore... please help me!!!

Of course 13 year olds can love and be infatuated, and all the other things you listed.
Will the love last forever, maybe not...its real right now though. Will someone love you the same way? Maybe not, you may be more mature than a lot of others your age. That's where the problems come in. You may have to wait for them to catch up.
Things will get better. You are just experiencing hormonal overload. All teens go through it at one time or another. If there is anything specific I can help with feel free to ask. I may not have your answer but I will try and find it for you. :)

I just wondered this.
I answer questions, and its getting interesting. The people who generally need answers the most are the immature ones. But when you give them an honest answer, they reject it, and rate you a 1.

Oh yes, There are a lot of those kind of questions out there.
Basically, the majority of them want to hear only what they want to hear. If not that, they are looking for someone to just agree with their warped logic.
The problem is figuring out who's who. Because occasionally you do come across one who will give you a good rating because they honestly want help.
If someone really gives you an undeserved 1, file an abuse report and you might get it changed. More than likely you won't get a 5 but you won't have that 1 either. :)

It can yes.
Doesn't mean its an infection necessarily but it could get irritated. Your skin there is just more sensitive. :)

Yes you can get pregnant while on your period.
Yes taking the pill if your pregnant can do harm to the baby.
Take a home test or see your doctor before taking any more pills. Make sure you are not pregnant.
If you start your period...then you can go back on the pill. Do not have unprotected sex in the mean time.
You will also need to be on the pill for a while before it gets in your system. You may want to continue using a condom or other form of birth control for a month or so after you begin taking the pill. :)

My Tenth year highschool reunion is coming up next year and I'm really nervous about it.
This is because me and a guy that I had a mad crush on left on really bad terms.
He was the most popular guy in school, class valedictorian and jock. I was one of the nerds. He new I had a crush on him and he treated me like dirt. He would make out with his girlfriend when I would walk by him in the hallways to upset me. He would play little games to humiliate me, like coming up to his friend whose locker was next to mine just to see me go red in the face.
He even went right up to my friend at the senior prom to hit on her while she was standing next to me and then he ignored me.
The last time I saw him was at the bar 8 years ago. I went up with my friend to talk to him and he completely ignored me even though I said it was my birthday.
Do you think I should go and confront him or just ignore him? This was a long time ago and I think that by now he would have matured a bit. I want to be the better person even though he made me senior year a living hell.

f/14. October 1st is my boyfriend and my four month anniversary. for stupid reasons, we never celebrated other anniversaries. so this is our first. i wanna do something specail for him. any ideas will help. i don't care how cheesy or lame it seems. we like doing that kind of stuff for each other.

Does he like sweets? I always made mine a cake. Doesn't have to be a big one. Something about having his very own cake and a fork he liked! Make it from scratch, there are a lot of good recipes and the ingredients are usually on hand. :)

If you feel there is a future...a happy one with the guy you love then you leave and go with him.
If your husband is that uncaring then why would you stay with him? I don't know the whole story of course, I do know that it is an option, whether husband likes it or not.
If he isn't going to give you the love and attention you need, he shouldn't expect you to stay with him. Good luck. :)

My fiance and I live together with our two children. We have decided to live in a small apartment for now while we are saving for a house. My mother had to move out of her house because of financial hardships about 2 years ago. When she moved, she told me that she would be going between my apartment and her boyfriends apartment until she got her own place. She now has her own place and she is still here. She sleeps on the sofa all the time. My stepmother keeps my kids a lot to give me and their father a break and she still stays here. What should I do? (link)

You really have to get up the nerve to tell her to go home.
She nay be lonely or something but you really need time alone with your family. Just tell her that.
Is it possible for her to find an apartment in your building? Too close? Just a thought.
You really do need to talk to her before it starts affecting your relationship with fiance.

15 is pretty young to be tied down that long in a relationship. Especially if you don't want to be in it anymore. I have found a website I think would be more helpful to you than anything I could come up with. Hope it helps.

She shouldn't panic yet if its only been 2 weeks ago. Stress can cause her not to have her period...and that will cause even more stress.
Right now do your best to keep her calm. If she still hasn't had her period in another couple of weeks. Get a home test and check. If shes really panicking now go ahead and get one now.
One step at a time. If she is then you worry about the parents. Hopefully they will be understanding. :)

Oh how I wish there were! About the only thing to do is put on makeup.
They do have the fake ones you could try. My luck they would half fall off at an inappropriate time. :)
