I have Bipolar 1 Disorder. I hate taking all these medications and always going to doctors appointments, but life is too short to let mental illness get the better of me.


Often times life is a challenge, and nobody knows that better than me. I wake up wondering if this is going to be a day my illness overpowers my meds, and either sends me flying like a bat out of hell, or leaves me laying on the couch like a wet dish rag.

The best way to look at it is that by forgiving them, you are the bigger person- you are above their actions.
You don't have to forget in order to forgive. Why? Because it was definitely a huge learning experience in your life. You don't want to forget the lesson.

My handwriting absolutly sucks! Once I forgot to put my name on it and the teacher said it looked like a boys handwriting (since girls are more neater) and when I saw it, it was mine. I'd like to change my handwriting to be neat and clear. Is there any way to make it better?

Do not tell me to write slower and take my time because I need to be able to write fast in school. (lots of notes)

Do you happen to spend a lot of time typing on the computer?
I've noticed that since I started typing, my handwriting has gone WAY downhill.
I think it's because when typing, my fingers can move as fast as my thoughts, but when I'm writing, I can't seem to make the adjustment to slow my hand down.

(Your OB will go by weeks, not months. If you are 20 weeks pregnant, you are 5 months.)
I won't congratulate you.
I highly doubt you really feel congrats are in order. I'm sure you already realize the rough road you have ahead of you.

1. No. Plain and simple. Having a baby at school is too much of a distraction to you and your fellow students. Won't happen.
You should try to graduate high school. Yah, that baby is your responsibility, I know.
HOWEVER you having a high school diploma is in the best interest of your child. Zero education means working minimum wage for the rest of your life. Nah. No good.
Finish high school somehow. If that is impossible, get your GED. When your child starts Kindergarten, you will be 21? No reason you can't get a college education then.
And you should.
Remember- your education is important to that baby as well as to you.

2. I can't tell you whether or not to get married. That is a decision that is solely between you and the baby's father.
I do highly suggest that you try to make a two-parent home for the baby because it deserves one. Even if you just live together.
You are 16, so you can get married if your parents sign consent. That is a law in most states if not all.

3. You are going to have to have clothes that fit. Yes, indeed.
I know you want cute maternity clothes, but I'm telling you right now, comfortable clothes are more important that fashion at this point.
I promise you that sweat pants and anything else roomy with elastic bands will be your best friends in the clothing category.

Like I said, I'm pregnant too, so feel free to ask me any related questions. I'll be glad to try to help in any way I can.

so today is me and my boyfriends 1 year 6 months anniversary, and last night i had a dream that i cheated on him with his best friend! i was crying and upset in the dream, but why did i dream that? what does it mean?

It was only a dream. Sometimes we dream about weird things that we wouldn't do in reality.

Heck, last night I had a dream that I left my newborn (who is not yet born) in a house somewhere all by himself. I know I wouldn't do that in reality, so I don't let the dream effect me. It was just brain garbage, basically.

It doesn't mean you want to cheat on him on some deep level. It just means dreams are strange, and sometimes they are just crazy.

i'm seventeen years old. quite frankly, i'm tired!! I adore my mom, but she's out of control. She's been spying on me since i was 13. I'm not kidding. She has been monioring who I've been talking to and spying on everything I've said to them. Now that that's stopped a little bit because I don't go online as much, she's on my myspace every single day. she changes my songs. She told me to put this really funny song and now she's like, it's too strong, so she changed it back. I'm soooo upset. She needs to get a life, and she doesn't. Help!!

Well, you really can't blame her for trying to look out for you on the computer. With all the weirdos there are out there in internet land, I'll be doing the same thing when mine are that age. (I'm sure you will, too, when you become a mother of a teenager.)

Yah, I know we mothers can be quite annoying, but the best way to look at it is the bright side of it- she surely doesn't do it to annoy the crap out of you, she does it because she wants to look out for you and protect you. Going overboard or not, her heart is in the right place and she has good intentions.
That makes you a lucky one when so many kids have parents who could care less about what they do.

