Hey Everyone :) I'm Kate and a level 2 mod on here. I've had this account since July 2004, so I've been on here since I was 13! Wow ... crazy for me to think how long ago that was. I will admit I don't check in as often as I once did, but being away at college, being in a sorority, and having a job when I'm not at school is very time consuming. I still try to help out as much as possible, and if you send me a question I WILL answer it. This site helped me a LOT when I was in high school and had a lot of questions, and I'm here to help anyone who needs it :) Feel free to write in my forum or send me a question any time!

Ok so I know this site where you can get a person's IP address. So i randomly google'd IP address and i got a site www.ip-adress.com and like you can find out where people live. It's creepy. So I'm just wondering like..why are their sites like this. It's just helping online predators find people to rape and stuff. Any opinions.
P.S. like i seriously looked up my IP on it and it showed my location
Oh my gosh, that is totally freaky. I just clicked on the link and it said my state, city, and everything. That is totally insane!! Ugh, why would people need something like that? I suppose I don't have an answer to your question, but I do totally agree. That is insane. You're probably right. Anyone could get someone elses IP address and look them up. It's not that hard to get an IP address.
That's totally weird. I wonder if there is anything we could do to block it or to block our IP. (I'm only computer savvy with some stuff).
is there a way to find out who said something in your honesty box on facebook? PLEASE i'll take anything! theymos, if you see this, please don't ignore it if you know :]
The honesty box application is meant for people to ANONYMOUSLY make those comments. So to answer your question, more than likely, no. I suppose if you were to go to the site administration they may do something, BUT I doubt it.
Honestly, if you don't like what people are saying then you shouldn't have the box.
School is starting in like less than a month...
and the cross country team is going to start training really soon. The thing is.. out of about the 200 kids in my class NOBODY is doing cross country because the coach is an ahole.
Plus, i have to run 3 MILES this year if i do it. And i cant stand the coach at all either. I dont do any other sports..i mean i love basketball but isnt it really hard to make the team in highschool?
I've already got running shoes, but my mom said we can return them if we need to. Do most people do sports in highschooL?? Cuz if i dont do cross country i will still go to the health club and run anyway...i just wont have the stupid coach. I would try out for the basketball team but our class is HIGHLY competitive in the sport and theres NO WAY i would make it. The only reasons i would do cross country is to be healthy, and to have a sport when trying to go to college. But i would hate having to run alone, and the coach is completely HORRIBLE.
Have you actually met the coach and dealth with him/him on any kind of personal level? Because if not, then you really can't judge just from reputation.
Anyway, if you can handle dealing with the coach, biting your tongue when you're angry, etc. then go for it. Don't let a jerk stop you from doing what you want.
Are you going to be a freshman in high school? If so, go ahead and try out. You could possibly make the JV team and work your way up to varsity. Even as a sophomore you could try out. If you're a junior or older and you don't think you could make varsity I wouldn't bother. To me it's embarrassing to be on jv when you're a junior, but it's nothing compared to being a senior. Most teams don't allow seniors on jv anyway.
If you think you could do all right in basketball then it doesn't hurt trying out, right?
Same with cross country.
Is your cross country coach the same as just the regular track coach? If not, I'd just try out for track. You can still do activities such as the 2-mile and it may not be as much running, but track practice will keep you in shape.
Did I suggest anything worth doing? I'm not sure because I don't know much about your school. My school is pretty competitive in sports. We're a 4a team in most sports so it's a pretty nice rep.
Anyway, I hope it works out for you.
Yes in high school a lot of people do sports. Especially if it's a really small or really big school.
OKay. how old do you have to be to move out of your parents house and not have to listen to them in NY state??
Everyone else has already told you the 16 if emancipated, 18 if not.
They forgot one other option..
When is your birthday? If you graduate high school before turning 18 and college starts before turning 18 I think you have a little loophole there. I could be wrong, but if you're done with high school and already enrolled in college, etc. then why would the law make you stay with them. I'm not 100% sure on that. I suppose if your parents wanted to fight you and you didn't have a good enough lawyer and nice judge they could win, but I doubt they would unless there's some specific law against it that I don't know.
Anyway, go to your local library and see if they have any books on it. A lot of libraries do.
In your opinion...
who do you favor most: Tyra or Oprah?
Please list the reasons why in relations to the other person. I've been curious, so thanks!
I like them both for the most part. I favor Tyra! haha.
