You all probalby noted that the site was down for a while. We had to switch to a new server/host, and it took longer than anticipated.
Currently, it looks like our avatars / user pictures are screwed up. I don't have time to look into it much right now, but it looks like a matter of a folder not being transferred or something on those lines. I'll make sure the Admin is aware, and hopefully it'll get fixed soon.
If you find other issues with things not working, just know that it might be part of the whole move that just took place. Things only came back on-line over the weekend, and all bugs aren't worked out just yet.
So, I've been waiting patiently to get my moderator level back, but I'm just not that patient. When do I get to start rating questions again?

You need to update your column and you'll be a moderator as soon as the site updates you. In order to stay a moderator you need to update your column every seven days, and since the site was down, we all lost our moderatorship. I'm in the same boat, I was a level two, now I'm nothing. I'll just wait patiently until the gods of advicenators notice me again.

I met this guy on an online dating site, we didnt want to date or anything, since we both were seeing people. Well, we talked on the phone and online soo much he started to care for me a lot..And his girlfriend could see I was getting in the way. I didnt want to steal him he was just a great friend. But since the guy started liking me so much he even said that he shouldent talk to me a lot because he'll start loving me. But, he did talk to me for a while until his girlfriend said he cant talk to me at all! He thinks its unfair, and it is!!! But he loves his girlfriend and they wanna get married. This guy is so awesome, and I havent talked to him since May. i have tried emailing him and he reads them but cant reply..or his girlfriend erases them! also, I forgot his number so I cant call him..I tried IMing him a lot..he doesnt im me back. i know its not because he hates me or anything I know its his girlfriend.. should i give up..i mean i like this guy so much..but is it worth it trying so hard? what should i do!!! i rate
This guy might really care for you, but you need to give up. He seems to have made his choice. He had a good friendship with you, but his relationship with his girlfriend was too important to mess up.
You obviously got caught up with feelings that you never should have had. If you continue to go after someone who you will never be able to be with, then you will only get hurt.
If you two really were friends and you didn't want more than that, then I can understand being mad that his girlfriend said he couldn't talk to you... but it seems to be that you wanted to have more with him, and that's just wrong. When you know a guy has a girlfriend, you know he will never leave her, then your only hurting yourself, your hurting her, and your hurting him by continueing to go after him.

I have a 2 yr old male beagle, and i want to get a new girl puppy teacup maltese. how can i keep riley not depressed when i get him a friend. hes really sweet and loving of other animals but im scared he will turn mean and depressed. can anyone help me?
When introducing two dogs that don't know each other there can always be problems. Here's what you should do to help them get along and not get stressed.
Go to neutral grounds, by that I mean don't introduce them at your house because that is already Riley's "territory" and he might see it as the puppy intruding on his territory. Go to a park and let them meet.
Do not let them run or walk up to each other front the front. Walk the puppy from side to side and get closer with each step. But get closer slowly. Dogs will see it as a confrontation if you approach them from the front.
As you slowly have them approach, keep giving them both treats and praising them if they are being good and nice dogs. Riley will see this as "this puppy is around and I get treats, the puppy must be a good thing"
If you think Riley is going to get mean towards the puppy then back away and try again, but do not yell at him because he will only see that as "when this puppy is around I get yelled at"
And, if you think there's really going to be a problem with them getting along, then you should see a professional dog behavioral specialist. It's good that you want to get Riley a friend because all dogs need to have some canine companionship in their lives. Just watch him; don't be too nervous, because he will sense your nervousness and that will make him nervous; and take everything baby step's to make sure he doesn't get stressed.
What to watch for to know that he's stressed: Avoiding eye contact; Turning his head away; turning his whole body away; Licking his nose excesively; yawning excessively. These are all "calming" signals that basically mean "I'm stressed out" in dog language.
Make sure you pay attention to those signals because they can quickly turn into ... Growling; Snapping; Biting hard; etc.
I hope I'm not scaring you too much. I seem to remember that beagle's are very friendly dogs and you shouldn't have a big problem. If you are too nervous then the dog will sense it and get nervous also, so don't be too scared.
Make sure you give them equal attention so that neither one feels left out at all. And keep in mind that, despite what people might think, dogs do NOT have the ability to get "jealous". Jealousy is a human emotion and is often miss-diagnosed in dogs. If you think your dog is jealous, then there is underlying cause to his miss-behaving, not jealousy.

this is gonna be long so bare with me!
i was dating this guy from December 23rd to April 24th. he broke up with me because he said that he never got to see me enough. i thought i was in love with him and i would have given up everything for him. i was ready to give him my virginity. i didn't though (thank god) because i found out that he was going around and messing with other girls. i had begged him before i found that out to come back to me and he said "when we start school i'll think about it because i still do love you." well about a month later i met this really amazing guy named tim and we've been together since may 22nd and i love him more than anything in the world. he treats me so great and he would never hurt me like that. i started school today and this girl that i've known since i was really little, she had gone to another elementry school than me, i found out that she might go out with him. i told her not to because of the things he did to me. she wouldn't believe me at all. so i told her if you want to go out with him, fine, but if you come crying to me telling me that he's been messing around with other chicks i'm just gonna say i told you so. she said okay. she told me later in the day that he still had feelings for me and now she's not sure if she wants to go out with him or not.she won't believe anything i say! she thinks i'm just doing it because i'm jealous and i'm not. i love my boyfriend and i DO NOT like this other guy anymore and today i found out that she gave him HEAD and that's she's not a virgin. If she did that to him then that's the only reason why he's gonna want to be with her is because of that. and if he finds out that she's had sex then he's gonna want to have sex with her as well. He treats girls like shit and i can't take it... she came up to me today saying "em, it makes me really annoyed that you say that stuff about rob and it's not even true." i was like okay... and you definately know first hand? she's only known him for a month... Let her learn. She seems way to caught up with this guy right now and won't see anything except for how "great" he is. She will see eventually, and hopefully she will feel really bad for treating you the way that she has been treating you.
Just ignore her when she tries to say that you are only jealous. You know that's not the case, so it doesn't matter.
If she's being so ignorant, then defintely don't try to help her more. She won't listen to you until she knows firsthand how much of an ass this guy is.

