about

My name is Emily and blah blah blah.
:.I have a lot of personal, family, and friend issues of my own so a lot of times, I can probably relate to you a lot of times if you have personal, family, and/or friend issues.
:.I can offer a lot of information, help, and advice on family and friend relationships, love lives, depression, stretching/flexibility, weight loss, violin, being organized, dog training, forensics (public speaking), keeping up with school/extracurricular activities, eating disorders, writing (stories and poems), and probably a lot of other random stuff like what to drink when you eat something spicy and why.
:.Although I can help a lot of you guys on the above subjects, I don't tend to take my own advice so it can become quite an awkward/ironic/contradicting situation for me or make myself sound like a complete and utter hypocrite.
:.Hannah Whitall Smith once said, "The true secret of giving advice is, after you have honestly given it, to be perfectly indifferent whether it is taken or not, and never persist in trying to set people right." I agree 100% of it. Advice is advice and it is given when asked for. I give it and I leave it at that. It's up to the questioner/advice seeker to take it.
:.That point leads onto my philosophies in advice giving:
1. Advice is given when asked and no time else, unless your friend is about to irritate a black bear, then you should definitely advice your friend to back away and run for his or her life.
2. Advice is not critical, not judgmental, and definitely not biased. Advice is advice and should remain neutral.
3. Advice is to help, not to get 5s on every answer. As a result, my advice ends up being quite blunt and frank with a hint of rambling mixed in.
If you have general questions on the topics I can be a lot of help in (as listed above), most likely, they will be in my FORUM
If it is not, you can inbox me to request me to put it up.
:.If you want to ask me a question directly...
a)if it is not urgent and can wait a week or so, inbox me.
b)if it is an urgent question such as "I'm being eaten by a shark! What do I do???" first of all, I'm quite amazed that you can type while being eaten and second of all, e-mail me at cancel.life@gmail.com. I will answer you by midnight of that day (or if it's 11:55PM, probably by 3PM the following day).
advice
Hm.
I was reading the other day in a magazine how to make your own facails and what not.
annd, sadly, I lost the magazine.
I did however look it up on google, I got a number of references the only problem is, I don't really trust them compared to some random people willing to give advice, hahah :].
so, does anyone use anything special for facials? doesn't have to be home made but, if it is, it's a plus.
hur, hur.
Thanks.
Pure green tea. Get a bag, put it in hot water, let the green tea cool to room temp, and splash it on your face.
Mix any of the following:
Milk (softens, whitens sort of)
Honey (kills germs)
Flour
Green tea
Banana
Cucumber
Nutmeg
Oatmeal
Egg white
Egg yolk
Apple
Aloe vera
Make sure to wash your face before with a gentle cleanser, leave the mask on for 10-15 min, and gently wash off with warm water. Don't put anything else on your face and wash with gentle cleanser (i.e. Cetaphil)
but ive heard REALLY BAD reviews on that straightener [revlon that you showed]
i am thinking of buying the protouch from the jcpenney salon =/
heard of it?
I don't know what "bad reviews" there might be on it but from personal use, I would recommend it to anyone. The major things I adore about it are:
1. It heats up in 1minute flat.
2. I'm always on the go so I can't spend hours trying to straighten/curl my thick hair--and I have a lot of hair so it takes a long while to curl with a curling iron or another straightener. But witht the straightener that I recommended, I can curl and straighten my hair in about 30 minutes (versus the hour and half to two hours it would take me with a curler)
3. The part of the cord that is attached to the straightner itself turns 360 degrees so you won't have your plug unplugg or have your cords twist around your arm or straightner.
4. It's compact and light and the handle part never gets hot so it's really great to hold and to travel with.
5. It has heat settings from 1 to 25 so if I need to do something fast, I can go to 25. If my sister, who has thin hair, needs to use it, she can set it at 15 or 20. In other words, it's adaptable to any type of hair because of the heat range.
6. It doesn't have those little pesky "comb tooth" all around so it' really helpful when I'm curling my hair because they won't get tangled.
7. I don't think I need "Whip out the $60 and I'll give you a straightner" style of straightner. And that's why I like this straightner--it costs around $20 to $25 dollars (depending on where you live).