I'll admit that Oprah is a good person doing amazing deeds. I used to love to watch her show. More and more though it seems as if she's getting a little too famous-happy. For the past year or so (in my personal opinion) it seems as if she's doing these good deeds to boost her rep. Most people would probably think it doesn't matter why she does them, as long as she does them. I agree with that to an extent. Oprah used to (and still occasionally does) cover the real issues. Now she's just another talk show host who talks with celebritites, etc. I don't want that. Some people do, as a teenager I don't. I want real issues. The one thing that really bugs me about Oprah is that on her show people will be talking and she'll cut them off or she'll try and twist their words to make them seem like a bad person. I know that some of the people made bad choices and possibly are bad people, but she should let the people talk for goodness sake! That is what really irritates me about Oprah. Other than that, I like her.
Tyra on the other hand can relate to teenagers and she covers the real issues. She went 'undercover' as a homeless person. She's helped many girls with personal issues. She brings her momma on the show to help girls with personal issues. She's covered so much. She shows you that although she used to model and be a size whatever, she's happy the way she is now. She does embarassing stuff on the show and shows how average she is at heart. She just, for lack of a better term, seems more real to me. She doesn't come across as fake. Oprah used to seem that way, now she just seems more and more fake.
I watch the Tyra show Monday - Friday, 10am and 3pm (well, when I'm awake and/or not working).
Oprah I catch sometimes if I like what the episode is about.
They're both out in the world doing amazing things for others. It's just the way they come across to their viewers. I think Oprah, as she gets older, is reaching out to impress adults, etc. Tyra is going towards the younger generation. When you're young like I am, she's the one to watch.
does sex hurt?
For girls it will usually hurt the first few times because we're not used to it.
Once you get used to it it feels good.
i have really fair skin. i was out for a few hours on saturday[its one in the morning, monday now]. anyway, i got some sunburn. it's really hard for me to tan without burning. so my mom said i should go out for about a half hour each day and tan gradually. [i've tried it before, but then the next day it'd be like 95 degress..too hot lol] so yeah, my question is, should i wait for my sunburn to heal before i try to go outside for a half hour each day, or would i be ok going out tomorrow [or i guess today]
hah thanks! any advice is appreciatedd :)
I would wait for the burn to heal. I also have the same problem you do when it comes to burning and tanning. I just got back from the beach and I actually got sunpoisening on my back from burning too badly. I got the burn on the 3rd day I was there so from then on every time I went into the ocean I just wore a small shirt that covered the burn.
If you expose a burn to the sun it gets worse because your skin there is already sensative. If you do try that and the burn is in a place where it can be covered and you can tan elsewhere, go for it.
My burn was on my back, my legs are REALLY white, my friends call me Casper haha. So, I let my legs tan to match my upper body. (I love to wear jeans, so my legs stay white, while i wear cami's and such so my upper body gets tanned.
Anyway, that's the only offer I can make. If you can't cover the burn and tan other places of your body then you are MUCH better off waiting =D.

Alright, so I've filled out a few different applications before, but I don't recall this question: "Please enter how many hours per week you are available to work"...So am I supposed to put 168 hours [every hour of the week], or ANY, or what? Sorry, but as you can see I've never had a job before and I just don't know what to put, and it's probably really simple haha, Thanks!
I think it means in total, how many hours do you want to work a week. When I first got my job it was during the school year so I only wanted to work Friday's and weekend. Each shift ranges from 6-7 hours so I said 20 hours a week. Then once school got out for summer I told my manager I wanted to work about 30 hours a week.
Normally it means what's the most amount of hours you're willing to work in a week. Are you willing to work EVERY single day 24 hours? Doubt it, so don't put 168.
haha, I was wondering this too when I filled out my first application. Both my parents are in management and have to hire and fire people, so I just asked them what it meant. =D
I will be a senior this coming school year and I need to apply for scholarships and everything. This summer, I've been working at a camp called Wonderland Camp for kids and adults with mental and physical disabilities. Both my mother and father are on social security. I'm in the top 5 percent of my class. I'm also a vegetarian. My family and I also live under the poverty level..
With these that I listed above..what kinda of scholarships and stuff can I apply for to get into college?
Websites and names of scholarships would be so helpful!
I'm going to give you the website that has helped me the most (I'm also a rising senior).
www.fastweb.com
It asks for some information then sends you links to your e-mail about scholarships that match your qualities, etc.
