advice

Ok well me and my boyfriend just started going out and he smokes but I dont. We havnt kissed (meaning made out) yet and I was just wondering if when I kiss him will it taste like cigarette? And also could I get any type of cancer just from him kissing me? Ill give a 5 to anyone who doesnt make fun! THANKS! x♥x

It is very likely that you will taste the smoke. It depends a bit on how much he smokes and if he uses gum/ breathmints etc. The cigarrette smell is very strong and can survive most things however.
As for the cancer, definately not.

Most people think I am slow and I dont know much less, understand why. How do you know if their telling the truth or big fat liars (just to make you feel bad)?

Well, as everyone has pointed out, it could go either way. I was wondering if you have tried testing yourself. Start with an IQ test... this only measures one aspect of what we (incorrectly) term intelligence in everyday talk but its a start. Go to http://www.mensa.org/ and try the "mensa workout", its just a little test so not too accurate but it may give you some idea. Then go on the net and try a few more and see where you rank compared to average. Also ask yourself some simple questions... are you the last person who tends to get a joke for example?... is your memory weak such that people have to repeat facts to you constantly? (this has nothing to do with intelligence, but it can make you seem slow). With a bit of self reflection and observation you should be able to sort out your strenghts and weaknesses without too much difficulty. Good luck anyways.

Any idea how to get rid of a little unwanted body fat in the stomach? I've tried crunches and everything but no results. Anything would be helpful. NOT pills though.

Contrary to popular beleif, running etc is not the most efficient way to burn fat. Resistance training is the best becuase of its effect on your metabolism (cardio exercises have no longer term effects, but with weight training u burn more calories all day long). Also every pound of muscle you put on will burn require some daily calories to maintain.
Now, also contrary to popular belief there is no way on the green earth that a human being can target an area of the body to lose fat from. It is NOT possible. You can build muscle on an area but the order of fat loss is not in our hands. So, dont just focus on the stomach (like with crunches etc, that wont do much. Instead get an overall full body workout, eat sensibly (as per the advice of others that have answered before me) and hope that your body will remove the fat that is bothering you sooner rather than later. Sorry, its all you can do (short of liposuction of course... actually that is the one and only way humans can target fat loss come to think of it).

My bf is always saying something nasty about his friends behind there backs. It makes me wonder if he does the same to me.
He has one friend who is 37 and doesnt have a girlfriend. He was laughing about him one day and said "that guys still a virgin". Another friend of his has a cushy job selling a health food product from his home and he said "he spends all day sitting behind his computer".
He has also said things about friends of mine. He told me he thought my one friend was gay because he didnt have a girlfriend. I defended him and said he just hadnt found the right guy yet. He also told me that any guy or girl who didnt have a bf or gf by a certain age was gay. He's said some pretty mean things about gays as well. He also makes snide remarks about woman, and thinks that men are superior.
I don't know why he has to act like this, I don't like him when he acts this way. When he's alone with me he is really sweet but when he's around his other friends this really mean side of him comes out.
Is this a guy thing? Are all guys like this? And what can I say to him to get him to stop making all the put downs?

All guys are not like this. However, many guys have some elements of this stuff. A good chunk are homophobic, some guys are sexist, some guys back talk others. Its no different than for women, some are nasty in some ways and some are not. Its really a not a question of his sex, its a question of character.
You can try to talk to him of course. Be careful here because people who exhibit the sort of judgemental personality like his get defensive really really easily. You have to really be diplomatic with him, and be prepared for stubborness.
The dual personality thing is common in guys though. I have seen some of the nastiest, most aggressive and provocative guys (not that i am grouping your bf with them or anything) be really sweet around their gf.
As for whether he back talks you, I would be very surprised if he doesnt. In my experience people who back talk a lot tend to bitch about everyone who isnt there at the moment. Sometimes however, its not neccessarily meant that seriously (sometimes it seems to be a form of bonding, other times its due to some sort of inferiority complex... it varies).
Anyhow, make him aware of what he does and see his reaction. If he seems apologetic, be patient and give him time to change. If not, maybe you need to confront him a bit more sternly. Its hard to say because his initial reaction is very important.
Oh, but do make sure that he really means all the stuff he said (one other thing that guys do generally have in common is a somewhat more crude sense of humour... sexist jokes for example are most often just jokes and nothing more).
I know this wasnt a lot of help, but good luck to you anyways.

this one is for guys..i guess it can be for girls to..I would like to know what guys prefer..curly hair or straight hair?

