i been with my gf for 2 months and she says she loves me. i told her its not love, we are getting 2 know each other love will deverlope if we meant 4 each other, time will say so. was that right?
Hope you dont get offended, but I dont agree with you there. First of all, it is certainly possible that it was/is real love. I certainly have fallen in love within that time frame and I really do think it was true love. Secondly, I dont think you can tell someone what they are feeling. It might take longer for you, not neccessarily for her.
Also there is a bit of a difference between love and being meant for each other. One is a (powerful) feeling, the other implies some sort of eternal bond. One can fall out of love...
Either way, hope all works out for you guys.
ok so i am 103lbs 5'4" but i have no muscle. i want to gain muscle and get rid of this roll i have at my stomach. its gross. you honestly wouldnt think at my weight i could have a pudgy tummy but it sits ontop of my jeans and it makes me feel bad. i normally skip breakfast, snack at lunch and just eat dinner. what could i do differently. ive been doing 50 sit ups a day for like 6 months and its not helping anything. what should i do? i want it gone fast in time for spring. help!
Start by eating more frequently. Eating rarely is really bad for your metabolism. You send your body into starvation mode, and that results in your muscles being digested.
Dont skip breakfast, in fact aim to eat 4 to 5 small balanced meals every day (balanced means containing some carbs, protein and fat- mainly non- saturated). Also aim your bigger meals to be before periods of activity rather than after them. Dinner should typically be a smaller meal than the others (unless you work out at night for some reason).
Best thing you can do is not running or aerobics. In your condition the best thing you can do is weights. That, together with eating right, will put some muscle on your body, boost your metabolism and tone you up.
Remember contrary to popular belief on advicenators, you cannot spot reduce fat. Meaning there is NO exercise that will every target fat off an area of the body. You can either lose weight overall or not at all. Sit ups, crunches etc build muscle on the stomach (with proper nutrition of course) and nothing more. You should work out your whole body if you want good results.
Seriously though, the first step you should take is to start eating more often. You will get no results at all if you dont. Also eat smart, and avoid empty calories from junk food and sugar, and keep saturated fats low.
Edit: (missed this part of the question) There is no way to get rid of all of it by spring, though you will be able to look better by then I guarentee it. Slow and steady wins the race, believe me, its the best thing you can do for your body and your health.
how do i loose weight fast?! what are some exersizes i can do, how can i eat, etc.? does anyone have any tips? please! ill rate 5s.
To start off, the 1000 crunches thing is just a waste of time. It might have some effect in the sense that it will burn some calories but it has to be one of the most ineffective ways to try to lose weight.
First of all, you need to exercise. Dont listen to any advice that says you need to do one or two specific exercises. You need to train your entire body. Now, the best thing you can do is join a gym. Doing weights and building some muscle will increase your metabolism, allowing you to burn more calories around the clock.
Aerobics and other cardios are great as well, ideally I would recommend aiming for 3 days with weights and 3 days cardio to start with, if you have the time. If you dont have time to do this, just make sure you include some form of regular exercise in your week (a sport, jogging, whatever). However, if you want the best effects, its off to the gym.
Secondly, and most importantly, you need to take control of your diet. There are a few key tips you need to follow. First eat often. Intake a small balanced meal 4-5 times a day. This will have a great effect on the metabolism. Next, drink loads of water.
When you eat, avoid junk foods, sugar and that sort of thing. Calculate your calorie needs (I have a link for you below) and aim to create a deficit of say 400 cals a day. Eat moderate on carbs and low on saturated fat (the "bad" kind of fat, found in things like butter, fatty meats, cheap oils etc). Make sure you eat plenty of greens as well as a good amount of protein (particularly if you joined a gym).
When you eat, spread your calories relatively evenly over your meals, eating somewhat bigger meals when you are about to be active. In other words, try to eat for what you are about to do, never for what you have just done (often people come home after a workout and eat a large meal).
Eating healthy is a lifestyle change. Dont try to do some sort of intensive diet, its unhealthy and you will put the weight back on. Remember in order to successfully lose weight, and keep it off, you need to eat properly, so dont starve yourself.
There is NO way to lose a pound a day, if anyting at all even comes close to that you are losing muscle or getting dehydrated. No way can fat be burned anywhere near that fast, sorry but this is the truth.