Like I've always been interested in edcaution and careeres similar to it. So I've got stuff like that listed for possible majors and it sends me e-mails every time it recognizes a scholarship I could possibly get.
Also, go to www.collegeboard.com if you don't already have an account there. It's a good site for help with anything college related.
If you have anymore questions about related websites then feel free to let me know. I'm in a rush and that fastweb was the first site that came to mind (mainly because I always have e-mails from them.) Good luck, you'll probably do well getting the scholarships. I'm a nervous wreck about it haha.

i was looking at someones feedback, and almost all of their ones and twos said "rating changed by level 2 mod." when they were legite ratings because the person that answered the question gave crappy answers. why can the mods. change the rating if the person gave a bad answer?
I'm one of the *about 10* admins who can do that.
1's for abuse and only abuse. You shouldn't rate a one unless the person did something where they should get banned.
We change a lot of 1's.
Some people rate low because they're told what they don't want to here. They're in denial or just want someone to agree with them. We're not here to agree, we're here to give the best advice possible; to help the person as much as we can and tell them how we would handle the situation.
Some people get 1's for saying "spell correctly" or for mocking the questioneers bad spelling/grammar/punctuation or lack there of, etc.
Normally, I'll bump those to a 2 because the person needs to hear it (unless they're from a country where it's hard to translate properly). Because although they didn't answer the actual question, they weren't being harmful. Sometimes, if they correct them and then answer the question properly I'll bump it to a 3.
We hardly ever change anything to a 4. Even more rarely do we change it to a 5 (in fact, I'm not sure I've ever changed anything to a 5). A 3 is a good rating. People don't seem to understand that.
Also, we don't lower ratings. If someone feels that (in my opinion) bad advice deserves a 5, we don't really mess with that. It's up to you.
We get a LOT of abuse reports from columnists hoping to get their ratings or someone elses bumped up. We have 2 particular columnists who file reports constantly because people were unfairly rated.
This is how columnists should be rated here (for the most part.. ) If they are unjustly given a 1 or 2, we change it. Here's how I define the ratings. Some people may or may not agree. Most of the admins ideas come pretty close to this. I made this up myself, so they probably don't all agree 100%. Here's my opinion anyway.
1's are to be given when someone gives you abusive or potentially harmful advice. You rate a one when you honestly think that the person needs to be banned. Not when they tell you something you need to know but don't want to hear - but when they tell you to slit your wrists, shoot your neighbor, go fight someone, etc. When they give you HARMFUL or ABUSIVE advice and NEED to be banned! That's why you rate a one. If you rate someone a 1 then you should follow through by making an abuse report. [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) If you have a question on how to properly file a report (believe me, many people do it incorrectly) let any moderator (preferably L2) know and they should be helpful in explaining it.
2's are to be given when the advice isn't quite what you were looking for. Maybe they misread your question or told you something you already knew (especially if you stated in the question that you already knew that). The advice isn't quite harmful and the person shouldn't be banned, it just didn't help.
3's are to be given when you know the user really tried to answer your question. It cleared up your question to an extent. It may not have been the best answer given ,but it helped. It was good enough to be taken seriously, possibly followed. Not amazing, but it helped. You may not use their advice, but you know that if you do it would work. This is the HIGHEST rating you should give IF the answer has improper spelling/grammar/punctuation to an extent. Everyone makes mistakes, but when it's on purpose (for example, people "tYp3 Liik3 thIIs nD lyKKe Dii$, etc) they do not deserve better than a 3, no matter how good their advice is. The need to at least use capitalization and punctuation.
4's are for pretty good advice. The person not only put effort into answering your question, but you're using their advice, and it works! If their answer is not typed nicely (correct spelling, grammar, punctuartion as best as possible) then they should NOT receive a 4. It could be the best answer you receive but if it's not typed as nicely as possible than it SHOULD NOT receive better than a 3!
5's are saved for the BEST advice possible. The person went above and beyond to answer your question. They took their time, you've used their advice, and it works perfectly, no flawys. Everything turns out great. Maybe they researched something for you, looked up a few websites for you to use. They're spelling/grammar/punctuation/capitalization skills are that of a high school english teacher. They typed like they would if they had to write an essay for an AP Sernior English class.
Any other questions about anything that admins deal with, feel free to ask me to my inbox. Or any other level 2+ admin.

ok so if you'r fingerin urself which angle do you go ? I never tryed it , so ya thnxs
I've never done it myself, but my friends and I had a strange conversation in school a while ago so I can tell you what we came up with haah.