This is one that totally depends on the guy. I remeber back in high school having this discussion and no one could agree. Its pretty 50- 50 believe me. I, personally prefer wavy (somewhere in between curly and straight)... however, given just your two choices I take curly.

please.. i need your advice!why my cuticle looked so dry and it half peels off automatically?" it is painful of course. Am i lacking some sort of vitamins?

I am not qualified to answer this question (not by a long shot). Vitamins could have something to do with it, but dryness could be caused by any number of things. I know that on the skin in general, soap, shampoos etc can cause dryness and irritation. Do you use any products (anything from nail polish to... whatever) that could be the cause?
Either way, I doubt its anything very serious but do get it checked. Oh, and take any advice you get from this site (including mine) with a grain of salt when it comes to medical issues.

For my boyfriend's birthday, I got him a gag gift.. and then i got him a polo from American Eagle. But I'm having second thoughts as to whether or not he will like it.. do guys like getting clothes as a gift?

lol... I always hated clothes as a gift. Ok, hate is too strong, since it really is the thought that counts, so let me rephrase it to- clothes ranked at the bottom of the present pool. Of course, like everyone said, some guys love it. What kind of person is he? Is he the type that takes special care what he wears, worries about his hair (lol), buys cologne, compares fashion tips etc etc? Or is he the sort of guy that that goes for comfort/ practicality first? If its the second group he probably wont be extatic. Either way dont worry about it its not that big a deal.

My dad is leaving for another woman and I have a choice of going with my dad or staying with my mom. I feel more comfortable talking about boys and girly stuff with my mom then my dad. But my dad is the more fun one who lets me drive the car cause hes a taxi driver!

-Please help
xoxoxo. HOPELESS DREAMS

This is a very very hard question. The only thing i can think of to add to what was already said, is to consider perhaps the other people in this equation. The woman your dad is going with for example... would you be able to live with her? Also, is your mom going to be left all alone? I am not normally pertial to one parent or another, but if your mom is to be left alone, then perhaps its an idea to stay with her (unless of course you are sure she can cope). Hmmm, I doubt Ive made this any easier for you, but good luck with whatever you choose.

What does "When In Rome..." supposed to mean??

when in rome, do as the romans... i believe is the correct phrase. It means do as is customary wherever you are (like if you visit a foreign culture for example).

so lately i have been thinking that im fat and when i eat i feel real bad. i havent really ate anything in the past 2 days and i want to go anorexic. i know theirs a better way to lose weight then that. what should i eat and what exercises should i do and for how long?
right now i do 25 sit ups in the morning, then after i eat dinner, usually from 6-7 i ride the gazelle for 30 minutes and then i get on the bike and go 8 miles. after that i do 25 situps. then right before i go to bed i do 30 sit ups. is this enough?

Unfortunately, despite popular belief, there is no way at all to target fat loss, so if you lose weight it can just as easily come off your rear as off your stomach.
I wont comment on the anorexia you seem to have gotten enough on that from the others hehe :)... Now as for your exercise routine.... it looks ok. You do loads of situps which you might want to concentrate into one workout session. Remember since fat loss cannot be targeted there is no need to do so many situps all day. In fact you are far far better off doing some exercises for the rest of your body.
The most efficient way to lose fat is to do resistance training (e.g. weight training). It is superior to aerobic training because it makes your metabolism work faster burning calories all day long (even while you sleep).
Otherwise, at your activity level (which is very high), just eat balanced meals high on greens, low on saturated fats and moderate on carbs and you should be fine.