I'm not going to recommend or tell you not to buy the Protouch you are thinking about because I have never heard of it nor have I used it. If you want to try out straightners, I say consider these points:
1. How much and often you are going to use it.
2. How much money you see fit for a straightner and how much you'll spend on it.
3. Does it have features that do not appeal to you? If it does, try and look around a little more.
4. Make sure the cord attached turns 360 all around or it'll become tangled or unplugged at an important moment.
5. Make sure it's ceramic!
6. If you have heard good things about it from friends you know that have personally used it.
Good luck =)
what if i want those big waves on my hair wont i need a 1 1/2 inch curling iron?
The problem with creating big curls is that not enough heat gets to them to really tighten them and hold them in that shape. The best way to get big curls would to by big rolls--you know, those things that people use to use before the heating irons came out? Get big ones where you can heat them up when there is a heat source contacting them, aka hair dryer.
85% dry your hair, put on some anti-frizz serum from Fructise, dry it all the way through, put on some hair spray for each section of your hair that you'll be rolling, roll your hair, blow dry it, and before taking the rollers out, spray it quickly all the way around once more. You'll have yo mess with how you place the rollers and how much hair spray you use and all that jazz before you get the hang of it and are able to make beautiful curls.
The thicker a curling iron gets, the more power it's going to lose. But then all hair is different so you can try out the 1.5" curler. But my sister with thin hair didn't have great results and me with thick and strong hair didn't have results either so I don't know.

is this thing any good?
If you want a straightener, I say go with this:
http://www.target.com/Revlon-Perfect-Professional-Ceramic-Straightener/dp/B00012FW00
It really does heat up in a minute, it has heat settings from 1 to 25, and you can use it to curl your hair as well. And it's around $20 to $25. It works really well, especially since my hair is thick and it works in a snap.
whats the best curling iron no i dont like the flat iron ones dey dont work.
but what the best curling iron?
please list about 4 or 5.
also, is this good?
its conair:

i heard it was but not pretty sure because its so CHEEAAAP. but i dont cvare if its cheap i care bout the QUALITYY.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQzOYXq14a8
Have you tried looking at that? Personally, I favor straighteners over curlers because they curl so much more quickly and the turn out is amazing. I use Revlon 1" straightener so try it. It's around $20-25.
http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=84255&catid=49140&trx=PLST-0-CAT&trxp1=49140&trxp2=84255&trxp3=1&trxp4=0&btrx=BUY-PLST-0-CAT
This is a curling iron I use to use. It worked pretty well.
Other than that, the best tip I can give you:
Avoid buying thick curlers because they never last (maybe an hour?) So go for skinny curlers. If you want big curls, go with a straightener.
so whats the secret to long lasting beautiful curls? doesnt matter if loose orr tight curls. i want it to lasT ALLLLL DAY LONG. im serious.
like whats the process? like putting on some type of spray before curling? if so, what product? links please! or liek do i put hairspray in thje end? or not? cuz that willl look unnatural curls.
stuff like that
what products
or secrets to do?
you do.
=]
I have pretty stubborn hair after it becomes curled so mine can last up to two days if I wanted it to.
What I do is:
Get out of shower, blow dry my hair 90%, put on anti-frizz serum from Fructis, and blow dry my hair 100%. Then I let it chill for a while. I whip out my 1" straightener from Revlon and start curling. Afterwards I'm pretty much done but if I'm going to a dance or something of the like, I spray Dove hairspray extra hold(light layer!) all around then I shake my head and try and look all the way around to pick up any hair clumps (then I separate clumps with my fingers). Other than that, it's pretty much keep it until I take a shower or it lasts--whichever comes first.
But don't do this too often. Just for special occasions. It really screws up your hair. I usually almost always let my hair dry naturally so when I curly my hair, it's like boot camp lol
okay so i made a dumb mistake long story short
i had sex today and my boyfriend didnt use a condom.. i know we should have and i have had pregnancy scares lately where i think im pregnant because i end up missing my period but i guess my cycle just changed a bit bit now its back on track..
i use this online thing to track my period and it says like ovulation day and such this website
http://www.mymonthlycycles.com/
and it says that today i was fertile... and i had sex without a condom ah.. and im only 16 and i know it was a mistake so im not looking for a lecture i just want peoples opinions of if they think i have a high or low chance of getting pregnant.. i mean .. he pulled out and jizzed so.. i don't think any got in me..
As YG said below, even if he "pulled out" before he "jizzed" you can still be pregnant.
