Do NOT skip breakfast. It kick starts your metabolism.

You will actually have more success with weight loss if you do not skip meals. All you're doing right now, is slowing your metabolism down. When you starve yourself, your body goes into fat storing mode.

Just stay away from candy, pop, chips, fast food, white breads, fats, etc.

Eating a small amount will not do you any good if you are eating the wrong kinds of foods. Stick to a healthy, balanced diet and try not to eat after 6pm if possible.

You are not seeing results with the sit ups because abs do not come with a this type of workout alone. You MUST incorporate cardio (to burn the fat) into your daily routine along with your sit ups. Just think of it this way: You can work and work your abs but they will never show up if there is a layer of fat over them.

EDIT:
For Cardio, you can do anything from jogging to tae bo or even dance. Any intense workout will be great. There are tons of dvd's available for this if you do not have access to a gym.

Sounds like you hae water weight bulding up in your stomach the best way to get rid of it fats is to drink nothing but water no pop and dont eat any candy. Exercising does help but you dont always have to do that. MY friend doesnt exercise she eats based on weight watchers and she has lost alot of weight in 3 weeks.

Start by eating more frequently. Eating rarely is really bad for your metabolism. You send your body into starvation mode, and that results in your muscles being digested.

Dont skip breakfast, in fact aim to eat 4 to 5 small balanced meals every day (balanced means containing some carbs, protein and fat- mainly non- saturated). Also aim your bigger meals to be before periods of activity rather than after them. Dinner should typically be a smaller meal than the others (unless you work out at night for some reason).

Best thing you can do is not running or aerobics. In your condition the best thing you can do is weights. That, together with eating right, will put some muscle on your body, boost your metabolism and tone you up.

Remember contrary to popular belief on advicenators, you cannot spot reduce fat. Meaning there is NO exercise that will every target fat off an area of the body. You can either lose weight overall or not at all. Sit ups, crunches etc build muscle on the stomach (with proper nutrition of course) and nothing more. You should work out your whole body if you want good results.

Seriously though, the first step you should take is to start eating more often. You will get no results at all if you dont. Also eat smart, and avoid empty calories from junk food and sugar, and keep saturated fats low.

Edit: (missed this part of the question) There is no way to get rid of all of it by spring, though you will be able to look better by then I guarentee it. Slow and steady wins the race, believe me, its the best thing you can do for your body and your health.

You need to eat breakfrest. It jump starts your metabolsim so you can burn calories. It's also better to have less at dinner. Start jogging. It's very good for you and burns a ton of weight.

Why is everyone sooooo concerned with their midsection? I mean is that the only muscle you really care about? Do you really want a 6 pack and have no other bodypart development to compliment your midsection?

TV and those retarded magazines have given everyone this warped sense of fitness. Do you really think that no matter what you do all spring and summer will actually get you a seriously defined midsection; like your body can just change that fast? Come on people lets get away from the midsection obsession and focus on core workouts that will build your stomach far more than crunches as well as your whole body.

Heres an idea:
Eat, train, sleep, repeat. A little bit of knowledge and a whole lot of motivation do the trick. I get asked this question from gym goers 1000000000000000 times a day and I give the same response and still no one has challenged me on it. Im sorry but youre not getting a Baywatch body by summer, at least not one that you can keep. Try doing all of this stuff for a whole year day in and day out and then you will see some real results that can be kept.

i found the problem. when you don't eat breakfast, you actually gain weight er stay the same weight because your body goes into starvation mode & you don't burn calories. not a lot of people know that but i'm pretty sure its true.

-BREAKFAST. this is definately the most important meal of the day. eat.. a lot. healthy stuff of course. eat things such as cereals, oatmeals, cream of wheat, yogurts, fruits, etc. mix & match those so you have enough. try different juices such as apple juice, orange juice, milk, water, etc. milk is good & you should have about 3 cups a day. also, eating every 3 hrs such as fruits, veggies, crackers, etc. help your metabolism.
-LUNCH. this is more of a 'light meal'. things such as soups, salads, sandwiches, etc. are good.
-DINNER. the whatever meal. you should basically have healthier foods mon-thurs. try things such as a main meat, veggies, & another side dish you like. juss go in porportion & obviously when you're full stop. try not eating after 7-8 pm. fri-sun should be your 'whatever days' for dinner. keep your regular breakfast-lunch schedule but eat more freely for dinner. for me, i can't eat healthy dinners all the time er i get in a bad mood, but if you want to that's definately good.

of course exercise. run, jog, swim, etc.

-hope that helped!♥
