I am an aspiring opera singer: I take private voice lessons and only practice about an hour per day but lately I have been experiencing fairly sharp pains on my vocal chords after singing. These pains usually do not last more than a few minutes but I am worried that they might be a sign of possible voice damage. Is this something every young singer goes through or is it a serious cause for worry?
It warrants a trip to the doctor. You shouldn't be having pains after you sing. It might be as simple as a rest, but it could be serious. You really need to see someone about it because it could end your career if ignored.

Last wednsday I started feeling ill, and ended up coming down with the flu. I had a sore throat and it was very swollen...now my throat isnt sore, however, the right side is very much inflammed...and I have a really bad sinus infection now...I have a stiff neck because of the soreness and b/c its swollen..recently I have been gettin extremely bad pains in the right side of my face now...Especially my jaw...which looks white inside of my mouth and is a little swollen on the outsideI have a constant throbbing pain in my temple, that seems to get worse when I chew or when I walk around...I went to the doctor today and he gave me amoxicillin for the infection and nasonex for my sinuses...I am just wondering what is goin on with my jaw/throat/temple? What can I do to stop the excruciating pain?
The white stuff is probably part of the infection. I have a litany of things I like to do when It hurts that much.
1. Take Advil or Aleve (or their off brands).
2. Put an ice pack on my head and lay down.
3. Eat Ice Cream.
4. If none of that works I then go into the hot rag.
5. Hot chocolate or hot tea (tea works well with lemon or cinnamon)
6.Pray.

My boyfriend and I went on a daytrip the other day. It was a state thing so there was a lot of peolpe there. We were all in the parking lot ready to board this bus. We got talking to an older couple(60's-70's because they had gone the previous year. We talked about the cruise and where we went to school. We told him that we go to a catholic school. Because we are bombared with impossibly skinny images from movies, magazines, and are berated when we are just a little pudgy. Some girls get over it and are happy with the way they are, some decide that fat is ok, and others are fighting it all of the time, even if they are skinny.

Tell him up front that you would like to go out on a date or two, but you aren't interested in being his steady right away. That leaves you some breathing room, and hopefully his heart intact. There is nothing wrong with just dating someone. You might decide later to make it exclusive.

What is fasting all about, and how's it done?
I know loads of girls at school that are talking about fasts all the time (not that I'm thinking of starving myself or anything for the sake of being thin, I'm just curious)
I heard my friend tell her cousin she was gonna do a 5 day fast and her cousin asked her how she lasted so long on a fast so I'm guessing it's got to do with not eating.
It depends on who you talk to. Some people fast for religious reasons. If it is religious, there is some things you may leave off your diet or you may not eat at all (except maybe water).
Other people fast to drop a few pounds. It isn't a good idea because your body tries to make up for it by making you hungrier and you gain the weight back x2.

Hey everyone. I'm in a spot of a dilemma here. You see, I have this friend who I've been chatting to online for around 2 years now and he's coming down to meet (don't worry, he's not a pedophile or anything. we've spoken on the phone and web cam and all) anyway, we were planning to see green day together and he already bought the tickets and his plane ticket. Anyway, a few days ago my good friend who lives here bought me a ticket to see Green Day. It was going to be a suprise but then he found out I was already going and had to fess up. Anyway, the next time he saw me he HANDED the ticket to me, which I now have. My good friend bought the ticket for me as a present and I don't have to pay him or anything, and I'd feel bad making him give it to someone else. But the other guy can't cancel his plane ticket or sell his ticket (since he lives in brisbane and i'm in melbourne) advice please??

Since your friend gave you the ticket, it is now yours to wield. I would personally sell the ticket to someone else and use the money to take your good friend to do something else.
Or you could invite someone who would like to hang out with him so he wouldn't be lonely. This is assuming that there is assigned seating.
If it isn't assigned seating, it might be a good idea to carpool with your friend so that you have a way home in case you need to not be with your friend who is coming down.

You can always file a report. The question is will they do something about it. Usually, its is the parents that complain about these matters. There has to be some kind of proof to that they are having sex before they can prosecute. And not being a virgin anymore isn't proof. They would have to be found in the act, find his semen in her, or she have his baby before there is proof.

ok i am 18 and i live with my sister (well freind who is so close she is practically a sister) and her fiance. now the two of them are always having sex. like she and i will be playing cards and he asks her to come upstairs. well she comes back like a half hour to an hour later and i knew they were having sex cuz i could hear them. there is no way to drown them out b/c i dont have a cd player and we dont have a tv. and they are so loud i can hear them throughout hte whole house and many times outside the house. it is kinda disturbing, because they go at it multiple times a day, and not even give a shit that i am in the house and am forced to listen to them b/c i don;t have anything else to do. what am i supposed to do? what can i do to block them out or how can i tell her that them having sex is so annoying for me to hear them all the time. its almost as if she is rubbing it in my face that she can have sex b/c i swear they are loud on purpose. and i am a virgin so it is like she is saying "haha i can have sex and you arent". am i reading into this wrong? how can i confront her aobut it? what should i say? please help me out. i am so sick of hearing them having sex.
Maybe you should ask your friend for some "non sex" time. It is really annoying when you can hear their every moan, even if you weren't a virgin. Can you ask them to try to turn on some music or something in her room?
I would just find a way to hang out outdoors or something. You just can't concentrate when that happens, and since you guys don't have much else to do, you aren't going to get anywhere until you say something. Just try not to be mean about it.
