A few thoughts I've gathered from my teenage years (and being on this site for most of them!):
1. If you Google song lyrics, the song will come up 99% of the time.
2. Dress to fit your body type, and buy the size that fits. If you're a size 6, squeezing into a 4 won't make you look skinnier. It makes you look fat when you aren't.
3. You will never regret waiting to lose your virginity.
4. There is such a thing as a stupid question, but we're all allowed to ask them.

i just started getting dandruff this past year. its really annoying - i use head and shoudlers but i still have it! why did i just start randomly getting it? how do i stop? what can i do?

Head and Shoulders may not work for you. Try other brands, like Selsun Blue or Neutrogena T-Gel.


Also, you may just need a more moisturizing shampoo/conditioner. Try conditioning daily, roots to ends. Rinse it out throughly though, otherwise you'll have OILY roots (not much better than dandruff!)


May also just be the weather. You know how your face gets dryer over the winter? So does your scalp!


If you don't see ANY improvement by spring, ask a doctor what he recommends. You may have deleveloped some other skin condition of sorts. But don't worry too much.

I have this sonnet I have to memorize for drama. Thing is it's a Shakespeare thing and I dont even understand it. Please help me think of ways to memorize it. I have to do it this monday when I get back from Spring Break. !_!

Seriously. Works every time. I memorized half of "To Be, Or Not to Be" from Hamlet in a matter of a few days that way.


It's much easier to memorize something if you have a basic grasp of what you're saying. So look it up, on cliffnotes.com or sparknotes.com


Act it out a little! Dramatize it (literally). Say it with as much emotion as you can muster, be overdramatic. Remember the rhyme scheme (ababcdcdefefgg); it may help you remember, like, okay two lines ago it rhymed with duck.


You'll remember it soon enough. Don't worry about it.

Would you say kissing on the shoulder is a sluty thing to do in a 6 month relationship and you both truly love eachother but he kisses your shoulder..would that be considered kind of wrong? i dont know why i feel its a bit slutty or maybe its just me

No way. As long as you're comfortable with it, there's nothing wrong with it at all.


If you're NOT comfortable with him doing this, it's an easy thing to get him to stop doing- jsut gently push him away.

is there any good teeth whiteners? i'd like to know from past use or from a friend telling you. Also if you do know where to get it

In addition to Crest Whitestrips (which work great for me) I've used other things. BTW, if the Whitestrips are making your teeth super-sensitive, use them once a day instead of twice.


Listering Whitening Rinse tastes... weird. I think it's okay (plus you brush the taste away after thirty seconds so I can stand it) but some people gag at the taste of it. It's only about $3 so it's worth a shot, at least!


Arm& Hammer Advance White Toothpaste works wonders. IT polishes AND whitens, so your teeth get super bright and white. Again, this is one of those whitening products that you can TELL is whitening. But it's not THAT bad and you get used to it fast. Plus, it has baking soda so it deoderizes.

Try using that toothpaste first, them brushing with your regular toothpaste after. Or, try Crest ProWhite, Or something like that. One of the flavors is Moonlight Mint; & it comes in a dark blue box. You'll know it when you see it haha. That toothpaste works fairly well for whitening too, and tastes like normal toothepaste.


As for where to get them, I've purchased them all at WalMart/Target.

Ok i have a roll on Certain Dri anti perspirant and it's different then other anti perspirants because you wear it only before bed time so it can shrink your armpit pores while you're sleeping.

Does that mean it can be ok to wear on my face?

I wouldn't recommend putting deoderant on your face. It'll probably dry it out beyond all possible belief.

If you're sweating profusely from your face, see a doctor. It's not normal.

ok i hav 3 questions,

1. i'm doin this english project and i need to create a dual timeline. wat exactly is that? my teacher said its like a spilt timeline where on one side theres a timeline about the author's life thats being compared to the other timeline about the outside world. i don't really 100% understand that. does anyone hav an example of one? i understand things way more better when im given an example of it.


2. to me this might be a bit random but, i noticed that my computer doesnt hav one of those floppy disk slots and i was wondering if anywhere in the world if there was some sort of device that i can connect to my computer and put a floppy disk inside that device and use it on my computer. my computer is a hp pavilion and just now i noticed somthin else, since it doesnt use floppy disks does that mean it uses some sort of memory card that acts as a floppy disk? cuz i noticed these slots for memory sticks. heh i'm not really good with computers.