Here are two links, one to a calorie calculator and the other to a site that shows exercises to do at the gym:

http://www.internetfitness.com/calculators/bmr.htm
Ed: Actually here is another. Its a forum in a bodybuilding site where people share recipes for healthier cooking- often high on protein of course :) You can find some great stuff in there sometimes:

ok i am an athiest i have read many things supportin the exsitence nad nonexstence of god. I was just curious as to why people believe so strongly in a religion or a single god.
I am an agnostic (those who have come to accept that we simply do not know). In my opinion the reason people cling to religion is because they cannot acknowledge that they do not have all the answers.
Its inherently human to want to explain everything. If you look at primitive cultures they explain almost everything with the presence of a deity (why it rains for example). As science progresses the last elements of the unknown are then left as the work of God (or actually more like the PROOF of God). Believers like to point to something that we cannot expain and somehow argue that this proves the existence of an omnipotent being...
Mind you, I am not saying there is no God, though I have yet to see adequate evidence from believers or athiests alike.
Strong belief in a single God or religion comes, in my opinion, primarily from your upbringing. I used to be a believer, and it was strongly implied in my upbringing that it was wrong or even dangerous to even question my religion.
No wonder that depending on which continent you are born you simply "know" that yours is the true faith. If you drill something into a child from birth, and if you imply a negative outcome to the rejection of those teachings (e.g. hell), is it any wonder that some people never truly question those teachings?
For the record I have never ever read anything that remotely begins to support either the existance or the non- existance of a God. Athiests and believers are two camps that fling arguments back and forth without a shred of evidence one way or the other. Well, at least thats my opinion.
Hope my mess of thoughts was of some use/interest to you.
Hi, I asked a question awhile ago on what the difference between ethics and morality is and I got good feedback on it - much appreciated. However the information given to me is not enough to provide me with the answer to this question: what is the difference between something that is unethical vs. something that is immoral? Basically, if an act can be justified, can it still be considered unethical, and why? I would prefer answers to be short but definite, as in not too vague, because on this topic it is very easy to have something misinterpreted. Thanks in advance - will rate.
P.S. - This is not for a school related work incase you were having second thoughts about answering. :-)
The thing is that the two words are very similar. I will give you a quote from Peter Singer (one of the leading authorties on ethics today):
"(both)... have their roots in a word for customs... morality brings with it a particular, and sometimes inapropriate, resonance today. It suggest a stern set of duties that require us to subordinate our natural desires- our sexual desires get particular emphasis.... often morality is assumed to have a religious basis. These connotations of morality are features of a particular conception of ethics, one linked to the Jewish and Christian traditions" ("Ethics" 1994, Oxford University Press, P.Singer ed)
So, the short answer to your question would be:
Both can be interpreted as meaning the same thing, however using morality rather than ethics might imply a more stern set of beleifs that take root in Religious scriptures rathar than philosophical texts.
Your second question depends very much on your definition of justified. Overall I cant see how an act could be ethical if it isnt justified, because in my mind ethics determines justification.
Hey all. I was wondering if you guys thought I made a smart choice. Here it is: for freshman year, I am not continuing Spanish and going to Spanish 2 Honors, but instead I'm taking Italian 1 because I think it's different and a beutiful language. Please tell me if you think I made a smart choice. Thanks!
I pretty much agree with the answers below. I just wanted to add that when you evaluate whether or not you made the right choice, you might also consider what it is you want to it them for.
What I mean is, are you learning a langauge just because you like it? Are you learning the language because you plan to spend time in the country in question? Or are you learning it to give you some sort of an advantage later in life from a business point of view? (there are undoubtedly more questions you could ask, this is all I can think of now)
For one and two you definately made the right choice. For the last question, not neccessarily, since Italian is not used as much in the business world.
I am just trying to give you all the angles that you might want to tackle the issue from. Overall, I defintely believe that if you like something, you are far better off doing that then something else. However, all things being equal, there are some more practical elements one might consider.
Anways, good luck and enjoy.

In the morning I wake up at 6 o clock so I can catch my bus, but the thing is, no one in my family wakes up till' like 7:30 so when I get up they are all sleeping. Whenever I walk around adn stuff because no one else is awake it makes me really annoyed and just want to sleep. Does anyone have any ideas that will keep me awake when my family is sleeping?
Besides coffee.