Whenever you have sex with someone with no form of contraceptives, you risk the chance of becoming pregnant. Heck, even with a condom, there is a 15% chance you will become pregnant. And what if the condom breaks?
Bottom line: there is always a high risk chance of being pregnant if you do not use any contraceptives and have sex (unless you are infertile or he's shooting blanks).
There is an early morning pill called Plan B and some stores sell it without prescription. However, you have to be 18 years old to get it. So you better find an 18 year old friend or get your parents to buy it for you unless you want to risk having a baby pop out of your vagina in 9 months. Other early morning pills need prescriptions. Other than the EM pill, there's not much you can do to prevent pregnancy.
What does someone mean when they say "Oh that's not fat that's just water weight" What is water weight? and how can you tell if you have it? also, What is the best and fastest way to loose it?
BahaiMa22
Our bodies are made up of 60% water and if you think about it, that's a lot. However, those 60% of water is necessary for us to live a healthy life. So when people say "That's just water weight," it usually is said when someone complains about gaining a pound or two. Everyday, our bodies are going to go from 1 pound less to two pounds more to two pounds less, etc. It'll fluctuate.
However, your body can retain more water than necessary (if you're very sedentary or if you eat a lot of salt, for example) and that can be excess water weight.
There is not real way to tell how much of your weight is excess water weight. But in short, everyone has water weight if you think about it.
Getting those pounds off just from water weight, however, is a terrible and silly idea. Water is vital for us to live a healthy life. If you try to get rid of the water, you'll dehydrate yourself. Also, you gain water weight back in a snap so it's kind of pointless.
If you want to lose weight, try by exercising regularly and eating healthy. You'll be losing excess fat you may not want rather than water weight. And unlike water weight, those pounds will more likely stay off.
my friend (f) and i (f) want to do a duo piece this year. can someone help us find a piece for two women, preferably comedic? we can't find much online or at barnes and nobles. IT IS NOT NECESSARY that you give us actual PIECES, but maybe a website, a book.
and PLEASE GIVE LINKS. don't be vague by saying, "google it." cause we have. believe us.
I have tried to Google duo interp pieces...doesn't work out very well >.>
I can't remember the writers of the pieces but...
The DMV Lady
Tables and Chairs (I think)
I'll be seeing my forensics coach on the 27th so if you want to e-mail me then, I can get the authors for you =)
Also, may I tell you that most judges do not accept online published pieces--they have to be in book form.

hi im on my schools vball team. i want to trim down my butt and thighs. however, im afraid that i will get toned and then get "thick legs".
does anyone know any tips for me to do that? or a website? (i tried googling this by myself, but i came up empty.)
thanks in advance.
Okay, well if you want to tone your legs, do target exercises or just run.
For your behind...
Alternating squats not only help with your buns but also with your thighs. How do you do them? Stand with feet shoulder width apart. From that position take, left foot back and squat down, coming back up with your "bun strength" Come back to the original standing position. Bring your right foot back and repeat. Continue like this at a faster pace. 2 reps of 8
Lay down on your back. Hands by your side [Or behind your head.] and bend your legs at the knee. [A basic crunch position] Now, lift your buns up and either do 2 reps of keeping it up there for 10 seconds or 2 reps of lifting up and down 8 times.
Get on your hands and knees and make sure your back is flat. Go down to your elbows from that position. Lift your right leg up, bent at a 90 degree angle at your knee. Bring it up high and down a little. 2 reps of 8. Switch sides.
Thighs....
Outer thighs:
Lay on one side with one elbow propping you up a bit and the other arm in front for balance. Legs should come in front slightly, straight out. Lift your top leg up and down slowly. 2 reps of 8. Switch sides and do the same.
Have a chair for balance. Lift your leg out and up while you're standing. Erm, bring your leg in and out? It's like the above exercise, except standing. 2 reps of 8. Switch sides.
Inner thighs:
Lay on one side with one elbow propping you up a bit and the other arm in front for balance. Legs should come in front slightly, straight out. From that position, either bring your top leg up high and grab it with your balancing hand or if you're not that flexible, simply bend it at the knee and place your feet on the ground behind your lower leg. From either position, bring your bottom leg up and down. 2 reps of 8
Lay on your back, bring your legs up to a 90 degree angle [If you're not that flexible, any angle will do] and make sure it's STRAIGHT. Now, make a 'V' shape with your legs and close them. Open them. Etc. 2 reps of 8.