I am not sure this is the right category for this but I figured its all pretty much the same thing. Ok here is the deal. I feel so large. I have a big butt and my stomache seems to be getting bigger. I don't have like fat fat but i just feel so big compared to all my friends who have extremely small waists. I'm about 5"3 and range 110-113 pounds i believe but who knows? I might even weigh 120. Anyways I feel really big and I need some major diet help. I need exercise tips that will help me. My goal is to lose like 10 pounds. I am not anorexic but tis time to find something to do. I will rate high for good answers.

Ok, the simple way to look at weight loss is intaking fewer calories than one uses. This means you can either 1. increase your excercise level, 2. eat fewer calories 3. elevate your metabolism so you naturally burn more calories even while you sleep.
So, since you are not fat, I would not worry too much about specific diet programs etc. Just eat balanced meals, low on saturated fat (eg from fatty meats, butter, cheap cooking oils etc). Eat many small meals every day (5 or so), but dont overeat. This will help elevate your metabolism. Time the last meal so its at least a couple of hours before bedtime (so you go to bed feeling just a little bit hungry).
Then increase your excercise level slightly and the pounds will come off safely and smoothly. Just so everyone on this site can hate me, here are some *wrong* facts about exercise: 1. Crunches/sit ups make you lose weight on your stomach (they do NOT... humans are unable to target fat loss from a specific area its that simple... crunches build muscle on your stomach) 2. running/aerobics is the best weight loss exercise... wrong... weight/resistance training is the best because it elevates your metabolism for long periods of time (running only for about 60 mins after u stop)... also every pound of muscle you gain requires some daily calories to upkeep- this means less work from more weight loss.
Anyhow, since you dont have a problem as such, i would suggest you pick a sport you think its fun and just follow my diet tips. Otherwise if you think you need serious help then the answer is resistance training... either way good luck.

Hi!

I would like to know having sex how many times a day, is healthy...

Thanks.

With warm regards,

Udhay.

Omg what answers. There is no limit on whats healthy. Sex in general is healthy for the body, and a very efficient form of exercise. There is the matter of sexually transmitted diseases etc but the sec act itself has only good benefits for the body (not to underestimate STDs... do take the necessary precautions).

okay I have been trying to loss weight for about a year but I can't seem to break the sweet craving what should i do I have 2 months to try to loss 15-20lbs. I am a college student and i really need some help. what can i eat?

This is not an easy question. Breaking cravings is damn hard and I am not sure how much i can help, but i will give it a try. One thing you can do is to take a day, say every week or 10 days or so, where you eat almost everything you want. So while on a regular day you might eat 500 calories below your daily usage (depending on your activity level, body weight etc), on this particular day you eat say 1000 calories more than u use. This way you can hopefully satisfy your sweet cravings (I heard Stallone say he does this in an interview btw). This can actually also help your metabolism to not slow down, which is a common problem in dieting.

Now, as for what to eat, the most important thing is to keep saturated fats low. Avoid fried foods, fatty meats, butter etc. Try check the packages on the food you buy and make sure that the saturated fat content is no more (and preferrably less) than half your total fat consumption. Now, as for how much fat to eat, that depends a bit on your activity level and so on, but try say keeping it a bit below 60 grams.

Another thing is to keep control of your carb intake. Avoid empty calories as much as possible. Buy whole wheat bread and pasta instead of regular, avoid sodas and candy and that sort of thing.

Basically, you can do this the scientific way, or you can use common sense, but the key thing is to eat less total energy than you use (which can also be achieved through increase in exercise level of course). Eat balanced meals, high on greens, moderate/high on protein (depending on activity types), moderate on carbs and low on fats.

Finally here are a few general points: 1- Try to eat the bigger meals (and particularly the larger part of your carb intake) earlier in the day, prior to exercise or high levels of activity. 2- Eat many small meals in the day (say 5 or so). I cant emphasize how important this is to stop your metabolism from slowing down and ruining your efforts. 3- Learn to time your last meal so you always go to sleep feeling just a little bit hungry.