Light. Bright light. I saw a study on Discovery (I believe it was) some time ago. They tested all sorts of things to see what makes people not feel sleepy. They tried music, keeping them busy, and a whole bunch of other stuff I dont remember. Turns out the most effective was the most obvious. Bright light. It seems we are more primal than we think, and much like animals we react very much to what our brain perceives as night and day. So try turning all the lights on in the rooms you are in. Might have the desired effect.
Another thing that works for me sometimes is jumping straight into the shower.
I know this is really stupid...but some people have been saying things like "PWNED NOOB." or "I PWN U." What does that mean exactly? Especially the word Pwn?
I'll rate and thanks.
Yes thats correct. I belive that pwn and pwned came about because they were frequently mistyped that way. If you take a game like counterstrike, which is largely responsible for a lot of online developments, you had very little time to type. You would see the typo pwn quite often in the old days if memory serves (before it became "offical"). It makes sense, the P is right next to the O, and because you are moving your fingers outwards fast you have a tendency to overshoot.
As for "noob" its far worse than newbie. Its a combinatíon of retard and newbie. It strongly implies you are some sort of loser. I really hate it when people fling that sort of crap around, ruins the game. One of the bad things about the internet really, people can get away with saying anything to you. In my day, you had to do it face to face, which made retalliation a bit easier :)
Ok. So when I write
Favourite
And
colour.
And I spell check the things I wrote. The spell check says it’s
favorite
And
Color
Now I was wondering, what’s up with that?! Cause- according to my dictionary, my way is the good way,
PLEASE HELP I RATE
yeah what everyone else said... just wanted to give you this:
http://www2.gsu.edu/~wwwesl/egw/jones/differences.htm
Its a link to a site that discribes the ways the two languages can differ. Just in case you get weird results from your spell checker another time.
whenever i run i get out of breath real easily so what can i do so i can run longer without getting so tired ?
I agree with the answers below. I have in my time gone through some really bad fitness periods. What I did when I started to run was to go really really slowly. This worked much better for me than jogging normally until I couldnt go any further. So, when you get tired (or actually before you get very tired), slow down, jog almost at walking pace (but jog dont walk)... sort of like a really slow trot. Lol, people will stare but screw them.
Set a time goal for yourself. Say something like , I will jog for 15 minutes today (and just do it really slowly if you have to). I guarantee that within not too long you will be jogging at a normal pace.
Also make sure you have a good balance in your workout, meaning not too often and not too rarely. I would go about three times a week if I were you. That should optimise your recovery rate and performance imo.
well basically im totally confused on everything about drugs, like weed and stuff. is there more then one drug, when you smoke weed do you atomatically get high? how do you smoke weed? is it exspensive? why do you get the "munchies"? and any other detail would be great thanks!
Ok. Weed comes from one plant, though you can smoke different parts of it. Also it comes in different forms. Hash for example is a part of the weed plant that has been compressed into a solid brown bar (looks totally different but has more or less the same effect).
You can smoke weed in many different ways (though it can also be eaten). Too many to list, a few include joints (cone shaped cigarretes), bongs (a device that passses the smoke through water), chillums (a type of pipe) etc. The principle is the same though, you just smoke the weed straight, or mix it with tobacco (for hash for example).
When you smoke weed you usually get high, though thats a hell of a word to use for an effect thats so mild. Often though this does not happen the first time (or first few times you smoke).
No idea about how much it costs. Here where I live (in Denmark) its not too expensive.
Munchies is something some people get, not all. No idea why it has that effect.
Two things on weed. I dont think its fair to group it with the other drugs, as it has very few addictive properties. Alcohol is worse for you in pretty much every way for example.
However, be careful with it. There tend to be two views on it, both extreme. One claims it is utterly terrible and barely differentiates between it and heroin, while the other says it has no problems at all.
Truth is very likely somewhere in between, and I have seen people ruin their lives with it. Granted most people can try it and stop, but then there are the unlucky few who like it too much. Then it becomes a drain on your energy ( you dont feel like doing anything when stoned), and a financial burden.
ok welllll....do guys findd it weird when girls play video games? or is it cool? and do guys like it when girls are girly but still "boyey"?