--------------
The key to getting slim thighs is to be skinny in the first place. What I'm saying is that you can tone all you want and you will get toned thighs and butt but if you still have more fat than needed in those areas, it may come out looking a little thick and/or bulky. So exercise and tone but don't tone too much because a lot of muscle can cause the thick look as well.
So...skinny toned thighs and small toned butt = just the right combo of muscles and lack of fat.
so what can i do to lose my fat under my stomach? I NEED IT TO WORK THOUGH.
what did you do or something?
You know, it really sucks that we can't decide where our fats go and don't go. But since we can't, instead of complaining about it, we should all do cardio or aerobic workouts to burn off those excess fat we don't want.
It's really hard to get rid of that fat on your lower stomach because that's usually the most stubborn of all places to flatten. So yes, it's going to take time, dedication, and patience.
I'm not going to promise you that this "workout regime" will work in a week because usually, if you lose something ( a lot of it) in a week, you gain it back in a week and more.
http://www.advicenators.com/qview.php?q=546329
Read the advice I gave to the questioner.
In addition to that:
You can do all the crunches you want but make sure you're doing them in a healthy and safe way. If your neck or back starts to hurt, stop because crunches are not the thing for you.
You can go into a crunch position but with your hands with the palms flat on the floor next to your sides. lift your entire lower body up (legs and butt) and curl the knees towards your chest. If this still hurts your back, don't do it.
Stand up, legs shoulder width apart and arms bent above your head so that the palms are touching the back of your head. Bring one knee to the opposite elbow and yes, you can bring your elbow to your knee as well and yes you can curl your abdomen--that's the point. So in short, bring your elbow and opposite knee together. Do this 8 times slowly than 8 times fast 8 times slowly 8 times fast...then do the same on the other leg.
If you need to get rid of something on the side...
Stand with your left leg in front and slightly bent. Your right foot should be directly behind your left foot and about a foot or two away from your left leg to the side. Hold your right arm straight up and your left arm can hold onto something for balance. Lift your right leg up to the side (straight!) so that you're sort of making an upside down "L" shape with your legs. While you're brining your right leg up, bring your right arm down so that it's parallel to your leg. Go back to previous position. Now do the same except this time your leg is bent at the knees and your arm is bend 90 degrees. Do this 6 times and on the 7th one, hold your leg up and bend at the knees and straighten then bend, hold for 5 seconds and let your leg down. Now repeat on the other side =)
whenever i do situps i have a hard time breathing i dont know why and it really effects the point that i wanna lose my tummy
anyone help?
1. Curl ups is a bad exercise if you have back problems and 2. curl ups is a bad exercise if you don't do it properly.
If you want to lose stomach fat, do a cardio or aerobic workout continuously for 30min--then you'll see results. Curl ups just target your ab muscles, which means that it will tone your muscles but won't do squat for your fat.
"Otherwise you may spend months building rock hard abs under a layer of fat that is completely unaffected by your efforts."
1 what does that mean?
2 like if i only do sit ups i wont even lose the fat...!?
3 why or why not?
Toning exercises, curl ups being one of them, only help you strengthen and define your muscles (toning them, tightening them, etc.) While muscle does have a tendancy to burn more calories, it does not burn enough calories to burn those fat cells.
So if you have excess fat around your stomach, you need to burn them off by doing cardiovascular exercises or aerobic workouts.
Anyone can have gorgeous abs but it doesn't mean that everyone's gorgeous abs show.
Think of it this way: your ab is a present and your fat is a wrapping paper. You can't see the present until you get rid of that wrapping paper.
So to answer your questions.
1. You can't see your abs and toned muscles unless you get rid of that fat that's surrounding it first.
2. No, and even if you do, it will be a very insignificant amount.
3. It takes your body 30min of continuous exercise to start burning stored fat. Curl ups will tone your muscles but will pretty much do squat to remove your fat.

1is that a good curling iron?
2is conair a good brand for curling irons AND straighteners?
Personally, I gave up on curling irons.
I have thick hair that takes a good hour and a half to two hours to curl with a curler...
However, I found out that you can curl your hair with a straightener and it has worked wonders--I can curl my hair in about half an hour--no joke!
The brand I use is Revlon and it's 1" thick...
