About chaos

It's another crazy year in my world of entropy. I am engaged now and very excited. It will be a little while before we can get married due to money constraints, but it will happen.
I like things simple. I hope to give honest and useful advice. I don't believe in giving answers just to get good feedback. 98% of all questions put in my inbox will be answered. The only ones I don't answer are those too young to be here or too obscene/disrespectful. I don't know everything, but I think I can help a lot.

My boyfriend, David has diabetes. He has had it for almost 4 years. He has asked several doctors on the proper nutrition, but they all give different responses. So my question is does anyone have Diabetes that knows the proper nutrition facts in what he should eat.
Sincerely,
worried

Nutrition is such a varied subject these days. There are a few cookbooks out there made especially for diabetics that cut way down on the sugar. The most important thing is that he keep his blood sugar in control, weight in check, and exercise.
I am not a doctor, but my mother has had it for 30 years. She is on the insulin pump, but she is an extreme case. If he is in touch with his doctor on a regular basis and checking his blood sugar he should be ok. Just love him and hug him and carry a few little peppermints in your pocket in case he should have a reaction.

i want to do it on prom night but what if my boyfriend forgets a condum i mean should i wait till he gets one or shouldi go make him buy one?

Please be careful. Go ahead a buy some condoms. If they don't get too hot or too cold, they last a long time. I would caution you that "prom sex" is highly overrated. I was so nervous that I could not really enjoy myself. Plus, you could end up with more than a corsage to remember it by. Please talk to someone you trust about sex and birth control.

I haven't had a boy friend yet but I feel like I could just pick any boy and have sex with them but i'm afriad to ask to hook up with the guy.
I just REALLY REALLY REALLY!!!!!!!! need sex do you think i'm desperate HELP ME

You really need to talk to someone. You need to find out why you feel that you have to have sex. Its really not a good idea to have sex with just anyone due to STDs and the possibility of having a child. Plus you would enjoy it much better in the confines of a committed relationship because you wouldn't have to worry.

I want to make my best friend a care package to cheer her up because that's just the sort of thing we do for each other. I guess I should put candy in it and maybe some fun little toys but I want unique little fun things, not stupid redundant little things that aren't really that fun. Anything you can think of that's surprisingly entertaining yet fits in a lunch bag?

Stickers are fun and come in many shapes and sizes. You might take a trip to your local dollar store and see if they have any small crosswords or find a word books. You could make her a card out of construction paper or magazine ads. They can really be fun and pretty. You could write her a silly poem or make up a story.

please can anyone tell me things to avoid on a dates ( mention whether it's for the girl or the boy) because i am starting a caution notebook on dates.

Avoid applying too much makeup. It just gets in the way.

It would be nice to discuss what you will be doing on the date to avoid making a dressing mistake. You don't want to wear an evening dress on a day hike.

Avoid guys who tell you one thing and do another. They're dangerous.

Don't forget to thank your date for a lovely evening.

Avoid leaving the house without any spare CASH, even if you weren't planning on paying. It might be your ride home in case of an emergency or other disaster.

I have come to a conclusion.
My conclusion is: I am physically incapable of paying attention in algebra. I'm dead serious. I look DIRECTLY at the teacher, follow along in the book EXACTLY, and block out the sounds of Rick and Betsy ENTIRELY but I just CANNOT take in a word she says! When I was in regular math, I got all C's. Then I was moved to PreAlgebra and got 98's for a whole year. Now I'm in stinking algebra and starting to get C's again.
Have you ever been in a room with two people speaking a completely forigen language? You can listen and hear everyword, but it doesn't process in your brain. Welcome to math class. Another reason may be because I have it first class (8:00-9:45am) and the 13-year-old brain doesn't start fully functioning untill about 10. I'm just ALWAYS thinking about something else, usually my boyfriend, but sometime's I'll just read through class and then fail all the tests and homework. How can I get this into my brain??(sorry this was long)
~Non-Compliant with Algebra I

Is it possible to move to the front of the class and away from your friends? You may even consider changing your class schedule to have something else that early.
When do you get to school? Maybe if you hung out in the lunchroom with your math book to get in the mode of learning may help. Or think out all of those little things that distract you. For instance make a list of all the things you need to rememeber for the day so that you can free up your "brain space." Tutor are an excellant idea too.