P.S. boyey is not a real word..i just made it up...fyi
I love it. For sure all my friends have obsessive dreams of finding a girl that can share in their geeky habits lol. Why arent there more of them like you out there? Its not fair.
ok so i have a friend (joann) who loves to sing, and wants to be a famous singer for her career and she works really LOVES to sing. i also love to sing, and know a great deal and music along with many of my friends. The problem is joann cant sing fo rthe life of her. everytime she starts to sing people laugh. shes ac=bsolutley awful. shes known in my school to be an awful singer. being a friend i cant tell her, and her parents tell her shes good. what can my friends and i do to help her see that maybe singing isnt the right thing for her? thanks!!
First off I think as her friend it is your duty to tell her. Thats at least my perception of friendship. After all you dont want her ending up on something like American Idol and making a total idiot out of herself in front of the whole world. If you think about it, those retards on the show who cant hit a note are there because no one gave them a dose of reality sooner.
Recording her voice, as carlyx said, is a good idea. Another thing you might try is to get her to be evaluated by someone she might respect. Someone who teaches singing perhaps, or who is some sort of authority on music.
Finally, if it were me, but I am known for being confrontational in my circle of friends, I would let her know what everyone thinks of her. I would do this gently and diplomatically, but at the end of the day she would know people are laughing at her behind her back.
Either way I dont envy your position. Good luck whatever you do.
Is it really true that if you take a cold shower, your body will burn calories trying to get warm? If so, how many?
Curosity strikes :)
Your body will always burn more calories if you are cold. If your room temperature is lower than normal you will burn more calories for example.
I cannot say how much a cold shower will do, and I cant think of anyway to calculate it (it would also depend on the length of the shower and the temperature of the water). Also, you might risk getting sick so Im not sure its a particularly effective way.
From personal experience I can say that swimming in cold water (for longer periods of time) was the most extreme and effective calorie burn I have ever endured. But thats off topic... the answer to your question is yes it does.
I just bought my prom dress today. The problem is, i have a lot of fat on my upper arms, so you can see it on the sides where top of my dress is. It's like underneathe the front of my arms.
Is there any way i can get rid of this before prom? Thanks ♥
You cannot remove fat from your arms through exercise. It is not possible for any area of the body.
I checked out the website given below wondering what scam they have cooked up next, and let me assure you she is talking first and foremost of losing the muscle in your arms. Then she wants you to watch your diet implying you will lose weight from your arms.
In truth, you might, but not because you do arm exercises, only because you made your body start to lose weight generally. When losing weight the body pulls fat from all over, eventually it will be from your arms.
Its a know fact in fitness (though for some reason not at all on advicenators) that you cannot target fat loss through exercise... you can only build muscle.
It would be cool if only boys answered this question as I guess they would know best...
What do guys look for in girls? Hair, makeup, clothes? A certain way of acting? Anything that you guys like? I rate, and thanks in advance
This really really depends from guy to guy, so what I am about to say now are weak generalisations not facts. I think guys look far less at clothes than girls do. We notice when a girl looks good, but rarely what shoes she is wearing and so on. Even less what purse she is carrying lol. Which reminds me, if a guy ever says "Hey nice shoes!", he learnt to do that from somewhere and its probably a pickup line :)
I would also say that most guys like girls with makeup just not a lot of it- so as to accentuate the girls features without being too visible.
The way a girl acts cannot be generalised. Some guys like the shy type, some like the bold type. I personally prefer them somewhere in the middle, and am not too fond of either extreme.
As for body types even there guys cant agree. Some like the supermodel types. I for one dont (not in the least I might add). Usually we can agree on a pretty face but thats about it. Big breasts/butts/lips/whatever are a plus with a lot of guys, but not all. I do like a girl with strong womanly features I might add...
When it comes to personality most guys like a girl they consider "cool". This typically is judged by her interests. The more she has in common with them the better. Mind you not that I think that a girl should take up something to impress a guy, but playing or liking certain sports or video games or whatever goes a long way. I hear it over and over "I have/had the coolest girlfriend, she liked to watch football with me/ go drinking/ etc."
Thats all I can think of. Oh, theres the hair... again no difference. I think some girls look better with short hair, while some should keep it long (just look at Alyssa Milano when she cut it... terrible). Overall we prefer long thats for certain. Jury is still out on straight, wavy or curly.
Of course none of this matters much if you fall in love, but I guess you know that already. Hope this mess of thoughts was of some use to you.
I want everything in life. I want to grow maximize my career to the fulliest.
But i feel like im doing enough to, to show how smart i really iam. Im 13/f. My last report card was bad..I got straight C'S (which isnt really bad for a few grades but in every class, bad.) any suggestions on how to improve my grades, and all?