It has heat levels from 1 to 25 and it heats up in a minute flat. So if you are on the go, this is definitely for you. And the cord attached to the straightener turns 360 so you can curl all you want and the cord won't get tangled!
http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?skuId=2085300&productId=prod2085300&navAction=push&navCount=1&categoryId=cat120072
You can get this at CVS, Target, Bed Bath and Beyond, and pretty much anywhere that would sell hair products. I got mine at BB&B for around $20 so you should definitely get it! It's cheap and amazingly awesome!
In case you don't know how to curl with a straightener:

I always have real bad morning breath when I wake up. why is this, n how can I make it so that I don't get morning breath?
It's because your mouth becomes dry when you sleep, which makes it easier for germs to accumulate in there.
If you floss, brush your teeth, and use mouthwash after breakfast and dinner constantly for over 2 or 3 weeks, your breath should be pretty manageable in the mornings. However, you should be doing that already and you should do that until your dying day because that's basic teeth care 101.
Also, if you want, you can go to the dentist and ask for a tongue scraper. It's kinda gross but it's helpful.
alright so I got my lip pierced about two weeks ago. I think that at one point it was infected (there was greenish gooey stuff) but I kept cleaning it&now it doesn't have discharge, it doesn't burn or hurt, &im pretty sure that if it was infected, its not anymore. but I was putting a new stud in earlier today, and I noticed that on the inside, the skin around the piercing is like an off-white, slightly grayish color. is this normal ? what could it be ? please respond with what you think it is, &how sure you are that you're right. thanks !
Are you talking about the grayish thing on the inside of the lip? If so, it's most likely a scar tissue that you don't have to worry about. IF it's on the outside, it should go away over a period of time. I've never had an infection when I had my lip pierced but I did notice that the skin around the piercing on the outside was kind of grayish and that inside, whenever I changed the jewelry, a white bump would show but I was perfectly fine. The grayish part went away after a while and the white bump was just scar tissue.
Just keep cleaning it and take good care of it and you should be fine.
Ok I've been working out at the gym, but I've got about a two hour time frame. For health reasons my doctor said I need to loose weight before I get diabeties. What should I do? Does anyone have a workout routine that helps drop weight and tone a body??
Since you're not looking to lose weight by a certain time, here's what you should aim to do:
This is a slowed down process of my usual weight loss advice so you must stick to this and you shouldn't have much excuse:
Eating:
1. Get rid of most/all of junk food/bad foods in the housing, including but not limited to brownies, chips, soda (regular AND diet), juices high in sugar, buttery/creamy/cheesy stuff, pizza, burger, hot dogs, anything fried/deep fried/greasy/drenched in oil.
2. Go fruit and veggie shopping: buy any fruit that you enjoy eating and any veggie you enjoy eating (or not hate eating without it being cooked/drenched in any dressing). Come home, wash them, cut them/prepare them into portable snacks and put them in a baggie in the fridge on the shelve that is at eye level--no putting in drawers.
3. Whenever you have the munchies, munch on veggies (preferably raw and no sauce added) or fruits and avoid granola/health bars because they pack on calories and sugars as well.
4. Try and aim to eat 5 small, well proportioned, healthy meals 3 hours apart throughout the day. However, aim to eat your first meal after 7AM and your last meal before 7AM. Eat at least 3 hours before you plan to go to bed.
5. Water, water, water, and more water. Avoid drinking any type of sodas (even diet sodas), juices that are not natural and has a high level of sugar added, alcohol, etc. Stick mainly to water, tea (as in hot water + tea bag and nothing else), black coffee, low sugar juice, and/or fat free/low fat milk.
6. Eat for at least 20min to give your brain enough time to realize that you've eaten something and that you're approaching full, and eat without distractions (newspaper, book, TV, etc.)
7. Staple your meals mostly on veggies and/or fruits, whole grains, and lean meat. Avoid cooking foods by stir frying, deep frying, frying, or having it drenched in sauce(s). Try and cook all foods by boiling, broiling, baking, steaming, or grilling.
8. If you're going out to eat, try and fill up on broth based soups (NO cream of (food name) or broccoli and cheese or anything that's really creamy and/or cheesy) and/or a salad with dressing on the side (preferably a light dressing which means go with a vinaigrettes of some sort...not ranch or thousand island or caesar) See if you can order an appetizer for your meal or from the kids menu=smaller portion = less calories.
9. Remember the sauce color rule: the closer it is to red, the better it is (ketchups, hot sauce, marinara, etc. = low calories) and the closer it is to cream/white, bad, bad, bad, bad (ranch, alfredo, mayo = high calories).
