"Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and, above all those who live without love" - Albus Dumbledore

Hi, I'm Laura. I'm a senior in college & I'm slowly deciding what I want to do with my life. I love Harry Potter, coffee, writing, and sleeping (amongst other things). I'll never claim to know everything, but I'm confident in my ability to help people with their problems. Feel free to send me an inbox question; I'll get back to you!

A few thoughts I've gathered from my teenage years (and being on this site for most of them!):
1. If you Google song lyrics, the song will come up 99% of the time.
2. Dress to fit your body type, and buy the size that fits. If you're a size 6, squeezing into a 4 won't make you look skinnier. It makes you look fat when you aren't.
3. You will never regret waiting to lose your virginity.
4. There is such a thing as a stupid question, but we're all allowed to ask them.

BU 2014 :)

wicked awesome conversations

^my forum, liven it up a little?

advice

i got fingered for the first time and at certain points it kind of hurt..like i was telling him what i liked but i kept getting tense and shaky and it hurt a little bit...i use tampons too soo i don't get it...oh and do you think my cherrys popped now? i didn't bleed when he fingered me but i could have bled when i had my period so i wouldnt have known....thankkss.

You pretty much answered your own question here: you were tense. That'll make it less enjoyable. Also since it was your first time it's obviously something you weren't used to. Maybe ask him to start out more slowly. And it may seem obvious, but make sure his nails are smooth.

Yes, you could have broken your hymen. But it could have broken years ago, too. There's really no way to tell, but breaking your hymen doesn't equal losing your virginity.

hey i have a hidden file on a flash drive and forgot the name how do i get into it"?

Go to My Computer. Find the flash drive when it's connected. Click on "tools" (at the top) and go to "folder options". Then, go to the "View" tab, and somewhere in that list there is an option to "Show hidden files and folders".

Everything should now show up, and the hidden files will appear faded :]

Hey guys, has anyone used celebrity sexy teeth and been happy with it? I read the reviews on google, but I just wanted to make sure they werent staged. My teeth are extremely sensitive, so if you have any teeth whiteners that work with minimal pain, that would be great!

Arm and Hammer Advance White toothpaste. You can get it for about three dollars at Target, maybe $4.50 at a supermarket. At first glance it may seem like a cheap/generic/worthless product, but I can assure you it is not!

(Wow, that sounded like a sales pitch)

I've used this toothpaste ever since I ran out of my usual kind a few years ago, and this was all we had in the house ;] I constantly get compliments on how white my teeth are. And I drink coffee and tea on a daily basis (to the point that my teeth SHOULD be brown, haha). I have WICKED sensitive teeth (because of an injury to my front teeth) and after about a week of use, my teeth didn't have any increased sensitivity after using it (and if you do experience any, it'll be brief)

Teeth whiteners are more or less the same. Unless it's a professional kit (from your dentist) whitestrips all have the same ingredients at the same concentrations. A product like Crest Whitestrips will work just fine.

How much do lumineers cost? How much would they cost for only two teeth, the two front teeth? My mom said they cost over 1,000 dollars (United States) for two teeth, but thats really difficult to believe...a rip off actually! Thanks

Yes, they really do cost that much.
It can range anywhere from $700 to over $2000 per tooth, depending on the prep work that must be done and such.

Dental insurance sometimes covers the first $1000 of dental work done per year, but you have to factor in the cost of co-pays as well.

I don't know why you're looking to get veneers (Lumineers being a more expensive version, I believe, because its a different process), but there are alternatives for many cases. I fell off my bike and cracked my front tooth in half. It only cost my parents $250 to have bonding material shaped and bonded to my tooth, and it looks completely natural. Pretty cheap compared to Lumineers :]

I forget what its name is, but it's wider and thinner than Chewy bars, and its box has some kind of yellow on it. Its chocolate covered, and REALLY good :] and I've been dying to find it.

Kudos bar?
I think the boxes used to have more yellow on it.

Ok so between my eyebrows I have 2 small scars because of 2 pimples i had gotten a month ago. when they first came i was stupid enough to pop them, leaving the small scars. my friends say its not noticeable unless someone's like IN my face or something haha. but, i hate that it's there. i feel like you can see them. its annoying. so ive been using this stuff from clean n' clear. its supposed to diminish acne scars. ive been using it for a week so i know i cant expect miracles yet. i also use a face wash from clean n' clear, for a week too. i just hope they both work. my questions are:

Do these pimple scars last forever?

Will guys care if I have them in between my eyebrows? (i know..its stupid to ask that)

and

do you know of anything else thats cheap that can help just incase the stuff im using now doesn't work? maybe home remedies, if there are any?

thanks in advance :)

Guys won't care. If there's a guy close enought o your face to actually notice them, I can pretty much guarantee that looking for acne scars isn't on his agenda ;]

Plus, us girls have this magical stuff called concealer at our disposal. As long as it doesn't look fake, I've found that it really helps cover acne acars, especially when set with powder.

