So, I am about to have a baby and someone mentioned that there are a bunch of places that will send you baby stuff in your mailbox if you just ask for it? How do you do this? Is there a list of companies that do this, or do you just have to write everyone and hope they send you something? LOL!

Never2bAlone answered Tuesday May 13 2014, 2:51 pm: Sorry but companies don't generally do this. I'm not aware of your age, martial status, or financial situation but assuming you are in the United States every state has a family support division and WIC program. WIC will provide you with food and formula. The family support will provide cash you can use to buy diapers and wipes. They will also provide food stamps medicaid and childcare if you are disabled working or attending school. However you have to make under a certain amount of money to qualify for these services. The family support division will also have numbers of charities in your area that might give you clothing and other baby care needs. If you aren't working and you aren't married or have no one to help you make sure you stay on top of all appointments meetings interviews and anything else you need to have or do to receive the help. Don't put this off. Get started right away and follow through. It's much easier to now then it will be after you have the baby. Don't rely on any free samples or coupons these are not reliable or sufficient resources. These are simply marketing tools or advertisements to get you to buy whatever sample they give you. tats answered Thursday May 8 2014, 11:59 am: You will feel more happy if you buy things yourself for the baby by visiting shops. That way you will also get even more options and maybe even better and cheaper goods. [ tats's advice column | Ask tats A Question ]
ReikaFox answered Thursday May 8 2014, 11:29 am: Baby shower registries have become very common. I'd be willing to say that just about any chain store that you go to would have a scanner option where you manually scan the items you want on your registry, if not the online options that let you put things on your list from a computer either at home or in their store.
The easiest way to let people know that you have a registry is to include a small note in the invitation. Such as: "Registered at Target.com" or whatever.

That website has a bunch of samples from different companies you just choose what you want all free and if you go to the similac strong moms website (link below) you can get $329 worth of formula and other products free don't forget to ask the nurse at the hospital for your dredge diaper bag.
pinkpolkadots answered Monday May 5 2014, 2:47 am: The only way that most companies will do this is if there is something in it for them. Think about it: If you were a business person with a product--why would you just give away your product for free?
In almost all cases where this happens, the person receiving the product has agreed to do an honest review of the product in some kind of forum. Usually, this is in a blog or some other kind of web venue. Also, it usually is not the blogger who requests a free product. The marketing department at these companies will seek out blogs with a strong readership that are related to their product, and then approach the blogger with the intention of reaching the blog's audience.
The only other instance would be if a charity requests a product donation, but you would then need to ask the charity for help rather than the company themselves.
Some baby supply stores have promotions where if you sign up for a baby registry, they will give you a free product bag. Usually these contain sample sizes of various products that sell well in their stores. Again, though, the store is not necessarily giving these things away for free--they are doing so because you've just signed up to have your friends and family spend a bunch of money at their store!
Katlyn answered Monday May 5 2014, 1:25 am: You could search google for samples but most times you would have to do something in return such as a long survey or join some sort of subscription yourself. Also some times you will have to pay for shipping and handling so technically isn't really free. [ Katlyn's advice column | Ask Katlyn A Question ]
Pittguy answered Sunday May 4 2014, 11:57 am: I don't know a lot about this area but I can tell you that I actually work with a company that can set you up with different things if you just register with them.
The company is called the Expectant Mother's Guide and can be found at www.expectantmothersguide.com.
ShineyStarz answered Sunday May 4 2014, 12:22 am: If you type baby samples onto Google, there are direct links to some giveaways. Specifically freebies.about.com is a good one.
Bargainmom.net is a good site that you can constantly go visit or enter your email address to get emailed whenever they post something do you don't gave to revisit the site.
Sunshine answered Saturday May 3 2014, 10:05 pm: The best way is to contact the companies and let them know how much you like their products. Most of the time they will send coupons and samples. [ Sunshine's advice column | Ask Sunshine A Question ]
LM answered Saturday May 3 2014, 7:27 pm: Follow freebie sites such as dealseekingmom.com and hunt4freebies.net. I've gotten tons of stuff that way!
If you're formula feeding or know someone who is/will be, sign up for Similac Strong Moms. They mail you checks you can use with coupons at the grocery store for formula, as well as samples. I can confirm personally that this one works, because I signed up to give things to my cousins for their kids.
Never give out your social security number for a freebie. Those are scams! Full warning - you'll be getting a lot of emails, so I really recommend that you make a separate email for your free stuff.
Sign up for free magazines, especially parenting ones. Those often contain valuable coupons and freebie offers!
Also, several companies will sell your info to similar companies - for example, you might get mail from Pampers after doing the Similac offer. Most of this will work to your advantage. Keep a small recycling box for your unwanted mail, and save the environment :)
TheAnnie answered Saturday May 3 2014, 1:05 pm: What an awesome idea. I have personally never done this before (don't have a kid haha) however I have some sites that you can try. Now keep in mind that I've never used them before myself so I can't vouch for how easy it will be. In addition, if any site is asking you for your email and such, I would create a separate email account for that because they might send you lots of emails in their attempt to get you to purchase things.
