sloppy handwriting

Question Posted Friday January 4 2008, 6:39 pm

15/f

My handwriting absolutly sucks! Once I forgot to put my name on it and the teacher said it looked like a boys handwriting (since girls are more neater) and when I saw it, it was mine. I'd like to change my handwriting to be neat and clear. Is there any way to make it better?

Do not tell me to write slower and take my time because I need to be able to write fast in school. (lots of notes)

any suggestions?

it might be the way your holding your pen.
look at the way another girl with good handwriting is holding hers, that might make a difference.
also, just keep practicing writing really neat and eventually it will improve

Just spend some time practicing. When you're bored, get a paper and pen and just start writing... the lyrics to your favoirte song, or a list of your friends' names, or even just the alphabet. And yes, when you're practicing, it's okay to take your time and form each letter the way you want it to look. With time and practice, you'll be able to do it faster and faster... and eventually your writing will look great even when you're in a hurry at school!

you can change your handwriting one or two letters at a time (thats how i did mine), by forcing yourself to write one letter a particular way.
for example, i wanted my Ys to be more distinct, therefore i wrote them with a straight vertical "leg" instead of the angled one. now i write that way like its second nature.
just practice slow changes, and take a calligraphy class if possible, as it teaches you better control.

Do you happen to spend a lot of time typing on the computer?
I've noticed that since I started typing, my handwriting has gone WAY downhill.
I think it's because when typing, my fingers can move as fast as my thoughts, but when I'm writing, I can't seem to make the adjustment to slow my hand down.

I agree with the girl below.
Just keep practicing, eventually it will become easier and easier, and your handwriting will be what you want it to be.

Mine used to suck too. I always wanted big girly handwriting. My mom told me to write the same sentence 50 times. You don't have to do it all at once, maybe 10, take a break then another 10. Each time try to write it better than the last. Sounds boring and dumb I know but it worked for me. Hope I helped!
