I hate the way my body looks and I have for-pretty-much-ever. I've tried so many diets, and working out, but nothing has ever worked. the thing is, I'm really not fat. I'm just chubby. I'm 5'3 and weigh 140.
I've had an eating disorder before, and it wasn't really that bad. I was anorexic when I was younger, I finally got over it, and now I'm buimic. Now just trying to eat makes me throw up.
How bad is bulimia? And how do I get over it?
Love,
Arlo

i hope you barely started cause it is real hard to stop. after awhile it starts to control everything you do. you revolve your life around food and purging.
bulimia has serious long term effects.
you're fine. you dont have to lose weight this way. eat healthy and try not to obsess about your body.
helpmebrenda answered Monday April 10 2006, 10:36 am: Hi Arlo
Before I start I will say that I have not been anorexic or bulimic, but I do know what you are going through. At one point in my life I weighed close to 400 pounds and life as I knew it was over.
It is pretty much impossible to live life at that size. I did have a binge eating disorder, which continued in a vicious circle until I got help.
I've had gastric bypass surgery and lost over 200 pounds. I will always have "issues" with food, and for the rest of my life I will struggle with my weight.
You probably are already aware that eating disorders can drastically affect your health, and can be fatal. Eating disorders are also a sign of emotional difficulties. It's not all about food...or the lack of...it's about control and body image. It's tough when we let food control our lives, but it can get better.
There are alot of counsellors out there that specifically deal with eating disorders. I think you need to seek help before your bulimia destroys your life.
Can you talk to your parent's? A best friend? A teacher? Please know you can always talk to me. Take care...and remember...only you can dictate what happens in your life...you are important, and deserve to be healthy.

autumn answered Saturday April 1 2006, 1:36 pm: Bulimia is very harmful to your insides. You are distroying your stomach and probobly your teeth. Whenever you make yourself purge, you are bringing up acid that is eating away at your teeth and insides, causing your oragans to deteriorate. You also have mood swings that change quicily, and I am not kidding when i say that you could die from this. YOu can get help by talking to a nutritionist, therapist, parent, or friend. keeping all of it inside as a secrect could make it worse. whenever you feel like purging call a friend or parent and talk to them, or get a journal and write down how you feel. YOu need to learn to love yourself for who you are. Ask yourself who are you trying to get skinny for? ARe you happy? Who can you go to to get help? I hope that I helped you see the dangers of an eating disorder and I know that i can't make you do anything. YOu have to choose to live a happier and healthir life. Speak up! orphans answered Wednesday March 29 2006, 4:45 pm: Aww, that's really sad. Much love Arlo!
Eating disorders are bad for you. Everyone's told you that. Being sick all the time will make your teeth brown because the acid in your sick is always rotting your teeth away, not to mention your throat and insides.
So you hate your body. But do you hate yourself? If you were happy with yourself then maybe you wouldn't care what you looked like. I'm sure you're a beautiful person, just a bit sensitive to what other people think of you. You don't need to care what they think. They probably don't even think you're fat. And you shouldn't either: you sound like you're a normal weight!
I don't know how old you are but I think as you get older you begin to care less and less about the opinions of others, and become more confident. I think you need a confidence boost, not a skinnier body.
I don't know anyone who's gotten thinner by being bulimic, because they tended to binge on food before throwing up. It just made them feel bad.
If you want to be fitter, put a little bit of exercise into your daily routine. 20 minutes a day for 5 days a week or 30 minutes for 3 days a week will be enough to start getting and keeping you in shape. Run up and down the stairs or get an exercise DVD from Play.com, they're really cheap! Also, cut out sugery foods. Eat fruit or nuts as a snack. Don't allow yourself to get hungry or your metabolism will slow down (and you'll end up gorging on something sugary), just eat little bits during the day. That's the only diet you'll eveer need.
Stop being bulimic because it won't help you get thin, it will only make you feel bad. If you can't stop, see a doctor or councillor. [ orphans's advice column | Ask orphans A Question ]
Green_Machine answered Wednesday March 29 2006, 6:29 am: You just need to realize how bad it is and, also, that you're fine. Your body sounds pretty average to me. I'm 5'5" and weigh 135.
I've heard that things like that are like drugs. They're addictive, so your body thinks you have to do it and they are extremely bad for you. you should definetly talk to your doctor and/or a councilor. [ Green_Machine's advice column | Ask Green_Machine A Question ]
xo_tragicglamour answered Sunday March 26 2006, 10:12 am: My friend had this. The thing is that you have to realize how bad bulimia is for you. There are sooo many disadvantages to it. Did you know that your teeth can turn permanently discolored and your breath will always smell? You definately need to go to the doctor. Once there he/she will direct you in the next step. You'll probably end up in the hospital, which isn't a bad thing. You'll recover on the good side. And bulimia is serious. You can't get over it yourself. You have to go to the doctor. XLithiumXAneurysmX answered Saturday March 25 2006, 10:41 pm: Ignore that Brybry skank or whatever.Don't do it "until you're skinny"and then get hospitalised for it.Just don't do it at all,it's very unhealthy. And 83 pounds isn't hot,it's gross.
Anywaysss, there's nothing wrong with your weight.Beauty isn't all about weight.I know that's how it seems, but that's not how it really is.Someone is going to care about you for who you are,and think you're beautiful regardless of weight or anything. And it's not like you're obese or anything,so I would stop worrying about it.

karenR answered Saturday March 25 2006, 8:44 pm: Bulimia is not good at all.
Here are some of the dangers for you to consider.
Dehydration and electrolyte imbalance. This can lead to kidney failure and cause heart arrhythmias. Most common symptoms are weakness, thirst and irritability.
Cardiac arrest (heart attack). Frequent gluttony and purging places a great deal of stress on the body.
Ruptured esophagus, gastric tears or choking from continually vomiting.
The normal motor function of the gastrointestinal tract becomes impaired which can lead to automatic vomiting, indigestion, and constipation.
Laxative abuse can lead to chronic constipation and dependency (defecation becomes impossible without laxative use).
Bowel infections and increased risk of bowel tumors. The protective mucous lining is stripped out from laxatives and the function of the bowel is impaired, both increasing the risk of infection and tumors.
Pancreatitis
Abdominal pain and bloating
Endocrine abnormalities and fertility problems. Females may experience disturbances in their menstrual cycles.
Dental decay. Stomach acids will erode the enamel on teeth.