3. my final question is there a FREE to use computer program and that i can download for FREE so i can download songs and music videos. something like limewire but is there one where i can download music videos and drag them to itunes and that are able to be played on my ipod? i kno i hav to purchase music videos but there was this one time where i got this video from limewire and som how i got it in my ipod except the problem was no sound was played.

1. I don't have an example, but I can explain it. Let's say you were doing a timeline about someone born in 2006. Draw a timeline horizontally. Then, on top, make it the person's life. Let's say Marina Smith was born on January 1, 2006. You'd start the timeline then. January 5, 2006, first spit-up. March 29, 2006, first time sleeping through the night. et cetera. On the bottom of the timeline, you'd have a timeline of current events. Britney and K-Fed divorcing, Brokeback Mountain released, Death toll in Iraq reaches [insert number here], stuff like that.


2. Floppy disks are an obsolete piece of technology. You should really be using CD-R discs, flash drives, or even a backup hard drive. If you have vital information on floppy discs, bring them into a computer shop and ask them to convert the files to a CD-R for you. It won't be that expensive, and it'll be a much more reliable storage method for you.


3. Any program like Limewire, you can convert the files to iTunes format (through the File->Add File to Library option). Videos, you can usually convert Quicktime to MP4. iTunes does it for you (sometimes you have to right click->convert first though)

I don't know if this is what you mean, but my mom makes this excellent cheese, tomato, and chili dip.
- 1 lb Velveeta Cheese
- a can of diced tomatoes and green chilies (or just tomatoes)
- a little milk if you need it (if it's too thick to dip chips in)
Melt the cheese in a small saucepan, stirring constantly. It works much better if you cut the cheese into chunks first. Use LOW heat, or else the cheese will burn to the bottom and cleaning that pan is NOT fun. After it's all melted, add the tomatoes & chili peppers. Serve immediately with corn chips (or whatever else you feel could benefit from some cheese dip)


As for the sour cream and onion dip, do you mean the one for potato chips? I usually make that with a pint of sour cream and a package of dry onion soup mix (Lipton and Knorr are both great). Let it sit for about an hour in the fridge before serving for best results. I usually eat it with potato chips (ruffles are best since they don't break) but my family also eats corn chips with it... eww.

so basically i straigten and blowdry my hair everyday. i use garnier fruitis the one for damaged hair. it used to work for like the first 2 months and my hair was like split end free and was healthy but now it stopped working. what are some shampoos and conditioners i can use so my hair can be much healthier and can grow faster?

Nothing can really make your hair grow faster. But, you CAN keep your hair from breaking off at the ends and therefore growing longer.


I use a combination of Tresemme Anti-Breakage Shampoo, Pantene Smooth and Sleek, and Herbal Essences for Color-Treated Hair. Plus, whatever creamy conditioner I like the smell of better that week. Whatever one you use, leave it in for at least five minutes, otherwise it only works as a detangler.


Before you straighten, protect your hair with SOMETHING. Smoothing Creme, Straghtening Balm, or Serum (or a combo of the three) are all great. Find one that works with your hairtype that's within your budget and you like the smell of. I've tried everything, and nothing works better for me than Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum and Tresemme Heat Protecting Spray. I always finish with a good amount of hairspray, too. That way, the style holds longer and you're not burning your hair more by doing touchups five times a day.

alright well see im 13/f and my ex boyfriend has a g.f right now and it really hurts me , i miss him so much. When we were going out we had the most amazing times ever, and before we were going out i liked him for a year and than we finally went out, and now we broke up and the day after we did he had a g.f, well the girl he is with now is like my worst enemy i dislike her. && from what i hear she likes another boy and a million people brought it up to me, so i told him and when he called me to talk about it he was flirting with me and said he misses the good times we had and that he doesnt know if he likes her because shes prude and stuff. but now hes mad at me because he thinks i lied about her liking another boy. im so confused and i dont know what to do, i love this boy so much he was my first true love and idk what to do any way you can help ? thanks

I think he went out with this other girl on the rebound, especially since it was the next day. But, he DOES have a girlfriend right now. He could be regretting breaking up with you in the first place since he's talking to you about how he misses how things were.