10. Eating, in other words, should be formed into the habit of being healthy foods that are low in calories but still meet the nutritional needs of a person.
Exercise:
1. Exercising first thing in the morning on an empty stomach burns the most fat.
2. Exercise at least 3 hours before you go to bed.
3. ALWAYS go at your own pace/speed and gradually increase because if you push yourself on the first day, you're likely going to be too sore for the next week to do any exercise, which defeats the entire purpose of exercising.
4. Always make sure your food is digested before you do something. Always stretch BEFORE AND AFTER an exercise THOROUGHLY! Again, if you don't you'll likely be sore.
5. Exercise at least 3 times a week from 30 to 60min. Always include cardio/aerobics (running, aerobic dances, etc.) and keep going at it without pausing in between for 30 min straight because your body starts to burn off stored fat only after 30min of vigorous exercise.
6. When your body begins to get accustomed to the cardio/aerobics of your choice (notice that I said your body, not you--this means that you're body isn't becoming quite as tired and by no means does it mean "when you feel like running everyday") take up your cardio/aerobics up a notch whether it's by making it more difficult or making it last longer. Also, add in weight lifting.
7. Weight lifting should focus on all parts of your body, and I suggest that each time you weight lift, you focus on one part of the body then the next time, another part, etc. so that specific part of your body has time to chill before getting hit with another weight lifting workout.
8. When you get comfy with #7, add in toning exercises.
9. NOTE that I say add in these exercises which means continue with cardio/aerobics when you add weight lifting and continue with cardio/aerobics and weight lifting when you add in toning. I'm also having you add them one by one so that your body doesn't get too accustomed to the same thing over a course of time which in turn has the exercise(s) you're doing little effect.
10. You must do cardio/aerobics (and eat healthy) to burn off the excess fat. Yes, weight lifting/toning exercises will help build muscles, which in turn burns more calories. However, if you don't burn off the excess fat, you're just going to turn into a bulky chunk of mess.
To sum up:
-Eat like a health nut: this means that you need to eat healthy foods, and just because you're eating healthy foods does not mean you can gorge on them. Eat healthy foods at right proportions.
-Exercise 3 or more times a week 30 to 60 min (or more) always including cardio/aerobic exercise(s) and gradually adding in weight lifting and toning exercises.
-Set small, manageable, (and possible) goals (i.e. lose 5lbs by the end of this month and 10 lbs before school starts--I don't know when yours starts but mine starts sometime in September so 10 lbs in 2 months is sensible and achievable)
-WATCH your caloric intake and outake!!! This is important. Find out what your BMR is (Google BMR Calculator) and make sure that you do not put in more calories than your BMR (BMR is how much calories your body burns in a normal day) which can be controlled by limiting what you eat as well as burning off calories with exercise!
To find calories of foods or how much calories you burned off, go to calorie-count.com
To get toning exercises, visit my forum and one of the topics will give you many toning exercises.
Good luck,
Emily

Well, basics of losing weight run through:
1. Get your BMR (how much calories your body burns in a regular day) and subtract 500 from it and consume only that amount of calories per day. But say your BMR is 1200 or something low...don't eat only 700 calories. Eat like 1500 calories and burn off 800 calories (yeah, unrealistic, I know) What I'm trying to say is that you need to achieve the BMR - 500 with a mixture of limiting caloric intake and exercising. Stick strictly to this and you should lose at least a pound per week.
2. Eat right. Try to eat 5 small meals a day 3 hours apart. Focus it mainly on veggies, fruits, whole grains, and lean meats (or if you're a vegetarian, double up on the veggies). Aim for foods low in fat and not too high in carb because every carb that you consume but don't use as energy turns into fat. If you need to snack in between, munch on veggies and/or fruits. Absolutely no junk food or fried foods (pizza, fries, brownies, soda (diet AND regular), juices high in sugar, etc) Stick to water and fat free/low fat milk and/or tea. If you're planning to eat salads, pick a low calorie dressing and put it on the side instead of drenching the lettuce in dressing. Fill up before meals with a broth based soup (which means no broccoli and cheese or cream of (food name) soup) and/or salads because they'll be low in calories yet very filling. If you are going out to eat, order a soup and/or salad as an appetizer or as a meal. If you want to order something else, order from the appetizer menu or the kids' menu if you can.
