Itchy hand

Question Posted Sunday January 4 2004, 12:38 am

Does anyone else ever get an itchy spot on their hand that, even when you scratch, doesn't go away?

HOW CAN I MAKE THE ITCHING STOP!?! Its brutal.

What "Here to help" said makes a lot of sense. I googled "itchy hand", because I've been having the same problem, and found this site. The allergy thing makes sense. I found through trial and error that peanuts for example give me terrible acne (years of acne final faded when I tried stopping peanuts - unfortunately the scars will never fade), and chocolate gives me canker sores (I actually wrote a number 1 article on this one: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) ).

So I will try lotion and watching what I eat.

I feel your pain, i used to have the same problem. It is a sign that you need to go out and protest our current administrations abuse of civil liberties. That made it stop for me.

ooh, i hate that.

there's this old legend that says something about depending on which hand is itchy, something good or bad is happening...but i can't remember it. it'll probably go away on it's own thouch in time. but if it's really, really bad, go tell a doctor.

You're quite likely dehydrated... drink some water and put lotion on your hands.

Here-To-Help answered Wednesday January 7 2004, 5:35 pm:
Maybe it's a rash...like poison ivy, poison sumac, poison oak.
Or maybe it's exema.
But I know what you are talking about...there's probably no rash, it's probably just a radiation itch. That's one of those itches you feel deep down in your skin and it's SO SO SO annoying. I know, I get those all the time. Sometimes I get thoe on the palm of my hand and the back of my neck and it's so irritating.
If there's no rash mark, then that's probably what you have, If it hasn't gone away by now put some lotion on and see if it feels better. Or wask your hands with soap and warn water. I don't know if this will work for a radiation itch...but it's worth a try.
If you see bumps or a rash you should go to your doctor because it could be exema or one of the poison plants.
It could also be because you're allergic to something you have bveen eating lately. So, if it gets worse, start keeping track of what you have been eating.
Go to your doctor if it doesn't clear up...because it could get worse but my bet is that it's just a radiation itch.
Keep an eye on it! :/

It might be eczema. I would suggest some hand cream (not lotion) and going to see a dermatologist.

Go to the store and get an itching cream. Then follow the directions on the label. That should work fine.

Quite often when that occurs, it could be the result of a neuroligical condition. How to stop it cant be answered here, you may have to consult a dermetologist. However, as a temporary solution, try hydrocortisone, it may be of some relief.