Well, this ended up being a bit of a mess, but i hope you can use some of it. Good luck with your weight loss and get back to me if there is anything you would like me to clarify.

Has anyone ever used Avast! anti-virus? If so, can you help me out here a little?
This scanner has found a virus on my PC and it told me the recommended action was to 'move it into the virus chest'. I clicked the button that did that...what happens to the virus now? What do I do next?
And can anyone explain what a 'trojan worm' virus will have done to my PC? How is my PC still functioning?
And also why a fully updated version of Norton Anti Virus has failed to pick this up over three years and yet this new virus scanner got it in five minutes?

Norton Antivirus does not pick up all viruses whether it is updated or not. I have had fully updated versions of Norton that did not pick up viruses that the *free* version of AVG eliminated without a problem. I also use Avast now, and it seems like a top notch antivirus program. Anyway, once the virus is in the virus chest it is quarantined and you dont need to do anything else as far as I know.
As for the trojan, it depends on what type of virus it is (there are different kinds of trojans). Try to google the exact name as given by avast and you should find a description without too much difficulty.

ok well this is going to sound weird but i have sorta a large area down below my belly button, it sticks out alot i wan't to know if there are anyways i can "slim down" please answer quickly!!!

help please desperate

There is no way (none at all believe me) to slim down a particular area of the body. If you do things like crunches or whatever, you will build muscle there. Now that may tighten it up a bit, but it wont slim it down. Doing exercises could have a slimming effect overall, but the order of fat loss is not in our control. Sorry if this wasnt what you wanted to hear, but anything else is just a myth (or wishful thinking).

i know this is bad for me
so dont bother telling me to stop
i dont even smoke that regulary.. only when im stressed out lol
i always get dizzy?
is this normal? i mean ive only been smoking for about 3 months.. im not on 20 day.. im not even on 5 a week... more like 2 a week, it takes me about 2/3 weeks to get through a pack of 10.
could some one tell me why im feeling dizzy when i smoke?
thanks x x

yes it is as far as i know. I was a smoker for a few years and at the beginning i always got dizzy. That was one of the reasons i did it back then lol (I was quite young), anyway that went away after a few months.
I will not tell you to stop, choosing to smoke has its risks but i think its up to each individual to weight the pleasure value vs health risks. I do want to say one thing, just so you are aware of it. When i started I also just smoked here and there and I can honestly not say when i got totally addicited, but it crept up on me very suddenly. Quitting was the hardest thing I ever ever tried to do. All I am saying is just be aware that one day you might wake up and NEED to smoke. Oh, and to be fair, i have a friend who has been a social smoker for 20 years and never got addicted... Sry to get off track... I believe you get dizzy because your blood pressure goes up a bit.

Iam 5'9 and I have a large body frame and a fair amount of muscle , I weigh 177 and am 14yrs old. Alot of people say I am not fat. Am I?

That doesnt seem fat at all. I wouldnt worry about it, you sound perfectly normal to me. One thing you can do if you want to be perfectly certain is to calculate you body fat percentage. Heres a link to a calculator (I havent tested it mind you, but nr 2 calculator looks quite good at first glance).

Does anybody know any good work outs to help tone you thighs to make them look nice and not flabby?

No matter what advice you might get, listen very very carefully. There is no way to target fat loss to a specifc area of the body- it is not physically possible. If you do exercises that target the thighs you will, in time, build muscle on the area. This will make the area bigger and will NOT get rid of the flab. Now, what you need to do is to make a decision between the following two choices: 1. Either you start to lose weight- by eating balanced meals, cutting saturated fat, increasing your general exercise level and so on, or 2. you decide that overall you are happy with the way you are. If you choose 1 then your body will decide the order of fat loss- its genetic Im afraid. For weight loss, resistance trainning is the superior choice to aeroboc training due to its effect on the metabolism. So... a comprehensive weight trainning routine beats running any day. Anyhow, here is a link to a site that has detailed descriptions of most popular exercises for all areas of the body: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/exercises.htm
Best of luck to you whatever you choose, but remember that no area specific exercise will let you achieve what you want.
