THIS QUESTION IS FOR ALL CATHOILICS
okay so ive been doubting the existance of god. I mean i know im supposed to beleieve hes real and all, but i just....havent been lately. This is my theory "If thousands of other gods in the world exist to other people, how am i suposed tot rust that this one exists too?!"
i really need osme help because i just dont trust my faith and i really really want to.
I beleieve, but i doubt more.
God exists independently of what anyone thinks. For example: many people say they do not believe in Hell. However, the existence of Hell, or any other person, place or object, is not defendant upon a person's belief in it. If the existence of something were dependent upon our belief in it, then as soon as we stopped believing in that "something", it would disappear.
I could say that I do not believe in you; I have never seen you and therefore, you don't exist. Obviously, that would be an incorrect conclusion.
God created each and every one of us and no amount of unbelief in Him, on our part, will make Him disappear.
If we want to have more faith in God, we must pray for it. Say these two simple prayer. "Lord give me more faith" and "Dear Jesus, send someone to teach me the truth". Repeat them as often as you can.
If you want a more formal prayer, Most Catholics and many non-Catholics pray the Rosary. The Rosary is a very powerful prayer.

I just kept thinking there are sooo many things that people believe so how am I supposed to know what to believe in? but honestly ever religion believes in something different and the only way to actually find out is to die, dont go trying to kill yourself or anything. But You never know you could be write that there is a God or not there is no possible way to know. so just keep believing in what have been or you could start believing in different religion. Im catholic too because my parents were and there parents and so on but you believe in a unicorn god if you want because you never know.
Meghanbucher14 answered Friday January 4 2008, 10:27 pm: hi, i'm not a catholic, but i felt like i could answer this question. I went through a period of questioning just like you are which ended up making me agnostic(leading towards atheism) i hope that this exclamation doesn't prevent you from reading the rest of my answer because i know a few people who refuse to talk or look at atheists. there is a quote that your question reminds me of that is "When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours." this quote says to me that when Christians ask me why i "dismiss" their god, or don't believe in Him, i can only answer with "why don't you believe in any other gods? why does yours prevail?" there is a lot of controversy over gods and what exists. personally i believe things that are proven by science and fact. god has no scientific proof to his existence so it makes me question him. if you are interested there is a movie that you can watch on the internet called zeitgeist that supposedly proves why gods do not exist (i have heard a lot about it but haven't seen it). some people tell me that i'm going through a phase and my faith will return (i was once christian) and this may be true. if you're having problems with your faith, questioning and reading more into your religion and faith can help you find answers. if you talk to a Priest or a religious figure about your doubt, they can also help you. and contrary to popular belief, agnostics and atheists can be good people, just like christians, with the same morals and hold themselves with high regard- so don't fear change if it comes! this response might not have given you any help, but if you have more questions feel free to drop a question in my inbox. hope i helped! Vegalicious21 answered Friday January 4 2008, 3:44 pm: i went through that, kind of, but if you research you see that many of those gods are the same as ours. like... the muslims, cristians, and jewish gods are the same.
You just have to think, and go with what your heart tells you.
Good luck and i hope you find what you want to find! [ Vegalicious21's advice column | Ask Vegalicious21 A Question ]

"If thousands of other gods in the world exist to other people, how am i suposed tot rust that this one exists too?!"
These other Gods exist because people believe in them and have faith in them. A God can't exist without that.
I think there is too much of this "My beliefs are right and yours are wrong" attitude in this world. Why? Because with that attitude, it makes you start to wonder if you are the one who is actually right.
Personally, I believe that everyone is right. One group believes in this God, another believes in that God, and that is what is right for them.
If you want to trust your faith, you have to have FAITH in your faith. I don't know how to tell you how to find that faith.
I know that a lot of folks come to a point in their lives when they need to do a bit of soul searching to decide their faith for themselves.
Kind of an inner journey, if you will. But that is a personal journey you have to take on your own.
I don't know if that helps you out any, but I hope it did. I hope I didn't just make it more confusing.