She does have a life. YOU are her life, kiddo.

Don't get rude with her. Just tell her that looking out for you is one thing, but messing with your songs is another.

i just broke up with my cheating ex...now he is with the girl he was cheating on me with. she is great. and he loves her... he used to love me but treats her better. i want to find a guy that will care about me... but i just dont know how to make myself feel better. i am so different now.. and i really miss him. how do i get over him and find someone new.. please help

A lot of folks believe it is best to move on with another guy. I don't. Why? I just don't find it fair to subject some poor fella to being a rebound relationship.
I personally believe it's best to pick up your pieces and glue them back together first.

Something to make you feel better? He cheated on you with her, he will likely cheat on her. Therefore, they really deserve each other.
Something else? He's already done his damage. He can't break your heart anymore.

These other Gods exist because people believe in them and have faith in them. A God can't exist without that.

I think there is too much of this "My beliefs are right and yours are wrong" attitude in this world. Why? Because with that attitude, it makes you start to wonder if you are the one who is actually right.
Personally, I believe that everyone is right. One group believes in this God, another believes in that God, and that is what is right for them.

If you want to trust your faith, you have to have FAITH in your faith. I don't know how to tell you how to find that faith.
I know that a lot of folks come to a point in their lives when they need to do a bit of soul searching to decide their faith for themselves.
Kind of an inner journey, if you will. But that is a personal journey you have to take on your own.

I don't know if that helps you out any, but I hope it did. I hope I didn't just make it more confusing.

ok, since you're older, and you always give good advice, i hope you can help me out with this one.

i'm really close to my mom. but lately, she keeps getting mad at me over anything. like i told her that victorias secret is having a sale, and there underwear and stuff if really cheap. & i could use some new stuff anyways. So, shes like ok i'll take you tommorrow. well, this moring i woke up, [but i pretended i was still sleeping] and i could hear my mom talking in the hallway, and she was like, "she just thinks i'm a money machine, i jsut spent all that money on her for christmas, and she still wants more." ok, underwear and stuff is like something i need. i'm growing, so i need that stuff, right? and its not my fault she spent all that money on me for christmas, right? & then shes like, & she just keeps yelling at me. about the stupidest stuff. and i'm not doing anything on purpose. what can i do to make it better?

Especially right after Christmas, folks are often times very short on money. It could be that current financial issues are weighing heavy on her mind, causing her to be more snappy.
But that is by no means your fault nor concern, so don't start stressing over your parents' money issues. Just understand that may be what's up with her lately.

I'm sure she realizes that you do need new underwear. What I'd do is go up to her and say, "Hey, I know that money may be tight at the moment, so we don't have to go shopping today. Just whatever time you think would be best to go."

I've always had a 6th sense for detecting peoples body lang. and things like that. I also get these feelings that I have to protect someone...

I'm a 15/m and I feel like I have to protect this guy. And I don't know why or how or when b/c he barely talks to me. His life is not the best and I think that's why I have to 'take care of him', kinda like a brother... but the guy won't talk to me and it's very hard for him to trust people b/c of family issues... idk what to do... normally I would just let it go right? ... WRONG!!!

I can't stop thinking about him... and it's not like I like the guy... I just can't stop wondering if he's ok today, or if he's smiling and happy. I feel like I have to play the part of father? I don't know what to do! Why can't I just stop thinking and worrying about him!?

What should I do? Have you ever felt like you had to protect someone that you've never met?

It boils down to this- if he doesn't want your protection, you can't really give it to him. That's not your fault, or anyone's.
You can't be his father. You can try to be his friend, but you are a kid yourself. Kids don't make great fathers.
I know it's difficult, but sometimes you just have to realize you can't save everyone. People have to want to be saved.

I'm currently in a long distance relationship. I live in Connecticut, and my boyfriend lives in Virginia.

