worried about my boyfriend's health My boyfriend, David has diabetes. He has had it for almost 4 years. He has asked several doctors on the proper nutrition, but they all give different responses. So my question is does anyone have Diabetes that knows the proper nutrition facts in what he should eat.
Sincerely,
worried

The main concern is keeping the blood shuger level. I would recomened sticking to low-suger foods, not having fizzy drinks and eating things with fruit sugers in them. You don't mention what type he has, but I belive friut sugers are ok for those with low diabetes. I would also ask his doctor to refer him to a nutritonist for more advice, and to possibly draw up a plan of what he can and acnnot eat.

Nutrition is such a varied subject these days. There are a few cookbooks out there made especially for diabetics that cut way down on the sugar. The most important thing is that he keep his blood sugar in control, weight in check, and exercise.
I am not a doctor, but my mother has had it for 30 years. She is on the insulin pump, but she is an extreme case. If he is in touch with his doctor on a regular basis and checking his blood sugar he should be ok. Just love him and hug him and carry a few little peppermints in your pocket in case he should have a reaction. ]
I dont have diabetes, but you could try things. Go to a whole bunch of different doctors and try things and see if they work. Im sure I cant tell you anything a doctor can.