Someone told me ages ago that salicylic acid helps prevent and reduce scarring. So I've used a spot treatment with that ingredient ever since, and my skin seems to have really improved over time. (New acne happens less often, scars seem to fade faster)

You can buy spot treatments for less than $10, even $5, at WalMart or Target.

so there was this party the other night. my girlfriend went with her friends but i couldnt because i was working. there were kids from other schools there too. well the way i heard it was that this one dude was messing with my girl all night. flirting with her and stuff and that about halfway into the party he grabbed her ass. she slapped his hand away and i guess he flipped out. he pushed her over and kicked her. i want to kill him. shes got this huge nasty bruise and she scraped up her arm and hand when he pushed her onto the pavement. i dont think ive ever been this furious. i feel guilty too that if i had been there to protect her, it wouldnt have happened. i know who he is because ive played him in football, and i want to kick his ass. it would upset my girlfriend who told me that i shoudl just leave it alone. but at this point i would rather kill this kid and have her be pissed at me then just sit around and let him get away with it. im thinking about just doing it and not telling her. he should have the balls to not go crying to anyone about it right> might not be a good idea though... what do you guys think?

Please, please, don't retaliate. All it will accomplish is you getting in trouble for assault. I know it's tempting but it's really not a great idea, when viewed from my perspective.

Also, it's NOT your fault that you weren't there. You said it yourself, that you were working. YOu didn't say "I'm not going to go so that a guy I know from football can hit on my girlfriend".

Instead, take care of your girlfriend. Talk to a trusted adult if possible, and see if there's anything you can do to this guy in terms of assault charges and whatnot.

I know that you care about your girlfriend, and even though you threatened violence against someone else, under the circumstances I can understand why. You seem like a really nice guy, so do the right thing here, alright?

Revenge, although fun to plot, is rarely worth it. Did you hear about those four women who Krazy Glued a guy's penis to his body because he cheated on his wife with three other women? They're all sitting in a jail cell now ;].

Hi, I'm 14 and I have a problem...my boyfriend is really really short and I'm rather tall, I'm about 6 inches taller than him. Everyone at skool makes fun of us whenever we're together all all the stuff. And he sucks at kissing. My friends have told me to break up with him because of our height difference, but I'm very close to loving him. I like him alot and I really don't wanna break up with him, but I don't know if I can stand the jokes anymore. What should I do? And is it true that shorter guys have big dicks?

If you seriously think you should break up with a guy because someone else makes a joke, I think you're too immature to be in a relationship.

Anyway, if he's a bad kisser, train him:

And you cannot determine the size of a guy's penis by using any method besides looking at it.
Size of hands, feet, whatever. Doesn't matter.

15/f so i have a mole in a rather awkward spot, in my inner thigh vagina area. i REALLY wanna get it removed obvioulsy because im scared if someone sees it they would freak out or something. I have other moles on my body, and i got one removed the other day, and im getting the others removed soon. i thought that would be the perfect opportunity to get it removed right? wrong! my dad decided that he HAD to come in the room with me for some reason. so i don't know when i am ever going to get them removed! i heard that you can actually remove moles yourself, but im scared...that is a delicate spot and im sure it could get infected easily right? what should i do, any advice? i want it gone!

More than likely, your dad assumed that you'd be more comfortable with him there. Just tell him honestly that you're having a mole removed from an awkward spot and you'd rather have him step outside.

If he's concerned that you'd be alone in the room with the doctor, you can ask if a nurse could be in the corner of the room. Many doctors do this already, to prevent potential accusations of assault and such.

i'm on the birth control yaz, have been on birth control for about 3 years now but i was just wondering, when is the best time to have sex? meaning, when is the time you are LESS likely to get pregnant, because i heard that there are times where you're more fertile but i don't know if that matters if your on the BC or not.

thanks :)

If you're taking your pill correctly, you won't get pregnant because the pill prevents ovulation. Meaning that there's no egg there to be fertilized.

So no, that method won't really apply. Plus, sperm can live for days inside of your body, and still be capable of fertilizing an egg (If one was even there)

If you're still concerned, use condoms as a backup method.

I want to try contacts.
I have an rx for my glasses prescription already thats up to date.
Do I need to make an eye doctor appointment to get an rx for contacts or is it the same prescription?

Matt's completely right.

I'd also like to add that a contact lens prescription has more information attached to it, like the precise shape of the lens that fits your eye. They do all that at the fitting/evaluation, and it makes contacts infinitely more comfortable to wear.

So yes, you'll need an appointment. Make sure you mention contacts when you schedule it, because it takes more time to do =)

EDIT: Uhhh, suggesting a product designed to make your hair smooth and sleek is an abusive answer? Thanks for the 1.