Back to front is what we came up with.
Yes, my friends and I have strange conversations.
Ok so i need answers here! Me and my boyfriend were dry humping and i was wearing a skirt and his penis was out. I was kinda giving him a lap dance and my underwear was wet from what im thinking was myself. Im not sure if he came or not but what are the chances im pregnant? he fingered me before too but b4 there was any contact with his penis and im kinda hurting now cause i think he went deep. PLEASE HELP!And tell me can the sperm (if he even came) travel through my underwear and into me? Could i be pregnant and what can i do? Thanks in advance
From what I *think* it can't travel through the actual underwear. But if anything that touched his penis came into contact with your vagina there would always be a possibilty. Since he fingered you before touching his penis you should be fine with that.
As long as the wetness was YOU then you should be okay.
Since I'm not 100% sure I'm going to claim a minimal percentage of the chance of you being pregnant.
The ONLY way you can be pregnant is if sperm came into contact with your vagina. As long as you were wearing underwear you *should* be okay though.
Don't worry about it for now. If you stress it could cause a delay in your period. Just assume you're not. If you miss your next period, take the test. Always better safe than sorry.
I'm flying SouthWest Airlines tomorrow. I have one question. Are you allowed to bring liquids that are more than 3 oz in CHECKED luggage, the one that isn't your carry-on? I know the whole ziploc bag routine thing. Thanks.
If it's not carry-on then it doesn't really matter what you have. I'm wrong, it does matter- as long as you don't have any illegal weapons, etc. then you're okay. haha.
But yeah, if it's not carry on then you'll be fine. =D
Have a safe trip!
my friends grandfather died this morning. hes really hurt. but i dont know what to say to him. im scared ill say something wrong. what should i tell him?
I've experienced people I care about dying and everyone deals with it differently.
Some people try to be cheerful, some just want to be left alone and cry.
Most of the time nothing anyone says helps, they've already heard it. Sometimes it feels worse.
Let him know that you hate that he has to experience this pain. Offer him a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on. Tell him that if he ever wants to talk then you'll be there to listen.
The biggest thing of all - follow through! If he needs to to listen or just hold him while he cries, that's all you can do.
When my best friend died I needed physical contact with people, nothing dirty, just hugs and stuff like that. I was in a state of mind where I needed to be able to touch people, constantly make sure they were there. It was the first time anyone close to me had ever died. She was killed in a car wreck so it was a sudden death.
Anyway, whatever you do - don't say that you understand or know how he's feeling. Unless you lost a grandfather you were close to (through death). Because if you haven't experienced a grandfather who you loved die, then you don't know what he's feeling (even if you've experienced someone elses death).
Just be there for your friend and let him know that you're there for him. There really isn't anything else you can do.
http://www.advicenators.com/abuse.php?mode=view&aid=2323
I filed this one, and no one has taken care of it for almost 3 days. What's the hold up?
I just checked it out and DN took care of it. I'm not sure what the hold up was.
ok heres the deal i had sex like 2 weeks ago and well i was throwing up like afterwards for the first couple days i i thought i could be pregnate but i got my period but it is a really light period i normally last 5-7 days and this one was 3days could i be pregnate or not
There is always a chance of pregnancy after sex. Also, just because you thow up a day or two after doesn't make you pregnant. Actually, morning sickness doesn't kick in that quickly anyway.
Also, the other people who answered said period=no pregnancy, that's right and wrong.
A friend of mine got her period about 3 weeks after having sex. Then about a 2 after that she started spotting (a symptom of being pregnant). The spotting continued so she went to the doctor the following week. She was told that she could be 6 weeks pregnant. She told the doctor that wasn't possible because she had her period 2 weeks after having sex. The doctor told her that it didn't matter.
We always thought that if it's more than a week after having sex and then you get your period you're not pregnant, but apparantly that's not the case.
Don't stress too much because it will delay your period from coming again. If you haven't already, it's about time you take a pregnancy test. If it comes out negative quit your worrying. If you miss your next period take another test. If it still comes out negative see a doctor to have a formal test, just to make sure.
Any time you have sex you can get pregnant. Whether you use protection, whether he pulls out (pre-cum which isn't always noticeabe is enough to get a girl pregnant) or in any scenario where sperm has come into contact with your vagina.