The best thing you can do right now is keep telling the truth, and let him find out for himself that she likes another guy. Only time will tell what will happen. If you both want to go out again, the only way that'll happen is if you remain good friends through it all, and be open and honest with each other.

alright so i have itunes on my laptop but then my laptop started to not work so i installed itunes on my dads computer.. now theres no music in the itunes library on my dads computer and if i were to add songs into my ipod from my dads computer, and update it does that mean only the songs on my dads computer will update into my ipod or the songs from my laptop will still be there? help please thanks

If you disable automatic updating, (manually manage songs on your iPod) you can add new songs from your dad's computer without erasing the songs from your laptop. All your songs will remain, you just won't have the songs on your dad's computer too (the ones that were already on the iPod).


There's a (relatively easy) way to transfer all your songs from your iPod to your new computer. Check my answer to this question:

My son's 3 years. Everytime I ask him if he needs to wee he says no. When he says yes and I get him on the potty seat (which is on the toilet seat)...he doesn't do anything, then when I let him go about 10 minutes later he messes himself or uses the diaper.
I know when he wants to poo but when I get him on the seat he never does it there. I bought pull ups today and hopefully it will help.

My question really is how to approach the potty training for a boy of 3 years. I want to get him into school soon but the only wait is potty training!

There's also a toy called Potty Train Elmo. Kind of a long story as to why I got one for my fourteenth birthday (yes, I am potty-trained, Elmo's an inside joke... even LONGER story, anyways!) I found it to be adorable. Elmo comes complete with a potty, sippy cup of water, and a book. I'm sure it'd help a three-year-old, especially if he loves Elmo!

You might be anemic. Exercise, however, can sometimes remedy being cold. Try exercising a few times a week for about 20 minutes or so (which you should really be doing anyways) and see if it helps. If not, see a doctor.

okay so I was absent for a few days various times for different weeks because I got sick a lot, anyways I missed 2-3 of my math tests (he gives us like 2 a week though!) not on purpose! So anyways when I came back this one kids says stuff like

"Ohh you're actually in school today, how come you managed to come today?"

"When was the last time you saw her ass in school?"

the WORST was...
"Hey, there's a math test tommorow, are you coming to school? I'm making a bet with Sarah on it..."

a girl asks him how to use the word inclination in a sentence
"Like...(my name) has an inclination for skipping school)

then my english teacher hears and in front of the whole class asks us, "Wait, WHO is staying home tommorow because of a math test?"
--silence--
then that annoying guy speaks, "(My name), she has statistically missed every other math test this term."
I just stared at my paper I couldn't even say anything back to him because the WHOLE class was staring at me and my english teacher was evilly eyeing me and now probably thinks I'm a skipper

a few kids told that guy, "How could you call her out like that?!" and he's like, "Oh i love her, I just love messing w/ her" and they're like, "I don't think she takes it like that

and then the next day when I'm there for the math test, he hugs me and is like, "Yes I bet 5 dollars you'd be here today, I LOVE YOU" and the other girl comes up and is like, "HEY! There's a math test today you weren't supposed to be here..."


I don't know when they'll stop and it's really bugging me. I've had the flu, a virus and I'm so bad at comebacks and I'm really weak and cry easily in front of people (though I've kept it in so far).....

also he expects me to be nice to him after everytime he does this to me, and if it isn't this, he makes a smartass comment about something of me.

I think he's trying to get you to notice him. He's not being hurtful, or he's not TRYING to be anyways. Just talk to him. He probably doesn't realize what he's doing is making you feel like crying. Most people would just laugh it off, make up the test, and say something like, "Yeah, you're all just jealous that I get to stay after school and have as much time as I need on this test!"


If he continues to be an ass about it, ignore him. They're all just being immature.

hi, i was wondering how to get rid of dry lips.theres always a layer of dry skin on them.i always try chapstick but it dont last. like in a couple minutes they'll get dry again.the only time the dry layer is not on them is when i like scratch it off..is there any kind of medicine or something i can do to stop this?

I use this trick myself. Get a little sugar (about a teaspoon) and mix it enough water to make a paste. Use it to exfoliate your lips VERY gently. Then rinse it off with warm water (DONT lick it off; it'll make your lips crack more).