This site gives you links for free samples including diapers, formula and bath products as well as tips on how to get more. One I liked in particular that you can do easily is ask your doctor. They should have tons of things companies give them for free to give out! [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
One last thing, if a site looks shady or has any bad reviews, don't use it. I know free things may seem tempting, but you don't want to risk the health of your baby!!
soph0900 answered Saturday May 3 2014, 6:13 am: As a general rule I answer everything that appears in my mailbox...
I don't know why your question is here- I don't think it was me who said this! Maybe the question was passed on to me?
Eh. Well I'll try and help, I did you a google search-
I think companies send you free samples.
But yeah- maybe when you have the baby if anyone says about gifts tell them what you need rather than them buying clothes. I haven't had a baby (Im only 17) But my aunty did and EVERYONE bought clothes- she had to get two wardrobes! (he is such a fashionable little guy) maybe tell people instead of that you want more useful things?
lepidoptera answered Thursday May 1 2014, 5:00 pm: I know for a fact that if you buy anything at Destination Maternity they'll sell your address! The only free stuff I got was a bunch of formula, which I ended up donated to a food bank. [ lepidoptera's advice column | Ask lepidoptera A Question ]
Carriebeca answered Thursday May 1 2014, 3:28 pm: Whem hn I was pregnant, nearly thirty years ago, you went to your ante-natal classes, saw your midwife regularly and did all those things you were meant to; when you gave birth (in hospital in those ays) they handed you your Bounty box, which had a number of free items in it, for example some disposable nappies, cream to prevent nappy rash and information on how to look after the baby and where to go for further information. I don't know if this still haoens though.
Hope this helps a bit and that both you and the baby are well during and after the birth. Good luck and best wishes to you both. x [ Carriebeca's advice column | Ask Carriebeca A Question ]
mrsh answered Thursday May 1 2014, 5:44 am: Firstly congratulations
I was given leaflets to fill out by my midwife and then just took them into the shops specified but it could be completely different depending on what country you live in. Signing up to bounty gets you some freebies to
Best of luck [ mrsh's advice column | Ask mrsh A Question ]
Teza answered Thursday May 1 2014, 12:33 am: First off, congrats on soon becoming a mommy! As far as gettingn free things, you do have to contact companies and ask. Most do not offer free things, but if you contact them and ask, you never know what their response would be. I found an online forum where there is a list of companies that you can contact to get some baby freebies so I would definetly check that out.
Rena-Chan answered Wednesday April 30 2014, 6:59 am: My husband was away when I had given birth to our son. I was caring for myself, and it is very difficult getting everything needed for your little one, especially with bills on top of baby care items needed. I cannot give you the names of these companies, but there are agencies *the reason I cannot give you the name is because the names very from state to state / city to city* but as I was saying, there are agencies that can help you with clothing, sometimes formula's diapers etc. It's something you'll have to look into. Around here we have The HillCrest family closet and other places. It's just something to look up on google, or ask your local WIC office. WIC may be able to give you referrals to places that can assist you. Also, as for free things in mail, it's usually the baby sites like Gerber, Similac, Pampers, they send freebies in the mail, which is just samples. You can google free baby samples etc. This will give you a bunch of sites and such that do that sort of thing. I hope this was of some assistance. Good luck with your soon to be bundle of joy :) [ Rena-Chan's advice column | Ask Rena-Chan A Question ]
OctoberBeat answered Wednesday April 30 2014, 1:18 am: Well, there are definitely places online you can get free samples from; mostly from people who want you to try out their products. I haven't tried any of these because I don't have a baby! Lol.
But I took the liberty of searching some quick places and references that you can try out; be weary and double check and get in contact with the people directly from the website if you can. Ask as many questions as you can think up!
NOTE: I checked these sites with scamadvisor.com so they seem to be legit! Be weary of fake sites if you go on the hunt for more freebie products. You don't need spam or to get duped!
June answered Thursday April 24 2014, 9:28 pm: I love babies!! (when they are other people's)
Any how Yes there are places. Huggies,Pampers and more. I am not the on to ask. Just Google and all this great stuff will come up! Good luck on your new baby. :) [ June's advice column | Ask June A Question ]
ellekaay answered Wednesday April 23 2014, 12:40 am: For the best scam-free websites where you could get free baby samples, my research gave me:
Sometimes some of these sites will give you certificates which you can print out and bring to your doctor for free baby samples too, which is pretty cool!
Dragonflymagic answered Tuesday March 4 2014, 2:01 pm: You might want to ask the friend who told you what companies specifically. I had 3 kids and never signed up anywhere to get free baby stuff in the mail because something like that was not advertised.
However, shortly after each time I had given birth, I did get an occasional sample of one free disposable diaper or skin ointment or the one dose of baby shampoo, nothing much, and definitely, not an amount to crow about. I suppose that companies get a list from hospitals of people who gave birth.
If you are hoping for such great volumes of things in the mail so you have no need to buy any personal care items for baby, then forget it. Thats not going to happen. You'd do better interviewing other moms to discover which baby products they liked over others and why and then just try out the ones you think are the healthiest for baby.
If you really believe such a thing exists, do some internet searches or look up brand names of baby product companies on line and ask them by email. [ Dragonflymagic's advice column | Ask Dragonflymagic A Question ]
