loves2shop86 answered Wednesday March 29 2006, 8:41 pm: well, you can go through all the pain of doing it yourself, or you can feel almost NO pain by going to a professional... a lot of times it is free if you buy earrings. and even if it is not free, it is more than worth it... it would probably cost you a lot more (in money AND pain) if it gets infected... which there is a good chance that it will! plus you need to wear the special earrings for a while that you get at the piercing place! hope that helped! good luck! orphans answered Wednesday March 29 2006, 8:32 pm: I've pierced my left ear 12 times. I did it with a sewing needle, which I very slowly and rather painfully pressed through the cartilidge. I left the thread in for a few days and then put in an earring. It would get an infection every time, but that doesn't matter if you clean your ear every day with a special liquid you can buy from ear-piercing places. Your ear will soon get used to the hole and settle down. I prefer this method to 'having it done' because they use a gun which hurts more, in my opinion. I may, however, just have been 'one of the lucky ones'. [ orphans's advice column | Ask orphans A Question ]
TheOldOne answered Wednesday March 29 2006, 8:15 pm: I've seen it done, and the result was a bloody mess. You can have it done professionally for almost nothing; in fact, it's often done for free if you pick up a pair of cheap earrings. [ TheOldOne's advice column | Ask TheOldOne A Question ]
tasuki answered Wednesday March 29 2006, 8:13 pm: Very badly, with high risk of infection. You really shouldn't do it. It's definitely worth the $20 it costs to get it done at the mall. Trust me, you do it yourself, you are taking a HUGE risk. People do get infections, and, uh, sometimes they die. [ tasuki's advice column | Ask tasuki A Question ]
