I've pierced my left ear 12 times. I did it with a sewing needle, which I very slowly and rather painfully pressed through the cartilidge. I left the thread in for a few days and then put in an earring. It would get an infection every time, but that doesn't matter if you clean your ear every day with a special liquid you can buy from ear-piercing places. Your ear will soon get used to the hole and settle down. I prefer this method to 'having it done' because they use a gun which hurts more, in my opinion. I may, however, just have been 'one of the lucky ones'.

i was invited to the jr prom by my friend jeremy and hes usually with very cute, fit girls. not that i really care because he obviously asked me for a reason. he must not care that im not really tiny but im 16 and im a little chubby, and i think its just cuz im kinda short and my legs are so short. but can i lose at least 15 lbs by then? i really want to tighten up my arms&"love handles" especially. i have been doing crunches on my ab lounge the last 2 nights so if i do sets of 30 throughout the day will that help? i might go to the gym but i have no one to go with, so i dont know if that will definetly happen. so does jogging in place really work? i may also just take walks during the day, like walk to the tanning salon and back home. im very sad that ive gained over like 20 pounds since school started, and im not even kidding, it SUCKS!=(

I don't know about lbs I only understand stone, sorry. But its not about what you weigh, its about what you look like.
Crunches will improve your abs but you won't be able to see these muscles through the fat (no offense) unless you lose it. Jogging and swimming are the best for overall fat loss. Yeah jogging on the spot would work. If you work up a sweat and get your heart beating then you're getting fitter, and you're burning energy. Skipping is really good for tummy and thighs I hear.
Drinking water throughout the day is a really good idea. It will make you feel full (so you'll eat less), speed up digestion, flush out toxins (so you'll feel better) and can help get stored fat moving! It helps with cellulite too. Although you'll be going to the loo all the time! However, I think you may appear not to lose weight on the scales because your body will absorb more water. But look at it this way: better water than fat!
If you're going to skip a meal it shouldn't be breakfast, it should be the last meal of the day (dinner, tea?). You burn more energy in the morning and less in the evening, so it makes sense to eat breakfast to kickstart your metabolism into energy-burning, and eat only a small amount at teatime.
All fruit and veg is good for weightloss, low in calories AND good for you. Carrots, oranges, apples, celery sticks, cucumber, bananas, pears, grapes, avacadoes, mangoes... you can eat all that raw and its all great. Walnuts are really good for keeping your metabolism up (the ability of your body to burn calories) so snack on them little and often. Like two walnuts an hour! People say theres lots of fat in nuts but its good fat, if that maskes any sense. salmon is good. man i love smoked salmon. Yoghurt is great as long as its low fat. Avoid eating anything pre-made, like a TV-dinner from a shop. Try to make stuff yourself from raw ingredients, coz premade stuff contains preservatives and blah blah blah that just will not help. "Less-processed foods tend to have less sugar, so levels of insulin, a fat storage hormone, remain steady. Sugary processed foods, on the other hand, trigger a spike in insulin, which cues your body to hold onto fat." Avoid too much sugar (you get it naturally in fruit which is good). Have a whole-grain bread sandwich, its so much better!
Also, if you get hungry, I remember someone telling me they eat marmite on a cracker or small piece of bread. The strong taste tricks your brain into thinking you've eaten a lot. Also, eat food on smaller plates. That tricks your brain too. Eat the food slowly and consider it as you eat it.
You never need to be hungry, just eat little and often so your metabolism doesn't give up, and stick with the exercise. You couldn't live on a routine like this, but if you're dedicated, you can stick to it.

This guy that I've been friends with for a while sent me an email after I wrote him (being on holidays) that I had cut 8 inches off my hair. This is what he wrote to me.
"Wow, so you really cut your hair that short? I can hardly wait to see your new look. Now you can show off you SEXY neck".
When I got back from my holiday and he saw my new hairstyle; he couldnt take his eyes off me. He said I looked really good; and then he walked up to me and started rubbing my big toe ( I was wearing sandals). Then he said I had really nice toes; and that most womans toes were not as cute as mine.

Ask her to tell her parents and family that you havn't abused her. Its up to her to defend you. You could ask her to tell them she fell down some stairs or got in a fight at school... if you want to lie. I think she should have been a bit more careful, worn long-sleeved tops etc!
However they'll now be on the lookout. Make sure she doesn't get bruised anywhere noticable in the near future, or resort to less branding tactics in the bedroom. Hot wax?