ok so this is the problem a month ago tommorow i started dating this guy. he treats me like a saint. he says he loves me and his brother and father tell me how good i am for him.in fact that after his life went downhill, im the only thing to make him happy, but im unhappy. im not physically attracted to him. and i kno thats shallow, but he likes to be very physical. today this guy i really like asked me out, i said yes w/o thinking. i really dont want ot hurt the guy im with now. and i refuse to cheat. im so confused and hurting inside like u would not believe. he did nothing to deserve this, its just i felt like i was smothering. maybe im wrong. i kno i am, that i should be able to make myself love him the way he does me, but i cant... i just cant. god please help me, and tell me what to do. im soo confused

Please please don't stay in this relationship. You will feel even worse when you realize how much time you have wasted on what you know isn't right. Do still try to keep in contact with him and be his friend if at all possible.

Does anyone else ever get an itchy spot on their hand that, even when you scratch, doesn't go away?

HOW CAN I MAKE THE ITCHING STOP!?! Its brutal.

It might be eczema. I would suggest some hand cream (not lotion) and going to see a dermatologist.

My daughter is currently 13 years old. She's fairly mature and doesn't dress slutty. Now, she has liked this guy for about half a year. Today, he asked her out. They want to go see a movie with another couple their age on monday. I don't know if I should let her go. What is your stance on this? Is 13 too young to be dating?

If you are concerned about them, maybe you should offer to chaffuer them. I would especially think you need to meet all parties involved. Maybe invite them over to your house for movies.

Here's the situation:
I am a Baptist. My in-laws and my husband are Methodists. My husband and I attend a Baptist church. Under most circumstances, I don't pay attention to denominational differences, because I think we're all going to the same place anyway.

The problem is that my in laws, especially my mother-in-law, have made it clear that they don't like the fact that we're going to the "wrong" church. Earlier we even suggested that they could come to church on Christmas Eve with us, and my mother-in-law burst into tears and ran out of the room.

Evidently, the fact that I am not a Methodist offends them deeply. I don't want to join a different church just to please them, though. Any thoughts on what to do that doesn't involve hurting everyone's feelings?

I look into your question and see my future. But that's another story...

Some people are very set in their ways. If they were true Christians, they would love you no matter where you went. I think its great that you go.

You and your husband hopefully have made compromises to heal this issue in your own life. Maybe you and or your husband need to sit down and talk to them about how you feel when they react like this. Maybe you should have your husband talk to them.

Look I really love my boyfriend weve been together for 3 years and I want to take it to the next level(sex)and he wants to know if im really sure oh here's the catch im a virgin he knows of course so what should I do????????????

Please don't do it. If he is really committed, he would present you with a ring. I was so sorry when it happened to me.
If you do decide to go ahead, please use a condom and other appropriate birth control. I don't know if you are still in school or what, but this could wreck all of your future plans either due to a baby or a horrible disease.
It is really nice that the guy is kind enough to ask, but be careful.

*SIGH* We found Caspian. Dead. Hit by a car, as a matter of fact. What really gets me is he was about three feet from our house... he had been trying to come home! Any ideas on how to not become even more majorly depressed?

Ah. I am so sorry to hear that. You might consider a new animal or volunteering at a shelter or a "no kill" pet organization. You could foster a needy kitty until you are ready for a new pet.
Remember all the good stuff, and that you took good care of him.

I really don't like this teacher at my school. She is mean to everyone and nobody likes her. I really want to pull a prank on her because I'm so angry but what should i do? Should I prank her, or just live with it the rest of the year?

Ok, this is the very best prank I ever pulled on a teacher. I acted like I liked her. I did all my work and answered all her questions. Of course, I was a strange child. You probably think I am kidding, but I am not. I bragged to my friends about how much she liked me, knowing they hated her.
A year isn't really a long time. You could consider asking her what is bothering her. She may just be frustrated that no one is listening or learning from her.

For the past 3 months I have had a sort of half-period. Absolutely nothing that I am used to. Before that, I just didn't get one at all for 2 months. Its very strange and somewhat concerning but I'd rather not go to the doctors if I have nothing to worry about. Help?

It would be a good idea to see a doctor just in case. There could be things wrong, but it would soothe your mind even is there isn't. I personally usually have a heavy period followed by one a little lighter, but not like night and day different. My friend however has hormone problems and an irregular period. She takes birth control to even them out.