Any other method of thinning usually damages your hair a lot. Layers can usually help, but a product is usually needed to make hair smooth...

im looking for a pendant/charm that is the state of california and it has a little black diamond where L.A. is .. the one i saw was silver and solid because i've seen similar ones that is just the outline of california... anyone know where i can buy it??

The site is legitimate. They have mail-order catalogs in airplanes (if you couldn't tell by the name)

I know you were looking for a diamond, but I've never seen one with a diamond. You could always order one without personalization, and take it to a place like Things Remembered and have them engrave a diamond for you in the right location.

hello

I have been overweight since my adolesence, since a tragic event in my life.

I was 220 lbs. but i am proud to say that my everyday activities have helped me get down to 190.

so ive lost 30 lbs, but im still at an unhealthy weight, im scared for my health, and looking better isnt bad either.

im mainly wanting to do this, for my health. as long as Im healthy, i dont care what size i am.

so my question is:

Does anyone have any tips or recipes that they can pass on to me? I am someone who is very busy with family and have minimal time to work out. I mainly am looking for healthy eating tips and support. Im having trouble getting through this on my own.

I answered a similar question recently. Just substiitute "school" with "work" and whatnot ;]

whats the extra scene in the new harry potter movie? i dont know what people are talking about

also

did the scene where he saw the "pretty girl" happen in the book? i dont remember

I don't remember the Burrow catching fire in the book.

I'm rereading the books in a vain attempt to put off my summer reading, and the scene in the restaurant at the beginning is (my interpretation, anyway) an elaboration of Harry being in a tavern (as many characters often do throughout the series) and also expanding on the theme of relationships that's in movie six a LOT.

The scene where Ron sits between Harry and Ginny... that's also what I'm talking about. Expanding on ideas that are already there in the book :]

My senior pictures are coming up soon so i need to know what color shirts i should pick out. i have hazel eyes, fair skin and brown hair with lots of blonde highlights in it. thankss!

Bring all of your favorites. Almost any color will work, because a good photographer will know what background to use and will get the lighting just right.

So bring anything you're comfortable in, that is also "you". Have fun :]

what days do you celebrate with your significant other? besides the anniversary (day you guys met/got together)? why do some people celebrate like the 4th month?

My boyfriend and I usually do something special on our 'anniversary' dates. We'll go out to dinner somewhere nicer than where we'd usually go. This is gonna sound like, cheap, and stuff... but for awhile, we've been going to places like Taco Bell, KFC, etc, because I'd never eaten at most fast food places. So we'd go somewhere like, the Cheesecake Factory instead- we ARE still on a budget ;].

I've noticed that as people date for a really long time this tends to go by the wayside. Sometimes we'll barely acknowledge that it's the first of the month... we'll mention it and that's the end of it :] We have a pretty steady relationship, so another month isn't as major as it used to be.

My hair is thick, coarse, curly, frizzy, and never shiny. I love the way it looks when it's wet, but as soon as it starts to dry you can see how dull and frizzy it is. When I look up curly hair styles, almost every person is wearing their hair down, which I haven't done for years. It simply doesn't work. Lately I've been half-french-braiding my hair, but I want something new to try. Any tips?

This product was a miracle for me :] It seems expensive, about $20 a bottle, but in reality that bottle lasts me for about six months, and I use a good amount of it every day.

Also, pay attention to the shampoo and conditioner you're using. Curly hair is often very dry, which could explain the dullness and frizziness. Use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, or try one made for curly hair. Get your hair trimmed, because split ends make hair look terrible. Try braiding your hair when it's barely damp (and after applying a serum, mousse, or gel) and leave it in overnight. It may not work, but for some people it creates perfect waves.

It'll take awhile to find "your" perfect product. Whether it's a gel or mousse, you'll know when the product works for you because your hair will look amazing. Regardless of what you decide on, I recommend always using a serum first, because it really helps to make your hair behave :]

Hi,
I don't know how this is going to sound, but I'll try my best to make it clear.

Basically a guy kissed me the other night and I dont know what happened to me! I completely froze! I mean everything BUT my lips funtioned. I couldn't get myself to kiss back or anything, and I wasn't nervous. When he kissed me, he kinda put his whole mouth over my lips, so could that have been the reason that i didn't have a reaction to him? I mean I like him and everything, but why wouldn't I be able to respond?

I'm confused! Has anyone ever had this happen before?

I'd say you were surprised by it more than anything else. Take the initiative and kiss HIM first next time, so he doesn't have a chance to put his whole mouth over your lips again ;]

It also could have been that you really like him and froze from the shock of it. I noticed the first time I kissed my boyfriend, it was so different from what I was used to before (but still wicked awesome). Like not in a bad way, it's just really different. So freezing up might have been your body's natural reaction.