3. Exercising. You must exercise at least 3 times a week for 30min to 60min. If you want to lose weight and appear thin, you must do cardio/aerobic exercises for at least 30min or longer if you can. You can do all the weight lifting and toning that you want, but if you don't do cardio to burn off the excess fat you don't want, you will get bulks of muscles underneath a layer of fat and they don't look pretty. You don't need a large place to run. You can stand behind your house or on the driveway or just one hard surfaced spot and run in place. Yeah, you'll feel silly but it's exercise. Or do jump roping for 15min straight then rest for 1 min and go do another 15min of jump roping. Or you can buy aerobic dvds and do them in the privacy of your house. But I can't emphasize enough to you that you MUST do something that will burn off those fat cells you don't want and stretching isn't going to cut it.
So, a run through:
-Cut off 500 calories from what your BMR is, and try to do so with a combination of limiting eating and exercising.
-Eat like a total health nut 5 times a day. Avoid eating between the hours of 7am to 7pm, and avoid eating with distractions around you (TV, book, newspaper, etc).
-Aim to lose only one or two pounds per week: the slower you lose it, the longer it will stay off.
-Set small, manageable goals (i.e. 5 pounds by the end of this month)
-DO NOT skip on exercising (stretching doesn't count, although very important). You must do cardio and/or aerobic exercises 3 times a week for at least 30min continually. This will be the only thing that burns off the fat you don't want.
-If you just go straight to toning exercises and/or weight lifting, while it may build muscles which burns more calories than if you don't have muscles, it won't burn off that fat in time and you'll look like a bulky mess.
-Your exercise should look something like this: stretching (warm up), cardio/aerobics, toning/weight lifting, stretching (cool down).
-Go at a slow, steady pace and gradually increase in whatever you're doing and do not skip the before and after stretchings or you'll be sorry the next day when you're too sore to get out of bed.
so im getting my nose peirced for my birthday
and i live in illinois
and i was wondering what are some good places around here?
thankssss :]
I don't know where in Illinois you live so I can't tell you a place near you...for all I know, I can give you the name of a place 5 hours away.
All I can tell you is to avoid any piercing places in a mall. Make sure that it's a body arts place that only does tattoos and/or piercings!!! Those little stands at the mall are extremely unclean and you can get infected or get an incorrect piercing, especially if you're getting a nose piercing.
Go to yellowpages.com and type in "body art" "body piercing" "piercing" or something of those sort in to find a store near you.
Make sure the place is clean, make sure *THIS IS IMPORTANT!!!* that they are wearing gloves, open NEW packages of piercing material, and that they pierce you with a hollow/piercing needle and NOT a piercing gun!!! Piercing guns are meant for ears and to pierce a nose, it takes more strength because the nose is thicker and harder than your lobes. Piercing guns cannot be cleaned so there is more of a chance of infection as well. So remember, have them use a needle! (This applies for any piercings you may get in the future)
so i have this summer assignment that says i have to pick FIVE IMPORTANT current issues, and describe them and give my oppinion. i've thought of issues such as the economy and gas prices, but i need 3 more and of course there all those issues out there such as abortion, alchohol, drugs, animal rights, global warming, etc etc...these issues have always been around and im not sure if they can be described as important CURRENT issues...so my question is what are some important issues to discuss that are happening right now. oh and please anything but the 2008 election because weve been told not to use it...
THANKS =]
Current Issues usually means issues that are occurring at the current time, so I'm pretty sure that these are all okay. Just incase, e-mail your teacher (he/she should check e-mails over summer. My teachers do) and ask:
-Gay rights
-Animal rights
-Depression
-Eating Disorders
-Media and its emphasis on the "perfect" body
-Divorcing
-Gas prices
-Global warming
-Bad foods/obesity
-Economy
-Abortion
-Drug Babies
-Teen pregnancy
-HIV/AIDS
-Honor Killings
-Invisible Children
-Celebrities (reckless acts)
-Hate Crimes
-Abuse (spousal, relationship, family)
-The rise in number of teens with STDs
-Autism?
-Stereotyping/Prejudice
-Bias (of any sort)
-Same sex marriage
-Illegal immigrants/extremely slow process of getting a green card
-Poverty/homelessness
-There is a big issue going on in South Korea with the new president and the medical insurance.
-Wars/fights/disagreements in other parts of the world
Good luck =)