Hmmm. Everyone made pretty good points. More studying, tutors etc. will all be very beneficial to get your grades up. However, I also agree with what Kevin wrote, life really does get worse lol.
Perhaps what you also need is to find some enjoyable activities in your spare time that may be useful later. Things like playing chess really helps you structure your thoughts and forces you to learn to plan ahead. Reading is always great. Try take up an interest in philosophy perhaps. I personally have found that the philosophy I have read in my spare time has been far more helpful than a lot of what I learned in school. Its really is underated stuff.
Later as you go through you academic life, you will be faced with new challenges that may have little to do with your current school work. Some of the most important skills that you can develop at this age is learning structure and logical analysis. These will always be useful in virtually any career/ study that you choose. They will certainly also help your current grades.
Anyway, good luck and remember that if you can make it feel "fun", it will be far easier to develop your knowledge and mind.
I am 21 yrs old and have been dating this guy for 3&1/2 yrs now (started my senior year of highschool) and I love him very much, but for the last year or so Ive gotten to the point where I just don't know if I can see us together forever anymore (like all girls dream) and am wondering if I should stay or go. We have been getting into alot more fights, way more easily than before and most of them are due to the fact that he is obsessed with video games and puts them ahead of hanging out with me all the time. Lately, hes gotten into this new game that has quests with alot of people on certain days of the weeks; scheduled quests. And he decides to not hang out with me and play instead even though its a friday night which is one of my nights off (no college the next day or work). We rarely see each other the way it is this semester due to classes and work and homework that this is ruining my time with him and it bugs me how he doesn't care. Even when we do hang out, when I come over to his house I have to get him off his game and its hard work. I just don't feel like a priority anymore, and because of this I get angry easier and then make him mad and we get into fights. He thinks I nag on him too much and I think he doesn't prioritize me enough. I love him sooo much, hes very honest and true to me, but I'm to the point where I'm jealous of a game?! This just doesn't feel right. The only other thing (other than his good points) stopping me from breaking it off with him is the fact that we have a class together and i don't want to have this stuff affect my grades and I am very 'addicted' to him (i love him soo much and dont know how to live without him anymore). Should i stay With him? Should i break it off? If so, when? Thanks for any advice you can give me.
You two have to sit down and discuss it. In the end its a question of priority. I wont say his habit is stupid, most people have things they are into. I will say that video games are one thing that women often cant understand (proof being the answer below that instantly referred to it as some stupid game). Its not a stupid game to him, and its not for others to pass judgement on that.
However, you are entitled to have your own demands. The whole essence of a relationship is compromise. He has to do it and so do you to some extent. So explain to him exactly how you feel, tell him exactly what you wrote here to us. And then together see if you cant find some reasonable compromise. However, if you approach him with the notion that the game is some trivial piece of crap, then you might as well break up with him right away becuase the conversation wont get you far.
It sounds very much like he is playing World of Warcraft. For the record I despise that game, it is the most retarded, brainless video game that ever hit the stores. I havent seen three of my close friends for six months because of it. But thats not important, that fact that it has become an important part of his life is the only thing that matters.
To wrap up, talk to him, respect his likes and dislikes even if you cant understand them, but do demand some form of compromise. If that doesnt work, then I guess the only thing to do is to break it off.
Just a random quistion for guys:
Do you prefer girls who are curvacious or girs who are skinny?
I prefer curvacious.
i dont need a lecture on how smoking is bad, i know. this is pretty pathetic, but i never realized how. how do you smoke, do you breathe in and breathe out? and is there a difference between smoking pot and smoking cigarettes?
You take a deep breath with a mouth full of smoke and thats it (for both of them).
As for the difference, both get you high in their own ways (speaking as an ex- smoker of both). Some people say cigs dont get you high, and I disagree with that 100%. Thats because they alter your mood and your behavioural patterns. Its a milder high, but its a high nonetheless.
Cigarettes are, in my experience far more addictive and generally worse for your health, though pot will have more noticable effects. You visibly act differently while under the influence of pot, tending to be a bit slower, laughing at strange moments, and having strange quasi- philosophical breakthroughs lol.
Really, in the end everything is different between pot and tobacco... ranging from the smell, to the texture, to the final effects.
This is not a lecture, but just so I dont give the wrong impression, both are pretty bad habits.