In my experience absolutely!!! They like to feel taller, and love little cute short girls because it makes them feel bigger. Don't even worry!
Any guy worth his salt will love you for who you are, not your height.
If YOU want to appear taller for your own sake there's heels, haircuts and the right jeans.
But SERIOUSLY, you should be happy! My boyfriend sometimes looks put out when I tell him I'm nearly as tall as him. He wants me to be shorter! Tall girls can intimidate guys. You just gotta work that cute factor. Lucky you!

i REALLY don't get this. there are [a lot of] people out there who cut, and say it's addicting. but doesn't it HURT? why would you want to do something again that hurt you? i heard that "it takes away the hurt from the inside" but i still don't get why people do it. it kina bothers me.. 13/f in case it matters. Some people do it to replace an emotional (ephemeral) pain with one that is physical (and therefore "real"). I'm 13/f and I'm generally really thin. I weight 90lbs. My arms and legs are really long and skinny. But the problem is that my stomache bothers me soooo much. I realized yesturday when I was bending over that I have like three rolls. And I have one permanent crease! Is this normal? How can I get it to go away before summer? Am I fat? Nah, you're not fat. Everyone has those creases. When you walk, walk upright and hold your shoulders back. Cultivate a good posture and not only will it improve your mood but you'll look at your best also.

Girls have a more open and changeable sexuality than boys. I watched a TV show on female sexuality and it proved that females are arroused more easily by more topics than males. This is to do with evolution: it would be safer for a female's body to be turned on when in the act of sex than not (i.e. no tearing or ripping -ew!).
Sexuality is a pretty vague topic, I wouldn't get weighed down by terms so early, with the post-puberty and the raging of the hormones etc. She finds only one girl attractive, one guy, a couple of girls, some guys, guys who like like girls, girls who look like guys, it doesn't matter! It may all change in a flash, and is likely to settle later in life.
I've heard that if you fancy the pants off a girl, as opposed to wanting a relationship with her, that reads as essentially straight.

Its quite likely that you're pregnant if you didn't use condoms or wern't on the pill. If you don't want a baby, go to the doctor and ask for the morning after pill (there may still be a chance that this will work). They'll give it to you for free (UK) and I'm assuming elsewhere.
Everytime you have unprotected sex there's a chance of getting pregnant. So the more you take the risk, the more likely it is that you could get pregnant. Either get him to wear a condom (free from a family planning clinic) or go on the pill (free from the doctor). There are also other contraceptive options.

me and my boyfriend have been dating for 4 months and everything is going great...but his step mom, his real mom died when he was young, totally wants me dead! ive only met her once. she was smiling and everything at me but then when he went to invite me over he told me that she hated me. his dad and brother love me but his step brother and sister hate me to. i never did anything wrong to them. i have barely ever talked to them. his dad told me not to worry about it because she(his step mom) is just upset because her son doesnt have a gf and is jealous. what can i do to get her to like me? i rate 5's. Yeah, it definately sounds like she's jealous in one way or another.
Her behaviour is pretty immature. I doubt you'd have much luck trying to win her over. Ignore any bad behaviour on her part, but while you're at her house try to be polite and thoughtful (offer to lay the table, help cook, tidy plates) and don't act too snugly with your boyfriend. If you hear that she still doesn't like you, don't let it worry you.
If you have any female friends, perhaps you could introduce them to the other brother???

I'm 14 and I feel really bad because I don't have any friends. Girls just seem to not really give a damn about me. I'm so lonely and depressed right now. I haven't had any friends since I was in the 5th grade. I haven't had a person my age at my house for a long time. I don't know why, either. I try to make friends. I rarely badmouth people and I try to be friendly and pleasant to talk to. Why doesn't anyone like me?! I've tried everything; nothing seems to work. Pleaaaase don't say "join a club and meet people who share your interests blah blah blah" because I've tried that millions of times, and I try to be friendly, but nobody really seems to want to talk to me.
I've also tried asking people I know over to hang out. They almost always say they're busy, or if they're not, they either spend the whole time checking their watch, or we have a great day and the person acts like nothing happened the next day.

I spent a lot of Middle school like this because I was too shy and didn't know what to say to people, I was just really quiet. As I got older I met different people, and eventually I just found ones that I liked. Don't blame yourself, you just havn't met the right people yet.
I was gonna say clubs, sorry. You say you've tried it a million times before. You should keep going, so you form relationships with the people in those groups.
You could try inviting some people from that group out, like to see a film in town, or to go hang out in the park and get drunk. You could also throw a party. Don't worry if you don't think loads of people will turn up, you can start with small gatherings, just chilling out and watching a film or something.
Don't act too desperate to make friends, even if you are. Act cool. This means not appearing to be bothered whether they like you or not, or if they care about what you say. You'll look desperate if you're always looking at them when you say something, like you need to nkow their opinion, or if they approve of what you just did.
Maybe you seem bland to other people? Establish an identity! Decide what it is that makes you you. Wear clothes that you like, not what's in fashion. Don't worry if people think you're weird, because weird is interesting, and people will be interested in you.
Also: never say no to any opportunity. If someone says, do you wanna come out with us this evening, DO NOT SAY NO. Say sure, why not, I got nothing planned. This includes school activities and trips and even stuff you're not sure about. TBH you will need the experience.
Sorry if you think this is rubbish or condescending advice but its what I would have told me if I could send a letter back a few years!

