Sweetie, I'm 5'7 and weigh about 190. My doctor (who by the way weighed about 300 pounds) kept telling me my BMI was way too high... but I'm a Black Belt in karate! It doesn't mean you're unhealthy or too heavy. Don't worry about it, and NEVER resort to losing your muscles just so some silly boy will like you. Real men like you for who you are :)

Honestly, it's better if you write it up yourself. That way you know your way around the sheet, so you can find things better. I know it takes a while, but reading through everything in order to compile the sheet really helps to reinforce your knowledge. I'm currently taking my second physics course in university, so I know what it's like :)

There's honestly nothing to be embarassed about. By the time I was in grade 8, I weighed the same as you... it took me till recently to realize that the girls who look like sticks aren't as attractive as a girl who is happy with her curves :)

Just a note to add to the other person's advice... don't eliminate sugar, because sugar is found in fruits and other healthy food. What you want to do is avoid refined carbohydrates, like the sugar you find in candy, etc.

Don't worry, you're experiencing something totally normal: because guys in high school are idiots (no offense boys). I didn't like guys in high school at ALL, but now that I'm in university, and they're starting to become more mature, I'm liking the men who are my age more and more.

Don't worry too much... It happens to the best of us. I'm not sure what year sophomore is (I'm Canadian) but I know that in my last year of high school, I lost a lot of my good friends from before, just because we were all figuring out what we wanted to do in the future, and realizing that we were all different people. Try to get out there and meet new people, join activities. You sound like a wonderful, caring person and you should have no problem making friends.

Both. Wear both. I've had leaks from just tampons, but if you wear a pad that'll catch any small leakage.

I know you're probably sick to death of people lecturing you on your age... but seriously, don't have sex yet. I was nearly 18 when I had sex the first time, and I have no regrets. At 12-13, you just don't have the mental, emotional or physical equipment to deal with the many consequences of being sexually active. Trust me on that, just wait till you're at least 16. You've got your whole life ahead of you to deal with that :)

Well, people use it as a pleasant euphemism for taking your virginity. It comes from the fact that your hymen is broken :)

OMG just reading some of these answers made me want to gag. Don't be one of those dumb girls who acts all stupid around guys she likes. Keep at it! Any guy who is scared by a strong personality and a sense of humour isn't worth dating. I have the same problem, but I decided to stick to my guns, and I've found some great guys now that I'm away at university, and they LOVE that I have a personality. It's high school boys who want to feel superior to someone, trust me. You're just ahead of your time for strength of personality!

Have you heard the emo song? "You could be nonconformist too if you looked just like me" LOL A lot of emo kids are just silly clones. If you're not afraid to be a little different, then props to you! You're the true individual, and you can make fun of them!

If it's positive, you just have to discuss it with your mom and consider your options. Are you strongly opposed to abortion? Make sure you consider it, but look at the pros and cons of each option you have. Don't listen to the people who are against abortion as a source for information because they have a strong, not necessarily informed opinion. You're only 14, it could harm your body to have a child at this early age. Just make sure that you do what's best for you and what's best for (if it's positive) the child. Can you handle raising a child right now? Just remember in the future, no matter what, that sex is a really big responsibility, and there's a reason why people say to wait till you're older... you have to be able to deal with the consequences, and you're not necessarily able to do that at 14, no matter how mature you are.

Well, what's the habit? If it's something minor, let it slip... If you really like the guy, it shouldn't matter. But if it's something that's dangerous to his health, or that you have a serious moral opposition to (such as drugs), then you should have a talk with him, make him understand how important it is to you that he stop it. If he's as great as you say he is, he should understand this and want to change :)

That's fine! Especially as you get older, too much makeup is a HUGE turnoff to guys... I only wear mascara on a daily basis now, and I'm glad I do... cuz my guy friends all make fun of the girls who try too hard. Natural beauty is key, and I'm glad you see that!

I tried EVERYTHING to get rid of a hickey that my (female) friend gave me a couple weeks ago... nothing worked! So, what I did was get some great cover-up, that worked wonderfully!

A hint... don't wear a skirt... When you're drunk, things can happen that you normally wouldn't allow to happen when you're sober. And a skirt just makes that easier. Trust me on that one... pants give you that little extra time to sober up and say no.

Well, there are other ways of "expressing your love", so to speak, without the same risk of pregnancy. You can always try mutual masturbation or oral sex, those are both very fun ways of taking care of your urges without sex. I'd really suggest holding out on full-blown sex until you're a little bit older, I know, it sounds really preachy, but in order to be regularly having sex, you have to be able to deal with issues like protection, STDs and pregnancy; and at 13 years old, NOBODY is fully equipped to do so, even if they're exceptionally mature, as I'm sure you must be. :)

Don't worry about it! I used to be the world's biggest tomboy: I didn't even own a barbie till I was 8! I spent my childhood playing with toy trucks and lego, and it was HELL trying to get me into a dress. Now, I've retained my somewhat tomboyish ways of thinking, but I'm a very girly person :) Some guys actually appreciate being able to understand their point of view, so you're a lucky person!

Aww I remember my first time with my ex bf...and it was awful. I hated kissing him. But as you grow to really like the person and be more and more attracted to them, it's a lot more fun and spontaneous, and you just do what comes naturally. :)

My name is Amanda and I'm 26 years old. I'm currently studying electrical engineering. Armed with a fairly odd sense of humour and a sunny outlook on life, I'll take on just about anything. I'm also cussedly stubborn, which has its ups and downs. Things get tough sometimes, and I've never been one to run from it.

In my last 8 years with Advicenators, I've gone from honours student to failing out of university (and getting back on top again!), from single to married, from tenant to homeowner.

Until lately, I have been struggling with a diagnosis of bipolar disorder and OCD, which had basically ruined my life and taken just about everything from me. I'm thankful every day for every experience I've had because of this ordeal, because it's helped to make me who I am today. Things like that really make you appreciate what you do have. Now that I'm back in work and school and starting to become myself again, I couldn't be happier. I credit Advicenators with saving my life back when I was a teenager, which is a big part of why I'm still here.