This past weekend, my boyfriend came up, and stayed here (in CT) for 3 nights. My mom and family really liked him.

We talked and the soonest I can see him again is January 18th-21st. He wants me to go to VA though. My problem is my mom. I'm a 16 year old girl, and my boyfriend is 17. I don't know how to convince my mother to let me go. She doesn't seem to be too easy about it. What could be some things that I can do to convince her I'd be fine on my own.

Shes talked to his father before, and I'm thinking that may be the deciding factor, but what can I say that is convincing? I've thought a lot about it, and I'm stuck.

Well, I imagine the best way to go about it is to have her talk to his father again. You can't assure her things will be alright for you, but he can.

You don't want to do too much "convincing" because that comes off as begging, which doesn't show much maturity.

Well, folks can't help it if they are dense. They also can't help it if they can't read your mind.

hey im 13 and a female, but im not your avarge 8th grader. i smoke weed and drink offten. i got into this stuff early becasue i have a lot of older friends and my brother is the same way but hes a senior in high school. im not sextualy active but i've done everything but. i feel like im starting to get out of control. my brother is like my best friend and he even told me that im getting really bad. i had a couple parties while my parents were away and when my brother went to school he heard a ton of stories about me hooking up wtih his friends. i feel really bad because the only thing i didnt want was for my brother to be ashamed of me. but at the same time i think he's being over protective because my friends siblings dont even care like mine does. my brother told me that the kids he hangs out with that started as early as i did have std and are probably not making out of high school. i dont know if i should change my ways but all i know is that this has gone to far. please help me! thank you.

Well, the only way to get it under control is to put a stop to it. Why? You have realized that you can't control it, period.

You need to stop the drinking, stop the weed, and stop the sexual activity. Be the 13 year old kid that you are. Even if that means finding a new group of friends to be a part of. (And it probably means just that.)

Statistically, you are putting yourself at high risk of ending up with drug and alcohol addictions, STDs, and children before you graduate high school (if you even do). Not saying that is a for sure thing, but it is highly possible, at the rate in which you are currently going.

Come on, kiddo, you deserve so much more for yourself. You deserve a better life than that.

Since you are so close with your brother, why not talk to him about it? See if he will join you in changing your lives. It will be easier if you do it together.

I'm a good kid, I don't go and get drunk with guys like some girls my age do [they also go to my school], I get good grades, and I do what I'm asked.. it's just, it seems like I'm getting 'meaner' when I'm at my mom's, and I don't want to be mean. I love my mom and my stepdad, but even after a few years, it's still weird to think of him as a stepdad. I know I'm being selfish, but is it normal to be a little rebellious at my age?

It is quite common for teens to rebel. I was a little on the rebellious side as a teen, too.

I would be willing to wager that being in a divided home adds to that rebellion. Feeling stuck in the middle, at times feeling at fault, and addition of step parents can be quite stressful on a kid.

Is there a possibility that you feel some sort of resentment towards your mom and/or step dad? If you do, that doesn't mean you don't love them.

There is something there, whether it be something you realize, or something hidden in your head somewhere, that is causing you to have the attitude you have when at home. You got to try to work out what that something is.

If it is something that can be fixed, do so by whatever means necessary. If it can't be fixed, sometimes you just have to let it go.

You see, being stubborn and rebellious is obviously not creating a happy existence for you, and those around you, right?

Maybe it would help to sit down and talk to your mom, or even your step dad about your feelings on things. They care about you and want you to be happy. Don't get rude or anything, just say "Hey, I have a problem and I need your help" and come out with it.

They can't fix what they don't know is broken.

Can a girl become pregnant if the penis never went in? The tip of the penis touched the outside of the vagina, but never went in. And not long before that, the girl gave head, so hopefully there were no fluids. So is there any chance that she can be pregnant?

There is a chance, though extremely slim, that if semen or pre-cum got onto the outside of the vagina, the sperm can swim on in.
It isn't likely, but not impossible.