okay stright to the point! im 14/f
my brother has done some pretty bad things to me! he hasnt all the way raped me! but done enough to bother me and it depress me! i also have a bad home life with like my dad.. i've talk to a close teacher about it. he got me to talk to the conslor..which made me talk to the school social worker! i hated tlaking to her! i told my teacher who i was close with that i didnt want to ever talk to her again! he promised me he wouldnt make me do anything i didnt want to! well the other day i was updating him because he told me to when ever i needed to! i told him i rather not have him tell the conslor so i wouldnt have to talk to the socail woker! he sad he wouldnt! but he ended up tellin anyways!.. so then i had to sit in a room with the social worker again!! after he told i made me feel so bad.. ike i dont want to hate him! he was the only one i could trust! so after school i went up to him and said why did you tell! he said he had to! so i looked at him and walked away1 he didnt bother to say anything else!
and now im confused. now i dont know if i can trust him or if he even cares about this! please someone what do i do now??? (link)

He does care, he did the only thing he thought was right. He wants to help you, he's even prepared to loose your trust to help you out. He knew you didn't want him to tell. He went against your wishes because he wanted to help you. I'm sure it was a tough decision for him, and I bet he's sorry.
You do need to talk to someone about your problems. If you can't talk to the social worker, you could ask to only talk to the councillor, or even ask to see another social worker, who you like more. These people are here to help you, and you are free to ask them whatever you want.
I don't know what the social worker did to make you dislike talking to them. Was it too embaressing to tell them? If so, well done for being brave. Did they make suggestions that you didn't like, i.e. suggested you leave home? If so, perhaps you could ask them all the different things you can do that will help your family life. This really needs to be sorted out, so try to be brave and see a social worker, they're only trying to do their job and help you out!

I hate the way my body looks and I have for-pretty-much-ever. I've tried so many diets, and working out, but nothing has ever worked. the thing is, I'm really not fat. I'm just chubby. I'm 5'3 and weigh 140.
I've had an eating disorder before, and it wasn't really that bad. I was anorexic when I was younger, I finally got over it, and now I'm buimic. Now just trying to eat makes me throw up.
How bad is bulimia? And how do I get over it?

Eating disorders are bad for you. Everyone's told you that. Being sick all the time will make your teeth brown because the acid in your sick is always rotting your teeth away, not to mention your throat and insides.
So you hate your body. But do you hate yourself? If you were happy with yourself then maybe you wouldn't care what you looked like. I'm sure you're a beautiful person, just a bit sensitive to what other people think of you. You don't need to care what they think. They probably don't even think you're fat. And you shouldn't either: you sound like you're a normal weight!
I don't know how old you are but I think as you get older you begin to care less and less about the opinions of others, and become more confident. I think you need a confidence boost, not a skinnier body.
I don't know anyone who's gotten thinner by being bulimic, because they tended to binge on food before throwing up. It just made them feel bad.
If you want to be fitter, put a little bit of exercise into your daily routine. 20 minutes a day for 5 days a week or 30 minutes for 3 days a week will be enough to start getting and keeping you in shape. Run up and down the stairs or get an exercise DVD from Play.com, they're really cheap! Also, cut out sugery foods. Eat fruit or nuts as a snack. Don't allow yourself to get hungry or your metabolism will slow down (and you'll end up gorging on something sugary), just eat little bits during the day. That's the only diet you'll eveer need.
Stop being bulimic because it won't help you get thin, it will only make you feel bad. If you can't stop, see a doctor or councillor.

Why is it that when I shave my legs I can still see dark small circles where the hair used to be?
Is there any way to make them stop appearing?

Either you have big pores, or you have dark leg hair and it's the tiny little bit of stubble left. If you think its the stubble, then maybe try using an epilator, which is a device that works like a rotating set of tweezers and pulls the hairs out. Hurts like hell but it lasts longer and it'll work out cheaper in the long run.
Actually I can't imagine you have big enough pores on your legs to cause black spots. But if you think this might be the case, buy a bottle of toner and dab it on after shaving. Toner closes your pores.
If there are only a few black spots dotted around, and not where EVERY hair once was, these are probably ingrowing hairs (regrowth that does not manage to break through the skin but grows just underneathe). Just exfoliate your legs in the bath the two nights before you shave, and the night after.