Afterwards, apply a wet lipgloss or balm. Try Blistex, Vaseline, or even liquid lipsmacker. I use Squeezy Lipsmacker Pink Lemonade- it moisturizes and doesn't taste like chemicals.

does anyone know any FANTASTIC carpet cleaners that actually get the stain out?
ahh i eat in my room and i accidently got a lot of stains on my carpet =( and my mom is killing me for it.


and also i might of accidently spilled some self tanner lotion and it made an orange stain once it dried! ahhhhhhhh and i have no clue how to get it out!! please help me!

VERY STRONG. I've used both of these to get dried, blood-red nail polish out of expensive grey carpeting, with great success. I don't know how they'll react with dark-colored carpet, though, so test a small area, like, in your closet or along a baseboard first :)
-OOPS! remover
-Goof Off The Ultimate Remover.

Both of these work grat on virtually everything. Please, though, OPEN ALL THE WINDOWS! Stuff's incredibly strong. We didn't do that... and we couldn't go in the house for a few hours and had to get takeout.


You can buy any of these at a hardware/home improvement store. Many you can even find at stores like Target or WalMart. Check in the automotive depertment and ask someone there for stain remover stuff- people use GooGone a lot to get bird crap off their car)

I'm a boy, and I'm 15

I have a best friend whose really cool. Me and him met in marching band and eventually became really good friends.
But there's this girl who is obsessed with him and is always hanging on to him. She pretty much treats me like dirt and acts like I'm getting in the way.
One time I told my friend that if he liked her and she liked him they should just go out with each other, and they both acted like I was crazy. Maybe it was because my best friend had a girlfriend before and had bad experiences? idk.
Anyway, I usually don't care when they hang out, even if I am left behind, but the other day, my best friend decided to skip school to go snowtubing with this girl. It wouldn't usually make me mad, but that felt like kinda the last straw. I was so mad at that girl, because she sort of "took" my best friend. I don't have a lot of friends and I sorta felt like I was being left out.

Talk to your best friend- WITHOUT this girl around. He may not realize what he's doing. He may be overjoyed that someone likes him and completely oblivious to someone else. Just tell him how you feel- that lately, he's been hanging out with this girl a lot lately and you feel left out.


As for them looking at you like you were crazy, they could be embarrassed that someone pointed it out to them that they were all over each other. I've done the same thing.

15, boy

I think out of all of my friends, I'm probably the only one that hasn't had a girlfriend. Is that weird? I'm a really independent person and I'm not really into any girls. It's almost like there isn't anyone worth going out with at school. I'm also pretty picky so it feels like I have no chance.

When people would ask me why I didn't have a girlfriend, my usual response was that I was so busy and didn't have time for that stuff, or that no one would really like me that much. I mean, I really don't know if any girl would want to go out with me. I'm really tall for my age, I'm in marching band, I'm one of 3 guys on my swim team, and I run track. I get really good grades as well, so basically I'm the typical nerd, or thats what people say. haha.

Most of my friends have had girlfriends before, and they usually end in as a train wreck. They always tell me that I'm not missing out on anything, but sometimes I'd like to know what it's like. Is it really as great as some people say, or is it just a waste of time?

I'll start off by saying that I love nerdy guys. And I know I'm not the only one, so you just haven't found the right girl yet.


Socialize with friends, be yourself. You're already doing that. You'll find someone, I promise you. By not making it your life's goal to always have a girlfriend, you're not making yourself look desperate, which isn't the impression you want to give someone. Girls who want a meaningful relationship, and not "just another hookup" will like you for who you are. Finding the person that's right for you isn't a complete waste of time, no. But you don't want your grades or other aspects of your life to suffer because of it either.

okay i just got my hair cut and i hate it..how long would it take for it to grow an inch or 2 bwlow my sholder..right now it just touching..is there anyway to have my hair grown faster

On average, hair grows a half-inch a month. I say average because it varies so much from person to person.

As a general rule, your hair grows faster when you're healthy & younger people's hair typically grows faster. Mine, for example, grows about an inch a month (I know because I dye my hair and my roots show far too soon).


There's not much you can do to make it grow faster beyond taking vitamins, eating a balanced diet, and giving your hair an extra dose of TLC so the ends don't break off.


My mom's always said the difference between a good haircut and a bad haircut is two weeks. I'm sure you'll get used to it eventually; its probably just a shock for you having hair that's drastically shorter.