My suggestion is to ALWAYS use protection. Also, it's about time you get a pregnancy test- just incase.
i dream of an elevator going up and down rapidly. i press buttons and panic that the door will open so i dont stop and theres only the up and down button which i press one after the other nonstop. and theres people coming after me so that heightens the panic. does this symbolize anything?
That you're afraid of elevators and/or heights?
Technically dreams are just your subconscience or some mumbo jumbo like that.
Did you know that we are constantly dreaming while asleep and that we only remember our last dream, or our longest/biggest/scariest/happiest or something like that?
I'm not sure about details, but some foods trigger weird dreams (or so it seems. Everytime I eat cheese before I go to bed I dream about my ex best friend who was lactose intolerant. I'm not really sure why, I suppose it's something subconsciously - or so I've always been told.
I've also been told that you dream about whatever you're last thinking of (like in the back of your mind) when you sleep. Which is supposedly the reason you tend to have nightmares when you sleep stressed out.
There are a bunch of websites you could go to so you can get your dream interpreted. Just google "dream interpretation" or something along those lines.
There are bumps on my vag, usually about 5 or 6 at a time (not all clustered like cellulite). Some of them look like pimples that match my skin color, and there's usually one or two that have the texture and size of a mosquito bite. There's also this one bump that looks kind of like a scar. It's about an eigth of an inch long , is several shades darker than my skin color, and is surrounded by a VERY VERY thin yellow-whitish line. and these bumps sometimes itch.
additional info:
-i am a virgin, so no STIs..
-i masturbate on average four-five times a week, depends on where i am in my cycle
-14/f
what is it, and should i be worried/get help?
It could be razor burn. If you've ruled out that possibilty then you should talk to someone. A mom, friend, friends mom, etc. If they think it's something you should be worried about (and/or if it'sbeen going on for a while, not clearing up, etc) then you should see a doctor.
I reccomend the doctor the most if this isn't just a one time thing and/or if it's irritating you.
Is Harry Potter and friends doing sixth and seventh?
My friend and I were disagreeing please give me some advice.
Do you mean are the actors and actresses who play the characters going to be in the 6th and 7th movie, or are you just asking if they plan on having one?
I'm pretty sure that the answer to both is yes.
The books are VERY popular (I have my 7th book already pre-ordered). So are the movies, so I wouldn't doubt that they're going to keep them coming.
Ok well in my family to everyone it should be that the oldest sibling should be smarter then the younger one but the younger one should be better looking then the older one since they have mroe youth.
If it's reversed or something is messed up with that, it's sad, embarrassasing, or like a 'hah you suck' feeling.
Well after being depresed and out of therapy I've finally kinda worked a little bit with my looks and now everytime we have to go visit my relatives (which is once a week), the first thing they say to my little sister is HAH YOUR SISTER IS PRETTIER THEN YOU LOL YOU'RE UGLY!
which really upsets her and every time they do it I can see that she's really hurt and is about to cry.
Is there any advice you can give me? I wish I could say something helpful to her but I can't. I have a lot of friends but when they talk to me about their problems i odn't have anything motivative to say like CHEER UP! It's nto realyl in my nature.
I don't have much more to add, I just wanted to say that sdcutie717 gave you awesome advice for this. I don't always know how many people follow the advice here, so I think the best I can do with this is to back her up on her answer.
It feels horrible to have someone tell you that you're ugly. Your sister must feel aweful. There are a few things you can do (and should). First, as sdcutie717 said, reassure your sister and make sure she knows that she's beautiful just the way she is. Personality and looks. That she's just as pretty, important, and special as you are.
Then, not only should you just roll your eyes or play off what your family is saying/doing. You should correct them. Be polite about it, but make sure they know that their behaviour is not okay. It's possibly emotionally abusive to your little sister. They have no right to make her feel crappy about herself. She's got just as many feelings as others and it hurts just as much to have them stepped on.
Just give her a hug and tell her that your relatives have no idea what they're talking about. If you can work up the nerve to say something to them - do it while she's there. Then (if able to) you should take your sister and leave wherever they are. Tell them that you don't want to be around people who have nothing better to do than judge.
I may be overreacting, I'm not sure how serious the situation is. (Of course, it's always serious when you hurt somebody's feelings that way). Anyway, what you need to do is try to work up the nerve and say something to your family. Then of course make sure your sister feels loved and appreciated.
You're a good big sister, trying to look out for your little sister and do what's right. Be proud of that - if you stick up for your sister, she'll be proud of you and happy to be your sister.