Definately yes. Birth control does nothing to protect against STDs, so you definately need to wear a condom, or have the guy wear a condom. Also, birth control is not always effective for many different reasons.
Go talk to your doctor about this subject more.

Ok here's the deal. My friend lives down the street from me and me and my other friend are planning on going to his house to get wasted/drunk in a couple days. However, how am I supposed to get into my house at 930 at night w/ out getting caught drunk by my parents? How do I pretend to be sober? OR, how do I get sobered up enough to walk home and go inside my house (with my friend who is sleeping over) without getting my parents suspicious? I'm going to be walking back to my house drunk w/ my friend and most likely have my parents spaz out when I get home. What do I do? And please..don't give me shit about being too young or whatever..I know the whole deal.
If you know the whole deal already, then you should know how to handle your alcohol and shouldn't be worried about acting like an idiotic drunk in front of your parents.

im in love with my guy. all my friends and family members like him and they get along with him pretty well. everyone, except for my older sister. she thinks that hes no good for me and that hes using me. it makes me upset because whenever theyre face to face, she tends to be ignorant towards him.. and a lot of the times, he doesnt want to come over my place because shed be home. ive tried to make her realize that even though him and i go through stuff, that we still love each other and she just needs to accept it. but no matter how much i tell her, she never listens.. and she talks a lot of shit about him as well.. what can i do to have her accept us?
I went through all of that with one of my boyfriends.
What you have to realize is that she is only trying to look out for you. Maybe she see's something that you don't. And if your guy really cared for you, then he would put up with it in order to be with you at your house.
I don't know what you can do about her, maybe others can help you on that one... but you should talk to your boyfriend also. Tell him that it doesn't matter if your sister likes him or not... he should go to visit you whether she is there or not because it would make you feel better.

I gave up on love awhile ago..even though I don't want to, it just happened. Most of the guys I've dated were jerks. I don't trust guys and I resent all of my ex's and I can't help it. I'm in a rut like that. All of the guys I've dated are jerks, even the "nice" one turned out to be a jerk eventually. Because of my past relationships, I don't trust any guys. My ability to not trust anyone has hurt me when guys try to get close to me now. I tend to push them away because I think they're only lying to get into bed.
Maybe it's not that you haven't met any decent guys, but you don't trust anyone enough to see that they really are decent.
In my situation, one of the guys that I pushed away turned out to be really sweet and honest and monogamous to his current girlfriend. I felt like a jerk for pushing him away so much.
While the vast majority of guys, or people in general, are not worth your time... Maybe there are one or two people out there. You'll find them eventually.

alright, im not one of those overweight/underweight girls wanting attention or needing "emergency" help with their weight. but i have been wondering this question for a bit. when you say this weight is "average" for this height... are you saying most common kids for this age are this weight, or this is the weight you SHOULD be... in simpler words: are you basing average weight as the weight most common and good, or the weight that is considered average by professionals? i mean, the US has a large percentage of overweight children these days, and if you base it on average weight of all gendered children, wouldnt that make the scale a little off? sorry this is long- just want to know what everyone is basing their advice on! thank you and goodnight.

I can never tell when my period is over. It sometimes stops for a day, then comes back. But, after my period for about a day or 2, my urine is brown. is that normal?
It's not your urine that is brown, it's the blood that has been inside you. The "older" blood, that starts to come out of you after a couple days of being on your period, is a brownish color. Don't worry about it, it's normal.

He might not be lying to you just to get you pregnant, but he is completely misinformed about the situation. You absolutely can get pregnant, even if he pulls out before he ejaculates, because there guys have pre-cum a lot when they are turned on. Sperm is in pre-cum as well. Trust me, this is how I was born.
He is probably telling you this because for some guys, they like to think that it feels better without a condom.
You might want to use a condom even if you go on birth control. You can never be too sure about whether or not your partner has contacted an STD.

Does anyone know how long you are supposed to take birth control before it starts to work?
It is different with each kind of birth control. The most common, "the pill" or Ortho Tri Cyclen, or simply, Tri Cyclen, takes a month to start to work.
I take the three month shot, or Deprovera, and I believe I had to wait the entire three months before it became effective.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist and get as much info. as you can on your particular birth control method.

You get pregnant, and any STD's just as easily as when you have sex in a bed. I have also heard that it is dangerous for a female to have sex in water because when the guy goes into her, her vagina will open up more and let in way too much water than should be allowed. Too much water, especially clorinated or dirty lake water, is not good for your insides. I'm not too sure about this, but it is something you should look into if you are thinking about having sex in water.

There are some exercises you can do to tighten yourself up. They are called kegel exercises. They are basically a small easy exercise you can do at any time, whether you are doing homework, reading a book, hanging with friends, or, even having sex. I went to the beach today and I got burnt on my chest, lower back and thighs. Its not burned too badly but its sore and I can;t put lotion on my skin feels like its burning off and it blisters then scabs over. What are some thing I can do to help get rid of the pain??
Never.. never put lotion on a sunburn. It will tighten your skin up and make it hurt a lot more.
Use baby oil or aloe vera. Baby oil has always worked best for me. Just put a bunch on and wear silky cloths and try to be as comfy as possible.