I wanna start a hermit crab activist group in my state, because I, and others, believe that Hermit Crabs (land)are treated inhumanely. In pet stores they're always in tanks with out lights or heat lamps or spoges or the waters too deep and theyve all drowned in the water bowl. I HATE HOW THE POOR DEARS ARE TREATED!!
But i have my ways of getting them better living quaters. By Buying them all. like ....12 at a time from my local pet store....i buy every single one !!! Otherwise i go to the dude at the counter and tell him to clean out the tank once in a while. Or offer to clean it myself. Once i burst into tears cos all the poor little hermies were shell-less and food-less and it was AWFUL!!!

So Damnit, how can i get a group started in my town?? Can i spread the word around to my hermie friends and start an organisation that re homes them and adopts them??? Cos that would be cool.

Remember people- Hermit Crabs can live up to 120 years old in captivity, thses guys are pets for life, not just for christmas.

hell yeah. im gonna put this in random weirdos.....and no one will carea bout it and its go to hell.

There is this site called meetup.com that helps you form meetings, flyers, and agendas. It may help you in getting an organization together. This would be along the same lines of the pet savers like http://theguineapigrescue.com/
You might ask them how they got started. It would also help to write a letter to the manager of the pet store because you can't take all the hermits home and keep them healthy.

How can I get people to stop overselling my talents? My supervisor's been calling me a borderline genius in public and I'm really not. Someone's going to give me a herculean task that I'm not up to and it's going to be all his fault.

That and I could swear I'm getting dirty looks from my co-workers.

How can I bring his public optimism level down? Screwing up in a big way is not an option.

Talking to your supervisor alone about your concerns is a great idea. You might also speak up and point it to some of your coworkers who might help you doing your task. Such as "I couldn't do it without...." Or "Mrs. Blank really makes my job easier."
This happens a lot to me. Just give praise to your coworkers like your boss praises you. Plus this gives you a great opportunity to shine.

Well, a guy named *John just asked me out a few days ago. I have liked him for a long time. We went out the other day and are planning on going out again. Now, I have no clue what to get John for Christmas or his birthday. He plays soccer although he's majourly obsssed with lacrosse. He also likes hockey. His 13th birthday is Christmas Eve. So, if you have any ideas, please tell me. I want to get him something that shows i put thought into it but isn't too serious. i was thinking of getting him a signed lacrosse ball but I don't know any famous lacrosse playeres. Does anyone know what would be a good present idea?

A few things I have tried when wanting to know what another person likes:

1. Go shopping with him. At stores he likes.
2. Ask his mom or his friends.
3. Have long conversations with him.
4. Going to a game with him would be fun too.
5. Guys love it when you make things for them.

Hey everyone, i'm so tired of being a prep and since being a punk is popular now, i think i'll go steal a chunk off of someone else's culture!

And can anyone tell me how to make my boobs look like Pamela Anderson's? Thanks so much, everyone! It means a lot to me!

How about being yourself. That would be original maybe? Pamela Anderson is not a good role model. She married/dates men who abuse her, and she has a horrible disease called hepatitis.

If you want to do something fun, go to the thrift store. It will give you many ideas at a low cost, and the money will help someone else. And if you grow tired of it, you can donate it back.
Or if you want some cultural uplifting, visit the library or see some different things like Middle Eastern Dance or Latino music. There is so much in the world to borrow from other than those in your immediate vision.

Can I get sick from licking all the envelopes from my christmas cards to seal them? I know I could use a sponge and all that but that's just not as fun... I feel like licking them gives a more personal touch. Is all that glue going to get into my system and give me some horrible disease?

Please be careful not to get a paper cut on your tongue. I think that is the only real hazard.

I got fired from my job about three years ago. It was really a great job and it was an exempt position too. I was using drugs at that time and it affected my performance and I was missing a lot of days worked. It was kind of like an eye opener for me when I got fired and I've been drug free since then. I had three little kids so I decided that it would be best if I stayed home with the kids during the day and I took a part time job at night. It's been this way for three years. Now that my youngest kid is also in school, I think that I am ready to work full time again. My dilema is I don't know what to say when asked on a job interview why I left my last full time job. I can't say I got fired because they wouldn't hire me. What do you think would the best response be?

There are some really good answers here. Someone will be missing out on a great person if they pass you up, but keep trying. I am pulling for you!
